If you aren't going to use your MacBook for days, turn it off to save battery. If not, you can leave it in sleep mode. Sleep mode doesn't consume a lot of energy and allows you to start up your Mac in seconds, being faster than turning on the MacBook, so it's better to leave it in sleep mode

First let me make it clear my iMac is running native OS X 10.8.5 and all Adobe Creative Cloud Apps are install on the iMac running natively in the OS X system environment. I only have Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac installed to run Microsoft Office software in Windows 7 when needed (because PowerPoint for Mac sucks big time compared to the PC version)… absolutely no Adobe CC Apps have been installed on the Parallels virtual PC environment.
I have been having problems with Creative Cloud Desktop not updating so I uninstalled it and tried to install the latest version from Adobe. I then get the following error:

This has happened all last week. Because we have been so busy at work I waited until the weekend to contact the 24/7 chat support.
This was going well. I was sharing my desktop with the agent who was adjusting the permissions of some folder. The problem came when he launched chrome on Parallels and not on the MAC and tried to install the PC EXE version of CC desktop. When I pointed this out to the Agent he instantly stop the screen share and stated in the chat box that virtual computers are not supported and I must find my own solution without giving me an opportunity to explain.
Every time I tried to start the chat again I was cut-off while trying to explain that Adobe CC was running natively under a native OS X and the Virtual PC was a separate to this
Only after my 4th attempt (having per cut an pasted my arguement into the chat box) did a get any further. The Agent refused to continue to try and fix my problem but did say the Adobe engineers are aware of the "204" error
Has anyone else had this "204" error installing Creative Cloud Desktop or can direct me to a solution it would be much appreciatedUnfortunately I am still getting the 204 error
I download the Creative Cloud Desktop App at home and brought it into work to install — which failed
I then tried to install the same file on the only Mac in the office not on Creative Cloud and it installed with out any problems
I then tried plugging my iMac into the same ethernet socket incase it was a problem with the ethernet socket. No luck it still had the 204 error

When turning on my mac book pro it displays a screen with apple logo and begins loading a loading bar, after this continues to show loading circle however has been like this all day still no different. Tried turning it on and off however still same!

Hi I have just bought a new Mac Book Pro 15" Retina display with 256 SSD and 8G RAM. I had my info transferred form my Previous Mac Book Pro late 2011 to this machine. I have an Apple iphone 4s and for the last 4 weeks I cannot download or update any apps. I have an iPad and a Mac book pro and the apps download on these devices fine. My phone tells me that I have 12 updates but when I press update all or update any individually nothing happens at all. It also does not ask me for my password any more but my iPad and mac book do.
I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.

If you want an antivirus, use ClamXav or Sophos, but as I said, you don't need these applications.

many thanks Carl.You must boot from another drive in order to erase the system drive.
Try starting up with Snow Leopard DVD inserted and C depress. That should get you booted from the DVD. Then start Disk Utitlity from DVD and erase the disk then you should be able to install Snow Leopard.
Remember that everything will be removed from the disk when you erase it and install Snow Leopard so backup first.
