Do you need MapInfo EasyLoader to store TAB files in 8i or 9i?

We are a MapInfo reseller and are trying to determine if our
client would need to purchase MapInfo EasyLoader to store TAB
files in Oracle 8i or 9i.
Also if anyone can help me, would a client using SDE be able to
store SHP files in Oracle 8 or would they also need Oracle
Spatial?
Thanks for any input,
Tim

Tim,
With Oracle 8 you can convert shape files to ESRI's native data
format, which is not Oracle Spatial.
If you want to store the geometries as SDO_GEOMETRY objects, you
will have to have Oracle Spatial. You will need SDE in order to
establish a read/write connection to an Oracle Spatial
database.
