Uh, iFixit and the manufacturer of the upgradeable SSD Flash Storage for the 2010-2011 MBA would respectfully disagree. Yes, the volatile memory is not upgradeable, but the storage SSD (NAND Flash) is as upgradeable as it gets.

In my project, the closed field of oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleStatement class was used to check if this statement is closed. However, for oracle 10g jdbc, the field is not public, but default.
My question is:

One thing I found is that isClosed() method is added in JDBC 4 specification, java.sql.statement has the isClosed() method in Java 6. However, 10g JDBC only supports JDBC 3.
Does anybody have an idea?

You can use the Create Inventory command in the Preflight tool (available in Pro and Extended) to determine the color space propeties of your PDF. There is also a PDF Fixup profile you can use to "Convert to CMYK" (keeping spot color or not) in the Preflight tool.

To delete any type of app you need to open the Finder window and highlight the app you want to delete by moving it to the trash. Empty the trash and it's gone. There are some Apple provided apps that cannot be deleted but you should not have any issue with the games.
As for cleaners, I personally don't use them but the 911 and Mackeeper are very popular and I hear work pretty well with Macs.

Which Solid State Hard Disk for Satellite Pro L670?

I have a Satellite Pro L670 which I want to configure for presentation purposes and have to re-load the operating system anyway.
Rather than over-write the existing disk, I thought it would be better to get a second one to fit instead.
Replacing the current (old-fashioned) spinning disk with a solid state one seems to me the best way to go.
Has anyone else fitted a solid state hard disk to a Satellite Pro?
For budget reasons I am planning to go for a 120GB capacity which will be enough.
However I have yet to find out from Toshiba what they might recommend. Anyone else yet gone this route?

Theoretically any SATA SSD drive should be compatible because the notebook supports an SATA controller.
But in some cases it could be possible that an SSD drive would not be handled properly. In such cases the SDD drive manufacturers provides different firmware updates
So before purchasing an SSD drive check the support pages of SSD drive manufacturers for further details maybe an firmware update would be available

My Macbook Pro is out of storage space, what should I do?

I take tons of pictures and that is what's sucking up all of my memory. I currently have a 2011 Macbook Pro OS X Lion Version 10.7.4. 4 GB memory 2 GHz processor. Now that I look at the "About This Mac" it says all of my storage is "Other" with 0 KB in everything else like photos and apps which I know is false. Anyway, what should I do? Should I go to best buy and get a bigger memory? its currently 500 GB & 499.25 of that is filled up... What could I delete to free up space? Should I partition my photos onto an external hard drive? I have no idea how to do that but someone please help!

Silly question but have you emptied the Trash lately?

New MacBook Pro (retina) eating up Storage

I synced my new Macbook Pro retina (with 124GB Flash Storage) with my old MacBook (from 2006, with added storage of up to 200GB). Before syncing I removed all photo's, videos, music etc, to make sure there was as much space as possible.
I had about 20GB of space on there, but through usage it has now gone down to 200mb, if there is a large looking file I delete it, but it keeps filling up again almost to the point where the computer is unusable.
I think it might be something today with my Outlook Database (I installed my Office 2011, and it took the info from my Entourage 2004.)
Does anyone know anything like this?
I think I might have to scrap my profile and start all over again.
Any help greatly welcomed.

You may be using IMAP, but it may be set to cache locally (I do this intentionally in Apple Mail so I can read IMAP emails when not connected to the Internet).
If it's doing that, you've probably got a huge email cache, including attachments, inside that Main Identity database. Unfortunately I don't know if the database can be compacted/optimized, but you might want to look into that possibility on the Microsoft support site.
Because I am not familiar with the inner workings of the user identity database, I do not know how it stores cached of documents from other Office apps like Word or PowerPoint, I'm only bringing that up as something you might want to research as well since 40GB seems to be a lot for just emails. I'm sure you're not the first to run into this.
(Edit) I just looked at mine. I use Word and Excel but not Entourage/Outlook. My Main Identity is about 30MB, if you want to use that as another data point. Not gigabytes...megabytes.

How do I back up my MacBook Pro to a network storage drive?

My Time machine is not working for some time now and I can not back up my data. I recently bought a network-added storage for backing up data from iMac and Macbook Pro. Time machine back up on Western Digital network hard drive did not work. Is there any otehr way to back up all data from my Macbook pro to teh NAS drive?

schmunzelmonster, greetings; Your suggestion is a good one. CCC does create a boot drive which as you point out can be most useful at times. Time Machine does not have that capability but it retains a history of activities and transactions that CCC does not. CCC only retains information as of the last update.
Neither individually is the 'perfect' backup solution individually, but if both are utilized it becomes that. There is no harm in backup redundancy.
My only complaint about CCC is that is is very slow in performing updates compared with Time Machine. Just a nit on my part.

I love just really get a lot more out of my Mac Pro now with Samsung $100 SSD than I ever did, and OWC or Amazon $15 adapters.
One easy great way to breath new life into 7 yrs old hardware.
$31 for 2x2GB FBDIMM to get more RAM is another easy and now cheap higher quality.
I feel like I bought a year and can skip "1.0" of any new OS plus new hardware until it too has had 6 months at least to iron itself out.
Don't be put off. That SSD III can and should work fine AND use it whenever you do get another Mac or decide to add a PCIe SATA SSD controller card ($150) to add SATA3 6G.

2011 macbook pro OSX maverick, error: storage system verify or repair failed

Hi there,
My 2011 Macbook pro which came with Lion but now upgraded to Maverick 10.9.5 has just crashed. It will start up in recovery mode but when I've gone to the apple logo to start up from disk, it shows the disk but doesn't start up from it I just get a grey screen.
I'ved tried to verify and repair the disk and get message: 'The partition map needs to be repaired because there's a problem with the EFI system partitions file system'
I also get: error, storage system verify or repair failed.
S.M.A.R.T staus is verified
None of the key commands for start up seem to work, ie - option - shift - command P,R etc.
I can't re-install operating system as it is an older version, ie Lion and have updated to Maverick via APP store so no way of re-installing OSX.
Any ideas???

Hard drive dies if you put a MacBook Pro on top of a white MacBook

Myself and one other have had this same problem. Sleep a white macbook and start using your 2006 MacBook pro on top of it. After a few mins it freezes and only the mouse pointer works with mostly the beach ball. Hard reboot and then you just get clicking noises from the hard drive (stuck on grey screen sometimes with the spinner or question mark or sometimes blank)and it has mechanical failure. Just coincidence or a real problem?

I was originally using it on my knee then when moving it to a table I just happened to place it on top of another MacBook instead of clearing space, I didn't think it would be a problem.
Nop the hard drive no longer works. It spins up but makes a clicking sound like the heads are damaged. If you tap the case then it sounds like it starts reading and the apple and spinner appear on the grey screen but it eventually just spins down.
Its possible the magnet in the Macbook case done it, although wouldn't that cause problems with the Macbooks own drive all the time?

I keep my 'large' iTunes library on an external drive - and a 'small' library on my internal. You can use two libraries by holding down the option key and selecting which library to open - one for 'on the go' and the other for enjoying at home.
