Do you need to open ical or reminders to get them to sync/update?

I have a iPad and a iPhone and when I create a new reminder or ical event on either device it does not automatically sync to the other without me launching that app on the other device.
For example I create a new reminder on my iPad for 8am tomorrow morning. I do not launch reminders on my iPhone so 8am the next morning comes and goes without reminding me of the thing I wanted to be reminded about.
Is there a setting that I am missing to get these updates to be pushed without my intervention? Just for clarity in my example above if I would have launched reminders on my iPhone I would have received the reminder I created on my iPad. I don't seem to have any problem with that.

Try this, turn firewall on on the linksys, turn UPnP on, turn mac's firewall on(dont add any extra ports) restart iChat.

Is this a wifi-only iPad? If so, and unless it is plugged in, when you sleep the device, it shuts off the wifi radio to save battery power. When you wake up the device, the wifi radio is re-activated, it connects and gets your notifications. That is perfectly normal and simply a function of the design of the device. The wifi will not shut off if the device is plugged into a power outlet (no need to conserve power then).
A 3G iPad would allow for push notifications, if the 3G connection was left on all the time.
P.S. if you do have a 3G iPad and have 3G enabled all the time, then I do not know why it is not working.

If they are in iCloud, you can download them as a vCard from icloud. Look under "Contacts" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4910. You can, of course, also view them on icloud.com from your computer.

despite the workaround, it doesn't fix the real problem. It shouldn't be a huge deal for adobe to add support for multiple svn versions. Dreamweaver is the first tool i've used that works with svn that doesn't support several types of svn meta data. If they're going to claim that Dreamweaver supports svn is should actually support svn, the current version, not a version several years old. This should have been among the first patches released, or at least after snow leopard came out (and packaged with it the current version of svn).
does anyone know if the code that handles meta data formatting is something that is human readable, or where it might be, or is it in compiled code.

Can't open Reader V9. Says part of suite (CS4 Web Design), need to open other module. but getting error message 148.3

I'm running Windows 8.1. I had to create a new account identity because of some corrupted files. Now I can't open Reader V9. Message comes up saying it's part of a Suite (CS4 Web Design) and I need to open other module first. I tried opening Dreamweaver, got error message 148.3 and program closes, says to contact customer support. My CS4 Seb design suite is old and I've since gotten PS Extended CS5 and PS Extended CS6, but not a whole Suite. Perhaps the license needs to be re-entered but the program closes before I can do anything. Please advise.

ICal and reminders on Macbook don't sync with iCloud

Just now when iCal crashed on my MacBook Pro I realise that it hasn't been syncing with iCloud (lost al lot of appointments).
Any change made on my iPad, iPhone and on icloud.com syncs perfectly; even back to my macbook!
The rest on my laptop (notes, iWork apps, mail, contacts) all seem to work and sync perfectly with iCloud.
However iCal and Reminders made on my laptop just don't sync to iCloud!
The other way around works nicely (reminders and calendar appointments from iPad, iPhone and iCloud.com appear promptly on the macbook).
I have tried everything i could find (restarting computer, resetting icloud prefferences, log out and in from icloud, starting new calendar, checking icloud account). Nothing works...
Any change made from my macbook just doesnt make it to other devices. From other devices back to my mac do work.
On my macbook all calendars I have are in iCloud.
iCloud is active (with same login as for other devices)
Would be great if someone could help me with this one!

I have something similar and i will try to explain with my rusty english.
I have an ID on iCloud but i can't sync the iCal events.
On my mac there is everythign (appointment, notes birthdays and so on). On my iCloud there is nothing.
I suppose was something related with the old ID (one just for ichat, not one of the ID that you pay to receive extra services or a @me.com account).
Now, as soon as the icloud features was installed on my Macbook Air I signed a new ID and initially everything worked fine. Emails on Mail and contacts were syncronized properly but with the new ID. i did not check iCal account.
So i tried also with the old one (the ichat ID) and all was sync. So i realized that maybe Apple recognized same account or name and merge all the ID in just one.
I was wrong.
The 2 ID's are not linked.
further checks add also this new weird stuff. in any case i cant sync ical accounts. i tried to switch from one to another ID. no way. i checked preferences in iCal on the mac. everything is fine. no way.

Yes, you need to install the iCloud control panel and enable Photo Stream on your PC.

Apple You Need to Fix iCal/iSync in Leopard!

What did Apple do to iCal in Leopard? They broke it somehow. I had hard drive failure in powerbook. Replaced Hard drive, did new install of Leopard. Then installed Palm desktop 4.2 (newest from site). Setup Palm Treo 650 conduit in isync. It will only sync the addresses, nothing in iCal. Either way is bad. From Treo to iCal, and iCal to Treo won't work. Everything IS setup correctly. I used to do this in Tiger with no problems. What did Apple do to Leopard? This needs to be corrected immediately! I do all my scheduling in iCal. It is useless to me if I can't sync it to the Treo to take with me.

You have no idea of what you are talking about, and your claims are entirely without merit. iCal was rewritten from the ground up for release with Mac OS X 10.5, and the synchronization component of it—in particular—does not work as intended or expected.
Virtually all mobile handsets and smartphones which worked under various releases of Mac OS X 10.4—with or without a plugin—continue to work under Mac OS X 10.5 and later. It is almost exclusively Palm devices which do not work as user would reasonably expect them to since the release of Mac OS X 10.5 and iCal 3.
iCal and iSync cannot simply be returned to their Mac OS X 10.4 counterparts: your inability to understand the complex nature of programming these applications and their frameworks apparently underlies your groundless assumptions and claims.
It silly to claim that these applications "…worked perfectly in and up to 10.4." Nothing could be further from the truth. By most reasonable measures, particularly with regard to Palm devices, these applications did not come close to working "perfectly," and many, many mobile handsets offer better interaction with the Address Book and iCal through iSync than does the iPhone through iTunes.

What do you do when what you need to open is in adobe flash? Is there an app that can be used in place do adobe?

My programs are opening slowly, how do I get them to open quicker?

I have a Mac Pro 2 Ghz PowerPC Gr running OS 10.5.8. I have been having difficulty with programs opening very slowly including Safari and Word which I use most frequently. I have used ONYX to try to speed things up, have cleared the cache in Safari and it still seems to be slow responding when opening or closing programs. What can I do to speed things up?? Right or control click your MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click: Get Info
In the Get Info panel see: Capacity & Available.
Make sure there's a minimum of 15% disk space.
