Do you have to finalize before you export to quicktime?

do you have to finalize before you export to quicktime?

No. They are basically doing the same thing.
Finalize is an export using QuickTIme, using certain presets (h.264) in all available sizes. And you don't get to specify where it is saved. It is saved in the Project Package, and is accessible to all the iLife Apps through the Media Browser.
With Export to QuickTIme you have flexibility to render in many video codecs, many audio codecs, and you can tweak the settings,

  • Can you export a Quicktime with multiple audio tracks?

I have a video with split audio tracks.
I'd like to archive a copy that retains all the individual tracks so that other people could just open the file later and not have to reconstruct the tracks (i could certainly archive all the tracks individually).
the problem i'm having is that FCP seems to only want to allow me to export 2 tracks of audio. I may be missing a setting, but i'm not sure.
I can digitize a clip from a digibeta with 4+ tracks, and when i open the clip in QT, it recognizes the individual tracks, so it seems as if the capabilities are there.
have they just not been integrated yet?

Something is being miscounted here. You say you have dialog on 1+2 and then say you have M&E on 2+3? I think you meant to say 3+4 and the stereo mix will be on 5+6. The easiest way to do this is to copy tracks 1-4 to tracks 5-8 by shift-option-dragging them there. Holding option will copy the tracks instead of moving them and holding shift will insure that the tracks will not move earlier or later. Then send 5+6 (dialog) to the 5+6 output (using the info in the above referenced discussion) and send 7+8 (music&effects) also to the 5+6 output. Done.

  • Trying to Export to Quicktime Movie.

I have tried several times to export to Quicktime but nothing
happens. The progress bar shows Recording movie and then freezes. I
have tried renaming the file in a different name as I heard there
were issues with this, but still no joy. Can anyone help me
    pleaseeee!

I am trying to export a movie from QuickTime Pro to an an AVI file
AVI is just a container ... specifically, which codec are you using when exporting? And why export to AVI?
QuickTime gives me the option to save the video straight from the web, but as soon as I turn off my AirPort it tells me that I need internet to continue watching the movie
That usually means that your system doesn't have the codec installed needed to view the video, but your web browser is using a plugin that does. What format are the web videos? Flash?

  • Black Screen when Exporting to Quicktime

I have a finished project - but when I try to export it to quicktime its always a black screen. Ive tried a bunch of different settings - but always the same result. Im sure theres something simple I am doing wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you!

    What were the project settings?
    What version of FCP?
    What camcorder?
How did you "export to quicktime?"
What "bunch of different settings" did you use for what?
We can't see these things from here, and your post has to detail what you did with what.

  • Gamma and Exporting thru Quicktime

Apparently, when you export thru Quicktime, it modifies the gamma according to the codec used. How can I have a consistent gamma when importing-exporting UNCOMPRESSED 1920-1080 @23.98 image sequences?

    Hi John,
the uploading to .mac usually uses a sorenson codec in a .mov container.
That can be watched on PC just when the free Quicktime Player for Windows is installed. does your friends have done that...?
… It tells them they're missing some compressor. Downloading the newest version of QT does not help either. …newest version for PC or on your Mac's side?
QT7 offers now the brandnew h.264 compression codec... this isn't supported on the Windows side yet (just experimental/beta)... so using the "latest" is maybe the wrong way...
in the iM export dialog you'll find the option ".avi" (PC container + sorenson codec)… try that for a mail (big files!) and your friends should see your movie...
and tell them, they shall buy a Mac, hey, c'mon!
you can offer downloads of your project on .mac, but not as convenient as the "upload to" function. ... but that is another cup of tea......

  • Exporting on quicktime pro

When you export on quicktime pro there are two problems i am looking for a solution to.
    1. when quicktime exports large viedio files there is no audio
    2. is it faster to use quicktime pro, imovie, or a pc program any sugestions?

If your files are MPEG (1 or 2) formats an export from QT Pro will only yield the video.
Sometimes a file has the .mov extension but it contains "muxed" format tracks. You can see the format (and the codecs used) by opening the Movie Info window.
Mac users can use MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) to convert MPEG-1 files to QuickTime formats. MPEG-2 files (those ripped from DVD's) require the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).

  • Canon HF-200 1080i50 - Looks good in FCE but Export to Quicktime is jerky

    Hi,
Title says it all really. I have FCE 4 and over the weekend I picked up a Canon HF-200 (PAL UK version). I am sort of impressed by the quality of the camera - I will probably post about that soon - but I have a real issue with 'Export to Quicktime' (the uncompressed MOV file).
I have the 'easy setup' set so that its 1080i50. I used Log and transfer. I dragged a couple of clips onto the sequence (which looks great - perfect playback on the Viewer etc), saved the project, chose to Export the sequence. It gave me a huge file as expected but its jerky and pixelated during movement. A similar test with 25p clips worked fine - the Quicktime Movie looks as it did on the viewer.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I also get the same problem. Just bought Canon HF 200 1080i50 European PAL model.
And i've filmed a bunch of test videos 50i fps and 25p fps.
And started to import in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5.
    Video settings:
    Sequence Preset: Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 50i 48kHz
    Capture preset: HDV-Apple ProRes 422
And it all seems so weired:
Clips captured at 50i - looks interlaced and jagged - when i look at Item properties, there is Vid rate: 25fps Field Dominance: None ????????
    but
Clips captured at 25fps - looks OK - when i look at Item properties, there is Vid rate: 25fps Field Dominance: Upper (Odd) ????????
This all is not right .... there should be where 50i Field Dominance and not with 25fps

  • Do you have to render before you export?

If you have a sequence w/ effects, filters, etc...do you have to render the whole thing out before you export...my guess is no, but just checking...
    Thanks

  • How do I add silence to the beginning of a track? Before the 10.0.3 update, you could drag the region further into the timeline and it would automatically create silence before the track plays when you export it. What am I missing?

Before the 10.0.3 update, you could drag the region further into the timeline and it would automatically create silence before the track plays when you export it. What am I missing? How do I i do this in the current version of Garage band?

what is the problem? Can't you drag the audio region to the right, or is the silence at the beginning of the track missing?
You could mark the measures you want to export by the Cycle region. Then any beginning silence will be included.

  • Can you have anything play before the DVD Menu using Premiere Elements 9?

    Hi,
I'm new to this and creating a DVD with photos and video from my sister's wedding.  Does anyone know if you can have anything play before the DVD Menu appears?
    Thanks,
    Angie

Many of us use DVD Architect Studio as a supplement to Premiere Elements, because it's such a powerful DVD authoring app and it only costs $39 when yo download from Sony Creative Software.
I've written a book on DVD Architect Studio 4.5 -- and my new book for DVD Architect Studio 5 will be available on Amazon.com at the end of this month.
And, yes, it absolutely shows you how to add a video clip before your menus!

  • Do I have to render first before I export?

Do I have to render first before I export? Or can I export without rendering? And will exporting take care of all the necessary rendering? I have done it both ways and it doesn't seem to make a difference, but I was wondering what is the preferred method.

    Kevan D. Holdsworth wrote:
I'm not really saying to render or not to render. I just remember discussions about this a couple years back...conventional wisdom being seeming to indicate that if you're exporting to Compressor, you benefitted from NOT rendering, because Compressor then wasn't encoding 'altering' a signal that was already rendered 'altered' (depending on effects/treatment of video in the timeline, rendering altered the native state of the media.)
Yeah Kevan, unrendered sequences sent directly to Compressor produce better quality -- for FCS 2009 too -- but only when exporting sequences with very compressed codecs (DV, HDV) out to MPEG-2 files (e.g., for DVD). Even then, sequences need to have serious compositing or color-correction work done in FCP (meaning layers and/or filters) for it to be worthwhile.
There is NO benefit to doing this (for any sequence codec type or composite level) when exporting out to h.264, to use another common export format as an example, at least in my experience.

  • How do you export a pdf from acrobat dc to dropbox on a mac

I have been using dropbox for years and have never had a problem exporting a pdf to it until I got Adobe Acrobat DC.  Please tell me how to export to a dropbox file.

"stored on acrobat" – PDF files in your acrobat.com account ("Files" or "Workspace")?
If so then you can access those from your install Adobe Reader Mobile app.

Once accessed it is simply easy to transfer the PDFs to the iPad.

  • How do you export messages from Ovi Suite?

As the title says, how do you export messages from Ovi Suite?
I know how to export messages from Nokia PC Suite, but it doesn't seem to be possible in the new Nokia Ovi Suite.
Here is how I would do it in the Nokia PC Suite.
    1. I click the Messages icon to open Nokia Communication Center.
    2. I click on the Messages option on the left pane to view only messages.
    3. In the main window I mark the messages I want to export.
    4. Then I go to File menu and chose Export.
    5. Choose destination folder and I'm all set to export my messages from my Nokia.
I can chose between the formats CSV and VMG (vMessage) for export. If more than one message is marked only the CSV format is available. But what you can do to export several messages in the VMG format is to mark them all in the main window and press CTRL+C or right click and chose Copy to copy them all to RAM memory. Then all you have to do is create an empty folder on the desktop and paste them in there by pressing CTRL+V or right clicking and chosing Paste.
That's all there is to it, using Nokia PC Suite. So how do you do this in Nokia Ovi Suite? You don't, right?
And this **bleep** Ovi Suite is supposed to replace PC Suite?
Thank God I won't be needing neither of them much longer. I am switching to Android and HTC. Good luck with Ovi, the Ovi Player, the Ovi Suite, the PC Suite, the Symbian, the S60, the Symbian^1 (S60 5th edition), the Symbian^3, the Symbian^4 and what not.

I believe OVI took a step in the right direction with this option. I also believe it was made available due to the fact that OVI Suite cannot take a huge number of messages altogether. This option was made available so that the messages could be backed up.
However, I'd like to suggest the following, if possible.
    1. Make Nokia OVI Suite be able to handle a huge number of messages.
    2. Have the option to export only selected messages.
