Do you deploy WebForms as an Application service provider?

Hi forum.
I'm creating this post to getter a clearing view of something, which I have been wondering about for quite some time. Simply put - who is your user audience for your deployed WebForms applications - is it only used internally in your own company, or do you offer your WebForms application to external users through a ASP-based subscription model? (Application Service Provider).
I work for an independent software vendor, whose primary business so far has been to sell and support Forms 6i-based business applications, that connect to locally installed Oracle7 instances. We have, however, mainly due to Oracle's desupport of the client/server runtime seen ourselves forced to rethink our business and migrate our app to the web ASP-wise, as I believe it is the case for a lot of users of this forum, not sure though.
This, however, has not been without problems. One problem, that has come in focus in particular, is the issues regarding supporting all the different versions of the Java runtime environment (JRE) out there. We can easily ask our customers to install a specific JRE version, say 1.4.2, but sooner or later, a newer version will appear on the customer's PC, most likely through the dreaded feature of the JRE called Java Update, and then customers run our application in an unsupported environment - like the newly released 1.6 version. This is also the reason, that I need to test new Java versions, before Oracle will do it "officially". Our application has PJC's, which depend on core Java libraries only found in JRE 1.4 or later, so using JInitiator is out of the question.
Internally in a company, versions of JRE and other Webforms runtime parameters can most likely be controlled by sysadmin tools, but this is by the very nature not possible in an ASP environment. I'm curious to see, how common ASP-based WebForms actually is - let me hear about your real-world experiences please.

That is the login into the router itself. Most routers, in order to set them up the first time or after a reset or power fail, have this login procedure. You connect to the router login and configure the settings for your use.
Is this a new router or has it been recently reset in some way? As was written above if the router was provided by your isp then contact them for the setup procedures.
If the router is yours (or someone else's in your household) you need to look at the manual that came with it or go to manufactures website for instructions on how to set it up.

Definitely you can. On some operating system (like Windows), if relinking is part of the patch then you cannot apply patches unless Application services are down.
Whenever we apply a patch, we enable maintenance mode through adadmin, this would stop users from accessing the application during patch installation. However, you still can use "adpatch options=hotpatch" to apply a patch without enabling maintenance mode.

Cant install service provider foundation. need a little help

I have installed windows azure pack to my server for local use. And I came to find out that I need server provider foundation installed so I can connect to my hyper-v server via threw the cloud. When I go to install it I am asked to configure the database
server. I input the information for the SQl server and click next and no matter what I try I get the same err over and over. And it reads. "a network-related or instance- specific error occurred while establishing a connection to sql server. the serve
was not accessible. verify that the instance name is correct and that sql server is configured to allow re mote connections. (provider: tcp Provider, error: 0- no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.)"
My port is open for the 1433 on the server and I have installed system center and azure to the same sql data base. what is it that I am doing wrong.

Based on your description, you want to configure System Center Service Provider Foundation on a Windows Azure VM and the SQL Server instance which hosts the Service Provider Foundation database is installed on the same VM. If so, please refer to the following
steps to troubleshooting the connection issue:
1. On the SQL Server Configuration Manager, verify that the TCP/IP protocol is enabled.
2. Make user the service account has login permissions in SQL Server instance.
3. Browser Service running if you connect to named instance.

High Availabity Services & Provider Services

What are High Availability Services? What are Provider Services? Whether High Availability Servies exists in 9.3.1 version? If not why? Whether they are replaced by Provider Services?

Both are same tool name-
In version 9.0.0- we called it Analytic High Availabity Services.
In version 9.3.1- we called it Analytic Service provider
And in earliar version(7.x)- we called it Essbase deployment server.
Basically Analytic Service provider is a product of Analytic services(Essbase). This tool provides the connection polling, load balancing, failover support .
it handle the mutiple request of users and provide the access of essbase database.

Traffic Policing on Service Provider Edge router.

I'm confused about the traffic policing on service provider edge router. Suppose I have taken internet bandwidth from my ISP and he says that they will give me 100 Mbps bandwidth burstable upto 1Gbps. What does that mean? what is burstable here?
I would appreiciate if anyone from service provider organization, can give a output of their edge router's running config. I just have to understand how the police our traffic. Here I'm talking about the Internet leased lines.

This is probably something you will have to get your service provider to answer. Different service providers use the term burst in a different context. Some SP's are "NICE' and will setup no policer or shaper and will purely monitor the link for fair use allowing you to exceed what you have purchased as long as you don’t abuse the privilege. Other Serves providers may setup a dual rate policer with a CIR and a PIR to achieve the same. a 3rd scenario is as explained above where the SP will setup a policer for 100Mb/s and then calculate the burst value at 1/8 of a second (or less in some cases) which allows your traffic to burst to full line rate for that time slice,
There are other scenarios but the point I’m trying to make is that service providers don’t all do this the same way which is why you should ask them what they mean and how long your traffic would be allowed to burst to line rate.

Reporting Authorized Service Provider

Does anyone knows if there´s a place were I can report a bad Authorized Service Provider?
Apple´s official service it's supposed to be the best, but this happened to me yesterday:
I bought a new iMac Intel, 20". After a couple of months of use, the finder began to react a little slow, so I restarted from my CD.
The CD doesn´t works. My mac can´t boot from CD, so I went to the Apple Authorized Service Provider where I initially bought the computer.
The initial diagnostic was that someone swichted the CD, so I have a different one, but no the appropiate for this iMac. Anyway, they told me the computer must be in observation for a couple of days to check the internal CD unit. Then they gave me a receipt.
To my amusement, the receipt said it was a "G5 iMac" model, with scratches on it's surface and it's original install CD's. Then I protested for two reasons: the computer it's supposed to be brand new, no scratches at all were visible anywere. The second one it was 'cause it was an Intel mac, not a G5. But they insisted the computer's processor's was really a G5. This discussion lasted for about ten minutes. The final settlement it was that the computer will be registered as an "early 2006 model", with no mention at all of the type of processors or memory, but they insisted that the receipt should contain "tiny scratches" anyway, or won't be repaired.
When I protested, they told me they don't have any obligation to repair a computer without serial number. I didn't know anything about this, but they told me all iMacs have a little plaque at the bottom of it's base with their serial number. Mine didn't have any, and no signs of damage of scratches in this place, just a little squared empty space. They told me this serial number should match the one registered in the original invoice, the one I received when the original purchase was done.
And guess what? No serial number was in the invoice too!!!! When I proved to them that they sell me the computer with no serial number at all, I told 'em I will call consumer;s protection bureau and Apple, and then the discussion inmediately ended. They take the computer to service, with just one minor detail: initially they give me the receipt to accept the service in which they described what I gave to them, with no mention of any peripherals at all. After a couple of words, they included the original cables, keyboard and mouse in the list.
Just one last thing: The phones which appear printed in the original invoice does not exists. Their real phone number it's quite different.
In resumen: If the computer is new, can the Install CD's be switched? It's true that G5 it's the same as Intel core duo? Can an Authorized Apple Provider sell a computer without serial number?
So, if this is what you can expect from an Authorized Service Provider, can you imagine what can you expect from anyone else?
This post was deleted with no further explanations from this forums, so I inmediately spread it across the net. The mail version contains all information, adress and phone number of the Authorized Service Provider, pictures, and all appropiate information to identify him. It's now on a blog and copies were sent to news services.

No, an Intel Core Duo iMac is not the same as an iMac G5. However, the iMac G5 (Early 2006) and the Intel iMac are virtually identical to eachother. The way to tell them apart is to look at the bottom of the foot or to turn the computer on, click on the Apple logo and choose "About this Mac". Also, the original disks that came with these units are very different and wouldn't work with eachother.
I would recommend that you call Apple directly at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) to let them know about your experience and also to request new disks if you qualify. They should be able to answer most of your questions.

Just so you'll know Oracle9iAS also includes apache as the HTTP server.
As Suncan said, if you want to use Forms on the Web you need the Forms Server engine, and it comes bundled in Oracle9iAS. You'll save yourself a lot of headache if you just install Oracle9iAS and have everything pre-configured for you thus reducing maintanance costs.

How do you deploy Flex applications?

Hi All.
Flex is great! But... how do you deploy apps, especially when the environment changes?
I make use of "Import Web Service (WSDL)" to make the ActionScript framework for webservices which I consume. I have coded those web services in .asmx (c# web services for .NET) and run them locally. The framework Flex Builder creates is just fine, and I can run my app locally with no problem.
My intention is to distribute the database, the .NET webservices, and the Flex app as a complete solution to my end customers.
What's the best way to do this?
1. Using "Import Web Service (WSDL)" creates a framework around a named webservice. Upon deployment the URL for these changes. SO: How can you make it easy to switch the site the webservices are consumed from? Can Flex apps be set up to use an environment variable, or even read a local file for the URL of the webservice I want it to point at? (i.e. something in web.config or elsewhere?)
2. Should I NOT use "Import Web Service" at all? Am I stupid for using the built in generator and instead write the code by hand? Note: this is VERY time consuming for the number of services that are exposed in larger apps. My typical dev cycle consists of parallel updates/upgrades to web services as they are demanded by elements incorporated in the Flex app.. so it's very convenient to just re-import the WSDL as I make changes.

I have never really bothered with importing web services. I generally point my apps in the direction of my webservice by specifiying the url in my HTTPService tags. If the location changes , you can just load the values in xml , and it will dynamically change where the endpoint service is in your application.

I am new to Flash Media Server and I can't get my head around
this software.
How do you deploy the applications you build on your
development pc, onto an external server?
Do you have to have FMS running on the external server?
Or does FMS supply you with files that can be used on any
server?

The key thing to understand is that the Flash client (the
flashplayer) is what makes the connection to FMS. FMS and the .swf
don't need to be on the same server.
What you need to do is change your RTMP string in your
connect command. I"m guessing you're currently using localhost or a
LAN IP. Once you move the .swf to another server, you have to use
the WAN IP or domain name of the FMS server.
Once you have that taken care of, you can serve the .swf from
anywhere.

If this still needed. Take a look in Your WSDL file - any references to schemas etc. Are they accessible on server? For example - XSD file have absolute file system link - change it to project level import (copy xsd file to project) or publish to MDS.

About once a day, I get a notification, saying: "One or more applications/services require you to verify your Blackberry ID" There are two problems with this message: It does not tell you which application, could be BBM, Blackberry Protect, Blackberry World, anythingIf a user does not want a Blackberry ID, it should be possible to say "Never notify me again". It is very annoying for users without Blackberry ID to get this notification. Especially when you are in "Work Space only" mode, this notification is not wanted.This is an issue with notifications in general, you should be able to switch them off. For example, I don't want to get notified every time the device goes to Battery Saver mode. A "Never notify me again about this issue" option should be implemented.

First check is Java stack is running ?
make sure J2EE_ADMIN user not locked.
Ans please check password in secure area. check password in secure store should be correct.
may be you can try with restart of SAP and DB.
