Do we need the X11 update?

Hi everyone
X11 has just been updated, but I'm not sure from the description (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10464) if we need it or not. It's PPC, but that may just mean there isn't a fat binary ("universal" binary) yet.
Then there's the bit about installing from Panther disks. I'm confused.
Do we need this, or not?
Thanks for any light you can shed on the question.

Thankyou very much for your reply, which I found helpful, because one of the reasons I need X11 is to test our new OpenOffice translation. So your warning is very useful!
I asked about this update on the UNIX forum (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3473161&tstart=0), and it looks like the only people who need it are those with special display situations. Since I just use my MacBook screen, I can avoid the update, which sounds like a good idea, in view of what you say about OpenOffice.
By the way, have you used NeoOffice?
http://www.planamesa.com/neojava/en/index.php
It ports OpenOffice to the Mac GUI. I prefer it myself. It's more Mac-like.
I've also been told that OpenOffice itself is working on a Mac port, so we won't need X11 for OpenOffice at all once they manage that.
I hope this is useful for you.

  • BCALV_EDIT_03 - Need the table update function

I am fairly new to OO programming and have worked through the various sample programs. I am currently using BCALV_EDIT_03 and _04 to write a table maintenance program.
I kind of have figured out how the delete and insert function works but unfortunately in sample program _03 the final table update function is missing.
What I am after is that I get all the changed records from the grid and update the external table just with those records.
Could somebody post some sample update code that I could check out?
    Thanks in advance.
    Gerd

Table update as in, database table update or ALV table update ?
ALV Table update will be done automatically, in case you have used the method : set_table_for_first_display
As you also quote that you are checking out BCALV_<b>EDIT</b>_03, I will just clarify this point, all changes made to the table are triggered by the EVENT DATA_CHANGED and this event has the necessary fields, from which you can come to know which rows and what values have changed. You need to use this DATA_CHANGED event and update your internal table. This is then shown in SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY in PBO.
In case you are talking about database update and if it is a custom table, then you have to use the direct update.
In case it is a SAP table, you might let us know which table it is, and probably some of the experts here can let you know the Function Module, BAPI or any method of a class to use.
In case you need a good tutorial help, you can find it in Serdar Simsekler's
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/an easy reference for alv grid control.pdf
Let me know if I am way tangent here or I could be of help to you.

  • Need the iPod Updater file

With iTunes 7.0.4, it appears that the only way to get my iPod Shuffle 512GB updated is through iTunes.
I simply can't. My system does not support having, on USB ports, an external hard drive, my iPod (and iTunes) and Internet access at the same time: it freezes hard.
I need to get the iPod Updater file before starting iTunes to update my iPod (unless I can update without iTunes). It used to work like this before :-/
I tried the different solutions proposed on the Apple site like cleaning up the system to no avail. My situation is not specificaly documented.
    Any help on this?
    TIA

I worked around by bowworing an Ethernet PCMCIA card from the office. I then could access Internet and connect my iPod without freezing the laptop. I managed to upgrade the iPod! To bad there isn't a way to get the updater though.

  • My ipod touch is saying that I can't connect to itunes because i need the latest update but when i hook it up to my computer it says i have the latest update. where do i go from here?

i just got an ipod touch secondhand. when i try to go to itunes its says "request cannot be completed" then when i search for apps on the internet and try to download them it say I need to update my itunes, but then when I sync my ipod to my computer its says I have the most recent update.

I think that the message is telling you that you need a newer version of the iOS on your iPod.  If the computer has iTunes 10.5 installed then your iPod is maxed out.

  • Need the fastest update from analog Measurement (DAQ) for controlling sensors that give direct feedback to motion control. Seems board limited? Fastest is about 1.5 milliseconds, can I go faster?

I have designed a sensor system for my linear motor stages that sends relative location back via an analog signal. My positioning speed is dependent on how fast I can read my sensor. Currently, my best implementation updates the software every 1.5 milliseconds. I would like to increase this by at least an order of magnitude. My DAQ is a 1600 series with 200K sample rate, so that is not my limit, my limit is to get it into my software. Any ideas?

    Hello;
To acquire data on a point by point basis will limit the sampling rate to how fast the OS can handle your process.
To speed up that rate, you will need to use buffering. That technique allows one to acquire data as fast as the hardware limit is, and store those points in a buffer.
You didn't tell what programming language you are using, but regardless the language, there are good examples showing how to program a buffered acquisition with your board (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\examples\ or in Labview Search Examples->I/O Interfaces->Data Acquisition->Analog Input->Continuous Analog Input).
    Hope this helps.

  • Mac Lion 10.7.3, LR 4.1, CS6, Canon 5D Mark III and all the plug ins upgraded! Need the RAW update!

My workflow has tripple because nothing wants to run smoothly! I am so bent because Adobe, Canon, Apple and every other plug-in software provider can't seam to get on the samer fricken page and I've spent BIG $ over the last 2 months trying to make everything run better... Where is the latest RAW?
I Purchased the Upgraded Adobe LR 4.1, CS6 Beta & got the Canon 5D Mark III, Mac Pro server update to Lion, WHEN is next dot release Camera Raw? My workflow has trippled in time because of this issue. I'm so frustrated with having to convert images in a slowed up piece of crap canon software package and then wait another decade for the newest LR to load the images I could crap fire! Come on Adobe, where's the release? After a few grand you'd think we'd get a better response time. As for Canon, they are not consistant with community software sharing and can kiss my *!! because to leave Adobe hanging sux!
There should be new laws that penalize jerks that screw with workflow!
Time is money, let's go Adobe!

    Let's see:
5 Minutes of research would have told you about 5DMKIII support availabitliy but that is too much time to spend additionally researching a 15K purchase.
You paid 79.00 for the LR Upgrade and 14,000 plus for the rest of the package.
You bought a camera that was released after the 79.00 software.
You are using a Public Beta for the other software (no cost to you)
A Camera Raw release candidate with support is availabe. I(again no cost to you
    Yet you say:
"Come on Adobe, where's the release? After a few grand you'd think we'd get a better response time. "
    So far, you've paid 79.00
Finally: this is a user-to-user forum-not a direct conduit to Adobe.

  • What are the differences between the Caching and the Software Update Services

New to working with OS X Server and am confused about the differences between the Caching Service and the Software Update Service...it seems to me that they overlap in that i) the Caching Service updates OS X software, iOS software and any apps purchased from the app store while ii) the Software Update service updates OS X software.
If the above is correct they why would one run both Services?  I would think that one would run the Caching Service and call it a day!
And while on the subject, what about caching and pushing third party apps like MS Office?

    Linc Davis wrote:
The simple answer is that you almost certainly don't need the Software Update service. Just use the Caching service. Neither one works with content that doesn't come from Apple.
Appreciate the response but could you please explain the difference between the two as that is the one item that remains unanswered.

  • X11 update 2006 kills open office 2.0.4?

Does anyone else have the problem where the X11 update 2006 kills open office 2.0.4? It was downloaded automatially thru my software update control panel and now open office doesn't want to open. The screen comes up like it's running and then it just goes away. Gimp seems to be working fine in the new updated X11, but open office 2.0.4 just quits. Any help would be appreciated...

At this point, NeoOffice seems OK. But OpenOffice has definately been killed by this update. I'm not very good at reading crash reports, but there is a lot of interesting looking stuff:

  • After updating libraries system still needs the old one.

Hi. Almost always when I upgrade library and som other packages, system still needs the old one but at the same time it needs the new one. Like when i updated gnome and libffi, it needs libffi.so.5 and libffi.so.6. When I run gnome-shell with libffi.so.5 I've got:
/usr/bin/gnome-shell: error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
When I upgrade it, new error appears:
/usr/bin/gnome-shell: error while loading shared libraries: libffi.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
It happend with more apps. I think something is wrong with my system and i don't know what.

I am using vim in the console but have gvim because it is compiled with X copy/paste support.
    /usr/local/lib is empty.
I just updated fully (included a gvim and vim-runtime update).
    I deleted the files I added earlier (libffi.so.5, libffi.so.5.0.10).
    I've also rebooted.
As you can see below, vim needs both libffi.so.5 and libffi.so.6.

and need the new iTunes 11.1 to be able to use my iPhone on iTunes but I need the new mac software update OXS 10.6.8, but my mac doesn't need or have an update what should I do! I'm upset :'(

    The requirements for iTunes:
    Macintosh System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
OS X version 10.6.8 or later
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Your Mac must be able to run OSX 10.6.8. If you can run that OSX then you can run iTunes 11.1.
    Which Mac do you have?
