Do You Use the TestStand API Reference Poster?

The TestStand R&D Team would like to know how you use the TestStand API Reference Poster that ships with TestStand.  How often do you use it?  Is it hanging up near your computer?  What tasks do you use it for?

Hi,
I dont use the hard copy. I unfolded the it the first time it appeared in version 3.0. Refolded it, put it back in the box and have never bothered with it since.
I have used the electronic version now again, when I haven't got access to the programmer help doc which you find in the teststand\bin folder.
I find its use limited, as it only really gives you the relationship between classes and a list of the properties and methods. This you can obtain for the help document.

  • READ THIS if you use the observer APIs ...

    This is just a heads up for developers who take advantage of
    the observer APIs in Spry. For the next version of Spry I plan on
    making the observer APIs for both the Data Set and the Dynamic
    Region consistent.
    Currently in Spry PR 1.1 the data set observer mechanism
    requires that you register an object with an onDataChanged method
    on it. This method is then called with a notification type
    (Spry.Data.DataSet.ODC_*) which developers have to manually check
    against and conditionally perform their action.
    In Spry PR 1.1, the observer mechanism used for the dynamic
    region requires that you register a callback function, which gets
    passed a region state (Spry.Data.Region.RS_*) whenever it is
    called, and it is up to the developer to check against the region
    state and conditionally perform their action.
    For the next release of Spry, I plan to move to the following
    model:
    - Both data set and region observer mechanisms will require
    an object which defines notification methods for which it wants to
    be notified for.
    // Create an object with notification methods.
    var myObserver = new Object;
    myObserver.onDataChanged = function (notifier, data) {
    alert("OnDataChanged called!"); };
    // Register your object as an observer on the data set.
    dsMyDataSet.addObserver(myObserver);
    - Notification methods will all have the same signature:
    function (notifier, data) {}
    The notifier is the object that is dispatching the
    notification, and the data is an object that will contain
    information regarding the notification, where necessary, or
    undefined if no additional data is necessary for the notification.
    When called, the 'this' object within the notification method
    will be the actual observer object.
    - We will publish a list of notification methods that can be
    defined on the observer object for both the data set and dynamic
    region.
    - *All* methods on the observer object are *OPTIONAL*, which
    means you only have to define the notification methods that you
    want to be called for. For example:
    var observerA = new Object;
    var observerB = new Object;
    observerA.onDataChanged = function (notifier, data) {
    alert("observerA.onDataChanged called!"); };
    observerA.onSortChanged = function (notifier, data) {
    alert("observerA.onSortChanged called!"); };
    observerB.onDataChanged = function (notifier, data) {
    alert("observerB.onDataChanged called!"); };
    myDataSet.addObserver(observerA);
    myDataSet.addObserver(observerB);
    In the example above both observerA and observerB will be
    called whenever the data changes, but only observerA will be
    notified whenever a sort happens.
    - Some events will have pre and post notifications. For
    example onPreLoad(), onPostLoad(), onPreUpdate() and
    onPostUpdate(), etc.
    If you have any opinions, concerns or feedback on this. Now
    would be the time to speak up.
    --== Kin ==--

    As one person who asked for this, I like what your planning.
    Is that onPreLoad() an event that will get fired before an Ajax
    request goes out for new data? Cuz I could really use that.
    A tagentally related thought: Notifications are great, but in
    some cases, I might want to control whether some behavior happens.
    Say, perhaps I want to control whether the load actually happens.
    In that case, I'd want a delegate object, which would have some
    methods on it that could cancel the event that is going happen.
    Just as an example:
    var delegate = {
    willFireLoad: function(...) { if (somecondition) return
    false; else return true; },
    unknownValueForKey: function(key, dataset) { ... return
    dynamic value ... },
    unknownValue_desc: "Description"
    dataSet.setDelegate(delegate);
    The first would allow me to stop the data from being loaded.
    The second would allow me to return a value for a key that isn't
    present in the dataset. And the third could be a way to hardcode a
    value for the key 'desc'.
    Just kinda an idea as far as what could be done, and I'm sure
    there might be other control points too.

  • Using the Teststand API to create a .tpj file

    Hello,
    I'm looking for an example on how to create a teststand project file with the API. I cannot find a methode or property to create it, and add the project file(s) to a workspace. I've tried with PropertyObjectFile (Classe) without success.
    Let me know if you can help.
    Thx
    Martin.
    Teststand 2010 SP1.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thx for your answer, i use Labview 8.6 to interact with the API, So i don't know if I interpreted rightly your code...
    I've managed to create an empty project file (.tpj)  with "Engine.NewPropertyObjectFile (6)"
    With the "rootworkspaceObject.NewFile(filePath),0" A pop-up appear to select the file (so it must be created before like above).
    What i've done is:
    - Creating the file as a project file  "Engine.NewPropertyObjectFile (6),(Path)."
    - I write the new file to disk "PropertyObjectFile.WriteFile(format)" and "PropertyObjectFile.SaveIfModified"
    - Then i try to associate The existing .TPJ file to the RootWorkspaceObject "WorkspaceObject.NewFile(Path)" and "WorkspaceObject.InsertObject(Index)"
    -At last I save modification of the association "WorkspaceFile.SaveWorkspaceAndProjectFiles(option)"
    There is no error and when i open the workspace in teststand, there is no .pjt in the workspace tree...What i'm missing...
    So this does not work for me..
    Cheers

  • Set the description value for a step by using the TestStand API

    Hi,
    to read the description of a step there is provided a method:
    Step.GetDescriptionEx
    What about setting this value via API?
    I didn't found any method like 'SetDescriptionEx' !
    Regards,
    Sunny

    There is no set method because the description is dynamically computed by evaluating the DescriptionExpr property of the step's steptype.
    If you want to make a custom step type with a settable description, add a step type subproperty of type string named MyDescription. Then set the step type's Step Description Expression to Step.MyDescription.
    Now, for any instance of your step type, you can set the Step.MyDescription property to change the description.

  • How to build a TestStand 2012 workspace ( insert a project / insert a folder) programmatically using LabVIEW 2012 and the TestStand API.

    Hi everybody!
    I am just trying to find out how to create a TestStand workspace … in LabVIEW using the TestStand API.
    To create a new workspace was quite easy. Unfortunately I am not successful to insert a new or existing project to the workspace.
    Furthermore I have to insert a folder from disk to the new or existing project in the way that I can use an absolute path for the directory …
    Maybe someone had already solved this problem, in any case  I am thankful for any hint.
    Greetings from Germany,
    Norbert

    Have you find out how to add a folder to a project? I'm looking for this to... I tried WorkspaceObject.NewFolder[Name]whitout success...
    For creating Workspace and project see the newer resolved thread I created.

  • Do you use the e-mail APIs in Oracle 9iFS?

    Have you built an application that uses the Oracle 9iFS e-mail
    APIs?
    * oracle.ifs.adk.user package classes?
    * oracle.ifs.adk.mail package classes?
    * EmailUserProfile?
    If so, we would like to learn more about your requirements.
    Please contact me at [email protected]

    You cannot secure just the mail app other than to go into the Mail settings and remove the password there, a process you would have to repeat every time you wanted to access the email and were then done. Setting a screen lock passcode is, as Ed indicated, the way to protect your information on your iPad in case of loss or theft. If you use the long password rather than the simple (four digit) code, cracking into your iPad to access your data and accounts would be quite difficult for even an experienced thief.

  • Using the Java API to address a specific instance

    Hi,
    I've created another operation (onRequest) in the client of an async. process.
    <!-- portType implemented by the Exp2 BPEL process -->
    <portType name="Exp2">
    <operation name="initiate">
    <input message="tns:Exp2RequestMessage"/>
    </operation>
    <operation name="onRequest">
    <input message="tns:Exp2onRequestMessage"/>
    </operation>
    </portType>
    I then use this operation in a recieve activity so that I can stall the flow of the instance, and then call it whenever I whant from a RMI client.
    <receive createInstance="no" name="onRequest" partnerLink="client" portType="tns:Exp2" operation="onRequest" variable="inputRequest"/>
    My problem is that, after the creation of one or more instances of this process, how can I send a post message to a specific instance using the Java API?
    I understand that i should use something like...
    deliveryService.post("Exp2", "onRequest", nm );
    but there's nothing to "say" that this post message is to be delivered to the instance with the ID "xx".
    I also know that I need to use correlation on this but I don't know how.
    I would really apreciate some help on this.
    Thanks...

    This is a very good question: here is a code snippet that shows how you can add a conversation id to the NormalizedMessage that you are sending to the delivery service.
    HashMap properties = new HashMap();
    properties.put("conversationId", "yourUniqueKeyHere");
    // construct the normalized message and send to the
    // delivery service
    NormalizedMessage nm = new NormalizedMessage( );
    nm.setProperties(properties );
    // The rest is the same
    nm.addPart("XXX" , someElement );
    Please note that you will need to use the conversationId property both with the message you use to initiate the BPEL process and the message you use to perform the onRequest call.
    Please note that if at some point you want to perform any of the 2 calls through the SOAP channel, you can embed he conversationId in the WS-Addressing header within the relateTo element.
    I hope this helps.

  • Java applet using the Swing API

    write a Java applet using the Swing API to manage a PC repair shop. When a PC is brought in for repair, a member of staff will use this applet to log it into the system as a repair job. They will also be able to use the applet to manage the job e.g. allocate a person to carry out the repair and enter costs.
    You must not use a tool such as JBuilder to generate Java code. If you use code from elsewhere e.g. a text book, you must highlight the code and state the reference clearly and include a photocopy of the relevant pages from the text book or other source.
    You should hard-code some initial data into your applet. You should not store any data in a file or database.
    Level of functionality you should attempt to implement:
    Level 1  Your applet should:
    a.     As a minimum, your program should store (in memory) at least 10 repair jobs. For each repair job, you need to store:
         The name and phone number of the customer bringing the PC in for repair;
         A brief textual description of the problem;
         Whether the PC is under warranty or not.
    b.     Your program must allocate and display a unique number for the job once it is accepted.
    c.     The user must be able to view the details of jobs. They should be able to select either:
         All the jobs in the system; or
         Jobs being carried out under warranty.
    Level 2 Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1. In addition it should:
    a.     You should carry out appropriate validation checks on input data e.g. the phone number contains all digits.
    b.     System should cope with an unlimited number of jobs.
    c.     The user should be able to select a job and then allocate a repairer to that job.
    d.     The user should be able to display a list of jobs for each repairer.
    Level 3 - Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1 and 2. In addition it should allow the user to:
    a.     Select a job and input the cost of repair for:
         the number of hours labour;
         parts.
    b.     Select a job and present the user with a cost for the labour (hard code an hourly labour cost) and parts, plus a total for that job. For jobs under warranty the total will be zero, however the cost of labour and parts will be shown.
    c.     Be able to inform the business of the total expected income from the all the jobs in the system that are not under warranty.
    Level 4 Your applet must meet the requirements for level 1 to 3. In addition:
    a.     The user should be able to enter a job priority which can be identified as high, medium or low.
    b.     Each repairer should be able to view a list of their jobs in order of priority.

    Done, what next ?

  • License for using JMX Remote API  Reference Implementation

    Is JMX Remote API Reference Implementation open source one?
    Can we use JMX Remote API Reference Implementation with commercial products?

    Hi,
    I am not a lawyer.
    If you're referring to the JMX RI binary downloads available from here:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/core/mntr-mgmt/javamanagement/download.jsp
    then please click on the download button and then review the license agreement.
    You will see that this is not the GPL license.
    As such these downloads are not "open source".
    However the JMX API is also part of the OpenJDK project - and the OpenJDK project
    itself is open source. The OpenJDK project has a NetBeans IDE JMX project that will
    let you easily work with the JMX sources.
    See http://openjdk.java.net/groups/jmx/ for more details.
    You can review the OpenJDK license agreement and download the OpenJDK sources
    from http://openjdk.java.net/
    The OpenDMK Project contains an open source implementation of the JMXMP
    connector for the JMX API - which is the optional JMX connector defined in the
    JMX Remote API 1.0 specification. The JMXMP connector is not part of the OpenJDK
    project, but is open sourced by the OpenDMK project.
    You can review the OpenDMK license agreement and download the sources and
    binaries of the OpenDMK project from here:
    http://opendmk.dev.java.net/
    For an exact description of what you can or can't do with any of these various sources
    and binaries, please read the license agreements that come with each of them.

  • Help/Example needed for creating JMSQueues/JMSTopics using the MBean API

    I am trying to create JMSQueues programmatically using the MBean API. When

    Anyone have example code to insert JMSQueues and JMSTopics into a specific

    Here is the code I tried... All goes well until the final
    createConfigurationMBean call, where it throws a MBeanCreationException:
    // Get the MBeanHome bean
    Object obj = jndiContext.lookup("weblogic.management.adminhome");
    MBeanHome mbeanhome = (MBeanHome) javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow

    JMSServerMBean jmsServerMB =

    // Create the new Queue
    JMSQueueMBean jmsQMB = (JMSQueueMBean)mbeanhome.createConfigurationMBean
    ("weblogic.examples.jms.fooQueue", "JMSQueue", jmsServerMB);

    Ok, I still don't see how I can do it differently with the admin tool. If
    you want to see the commands I'm using, I can post them, but the basic one
    is shown below in the previous message. We're trying to set up a script so

    I created previously, using the same naming scheme as in the above CREATE.

  • How to count number of lines inside methods() using the Doclet API

    Wrote a custom doclet using the [Doclet API|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/tooldocs/javadoc/doclet/index.html ] .
    The purpose for the doclet is to load Java source files and create stubs (which are identical Java source files but do not contain any method implementation details).
    Instead, the method implementation details need to be replaced with blank lines...
    public class MyDoclet {
         private static String TAB = "\t";
         public static boolean start(RootDoc root) {
              ClassDoc[] classes = root.classes();
              // Parse through class or interface

                   Type superClass = clazz.superclassType();
                   // Print Methods
                   MethodDoc[] methods = clazz.methods();
                   for (MethodDoc method : methods) {
                        Parameter[] parameters = method.parameters();
                        println();
                        if (!method.isPrivate()) {
                             print(TAB + method.modifiers() + " "
                                                    + method.returnType().simpleTypeName() + " " + method.name());
                             print("(");
                             for (int i=0; i < parameters.length; i++) {
                                  Parameter parameter = (Parameter) parameters;
                                  print(parameter.type().simpleTypeName() + " " + parameter.name());
                                  if (i != parameters.length - 1) {
                                       print(", ");
                             print(")");
                             println(" {");
                             println("\n");
                             println(TAB + "}");
              return true;
    As one can see, I am just creating the method and placing the opening and closing curly braces (along with a new \n line escape sequence, in between).
    Am not really that familiar with the Doclet API...
    Question(s):
    (1) What is the best way to figure out how many lines of code are inside each method and then use a for loop to insert the exact same number of blank lines inside the methods?
    (2) Is there a way to do it using the com.sun.javadoc.SourcePosition.line() method?

    This is not possible using the Doclet API, because JavaDoc does not store any information regarding implementation detail. Although MethodDoc#position will give you the line where the method is declared, there is no way to determine where the method body starts and ends.
    If you need that much information, maybe you would be better of using a tool such as Eclipse's Abstract Syntax Tree parser. AST will provide you with line numbers for each code expression, hence it is relatively easy to compute the first and last line in a method body.

  • How to use the UME api in order to search the LDAP?

    Hello,
    I have an application which connects to the LDAP the portal is connecting to and search users according to a certain search criteria.
    Here is the relevant piece of code:
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
    SearchControls controls = new SearchControls();
    String filter = "firstName=..."
    NamingEnumeration results = ctx.search("OU=OUs", filter, controls);
    I would like to do this same search using the UME API.
    Can someone please show me the equivalent code to it using the UME API?

    Hi Roy,
    you find the Configuration File you are using in your portal via System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration -> Data Sources
    or in sapume.properties where you can find
    ##xml file that configures the persistence except roles
    ume.persistence.data_source_configuration=YOUR_DATASOURCE_CONFIG_FILE.xml
    In this xml file, there is the entry
    <principal type="user">:
    <principal type="user">
         <nameSpaces>
         <nameSpace name="com.sap.security.core.usermanagement">
    <attributes>
    <attribute name="firstname" populateInitially="true"/><attribute name="displayname" populateInitially="true"/>               <attribute name="lastname" populateInitially="true"/>                    <attribute name="fax"/>                         <attribute name="email"/>                    <attribute name="title"/>               <attribute name="department"/>                    <attribute name="extensionAttribute2"/>               <attribute name="mobile"/>          <attribute name="telephone"/>                    <attribute name="streetaddress"/>               <attribute name="pobox"/>                    <attribute name="location"/>               <attribute name="telephoneShort"/>               </attributes>
         </nameSpace>
         <nameSpace name="com.sap.security.core.usermanagement.relation">
         <attributes>
         <attribute name="PRINCIPAL_RELATION_PARENT_ATTRIBUTE"/>
         </attributes>
         </nameSpace>
        </nameSpaces>
    </principal>
    According to your company LDAP attributes, you will have to extend the above attributes, telephoneShort for example is an attribute within our company.
    The UME API does the rest.
    All you have to do, is request the right attribute (in my above example it was the last name).
    (Sorry for the format, but it is quite cumbersome to format it properly with the available editor   )
    Kind regards,
    Rebecca

  • How to filter tasks on the Creation date using the IWorklist API in Java

    Hi all,
    I'm currently developing a java gui application to display usertasks set by the BPM.
    I use the WorkList API to communicate with the TaskActionActionHandler.
    I only want the tasks that has a creation that is after a specified date. Therefore I add a filter. The code for retrieving the usertasks now becomes:
    Map filterMap = new HashMap();
    SimpleDateFormat d = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-mm-yyyy");
    Date date = d.parse((String) dForm.get("filterdate"));
    Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
    cal.setTime(date);
    filterMap.put(IWorklistService.FILTER_TYPE_CREATE_DATE_FROM_FILTER,
    cal);
    RemoteWorklistServiceClient client = new RemoteWorklistServiceClient();
    client.init();
    IWorklistContext ctx = client.authenticateUser(user, password);
    List tasks = client.getWorklistTasks(ctx, filterMap,
    IWorklistService.SORT_FIELD_TASK_TITLE,
    IWorklistService.SORT_ORDER_ASCENDING);
    You can see from the above code-fragment that I specify a FILTER_TYPE_CREATE_DATE_FROM_FILTER filter that is given a Calendar object. This is not working properly. Also a Date value gives a runtime error.
    The error I get is :
    ORABPEL-10150 Worklist Service Task List Error. An error occured in the Worklist Service while retrieving the task list for user jcooper. Check the task filter criterion and the error stack and fix the cause of the error. Can anyone tell me what kind of dateformat I have to specify for the filter option FILTER_TYPE_CREATE_DATE_FROM_FILTER?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Enter the format that you have defined in the configuration of the property in the Additional Metadata parameter. Use the syntax customFormat=<pattern>.
    In this link, you have at the end screenshots where to navigate in KM to see the property metadatas of your property:
