Do you guys do Xbox 360 Slim Repairs?

so i have had my xbox for about 1-3 years now and about 2 months ago my xbox 360 slims laser burnt out. so i talked to a xbox support and i did what they said and they said send it in for $99 to repair. and after the call i accidently bumped into my xbox 360 slim and it fixed. but now its christmas and i got some new games. i tried them out it said the Open Tray Error. And i know its not the game its the xbox because these games are new (FIFA 15 and Madden NFL 15), And i bought them new. Well im kinda of mad because im not able to play my new games. And now i want to know if i can drop it off at my nearest bestbuy and see if they can replace the laser (disc reader). Or let GeekSquad fix it. i know for a price but i was just wondering how much and how long.
I would like to know asap. Thanks BestBuy!

Hi benmcelhaney,
I wanted to jump in here and offer a suggestion!
While the Geek Squad would likely not be of much assistance considering your Xbox 360 is out of warranty and it sounds like you didn’t purchase Geek Squad Protection, I’ve personally utilized Microsoft’s repair services and they have an option that may save you a bit of money.
Per Microsoft’s Xbox Repair Process, seen here, out-of-warranty repairs that are submitted online seem to be $79 plus tax, as opposed to the $99 price point if you submit the claim over the phone.
If you’re yet to seek repair on your console, I hope you find this to be a bit helpful!
Thanks,

  • Xbox 360 Slim

Hello, i just wanted to get some advice involving the xbox 360 slim. I currently own the original xbox 360(the white one) and i was wondering if i should get the new slim. Is there that much of a difference between the two? My xbox hasn't broke down on me for the past 3 years that ive had it and if i were to get the new one, could i trade mine in?

No you don't need to upgrade, the only difference is the fact that the slim one has built in wifi. I say if it aint broke then don't fix it, I think you'd just be wasting your money. Plus in about a year they're gonna be releasing a new Xbox so there's no point.

  • Using Macbook pro as an External HD for XBox 360 Slim 4G? Possible

Currently i own an xbox 360 Slim 4G model. I also own a copy of a game that needs about 16g of memoery so i cant store it on the xbox. Wondering if its possible to connect my xbox to my macbook pro and store the game on the computers hd and have the xbox 360 recognize it and still function through my xbox and tv. In essence as an external drive while still having full function. Is it Possible? Bridging perhaps? Help me out?!?!?!?

    No.

  • Xbox 360 Slim Restock?

I've been to every Best Buy near my place and I have had no luck finding a Xbox 360 Slim.  I wanted to buy one before Reach comes, so I was wondering when will Best Buy restock on Xbox 360 Slims?
    Thanks

    Hi WildCardGym,
Unfortunately we cannot provide information on future product availability on our forum. Your best option for more information would be to check with the manager at your local Best Buy®. I haven't heard anything about Xbox 360 availability difficulties so I'd have to think your store's stock should be refreshed soon!

  • Airport Extreme dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi & new XBOX 360 Slim

I'm having issues getting my new XBOX 360 Slim to connect to my dual-band Airport Extreme when using wireless n. I can get it to connect with n but my connection speed on the 360 drops to 1 or 2 mbps, even though the signal remains strong. I can see the speed drop of the 360 using Airport Utility on my laptop. All other devices on the network are fine. When I switch the 2.4 GHz band on the AE to b/g only, then the connection speed on the 360 shoots up to 54 mbps. That of course neuters the rest of my wireless n devices to g speed since most connect to the 2.4 GHz band due to the limited distance of the 5 GHz band.
Short of finding a solution, my next step is to try a different router brand. I'd rather stick with Apple, but have had more issues with 2 AE models than all of my other Apple hardware combined.

I had a three year old XBOX 360 before with a newer external n adapter. I use the 360 to do a lot of streaming video from my computers so the n definitely came in handy. The external n adapter worked great with the AE. Unfortunately that 360 died so I bought one of the new ones as a replacement. They must be using different hardware for their new internal n adapter than their previous external n adapter.
My first step will be exchanging the new 360 tonight to see if it is isolated to just that machine. If it isn't, I'm going to try a new Logitech router just to see if that makes a difference.
Again, I can maintain a connection to n just fine with the AE, but the speed is dismal. In g the speed and connection are just fine.
I have not tried disabling encryption simply because I wouldn't run my router without it.

  • Xbox 360 Slim Warranty Question

Well I would get a Xbox 360, but the thing bothering me is the RDOD, I know Microsoft gives you 1 year warranty, but still can you get a warranty from BestBuy for...lets say 3 years or so? If so, will it cover the RDOD? And how much would the warranty cost?

Since you are within the return policy, I believe the store may be able to offer you the option of taking advantage of the Trade -In promotion . Please connect with your local store directly and be sure to bring in the newly purchased item, the item you want to trade in and your receipts!

  • Xbox 360 slim will only connect to wireless-G interface on WRT160N

    Hello there:
I purchased a new Xbox360 Slim about a month ago. Before that, in prevision of my new console's wireless capabilities I went ahead and changed my old WRT54G (1.1) for a wireless-N enabled WRT160N router.
When I first plugged the console in it was a nightmare to configure the wireless settings..... It would NOT connect, in any possible way... And when I finally made a connection it just dropped after aproximately 1 hour (I think it had something to do with WPA key renewal, if you must ask) I updated the firmware and everything was smooth again. BUT! it only connects on wireless-G.... I've got the router set on "Mix" so it accepts my notebooks 802.11-G and my 360 wireless N, but it just detects the router in G mode and connects that way....
I've tried EVERYTHING, but nothing works.
It connects just fine, I even get open NAT on the console, and play online with no apparent problems, but I need wireless N because the router and 360 are too separated, and the signal tends to get low. Also I usually stream 1080p content so I need more bandwidth.
I tried setting the router to "only wireless N" but then the console just won't connect, says it "can't connect to the wireless hardware"
I haven't been able to test other wireless-N hardware, so I don't really know if it's the router's fault, the console's or it's just they're not compatible...
    Any tips?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Can't... My only two options are "automatic" or "only 20Mhz" ... :/ I can switch channels on 20Mhz only. But thanks for the tip.
    EDIT:
OMG, I can't believe it..... It's NOT a wireless N malfunction.... it has to do with security..... I had WPA Personal as my authentification method.... Under Mixed works like a charm, and everything connects, but the Xbox just connects on wireless G. Under Wireless-N only, it just won't connect. But I tried disabling security, and it just connected on wireless N!
Now I've switched to WPA2 personal.... it connects perfectly on Wireless N even if I set the router to "Mixed" and both channel and radio band to auto.
My issue is solved, however, I still got to know is:
Why won't it connect while WPA is selected?

  • Having issues with 2 xbox 360 slims connected with an Open NAT

I have 2 of the newer xboxes connected via an actiontec MI424-WR Rev. E and I'm having issues getting an Open NAT on either. 1 is connected via Ethernet and 1 is connected wirelessly. My router is also connected to my computer. I havetried portforwarding and using a dmz host on 1 resulting in 1 360 having an open NAT(wireless one) and the wired one having a moderate NAT. Anyway I could get them to work together without asking Verizon to send me a new router or buying a new one. Please help.

I am having this issue also.  I think the UnPNP is broken on the ActionTec.  I may be getting rid of FiOS for this reason.  I had 3 Xboxes working from my DSL connection and LINKSYS router no trouble.  Very disappointed !   I was hoping to get a poll going so I posted my similar issue.

  • Xbox 360 and Linksys E3000

    Hello,
I'm having quite some trouble with the new E3000 and my Xbox 360 Slim Model. I thought that the E3000 had like 4 antennas which should broaden the SSID Broadcast/Wifi Signal. Now when I try to scan for wireless networks on my Xbox360 it can't find the signal the E3000 is broadcasting. The E3000 is on the bottom floor and the 360 is on the first floor. Before this I had a WRT54G Linksys router and that one had no problem getting signal to the Xbox360. The E3000 shouldn't have this problem right, because it has more antennas. Another weird thing is that my laptop, which almost sits next to my 360, has no trouble at all finding the SSID/WiFi broadcast...
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I just want to connect my E3000 to my Xbox 360.
PS: I have upgraded to the latest firmware.

Xbox 360 and Linksys E3000Bad news guys. Whatever you were told about the xbox 360 being compatible with wireless n at 5GHz was probably misleading. Please work through the following link: Work your way through this:- http://www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/faqs/114-troubleshooting-and-improving-wireless
Pay attention to the following, and I quote from the above link:
"...The Internal Wireless N Adapter for the Xbox 360 S 250GB
As well as all of the points above to consider you also need to be aware that some Wireless N routers can work at 2.4GHz and 5GHz or both. <<<<The new internal Wireless N adapter will only work at 2.4Ghz>>>> so ensure you have this enabled. It has also been found that in some cases it does not work with WEP and prefers WPA2-PSK (sometimes called Personal) with AES encryption (not TKIP) so in summary for the internal wireless adapter these configureations seem to work best-"
We could have saved everyone a lot of time if the XBOX 360 support would have just admitted this from the start. NO 5GHZ compatibility from XBOX Wireless N adapter.
If there is a way to upgrade the wireless N adapter in the XBOX please post for the rest of us.

  • Using your MacBook Pro as a Router For the Xbox 360

Not sure how many of you guys have 360s, but I've written up a guide to use your MBP as a connection point for the 360. Basically it involves sharing your Airport with the Ethernet port. Here goes.
How to Use a MacBook Pro as an Xbox 360 Internet Hub v.01
This guide is copyright 2006 Jonathan Ferguson.
If you would like to host it, email me at the address below.
All trademarks are copyright their respective owners.
I am not responsible for anything that happens that may screw up your Mac, 360, Internet, or anything else.
By reading further you accept full responsibility for any damages or troubles that occur as a result
of your using this guide. K?
Welcome! I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and did not feel like shelling out 130 dollars for the
    360s Wireless Adapter.
Thus I set out to find a solution and it was my shiny new mac that came to the rescue.
I'm positive this can be done in Windows, but I've not taken the time (yet) to test it.
I think it's very simple to follow, but I do recommend that only those with patience and a will to learn attempt the setup.
Also if you don't know how to reset your router, I wouldn't recommend it either. But for the rest, on we go.
You will need these things for this adventure:
    Broadband Internet Access
    1 Xbox 360
1 CrossOver Cat 5 (NOT Patch, so NOT the one that came with the 360)
1 Macbook Pro (the regular Macbook may work, I haven't tested it)
1 Router with wireless and wired connections or 2 Routers linked together, one wired, one wireless.
Plug the cross cable into the ethernet port on the mac and the ethernet port on the Xbox 360. Turn both on.
Go to your system blade on the 360 into the network settings and go to the Sharing area of the
    System Preferences on the MBP.
On the MBP make sure that your Airport Extreme connection is being shared with the Built-In Ethernet
(check the box next to Built In Ethernet and hit the start button at the top.).
Go into Network under System Preferences on the MBP.
Pick Built In Ethernet in the Drop Down menu. Write down the Subnet Mask and IP Address for the adapter,
    you'll need that later.
Contact your router by punching it's IP into an internet browser. (I.E: 192.168.1.1).
This is usually the default IP for any router, so if you don't know what it is, try that one.
It'll also ask you for the password and username which are usually:
    Login: admin
    Pass: password
    Login:
    Pass: admin
    or
    Login: admin
    Pass:
Once you're in find the DNS Addresses (DNS 1 and 2)
(under LAN not WAN if they're different) and write those down. Now it's time to go back to the Xbox.
In the settings tab you'll find a lot of stuff has been set to automatic.
This will not help you, so start changing the things to manual.
Once you get in there, input each piece of information like so:
IP Address: Have a look at the address of the Ethernet Adapter.
Copy it digit for digit only make the last number lower than the last number of the Ethernet Adapter.
(I.E if the Adapter is 111.211.13.5, make the 360 111.211.13.4)
Subnet: This is the Subnet Mask you got from the Ethernet Adapter.
Gateway: This is the IP address of the Ethernet Adapter (NOT the address of your router)
DNS: These are the DNS numbers you got from your router.
Now, before you allow the Xbox 360 to test the connection, make sure that you have a
wireless internet connection coming in on the mac, and that you're sharing it with the ethernet card.
Also, though I haven't tested it yet, keep the Ethernet card on DHCP. Putting it on manual might mess things up.
Et Voila! Let the 360 run the tests.
There's one test that'll take extra long to do but don't fret, it eventually goes through and works splendidly.
I'll update this as I see fit, and feel free to email me at: [email protected] to add/correct/contribute.

Well that's nice and all, but why not just spend the 50 bucks on a router? Also, why do you need a crossover cable? Modern operating systems do not require crossovers anymore.

  • Xbox 360 / home hub 3 ethernet speed issues

    Some advice/help needed please.
I've connected by xbox 360 (slim) to my home hub 3 via Ethernet but it is connecting at random speeds.
Some days it connects at 100mb (which I would expect it to connect at), other days it connects at only 10mb!
I've tried using different ports on the back of the hub, making sure nothing else is connected but sometimes to no avail.
I know the xbox is 10/100 compatable and tries to connect at the fastest speed available but I just don't understand why sometimes it connects at 10mb and everything I try it refuses to connect any faster!
It's not like a pc where I can go into the network adapter to try to force connecting at 100mb.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

  • WRT 320N and Xbox 360

Hello, i've recently bought an xbox 360 slim console, and i can't get it connected to internet using my 320n router. i tried using a wired connection and it works perfectly, but when i try using wireless connection, i can't connect the console not even to the network. please help me. i'm a noob at this so please explain me so i can understand. thanks

Okay...One thing that happens sometimes is that Cable Modems will only remember one or two device MAC Addresses until its address cache is flushed and ignore any other attempts to acquire an IP Address after the fact.
    What I'd try next is...
    1. Hook the WRT320N up to your modem (I'm assuming you plugged your XBox directly back into the modem)
    2. Unplug the power to your modem, removing any batteries if it has any in it (typically if you have phone through your provider it will)
    3. Unplug the power to your WRT320N router.
    3. Leave them off for 2-3 minutes
    4. Plug the modem's power back in, let that boot up fully
    5. Plug the WRT320N's power back in, let that boot up fully
    6. Power off the XBox 360 for a good minute, then turn that back on
See if that does the trick.

How do I reserve an IP address for my XBOX 360 based on it’s MAC settings??
I went to Airport utility and went to DHCP tab under Internet. I have my wired MAC address from my Xbox 360, now where do I type it in?
Apparently this gives a more permanent IP to the 360 console, enabling me to get on Xbox Live.
Please clarify exactly how to reserve an IP address for my 360 based on its MAC settings.

Hello kaseychatila. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
How do I reserve an IP address for my XBOX 360 based on it’s MAC settings??
Here is how to reserve a DHCP-IP address for your Xbox 360 using the AirPort Utility.
Make sure you are connected (by wire or wirelessly) to the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS), and then, open the AirPort Utility. Select the AEBS, and then, select Manual Setup.
    Internet > DHCP tab
o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device, like Xbox 360>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
o MAC Address: <enter the MAC hardware address of the XBox 360>
o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address that you want the XBox 360 to get from the AEBS>
    o Click Done.
