Do you need an active phone plan to connect an i phone to tunes on a pc?

i have a new 4 and my plan doesnt fully activate until next month. and for some reason my computer doesnt recognize the phone. do i have to wait until my phone plan is full active to connect to itunes?  my phone is runningan older ios and i cant connect to itunes wirelessly to update either because my plance doesnt go into full effect yet. ither than that every thing works fine on the phone and its not my computer because my nano connects fine to the computer and i have the latest virsion of itunes.

ya there is a sim in it. my provider told me that my plan dosent kick in until mid nov cause i was switching from another phone so i cant use my data, but does that mean that after my plan kicks in fully that i wil be able to connect to the computer properly or is there just somthing wrong with the phone. because everything else works fine on it and the pervious owner of the phone said that when they had it that it worked fine.

Anyone know if you need an active carrier subscrtiption for find my iPad to work?

All that is needed is A data connection - wifi or cellular does not matter, as long as there is a data connection for the device and the iCloud location server to communicate with eachother.
The location information itself is likely to be more accurate and precise in the 3G models just due to the full GPS chip set they have (the wifi only models are limited to using wifi hotspot location database information which will not be as precise, and may be wildly inaccurate if the wifi node the device connects to has moved and not been updated yet in the database).

  • My mac is a version 10.5.8. I just downloaded ios7, and it is telling me I need to download iTunes 11 to connect to my phone, but I don't have a new enough version. What do I do?!

My mac is a version 10.5.8. I just downloaded ios7, and it is telling me I need to download iTunes 11 to connect to my phone, but I don't have a new enough version. What do I do?! I think snow leopard was the last update I purchased.  Is there a way to convert my phone back? I need to be able to update it, but don't have the money for a new computer.. Help!

10.5.8 is Leopard, not Snow Leopard. Leopard ran on both PPC and Intel Macs, but Snow Leopard runs only on Intel Macs. iTunes 11 will run on Snow Leopard, though I'm not sure whether iOS7 requires a higher system (Apple seem to specify only itunes 11 and not an OSX system so you may be OK). However if your Mac is a PPC you cannot proceed; if it's an Intel one you can purchase Snow Leopard in the Online Store (search for Snow Leopard to find it quickly) - it's not expensive. It's not possible to roll your phone back to iOS6.

  • If youran ATT customer and you buy a I-Phone off ebay thats undercontract with ATT all you need to do is put your sim in the phone which I did and it worked fine, is that all I need to do?

I purchased a I-phone off ebay  that was under contract with ATT which I am also, I put my sim in it and it worked fine, is that it as far as set up????

Yes to working , I am still under contract so thats why the phone IS working and I have the max data plan already, I had a galaxy that broke and I purchased the I-Phone off ebay and they said it was under ATT contract so it would work for me and it did, so I am all set correct?

  • Hi guys! In order to use GPS on iPad do I need an active sim card or connection to the internet? Thanks

    -

No, you just need the 3G or 4G version of the iPad (not the wifi-only version which doesn't have the GPS chip) - you don't need to have activated a 3G or 4G service on it, nor be connected to the internet.

  • Connect Cisco IP Phone 7941G-GE to asterisk

I have a cisco IP PHONE 7941G-GE already with SIP firmware, but when i upload the config file with asterisk extension, etc the phone keeps saying "Registering" and never finish registering.
My SIP Configuration File : http://pastebin.com/SB6XPiXD
There are any log that i cant use to see if asterisk is blocking the phone or something like that ?
Can anyone help me out ?
    Regards ;)

Note - you started the thread in SPA IP Phones / XML Phone Applications
But 7941G is not member of SPA product line and your's question has nothing to do with XML Application at all. So you are off-topic here. Please consider drop of this thread here (red button on top of page) and create it in more appropriate forum (you should add information mentioned by Leo Laohoo as well as information mentioned by me in next paragraph).
According the question itself - best way to analyze registration problem is packet capture. You need to catch SIP REGISTER packets sent from your phone to Asterisk and responses sent in opposite direction. Use a packet catcher (tcpdump, wireshark or so) or display them on Asterisk's console (sip set debug peer ...)

  • Cannot connect to the phone system. An unidentified error has occurred, Please try again.

Issue:  Lync 2013 users with remote call control enabled cannot connect to the phone system.  When the user logs into Lync, they see an exclamation in the bottom right corner
    with this error.
Error:  Cannot connect to the phone system.  An unidentified error has occurred, Please try again.  If the problem continues, please contact your support team.
    Environment:

Trusted application is added here for the site.
    2. Lync 2013

I have not moved the trusted application to the Lync 2013 pool yet, but my understanding is that it should still work since it’s in the site.  Is my understanding on this correct?  (All of my other trusted applications do work for Lync 2013
users & none of them have been moved yet. Remote Call Control is the only one that does not work.)
This is from the uccapi log.  This is just from the user logging in, not actually making a call.  Below are the items that I think are important, however, I don’t know how to interpret it to determine if the problem is on the Lync side or
the Avaya side.  Here’s a summary:

    Hi Suelizy,
To better understand the issue, I would like to collect the following information for troubleshooting:
    1. Do you mean the Lync 2010 user can connect to the Phone System?
    2. What’s next hop pool of the application?
In a mixed environment, you must set the next hop pool to be the Lync Server 2013 pool.
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How do I connect my I phone 4s to my iPad 3 wifi  by Bluetooth

    How do I connect my I pad 3 to my I phone4s

    From the iPhone Manual:
    Personal Hotspot
You can use Personal Hotspot (iPhone 4 or later) to share an Internet connection with a computer or other device—such as an iPod touch, iPad, or other iPhone—connected to your iPhone via Wi-Fi. You can also use Personal Hotspot to share an Internet connection with a computer connected to iPhone via Bluetooth or USB. Personal Hotspot works only if iPhone is connected to the Internet over the cellular data network.
Note: This feature may not be available in all areas. Additional fees may apply. Contact your carrier for more information.
Share an Internet connection: Go to Settings > General > Cellular and tap Set Up Personal Hotspot—if it appears—to set up the service with your carrier.
After you turn on Personal Hotspot, other devices can connect in the following ways:
W-Fi: On the device, choose your iPhone from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
USB: Connect your iPhone to your computer using the cable that came with it. In your computer’s Network preferences, choose iPhone and configure the network settings.
Bluetooth: On iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth. To pair and connect iPhone with your device, refer to the documentation that came with your computer. When a device is connected, a blue band appears at the top of the iPhone screen. Personal Hotspot remains on when you connect with USB, even when you aren’t actively using the Internet connection.
Note: The Personal Hotspot icon appears in the status bar of iOS devices using Personal Hotspot.
Change the Wi-Fi password for iPhone: Go to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Wi-Fi Password, then enter a password of at least 8 characters.
Monitor your cellular data network usage: Go to Settings > General > Usage > Cellular Usage.

If the phone is locked to a carrier then you will need the carrier to unlock it And only the carrier can do that.

  • Can you convert your desktop site plan into the phone & tablet version w/o re-creating the pages?

Can you convert your desktop site plan into the phone & tablet version without re-creating the landing pages? This seems too extensive to have to re-design each page?

    Cwsnell,
On your nav bar there is a shorcut to other pages.
The most effecient way I have found to do this from the phone layout,
click on the page icon shown above
type in the name of the page (and select the desktop version as indicated by the icon of the monitor)
select all on that page (CTRL A / Command A) and copy (CTRL C / Command C)
revert back to the phone layout page and paste (CTRL V / Command V)
then resize, delete what you dont need, make any other edits and your done!
There is not a way to copy a page entirely over.  The mobile version should have less information and less imagery to enable fast load times.

  • What happens when you cancel your phone plan?

My contract through at&t is up in June, and I was just wondering if anybody knew what happens if I cancel my phone plan. Does my phone just work like an ipod touch, or... what? I heard a rumor that it did, but it was more speculation than fact.

I don't know if this is true for AT&T - but on Verizon, when I went to a Palm Centro from a Samsung regular not-too-smart phone, I still could use the Samsung as an alarm clock and a stopwatch. I just have to keep it on standalone mode (off the network) except twice a year, when I turn off standalone mode briefly to get the right time from the network during the change to and from daylight savings. The phone company has never complained. I can still access my old address book on the old Samsung any time.
When I get an iPhone, I'll keep the Centro in case anything horrible happens to the iPhone... and also to use some things on the Centro such as alarm programs and all-important games. Hopefully I can do the same as I do with the Samsung, and just connect it to the network as needed to reset the time. You'll have to look at your iPhone to see if they have something like standalone mode and hope that you can do the same. On the Centro, I think all I have to do is turn off the phone portion -- it does that spontaneously once every few months, anyway... There has to be a way to disconnect the phone from the network, since some places require you to do this to avoid interfering with their equipment (e.g., hospitals, airplanes).

  • HT4157 do you need internet to setup a cellular plan?

do you need to have an active internet connection ( wifi) to make a cellular plan if you have a cellular ipad

You need an internet connection until the actual update starts. First the computer downloads the update file and then it verifies the files by contacting Apple. Then the update starts and an internet connection is no longer required.
If you stop after downloading the update file, you will need an internet connection when you resume since iTunes has verify the file right before actually updating/restoring the iPod

  • Those who took a while to active then did activate, did you need the e-mail

Did you need the e-mail and have to click a link or something, or did your phone just start working? I am sitting on the computer waiting on an e-mail. Is this necessary, or will the phone just start working?
If you answer please be detailed....thanks!

The email I received was only to tell me that the activation (from T-Mobile) was in progress. They will send me another email in addition to an SMS to confirm when the process is complete.
Aside from all of that, I was able to synch my phone with all my contacts, music, etc., access my wifi, and try out the web and a few things. But I was not yet able to make/receive a call (or maybe I just didn't know what the heck I was doing).

  • HT201318 I need to cancel my storage plan and I don't have physical phone or anything associated with the phone anymore to get serial # from, so how do I contact apple?

I need to cancel my storage plan and I don't have the physical phone or anything associated with the phone anymore to get serial # from, so how do I contact apple?

Contact the Apple online store at the number shown at the bottom of this page (1-800-MY-APPLE in the U.S. and Canada.)
If you ever synced your phone with iTunes, you can find your serial number by doing the following:
    Launch iTunes on your computer.
Hold down your Control key, then on the menu bar in iTunes click iTunes>About iTunes (Mac) or Help>About iTunes (PC).
Any previously synced devices will scroll in a pop-up window; press the space bar to stop scrolling so you can write down the serial number.

No, you don't need to add the data plan first.  You will automatically be prompted to add a data plan of the required value when you activate the phone.
