Do you have to have an app to print from the ipad?

I want to be able to print from my iPad, do I one have to have an app? and 2 does it matter the brand of the wireless printer?

If you have one of the printers that supports AirPrint then you don't need an app - those that support it are listed on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Otherwise some printer manufacturers have their own app, and there are also third-party apps which work with some printers e.g. Print Central For iPad and Print n Share

Not with the built-in AirPrint print function. However, you can download free and cheap print apps that can provide some (limited) printing abilities. HP's iPrint is one of those.

This printer has worked for me with out fail at my house. I am traveling in an RV and am at the mercy of the RV Wifi. I do not have access to the router. The printer has been recycled a number of times as well as the Ipad. The printer is set up and has access to the wifi. Can you print from the iPad?

I ordered my iPad on 6/7 but won't get it till 6/24, its on back-order, DARN!! Anyway I have what may be a silly question: Can you print from the iPad using a USB cord from the printer? I pay bills online and like to have a hard copy of the receipt. Really looking forward to getting it.

To gloworm: regarding working with only one app open at a time, that should be taken care of when OS4 is available for the iPad - supposedly in the fall. As for using Air Sharing to print, you have to 1st get your files into the app via wifi from your computer. I have Air Sharing for both my phone and iPad and really like it. Once your files are in the app you just bring them up and touch the bottom left corner of iPad to bring up print. You can then print to any shared printer. I also use PrintCentral and like it for printing as well.

Unfortunately, no you can't with the built in calendar app. Take a look at some of these apps. One of them may work for you.

I have the kindle app on my iPad. I downloaded a kindle version of a songbook. I would like to print out a few pages of the music. I cannot download the file to my computer and cannot print from the iPad as the page format does not allow it.

One work around is, if the Kindle app allows, make a screen cap of the page and print that.
Hold down the sleep and home keys and relase them together....kinda like you'd press the shutter of a camera, a joint quick down and up
You'll see a white flash and hear a shutter sound. Then look in your photos app and you'll see the images. You can print them just like you'd print a photo.

Can you have more than one account on the ipad?

I'm looking into using the ipad in our manufacturing facility, with more than one user on a single ipad.
Can you have multiple user accounts on it, and if not how would you set up email with multiple accounts where one user can't access another's account?
Any info would be appreciated.

If each employee uses a web-based email system such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, and others, and makes a point of NOT automatically saving ID and password, each user would use the Safari browser to access email, privately and confidentially. That also allows viewing email folders created in the webmail account that are not visible in the Mail app using a pop mail server.

You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.

HT4356 Do I need an App to print from my iPad to my new HP AirPrint capable printer? My iPad says it can't find a printer and we are on the same network.

I have a new HP LaserJet M1217nfw MFP that is supposed to have air print. My iPad isn't reading it. Is there something special I need to do? Both are on the same network and my laptop is working fine with it. Any suggestions?

I hope there is as it would be a huge omission on apples part especially as we're supposed to be "post PC".

Edited images from the iPhoto app can be saved to the Camera Roll. Images from Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Synced with iTunes or just imported from a camera card can be ordered via this newly released free app:

Yes, you should be able to do that easily provided your home network can handle it.
If you are trying to do this by using the Airplay icon you can't.
The correct way to do this is to access the iTunes library via AppleTV using its Computers menu.

"You Have 3 Apps to Accept" ?

When I click "Puchases", the resulting display has a section headed "You Have 3 Apps to Accept" (see the attached screenshot)
I already have those apps installed, not via the App Store but from several releases of the OS over the years.
When I click "Accept", the standard dialog appears asking me to enter my AppleID & password.
I do, and the "Accept" button dims, and a busy cursor appears. After a *long* wait, the "busy" cursor disapears and the "Accept" button turns dark grey again.
Nothing else.
Clicking it again brings up the signin dialog again, and the whole process repeats. Over & over again.
Shut the computer down and reboot, open the App store, and nothing has changed -- the same "You have 3 Apps to Accept" message.

When I bought this iMac it came equiped with 10.6. (Snow Leopard). I also had a MBP with 10.6 installed for which I had purchused and installed the boxed iLife DVDs as when I bought the MBP was prior to iLife being included.
When I started the new iMac the Setup Assistant asked if I wanted to transfer my apps/data/settings from another machine so I did from the MBP via FireWire. Maybe the Setup assistant overwote the iLife apps preinstalled?
BTW, this message from the App Store about accepting them is brand new -- I don't recall ever seeing it prior to now but I propbably haven't cliccked "Purchases" since maybe upgrading to 10.8.6.
OK, here's the real kickers:
(1) The Software Update function of the App Store continues to correctly offer me and perform updates to these components.
(2) On my MBP, which was recently updated to 10.8.5 too, the App Store doesn't display any dialog about "accepting" the iLife applications -- it just lists them as "Installed" (which they are).
So, how do I fix whever is wrong with the App Store or the iLife installation?

When you print from an ipad, can you print to the 8x11 tray?

My grandfather has an ipad and an hp photosmart printer. When we print from a computer, it goes straight to the 8x11 tray and prints on normal sized paper. When we print from the ipad it goes straight to the photo tray and prints on photo paper. I know that for iOS, airprint doesn't support tray selection and just prints to whatever tray 1 is. Is there a way to change it on the printer so that the 8x11 tray reads as tray 1 and we can print from the ipad to the regular printer paper? We've tried just removing the photo tray, and that doesn't work.

Well luckily you dont have to go changing any settings to default specific trays to different settings. Just download the HP Home and Biz app from the app store for free. It has the ability to set the paper size used
