Do you lose texts when upgrading to iOS 7?

I want to upgrade my iPhone 5 to the new iOS7 operating system but am concerned I will lose some very important texts.  Does the upgrade removes your current texts?  Also, is there a way to save them "just in case"?
Thanks!

You will have to Restore using iTunes on your computer. Be sure you connect using a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub. Disconnect all USB devices except the phone, keyboard and mouse. Use Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
If you get an error post the error number.

Why display hanging and software problem when upgraded to ios 8

    Hi Redhazel,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where you're experiencing a poor image quality with your iPhone's camera, please follow the troubleshooting below.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • Do i lose files when upgrading to Lion?

I am preparing to upgrade to Lion fromsnowleapard, i don't have a back up, but my question is:
Do I lose files when upgrading to Lion? I have microsoft office for MAC 2011 installed and files for garageband which I realy don't want to loose!

If you have files you don't want to lose, you should back up your system regardless of upgrading or not.  Buy an external drive and clone your system or use Time Machine to back it up.
The normal Lion upgrade won't delete your data if things go correctly, any hiccups and you'll need that backup.

  • Did anyone lose music when updating to ios 5?

what the title says. Did anyone lose music when updating to ios 5?

Yes... It shows up as being on my iphone when I have it connected to iTunes, but if I try to call it up on the Music folder of my iphone, there's nothing there. Very frustrating... I don't know what to do. I would hate to have to re-format my iphone, but it's looking like that might be the only answer at this point.

  • Facing problems when upgrading to ios 6 through iphone

I try upgrading to ios 6 using the iphone wifi without using itunes. It stop at the point asking me to connect to itunes.
Eventually when I connect to itune, it prompt me to restore. I followed the instructions but ended up to 3194 error.
Now I am stuck not being to on my iphone 4s. Can someone please help.
    Thanks

According to all information, either your iTunes is not up to date or you are trying to downgrade to an unauthorized version, or lastly, you have some unauthorized third party files as per the links the other users posted above.
    Try updating iTunes!!!!
    Good luck!

  • Call waiting dissapeared when upgrading to iOS 8.0

Call waiting disappeared after upgrading to iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 5s.

    Hello Sara_swe
To make sure I am clear on your issue, when you go to Settings > Phone, you do not see an option for Call Waiting to turn on. If that is the case, make sure that you are up to date on the software for your iPhone and also depending on your carrier, you may need to check with them to make sure the features are on your account. Check out the articles below for more information.

  • Single pdf lose text when merged with muliple

I have 24 single PDF files made from word documents. They are
all great until I merge them into one PDF file. Then I have several that lose text.
I have remade that single files after deleting the old ones and recreated the merge, still same problem.
Upgrade my adobe, cleared old files, rebooted, nothing works.

Use the pdf optimizer to remove the embedded fonts. Then use the Preflight capability to re-embed the fonts. The issue is caused by the different font subsets that exist in different parts of the pdf.

  • Error 3194 when upgrading to ios 7.

I receive error 3194 when upgrading to ios7 on my iphone 4 ( and I really don't know if it is 4s or just 4).  I am working though the itunes softward on my home computer.  It seems I am stuck in something called recovery mode.  I have tried a variety of suggestions found on the web (e.g., editing a "host" file, checking firewalls and connectivity, etc.) to no avail.  Any suggestions?

The iPhone was either previously jailbroken (the DFU restore should have fixed that) or it has a hardware error. I would vote for the latter.

  • WIll you lose photos when it ask you to upgrade your library?

Im updating my MBP to Mountain Lion and am now updating my iPhoto to iPhoto '11 and when doing so it ask me to update my photo library. Will doing this have the possibility of losing all my photos?

    Again
    Yes
Make a copy of your iPhoto library prior to upgrading [the library in this case ]
And it sounds like you do not regularly backup.  If you do not sooner or later you will lose everything. All of your files including your photos. Seriously you should purchase an external ard drive at least 2 1/2 times as large as your main drive and start running Time Machine

  • I am experiencing delayed typing with texting after upgrading to IOS 7 - anyone seeing this?

Both my wife and I are experiencing delayed "typing" with texting after the upgrade to IOS7.  Concisely, you can keep typing, but there is a noticable delay before the text appears in the message section.  I have also noticed delays with entering my 4 digit Passcode.

Mine was so bad that it was nearly impossible to type in my passcode.  I finally restored the phone (reinstalled the software) and then restored from backup.  All is working fine now.  This is on my iPhone4.  The real trick was getting past the passcode and then turning off Find my iPhone (which is required to restore) when it was nearly impossible to type my password in.
It solved my problem.  After I did it I read somewhere here to try resetting all settings.  That would be quicker but you may lose some settings you had.  In any case restoring completely solved my problem.
My iPad did not experience any of these problems.

  • Did anyone else lose apps after upgrading to ios 5.0?

I just upgraded my iPod Touch (4th generation) to ios 5.0 and lost almost all of my apps.  They also do not show up when I connect to the App store through the iPod under the purchased tab.
Are they gone because they are not compatible with IOS 5.0 or is this just a glitch?

I did not lose any of my apps.  Were all your apps in iTunes?  The iOS 5 update does a full restore of the iPod Touch, so after the update is complete, iTunes begins the restore process and restores all your apps.  Then it will restore all your music, videos, then photos.  Are you using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase those apps?

  • How do I remedy lost old burned in CD music onto a cpu lost when upgrading to iOS 7.1?

I recently and hesistantly upgraded my iphone 4s to the new iOS 7.1  I was nearing maximum capacity on my phone (32g), via indications from itunes and was looking to minimize things I did not need to clean things up and make room for more music.  While I typically upgrade iOS wirelessly, I happened to be tethered to my cpu and in itunes this time and have had a bad result from that process and looking for the easiest and safest way of retrieving the music that shows on my phone as there but un playable.  Somehow while I have successfully created capacity on my phone, my itunes account now shows a significant amount, if not all, of the music I manully burned into my cpu and merged into itunes from my CD collection no longer resides in my itunes account.  Again I see it on my phone under music, butr the text is greyed out and if I click the song it tries to play but then smiply skips through songs with teh same appearance unitl it finds one that I bought from itunes and plays that one?
How can I re activate or re instate my mysteriously lost or un playable music both on my phone and back into my itunes account with out losing it, or other music for that matter, again or having to manually load it back in (not something I'm likely to do).  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to add this information to my post:
I have purchaed, free and paid, 618 apps.
In my phone apps to add to my phone when I plug it in my computer only 266 apps show up.
In my itunes "puerchased list" only 266 show up.
Thank God I have not updated my ipad. There I went to my "purchased" under the ALL list in the app store and there I do see my 618 apps!
Where did my other 352 apps go? Which many were paid.
    I want my apps back.
    Thanks,

  • Contact List lost when upgrading to iOS 6

I upgrade my iPhone 4s to iOS 6 this morning and now my phone contact list os completely gone!  It looks like everything else is still there and no other problems, but I have no contacts loaded at all.  Unfortunately, I don't use iTunes as my wife's iphone is synched to that and I never did an iCloud backup.  Any suggestions from anyone (other than telling me to back up from now on)?  I spoke with Apple Care and they could not help restore it.  Any suggestions from Veriozn users?  Thanks!

You can still use iTunes even if your wife uses it but I understand. Next time if you do an update you can back it up on the cloud or tunes.
I didn't backup and I was fine except my apps I need to delete and put back because it kept on saying waiting but when I download a new one it would go right away.

Last night I upgraded my iPhone 4S to ios 7, and this morning when I went to use it I was stuck in Recovery Mode - How do I get my iPhone 4S out of it w/o restoring? I have photos, contacts, etc  Iwant to get off the phone. I tried Tiny Umbrella and RecBoot but no dice. I was not able to get any help from the Apple tech on the phone. They only suggestions offered were to check to see if iPhoto or the Finder would show my device so I could copy over my photos.
    Thanks, Chad

That error usually means that your computer antivirus is blocking the update.
It can also mean that your phone was jailbroken, or your computer was used to jailbreak some iOS device in the past.
