Do you have to render before you export?

If you have a sequence w/ effects, filters, etc...do you have to render the whole thing out before you export...my guess is no, but just checking...
Thanks

  • Do I need to render before export?

Coming from the old video software, this was the case. However, now I have background rendering turned off. Do I need to manually render before I export the video, in order to get the color grades, transitions, etc? Or does export automatically render it for me?

    Never thought about that....
OK, for 'real time'-playback of such a scene
made of six green screens stapled together, you have to render.
… if you're using just one extHDD, connected via usb3... (we're on a small budget)
For scenes with less demand of computation power, like this…
    no rendering needed.....
(pics from one of our school projects…)
but habitual rendering...c'mon, fellas, seriously ??

  • Do i have to render every time??

i have a simple piece of text in my browser (named the default name "text") that i use over and over in lots of sequences. i stuck a drop shadow in and now i have to render every time? is that right? i didn't have to render before; is there a way to just render the one time?
    thanks!

Create your title, put it in and empty timeline, but do NOT render it.
    File>Export>QuickTime Conversion.
Set the format type to QuickTime. Click on Options and set the codec to Animation. Set Colors to Millions+. Export.
When you bring this back into your project and put it over video in the timeline, it will still have to be rendered to composite over video, so I'm not sure it will gain you anything.

  • CS4; do I have to render each sequence?

I have 7 sequences, and wonder if I have to render each one individually, prior to sending to Encore via Dynamic Link?

If the underlying media (sequences and/or clips) need to be rendered but aren't, FCE will have to render them during export. Not the ideal time to be rendering, as it will at a minimum increase your export time. Plus if you export unrendered material to a QT reference file, the rendered material will be put in the reference file itself. Not what a reference file is intended for.
You should investigate why your second sequence needs to be rendered if the material in sequence 1 did not need to be rendered. Does sequence 2 have a different sequence setting (easy setup)? Did you apply filters to the items in sequence 2? You mentioned adding graphics - if they are non-standard size and you allowed FCE to autoconform the sequence (#2) when you inserted the graphics clips, that could be the cause of the need to render everything.
With FCE, it is best to have all media clips be the same codec (DV or AIC) and frame size - it minimizes problems. Also render as you go along, not at export time.

  • Do I have to render every sequence?

So here's the situation, and I am trying to obtain as close to HD as I can.
I import my ACVHD footage from my sony cameras into FCE. I then place these into my timeline which I name Sequence 1. I move them around and edit how I'd like. Then I create a new sequence which I call Sequence 2. I drag Sequence 1 down into my Sequence 2 time line so I have a nice clean work space on one track. I then add a few graphics here and there. For purpose of this question, I know my graphics should have been the correct sizes but they are what they are. Sequence now is entirely red barred for me to render, but I don't. I then create another new sequence which I will call Sequence 3. When I drage Sequence 2 from my browser into Sequence 3, that too is red barred. But I add some more graphics into Sequence 3. Now I render Sequence 3 so all is good. So I want to export Sequence 3 into a quicktime movie. Since Sequence 3 is fully rendered, do I need to have Sequence 2 rendered to obtain maximum quality? Or since Sequence 3 is comprised of Sequence 2 as long as I export Sequence 3 everythign is all good? Or do I need to render each sequence as I build the project?

  • Do you have to finalize before you export to quicktime?

do you have to finalize before you export to quicktime?

No. They are basically doing the same thing.
Finalize is an export using QuickTIme, using certain presets (h.264) in all available sizes. And you don't get to specify where it is saved. It is saved in the Project Package, and is accessible to all the iLife Apps through the Media Browser.
With Export to QuickTIme you have flexibility to render in many video codecs, many audio codecs, and you can tweak the settings,

  • Do I have to render first before I export?

Do I have to render first before I export? Or can I export without rendering? And will exporting take care of all the necessary rendering? I have done it both ways and it doesn't seem to make a difference, but I was wondering what is the preferred method.

I'm not really saying to render or not to render. I just remember discussions about this a couple years back...conventional wisdom being seeming to indicate that if you're exporting to Compressor, you benefitted from NOT rendering, because Compressor then wasn't encoding 'altering' a signal that was already rendered 'altered' (depending on effects/treatment of video in the timeline, rendering altered the native state of the media.)
Yeah Kevan, unrendered sequences sent directly to Compressor produce better quality -- for FCS 2009 too -- but only when exporting sequences with very compressed codecs (DV, HDV) out to MPEG-2 files (e.g., for DVD). Even then, sequences need to have serious compositing or color-correction work done in FCP (meaning layers and/or filters) for it to be worthwhile.
There is NO benefit to doing this (for any sequence codec type or composite level) when exporting out to h.264, to use another common export format as an example, at least in my experience.

  • How do I add silence to the beginning of a track? Before the 10.0.3 update, you could drag the region further into the timeline and it would automatically create silence before the track plays when you export it. What am I missing?

Before the 10.0.3 update, you could drag the region further into the timeline and it would automatically create silence before the track plays when you export it. What am I missing? How do I i do this in the current version of Garage band?

what is the problem? Can't you drag the audio region to the right, or is the silence at the beginning of the track missing?
You could mark the measures you want to export by the Cycle region. Then any beginning silence will be included.

  • Can you have anything play before the DVD Menu using Premiere Elements 9?

    Hi,
I'm new to this and creating a DVD with photos and video from my sister's wedding.  Does anyone know if you can have anything play before the DVD Menu appears?
    Thanks,
    Angie

Many of us use DVD Architect Studio as a supplement to Premiere Elements, because it's such a powerful DVD authoring app and it only costs $39 when yo download from Sony Creative Software.
I've written a book on DVD Architect Studio 4.5 -- and my new book for DVD Architect Studio 5 will be available on Amazon.com at the end of this month.
And, yes, it absolutely shows you how to add a video clip before your menus!

  • Do I need to render before exporting?

I have just put together a small project with three sequences in it. Nothing crazy, renders in about an hour on a PB G4/1Ghz. My question though — do I need to render before exporting to a Quicktime movie? Or will it render automatically before exporting?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

On a PB/G4, an hour isn't that bad. I started editing on Sawtooth G4s, and had render times of 2-3 hours for not much video. Of course, it all depends on titles, layers, effects, etc.
Well, if you think about it, exporting a movie to Quicktime IS rendering. I don't think FCP is going to stick a blue "Unrendered" box in, or encode at Dynamic RT quality when making a movie file.

  • Thumbnails must render before export? Need workflow advice.

I am trying to figure out if there's a way that I can speed up my workflow.
    1. Shoot a timelapse sequence (let's say 500 frames)
    2. Import as .dng with 1:1 preview & smart preview generation
    3. Make edits to frame #1
    4. Copy settings on frame #1
    5. Paste settings to all frames
Now here's the tricky part. I will wait for the progress bar to declare that it has finished pasting all of the settings to the remaining frames BUT the gallery previews still look like they did at import. LR5.5 dutifully begins to render the changes one by one.
If I have 50 of the frames visible then the 50 thumbnails will get updated. If I command-A (select all) and export all 500 frames at this point then I will always have some of the frames come out completely unprocessed - just as they were at import.
The only way that I have figured out how to avoid this is to scroll down in the gallery to a fresh set of 50, wait for them all to get new thumbnails rendered, scroll to the next set of 50, and so on. Once I've confirmed that all of the thumbnails have rendered then I can export with 100% success.
Is this expected behavior? What can I do to speed up this painful workflow?
I am working on a brand new Mac Pro 6,1 (cylinder) with 6-cores and 32GB of RAM. These files are stored on thunderbolt 2 while the previews and library are stored on the very fast built in flash storage.

I am trying to figure out if there's a way that I can speed up my workflow.
    1. Shoot a timelapse sequence (let's say 500 frames)
    2. Import as .dng with 1:1 preview & smart preview generation
    3. Make edits to frame #1
    4. Copy settings on frame #1
    5. Paste settings to all frames
(2.) Why make 1:1 previews on import? They are only used when you zoom to 1:1 in the Library. If you don't create them at import, LR will make one for that specific shot if you zoom into it in the Library loupe view. There will be a few seconds delay while the preview is being created (whereas if it was created at import there will be almost no delay) but on the other hand you are not lumbering your system with hundreds of big previews that you don't need. Same question regarding Smart Previews. Why? They are used to stand in for the original shots only when the originals are not available, for instance because you are away from home and the storage drive. Do you really need them?
(3-5.) Select all the frames (Ctrl+A). Use the toggle switch on the Sync button to make it Auto Sync. Any edit you make to frame #1 will immediately be done to all the frames.

  • How do you export a pdf from acrobat dc to dropbox on a mac

I have been using dropbox for years and have never had a problem exporting a pdf to it until I got Adobe Acrobat DC.  Please tell me how to export to a dropbox file.

"stored on acrobat" – PDF files in your acrobat.com account ("Files" or "Workspace")?
If so then you can access those from your install Adobe Reader Mobile app.
    What's New :: My Account
Once accessed it is simply easy to transfer the PDFs to the iPad.

  • How do you export messages from Ovi Suite?

As the title says, how do you export messages from Ovi Suite?
I know how to export messages from Nokia PC Suite, but it doesn't seem to be possible in the new Nokia Ovi Suite.
Here is how I would do it in the Nokia PC Suite.
    1. I click the Messages icon to open Nokia Communication Center.
    2. I click on the Messages option on the left pane to view only messages.
    3. In the main window I mark the messages I want to export.
    4. Then I go to File menu and chose Export.
    5. Choose destination folder and I'm all set to export my messages from my Nokia.
I can chose between the formats CSV and VMG (vMessage) for export. If more than one message is marked only the CSV format is available. But what you can do to export several messages in the VMG format is to mark them all in the main window and press CTRL+C or right click and chose Copy to copy them all to RAM memory. Then all you have to do is create an empty folder on the desktop and paste them in there by pressing CTRL+V or right clicking and chosing Paste.
That's all there is to it, using Nokia PC Suite. So how do you do this in Nokia Ovi Suite? You don't, right?
And this **bleep** Ovi Suite is supposed to replace PC Suite?
Thank God I won't be needing neither of them much longer. I am switching to Android and HTC. Good luck with Ovi, the Ovi Player, the Ovi Suite, the PC Suite, the Symbian, the S60, the Symbian^1 (S60 5th edition), the Symbian^3, the Symbian^4 and what not.

I believe OVI took a step in the right direction with this option. I also believe it was made available due to the fact that OVI Suite cannot take a huge number of messages altogether. This option was made available so that the messages could be backed up.
However, I'd like to suggest the following, if possible.
    1. Make Nokia OVI Suite be able to handle a huge number of messages.
    2. Have the option to export only selected messages.
