Do you have to have a .Mac account to post here

Just woundering if you have to have a .Mac account to post in the Apple discussion forum.........my membership will expire soon.
Thanks

You don't need a .Mac to post here, but you DO need an Apple ID.
I have used .Mac since it was first offered free with...I think it was with OS8.5
I now pay for it and find it a great way to share photos etc with others. I also back up important stuff to the account. The BIG advantage for me is that I have been able to keep the same email address for a LONG time...even though I've switched ISP's numerous times. The @mac.com address is worth the $99 a year for me.

  • Can you have 2 iTunes accounts on one MAC Desktop

    I have a MAC Desktop which my husband and I share. We each have our own Itunes accounts, mine which is stored on an old Mac Book Pro with issues. In order for me to use the cloud I need to get my Itunes account onto the desktop. This laptop can not be updated to the icloud becasue of its problems. We can share the contacts and the calendar from the desktop, but we each have our own music. Can you have 2 itunes accounts on one desktop?

    Yes. Use separate Mac OS X user accounts, or launch iTunes with the Option key held down as needed.

    Hi, I may suggest to activate the root account and try the uninstall process from that account. To do so, you have to:
    Go to System Preferences a open up the Users pane;
    On the left side of the pane, you shuold see Login Options;
    Enabled editing option clicking on the lock (it will ask your password);
    Once the pane is enabled, you should see something like Server Account Network (sorry my OS is in italian, so I don't exactly know the right translation), and right next to it a button;
    Click on that button, and a new pane shows up. Click on Open Directory Utility, and on the upper bar of OS X click on Edit;
    Select Enable Root Account (you can set a password, or not);
    Done that, you should log out and when the login window show up, type on the user field "root" and the password you choose;
    Theorically, from this account you will be able to unistall the application.
    After completing your task, I reccomend you to disable the root account, just by loggin in your personal account and repeating the steps I described before. Hope it helps

    Can you have two itunes accounts on the same computer and if so how do you access them without syncing each others music?

    Yes. Use separate iTunes libraries(launch iTunes with the Shift(Windows) or Option(Mac OS X) key held down as needed), or different user accounts on the computer.

    Do I need to have a .MAC account in order for me to purchase a photo book?

    No. You do need an Apple ID, which is the same thing you'd set up to buy content on iTunes or stuff from the Apple store online. This doesn't cost you extra, e.g. $99 for a .Mac account, but you do need to set it up with a credit card.

  • TS3276 can you have multiple exchange accounts in mail in mountain lion

    can you have multiple exchange accounts in mail in mountain lion

    Just use IMAP for the accounts. I have 4 Exchange accounts in my Mail app and they are all set up that way. but yes, there can only be 1 Exchange account (which I believe has more to do with the Exchange API than Macs)
    hope this helps.

  • Can you have 2 iCloud accounts on one device, i would like to share photo stream with my wife but not calendar, contacts

    How do you setup 2 icloud accounts on one phone.  I would like to do that to separate contacts/calendars from photo stream.  I have a shared photo library that i would like to be able to access from each phone.  How do you do it?
    Thanks.

    I don't think there is a method cause when you have 2 iCloud account you double the memory given by them (5gb) and if you want more memory you have to pay so I don't think apple might have a loop in that :p bu if you want to share pics then you can always use luthoot enabled apps

    can you have 2 itunes account on the same computer?

    Yes, go to your Windows Control Panel and create another user,log into it, run iTunes and it's ready to rock and roll.
    Transfer your content over via USB Key, Dropbox or external drive.
    Heck the best thing would be to File > Backup library to disk with a bunch of DVD-R's, therefore you get a backup in the process!
    Good Luck

  • HT2105 When you get a apple receipt for itunes songs and you paid with a itunes gift card do they charge you or give you store credit what's store credit is it good or bad or does it charge you if you have a free account with no credit cards at all is it

    When you get a apple receipt for itunes songs and you paid with a itunes gift card do they charge you or give you store credit what's store credit is it good or bad or does it charge you if you have a free account with no credit cards at all is it bad?

    iTunes credits are, for example, if you download a song from the store and it's found to be corrupt - if the track can't be fixed then iTunes support will tend to give you a song credit for a free download.
    When you purchase music from the store then any credits that you have will be used first, then any balance that you have (e.g. from iTunes gift cards or allowances), and any remaining amount will be taken from your credit card.

  • Trying to downgrade MacBook Pro (13" mid 2010) from lion back to snow leopard. Error: you have install Mac 23.1

    Upgraded to lion, thought it was going to be the hip new thing but I can't stomach it. Time to go back home.
    The problem I'm having is that I can't run the snow leopard disk no matter how hard I try.
    I tired booting to the cd and I got that pleasantly multi lingual message telling me "you must restart your computer"
    I wrote the disk image to a USB and got the same massage when I tried to boot to it.
    When I try and run the disk from the desktop I get the grammatical masterpiece of an error message "you have install Mac os x 23.1"
    My computer is boot camped if that makes a difference at all, and I don't care about my data I have it manually backed up (not tm).
    How I can snow leopard 10.6.8 again?

    First, do you have a backup? If so then you can just boot from your Snow Leopard disc, re-initialize the hard drive and install SL anew, then restore from an older backup (assuming you have one?).
    Clinton
    P.S. You might be able to install without wiping your hard drive. To see, just use your SL disc and try to reinstall. I don't know - I've only gone back-in-time with TM since getting a new Mac with Lion installed.
