Do you need a power transformer to use a US based Ipad on 220 volts

I can not find the voltage specs for the Ipad, can it use European power (220 volts) without a transformer, I know you need a plug adaptor

No you do not need a transformer. The iPad works with 220 volts and 110 volts.

Do I need a power converter to charge my US based iPhone5 in the U.K.?

No, just an adapter to make the plug pins match our sockets. The charger is world compatible, apart from the plug shape.

Do I need a power converter to use my MacBook Pro 3,1 in Italy?  I've had it for a few years, purchased and used in USA.

The block auto-switches to Europe power.  You just need an adapter for the final plug-end appropriate for Italy.

  • How to resolve "you need to power off" screen looping

I fitted a new hard drive to my MacBook.  Have restored from a Time Machine back-up.  I have the "you need to power off" screen but every time I power off and power back on I first get the Apple logo screen and then the "you need to power off" screen.
I have read elsewhere it is probably caused by restoring a Snow Leopard backup using a Leopard disc.  So I think I need to do the restore again but can't get out of the "you need to power off" loop....

  • Do you need an unlocked iPhone to use prepaid microsims in the UK?

Canadian using Rogers, phone has not been modified beyond apps/software updates since receiving. Thanks.

You need an unlocked phone to use SIMs from a different carrier.  Yours may be unlocked... check with your carrier.

What model do you need to be able to use a charge scanner when their is no wi-fi available

Ohh, you mean credit card scanner?
That would be up to whicher scanner you choose.  The manufacturer would determine which iPad or iPhone versions or IOS versions their device supports.
The Square scanner from the Apple Online store only needs iOS 5. So pretty much any model of iPad should support it.
    System Requirements
    iOS 5.0 or later
Square app; free download from App Store in iTunes

Do you need a internet connection to use youtube?

The only alternative would be to download the video from YouTube on your computer and then, presuming it's one of the h.264 videos (Flash videos will not work on an iPod touch), you could then probably load it onto your iPod and view it with the iPod needing to be connected to the Internet. But you still need an Internet connection for your computer.

No transformer necessary, you only need a plug adapter. Look at the power specifications on your computer and you will see it's good from 100V to 240V.

  • Do I need adobe CC subscription for using photoshop touch for ipad

Do I need adobe CC subscription for using photoshop touch for ipad?

No, Photoshop Touch is a different software and isn't part of Adobe's Creative Cloud (CC) series of software you can get with their monthly subscription.
Photoshop Touch is a mobile version of Photoshop you can get for just $9.99, and then you'll have it for life.
It's a great, must-have tool in my opinion, but it's very limited and won't give you all the things you would get with a regular Photoshop desktop-version, like the one you get when you subscribe to Creative Cloud.
    Best,

  • Restore from Time Machine.  Won't restart.  Stuck on "you need to power off" screen

    New 500GB HD
    Full restore from Time Capsule.
    Took forever but did finish.
Screen now says "you need to restart your computer.  Hold down the poer button until it turns off.  Then press the power button again".  I get the Apple screen and start-up chime.  And then this screen again.
How to get out of this loop ?

Once OSX is installed, and I finish this, do I install the combo update?   You mentioned that I will probably have to do that.  Do you know if something will prompt me to let me know that I need to download the combo update?
Check what version of OSX you installed.  It's probably printed on the disc, or click the Apple icon at the left of the menubar, and select About This Mac.  That will display a small window showing, among other things, the version that's running.
If that's not 10.6.6, you'll need to download and install the "combo" to get back to 10.6.6.  You could upgrade to  10.6.8 by getting that one, but it's not necessary.
Reading the link you provided again, do you think it be simpler just to start over and restore from the TC using the SL disc instead of the original MBA instal disc with Leopard?  My mom only has about 25GB of data, so it is not a large database.  Would this type of restore eliminate the combo issue?  I have already gone through the restore about 5 times this weekend!
That might be faster and easier, and no, you wouldn't have to load the combo, since the full restore includes the version of OSX that was backed-up.
Installing OSX would take roughly 40 minutes, downloading the "combo" varies, of course, but they're close to 1 GB, so, especially if you can connect to the TC via Ethernet, that might be the best option.

I'm traveling to the UK from NY does anyone know if just using a uk plug is ok or do I need a voltage adapter of some kind?

You just need a plug adapter.

  • Using an X40 AC adapter with 220 volts/50Hz

    Hi:
Can someone verify that the AC adapter for an X40 that we purchased in Canada can be used at 220 volts in South America.
It says:  Input: 100-240v;1.5A 50-60 Hz
I'd sure hate to damage the laptop.
    Many thanks

Lenovo and IBM have supplied the 100 V to 240 V adapter that automatically varies the voltage. So you can use it in South America.
