Do you need a Pioneer Driver or Ext. to use a Pioneer DVDR Drive?

That basically is my question. Is there a driver or extension needed to run a Pioneer DVD drive on Mac 10.39?
I have a DVR-108 and Toast sees it fine but Restrospect doesn't see it at all--says there are no drives with removeable media found.
Retrospect supports this drive but I'm not sure about 10.39 although since Toast sees it?
In System Profiler it shows up on the ATA window but the description list under "burner" says "not supported." Of course the drive is a burner and Toast will burn with it so I'm confused.
Do this and other Pioneer drives get supported under the "Pioneer Super Drives" item I see in the extensions folder?
I was thinking that now 10.39 would support any IDE or ATA drives that Windows would. I know Windows has to have drivers but I don't see anything about "drivers" in 10.39?
Pioneer also mentions nothing about MACs on their info page on this drive and I know their firmware updates have to be made by putting your drive in a Windows computer and upgrading it that way, so maybe Macs aren't supported by Pioneer drives.
Any suggestions? I'd like to get something that will run on 10.39 (I can't upgrade my G4 because I'm using and end of the line ProTools version that won't run on 10.4). and be recognized by Retropsect. I running Retrospect 6.1.124 and also its latest Mac driver from EMC.

Hi Steve
Mac has the drivers already installed and loads them. Every external device needs a driver, it is just that you are more aware of it in windows because you have to install them, but Macs have for a long time done it quietly behind the scenes for you.
As for pioneer Super drives being compatible with Macs, they certainly are, in fact some lines of Mac's optical drives are Pioneer in manufacture but not in name.
The problem is Retrospect, and I've come across the same thing. Able to burn a DVD in Finder, but Retrospect doesn't see the drive. The Retrospect manual is no help as it is full of repetitious conditions and qualifications when all you want is some straight information.
I wasn't able to solve the problem and uninstalled that overpriced and over complicated box of garbage and instead use SuperDuper for backups which cost only $30 but just no DVD ability. So maybe Retrospect needs installed some driver that it is compatible with - I don't know.
So sorry I have no solution but just thought I could at least inform you about drivers and Pioneer drives and Macs.
I'll keep an eye on this topic and look to see what the solution is.

  • FormsCentral could not import the PDF document because it does not contain interactive form fields. You need to add fields to your PDF using Adobe Acrobat and import again

HALP! What do I have to do to fix this issue??

    Hi blythegemini,
Please see this document: How do I make my PDF form fillable so I can import it into FormsCentral?
Adobe FormsCentral can't import "flat form" (one that isn't fillable) and convert it to a fillable form. You would need to use Acrobat to add fillable fields to the PDF. If you don't have Acrobat, please feel free to give it a try. You can download a free 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Need ATI XP driver on Satellite Pro A200-15G

    Hi,
I'm italian so my english will be not very well :)
I've installed XP on my toshiba Satellite Pro A200-15G.
I've searched the display driver for this model of notebook on this toshiba site, but i didn't find it.
    Where i can find it?
Ah, another thing: i've installed xp without update bios for xp... is necessary to update it?
Last thing (for the buyers of a satellite/satellite pro a series): what is the autonomy of your notebook's battery (in various modes and in various SO)?
    Thanks.
    Bye

    Hi,
if you need a display driver then go here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
or especially for ATI cards you can go here:
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
Regarding BIOS: yes, if you want some things on your machine working properly then update your BIOS to the XP version.
Hm, battery lifetime... should be about 1 1/2 to 2 hours
But I am not sure, it depends from so many things.

  • Re: Need right display driver for my atellite L300D

    Hello
I have a problem. I have installed Windows Vista 32bit on my laptop again and want to download all necessary drivers but Im missing the drivers for the net, and graphic card.
I already tried to download them from the download page but could not do this.
In device manager there is listed standard vga graphic card even though I have an ATI 3100 graphics Radeon and I have a 16:10 (1280x800) resolution.
Now it is suddenly at 15:9 (1024x768) and I have no AREON merchandising
    merchandising can only standart vista
    Can someone please help me?
    Thank you in advance.
    PS: I have a Satellite L300D notebook.

    Hi mate
    > but Im missing the drivers for the net, and graphic card.
I assume you need graphic card driver and WLan or LAN driver.
You can use the LAN/WLan drivers released for other series. But you need to know what LAN or WLan card you have.
So install an hardware diagnostic tool like Everest Home edit which would provide all necessary info about the hardware parts.
This would help you to find the right WLan or LAN driver.
    Regarding the graphic card driver;
Many Toshiba notebooks support the same GPU.
So you should try some drivers released for other notebook with the same graphic card.
PS: the full notebook name would be helpful too

  • Updated pages today but when I try to open a document I created I get a message saying you need new version, but i have the new version! So frustrating - HELP!

Updated Pages today - created a document. Went back few hours later to send it as email attachment - got a message saying Pages needs to be updated to open. Went to Mac app page and it said it was updated. Document won't open - what do I do???? Keeps saying to upgrade but it is upgraded - ARGH!

    Here is a possible solution.
You should still have Pages 4.3, the old version, on your computer in Applications>iWork09. If you have the old Pages 4.3 running when you open the file, Pages 4.3 will warn you that you need to update because the new Pages uses a different file format. You can open the file in two ways.
Quit Pages 4.3, then open the file.
Right-click the file and choose to open the file in Pages 5.0.
    I hope this helps.

  • Do you need antivirus for Macs

Is anti virus software necessary for Macbook Pros?

Is anti virus software necessary for Macbook Pros?
Yes most certainly you need it, don't let anyone tell you differently. *wink*
Mac's can get viruses and transfer them to other Windows users through shared Windows files, but they don't affect a Mac as it's a different operating system. Don't share Windows files, then no problem, but you should have a free scanner on hand.
You can use the free ClamXav to scan those files and clean the Windows filth if you wish.
Always on anti-virus will slowdown your Mac and cause problems, so don't install it (or MacKeepe/911 bundle, it's bad!)
So far there isn't any Mac based viruses, but there ARE Mac based trojans, so be careful of installing anything from unreliable or questionable sources, something that "pops up" on your screen while surfing the web.
Turn off your Java (not Javascript) in your web browser preferences, unless you come across something that you need it (rare) then turn it on for that site use only. No need to have it on all the time, it's dangerous to leave on all the time as it's the most used attack vector.
If and when you install Flash, it's used a lot online, do so now and check occasionally it's up to date because it does have exploits from time to time and those are bad too.
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
You may want to install Perian too, it enables other codecs to play in Quicktime
    http://perian.org/
Just maintain some common sense and check out the reliabliity of websites your installing software from, for instance if a adult content site says you need this or that installed to watch, use your head and exit the site/browser. Don't install software from P2P or torrent sites, your taking your chances.

  • Does DPM 2012 R2 still needs DataSourceGroups.xml and MaxAllowedParallelBackups key when using Hyper-V VSS Software Writer to backup Server 2012 R2 Cluster

    Hi,
Does DPM 2012 R2 still needs DataSourceGroups.xml and MaxAllowedParallelBackups key when using Hyper-V VSS Software Writer to backup Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster with CSV's? Can't find a clear answer somewhere.
    Thanx for helping me out.
    DJITS.

    Configure CSV backups
If you are running Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2 and you’re backing up multiple clusters with DPM, you need to ensure that only one backup uses the same CSV at any one time. To do this, follow the instructions in
    Serialize virtual machine backups.
If you’re using software VSS with Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2, do the following
Serialize virtual machine backups per node
Serialize virtual machine backups per CSV LUN

  • Do you need an additional slot for the RBS and does the RBS count as an additional hard drive in the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm?

    Hello Community
If you have a clustered Sharepoint 2013 Server farm running RAID 10, on a
clustered WS2012 R2 server that has 10 hard drive slots:
            (4) drives being part of the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
            (1) drive for the Web App Server
            (5) are for hot swap if any of the production hard drives fail
        The question(s) is:
            - If the server only has 10 slots for hard drives are you still allowed to add a
NAS/RBS drive and does the NAS/RBS drive get clustered also, or does this scenario require
reducing the RAID level down to RAID 5 to allow for NAS/RBS hard drive?
            - Does the NAS/RBS hard drive need a hard drive for hot swap?
            - Does the NAS/RBS drive have to have Sharepoint 2013 Server or WS2012 R2 running on it?
            - Does the Web App Server have Sharepoint 2013 running or just WS2012 R2 running on it?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

RAID 10 requires a minimum of 4 hard drives. The LUN for RBS must be attached to the SQL Server, not SharePoint server, as a local drive. You just need to be running the minimum required OS for the version of SQL Server you're using.
Do you mean Office Web Apps by "Web App Server"? If so, that cannot have SharePoint installed on it. Otherwise, if you're just referring to it as another SharePoint server, yes it would have SharePoint installed on it.

  • Do you need a special external hard drive for iMac?

Do you need a special external hard drive for iMac?

Any external hard drive that will connect via Firewire 800, USB, or Thunderbolt will work.
I have a 750GB Western Digital Scorpio drive in an OWC case, sitting on a Backpack, which connects via Firewire.  Western Digital Scorpio drives have 5 year warranties, the OWC (macsales.com) cases usually use the Oxford chipset which works well with macs, and the Backpack is a slick way to mount a backup drive without taking up desk space.
After you hook up whatever external drive you end up with, you'll partition and initialize it for OS X, then begin using it.
My opinion, I would not get a Western Digital pre-packaged external drive/case.  While the hard drives are OK, there have been a number of people that have had issues with the electronics.

  • Message "Unable to find nigpib.inf You need to reinstall the NI-488.2 driver

I get the Message "Unable to find nigpib.inf You need to reinstall the NI-488.2 driver software" before the Getting Started Wizard starts. I cannot find this file on the NI provided CD labeled NI-488.2 for windows version 2.2. Help.

First, what GPIB hardware (part number and serial number) are you trying to install, and what is the operating system?
Next, please go to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) Help to generate reports from the System Information and Support Section. Please post the operating system and NI Software info.
Also, please describe the state of your machine before the NI-488.2 installation, and how you progressed through it before reaching the error. For instance, I installed LabVIEW 7.1 and all the default settings of the Device Driver CD, and then installed .... The MAX report and this will help determine how the system got into its state. If you got any errors during the process of installation, please describe in as much detail as you can.
    Based o
n the information above, I may have other suggestions about how to resolve this problem, but you may try the following first: Go to Add/Remove Programs and choose to Reinstall the NI-488.2 driver in the National Instruments Software section. Reboot, and try to run the Getting Started Wizard again.
