Note that the ODSEE directory server does not depends on Java, but the Admin Console (DSCC) does.

Once upon a time was able to search for a package and get the latest or slightly older versions.
Any ideas where I can locate these packages to install individually. Don't want to use a patch to add these packages.

While I am trying to install Directory Server 7.0 in windows 2003 server machine ,the following problems are occured.

DSCC Agent is not registered in Cacao
DSCC Registry has been created

Port of DSCC registry is 3998
I was able to create DSCC registry successfully.But while registerng DSCC agent in Cacao some probelm occurs
I ran dsccsetup.exe cacao-reg command.But its throwing

We have found DSCC in 11.1.1.7.0 is much more sensitive to SSL cert issues. Make sure your Directory Server SSL certificates are set up correctly and then remove from DSCC and add again. Then click the "refresh" button in DSCC. You may also want to double-check your dsccagent installation and make sure it is properly registered.

Hi all ,
i have downloaded the gz version of directory server 6.3 from the sun site & communication suite 6,
well i install the directory server 6.3 and install the directory creation utility from the comm suite 6.
but i am unbale to find that from where i will get the access manager , and i am also unable to create the directory (server-schema) i.e by using the comm_dssetup.pl
it fails and give me the following error,
Directory server does not appear to be running or not listening to port 389.
Bad DS version (0,0) Please correct the problem and re-run this script. at ./comm_dssetup.pl line 1014.

Hello,
Yes you can use nsAccountLock directly (When nsAccountLock=true, the object is inactivated and the user cannot log in)
This is documented in Modifying Directory Server’s NsAccountLockAttribute Directly (Sun Java System Directory Server Enterprise Edition 6.2 In… (release number is old but it does not matter, Thats the first one Ive found)
You can also use dsutil account-inactivate as described in dsutil - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7.0)

Do you know why oracle queries many times sys.props$ for BACK_END_DB

I noticed that oracle executes the following query too many times.
select p.value$, lengthb(p.value$)
from
sys.props$ p where p.name = 'BACK_END_DB'
Oracle 9i DB
This query is not executed into a form, report, package or procedure.
Question is:
Do you know why oracle queries many times sys.props$ for BACK_END_DB?
or how can we avoid it?

Hi,
Internal table sys.props$ contains data for some oracle parameter/variables. Oracle makes internal calls to its internal tables for many fornt end SQL statements (recursive queries). So do not worry about those internals calls.

Disable Schema check in Oracle Directory Server

How does one disable schema checking in Oracle Directory Server. I couldnt figure it out. This is easily done in openLDAP , netscape LDAP server.

I am sorry if I wasn't clear. In Netscape/openLDAP , the term schemacheck implies. ( from open LDAP documentation ).
Option : schemacheck { on | off }
This option turns schema checking on or off. If schema checking is on, entries added or modified will be checked to ensure they obey the schema rules implied by their object class(es) as defined by the corresponding objectclass option(s). If schema checking is off this check is not done.
Default: on
The default is on in Oracle.

Its wise to use Oracle THIN client, unless you will need any OCI specific features.
Oracle OCI driver requires that your client must have a Oracle Client installation to connect using OCI, but the thin driver only requires classes12.jar in the client host to connect.

Has anyone successfully install Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 2005Q1 on HP-UX. I did a normal install with the below path set:

I need to configure incremental backup with RMAN on a two node Solaris x86 with Oracle RAC 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 installation.
We also use ASM to store database files, and have Oracle software installed on separate file systems (two Oracle roots for Node1 and Node2).
I have following questions:
1) where to put Flash Recovery Area (FRA)?
I saw recommendations to put FRA on the ASM, is this the best way to do it?
2) Can I put FRA on another file system (not on the ASM) which is available only from Node1? This way I can save space on the ASM.
3) Is it possible/recommended to run RMAN from Node1 only?

If you want your backups to be available for both nodes you have to use shared storage or tape using an mml library.
So if you want to use the FRA for rman backups and the database is on ASM just make ASM the standard for the FRA as well.

A2) Than you cannot recover in case Node1 is down. Best would be to send your storage admin to a training course so he can manage the clustered raw devices needed for ASM.

I have installed jes for my windows system.. so that i have removed platform version of Application Server..
I try to add the Enterprise application Server (Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1) to JStudio IDE..
but i couldn't;

Configuring your IDE to integrate with Sun App Server is something you probably will have to ask in some sort of JStudio forum. Other than for Netbeans, Eclipse, or possibly IntelliJ IDEA, you might not have much luck answering an IDE question here. I could be wrong though. Maybe somebody will have an answer for you and set me straight.
