Do you guys find....
Do you find that 8GB is enough memory for the iphone? I like my 16 GB ipod touch because i can have a few movies on there for when i really get bored and have my music. But on the iphone is only 8 gb which might fight 400 songs(all i need to have on it) and 4 movies.. I dont know how much space you need for the phone and stuff but i want some suggestions of what you guys think.

I have a 30GB iPod with video which can store all my music but not all video - I never needed nor listened to all my music with my iPod.
Currently I have the following stored on my iPhone:
Songs: 435
Videos: 11
Photos: 121
Available: 667 MB
The 11 videos comprise 7 TV shows (Seinfeld) that I ripped myself, a Saturday Night Live "Best of" special that is an hour and 15 minutes long purchased from iTunes, 2 movies purchased from iTunes - one two hours and 16 minutes long and the other one hour and 40 minutes long and one movie I ripped myself that is two hours and 4 minutes long.
The iPhone doesn't store all my music but I don't need or want it to either.

i recently lost my 3rd Gen iPod and ive been using find my iPhone to send messages to it, my email then instantly tells me that it had been displayed or it suonded off however it doesn't find the iPod's current location. you guys think this app actually works? i feel like my alerts are just bouncing back at me. please help. With both devices sitting side by side on my kitchen table, Location Services has NEVER shown the devices to be any where close to each other, and at times Location Services has been as much as a 1/4 of a mile off between the two devices.
Your iPod Touch has no GPS receiver so determining its location relies upon wireless routers whose location is known. Its "location" is actually that of a wireless router. Your iPhone 4 can use GPS, cellular triangulation, and Wi-Fi. One would think GPS would be most accurate but urban areas have a greater density of cells and GPS signals are easily obstructed so cellular triangulation is often more accurate.
Therefore the two devices' locations can be expected to be different. Differences of a quarter mile are easily explained if you understand how location services works: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1975

This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542

You guys really need to fix Messages.
The messages application within Mountain Lion is the most dysfunctional piece of software I've ever seen released, and not patched. Since ML was released, messages has been causing my 2011 MBP to freeze up on resuming and constantly locks up when I type something into the search field. If spotlight can index my entire harddrive, messages can index basic text messages. Also, messages is unable to send files at random times. The files transfer window shows all the files that had attempted to reach me, but their progress bars are stuck. Deleting .plist files for messages fixes this problem, but you should not have to do this. This program is absolutely unacceptable. You guys really need to patch this, or better yet, develop an entirely different messages. Something as simple as this program should have ZERO problems, especially being so late after its release. PLEASE FIX.

I see this effect in very many music videos and it makes them kinda look cool and professional. This light streaks usually, red, pink, purple used for transitioning between one cut to another. I know its not lens flare. Please check out this music video. You will see it. I want to know the name and how its done. That light streak is continuously used in transitioning.....

Don't you guys (staff) miss Cool Edit Pro's editing?
Hi, devs.
You guys might want to do some research on how all the former Cool Edit Pro users felt about the introduction of Audition's new way of navigating the interface. (referring to how you left and right-click in the standard edit view, and do that type of basic editing.) I haven't used Cool Edit Pro in long enough that my memory might not be 100% accurate, but I do at least remember never getting used to the new Audition-style gestures... (even when I switched back to the old-style right-clicking.)
Some of Audition's editing has bothered me for a long time. Audition surely brought advances to Cool Edit Pro, but it seems that a few of the most important things also took a slide.
Now that CS6 once again defaults to the Cool Edit Pro right-click (really nice), other oddities have arisen, like: when your sound is playing, left-clicking to change position does nothing at all, at least as far as I can tell. It puts a dotted line, but nothing can be done with it. If a sound is currently playing, the only way to jump to a different location is to completely stop the audio, click somewhere else, then play again. (Is that slow, or is that slow?) I think this at least needs some options under Preferences>>Playback.
Another angle to look at this is: find out if the majority of the Audition staff even like these changes, vs. Cool Edit Pro's style. I don't see how they could, at least if they were ever comfortable with Cool Edit Pro.
Update: (Also, what about using middle-mouse-click to move the Playhead (current playing location) without losing your selection? Currently, you have to click that bar at the top, which most users probably won't discover, unless they follow an actual training course. You need to find a way to get these things across to people, or the vast, vast majority of users - like myself - will be editing in "this program is junk" mode. I don't think it's junk, but that doesn't stop me from often having a hard time with new things that require psychic insight to understand.
Users aren't psychic. If you don't explain to them how to use features, then those features don't exist. (and if they aren't going to go out and find training material themselves, or read the help files, then you either have to provide something up-front yourself, or you're ruined. I think too many companies dont understand this. Autodesk seems to, providing videos that show the basics, right on the bootup Welcome Screen. I think that's very important.)Hi ZypKode, I couldn't help but reply to your post: Back before Win 95 I was using Digigram's Xtrack audio editor. It didn't run on Win 3.x because that OS wasn't capable enough. Win 95 just managed that when it came out. I looked at Cool Edit Pro around that time, and it was Ok. But for my work which was a lot of interview recording/editing plus radio programme recording in 4 track (2 tracks for voicing, 1 stereo track for music) Xtrack was way out ahead, in terms of multitrack capability but especially speed of work. Even the waveform display had several options apart from the standard full-wave that every editor, even today uses (Audacity offers a dB display which is better, but nothing like the old Xtrack offering). The option I always used was a half-wave display with just the outline, and it was logarithmic rather than linear. Result was that, without resorting to zooming in and out, you could see the noise floor, see the detail of the person's breath and lip-smack. With a little experience you could do most voice edits just by looking without even listening – which, of course, you did afterward, just to make sure :-) Producers used to look at me as if I was a magician when doing the edits like that. If Audition one day offered that as a waveform option, they could put it forward as a revolutionary new experience, since Digigram, better known for their high end audio hardware, dropped Xtrack a few years ago, being too small a company to compete with the big players.

UK Delivery - How long was it for you guys?
really didn't know where to put this topic, so sorry if it's in the wrong place.
Basically just curious to know how long delivery normally is, I ordered a quad G5 yesterday or so, order status says it should be shipped by Jan 12th, but while completing the order it said delivery should take 5-7 days, 10 days at most etc.. but i am finding it hard to believe in this day and age and from such a company like Apple that Next Day delivery wasn't an option.
Am i really going to have to wait a week for delivery?? bad enough having to wait a week for the building etc...? what length of time have you guys experienced from shipping to delivery?? i want my G5 now! :o

Estimated Shipping Date was 12th Jan.
Actual Shipping Date was 9th Jan.
The G5 was shipped via Kuhne & Nagel Spedition s.a r., the package was picked up from Cork, Ireland at 18:15. The remaining items were picked up by Flextronics c/o Express Cargo , i am unsure where it came from originally, but i assume it was these items that caused the slight delay. As all items need to accumulate in one place before being handed over to UPS or TNT.
I called Apple yesterday (12th Jan) they had no extra information than that on the Tracking page, and said delivery was estimated for 17th Jan, but he said could come sooner, which it did, it arrived today (13th Jan).
Early this morning, the Tracking page changed. All the items, except the PC, were under the Carrier name of FLEX POST & HUB UK.. this changed to APPLE EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA, and new tracking numbers had been applied to ALL the items. After some googling i discovered the new numbers belonged to UPS.. a quick visit to their website turned up some results. They had revieved the packages yesterday, and had been sent out for delivery this morning...
Packages recieved at 12:05 13th January. So for me build time was 3-4 days, and shipping was 3-4 days. All under the estimates. I think the ipod and the extras that resulted in the 1-2 delay, from what i've read apart from John Keith's experience, is that shipping usually takes no more than 3days after you get the shipping confirmation.
All in all very happy, Apple's tracking page should display more and update more, a fair majority of the info i recieved was due to a lot of googling and trial and error. I've yet to open the pc and monitor so can't comment on the state, read some horror stories so am waiting with trepidation mixed with huge excitement!!!

Sorry if off topic. I use premiere cs4 and AE. I work for a non-profit org so all my work is for them. I would like to start doing small projects outside of work. I placed ads on craigslist but all i seem to get is spam replys. production hub seems slow. How do you guys put yourself out there? I don't really have any connections.

In my case, most of my clients come either from my still client-base, or via word of mouth. Many of the latter seem to come from my circle of "friends," and from people related to my social endeavors, i.e. networking.
One possibility would be to offer to do pro-bono editing for other not-for-profit groups. With permission, add full credits, including contact info. I sit on a few charity boards and we often do some major AV productions for the events. As these involve much more than just editing, and I also have a full "dance card," we use some pro-bono (in kind donations) productions. All of our printed materials have full credits to the production houses, and we ask that each do a full credit portion. For materials that we hand out at the events, or use in pre-event promotion, we ask that those production houses put their credits on the printed discs. This obviously helps us (pro-bono production), so we want to help them. I will also donate editing time, where appropriate, to those suppliers, should they need additional work.
Back when I was shopping my portfolio more actively, I donated my services to organizations like the Denver Art Directors Club, and the Denver Ad Federation. I picked up dozens of clients from the donated projects. It also gave AD's and Creative Directors an opportunity to work with me on the pro-bono projects, so that they knew my capabilities and personality - at no charge to them.
Lot of good comes from doing a "favor" under the right circumstances.
