Do you want hp to remember your password

Brand new laptop, first attempt to use all of my old (Vista-based) functions. My banking website requires a password, followed by a PIN. I enter the password, the laptop asks “Do you want HP Simplepass to remember your password for this site?" I click “No” and then the banking site asks for my PIN. I enter my PIN and click "Next," but HP blocks it and asks “Do you want HP Simplepass to remember your password for this site?” I click “No” and then re-enter my password and click “Next,” and HP asks “Do you want HP Simplepass to remember your password for this site?” I click “No” and the cycle keeps repeating. HP has locked me out of my banking site.
Can I turn off “Simplepass” in the background, and make it go away completely? Pre-loading passwords and PINs is just asking for someone to gain access to my bank, and the answer is “No” and will always be “No.”

If you open HP Simplepass and click on the settings icon- looks like a gear- there should be an option to use for websites that can be unchecked. This may depend on your version vs mine but it is there in mine. If all else fails go into Control Panel, Programs and Features and uninstall HP Simplepass.
******Clicking the Thumbs-Up button is a way to say -Thanks!.******

• HT5569 Is there a way to store a wi-fi password on an iPad and then copy and paste it into the proper space when you want to connect to your password protected network? (the password is 31 random characters)

Is there a way to store a wi-fi password on an ipad and then copy and paste it into the proper space when you want to connect to your password proctected newwor? (the password is 31 random characters)

Yes, if both the Mac and iPad are setup using the same iCloud account, then any notes you enter on the Mac will be synced across to the iPad almost instantly.
Same occurs with the 1Password app I mentioned. If you have both the Mac and iPad versions of it, and setup either iCloud or Dropbox syncing, any passwords entered on the Mac will be synced to the app running on the iPad ready for copying and pasting. This would be the most secure method, but not the cheapest.

• Can you un-do firefox remembering your password for a specific website?

Firefox has remembered a user name and password on a site that shows my visa number. I do not know how to un-do it.

# In the Tools menu select Options to open the options window
# Go to the Security panel
# Click on the "Saved Passwords" button to open the password manager
# Click on the site in the list of sites that you want to remove so that the line is selected, then click the Remove button

• Does Firefox have a feature like the software named Robo-form, where like if you wanted to go to your gmail, you could click on one thing, and not have to inter user name and password every single time?

Some times in Firefox I see pop ups where Firefox is allowing you to make Firefox remember a password or some such thing like that.
I want to go to an account or web site where I have already registered, type in my user name and password and then before I log in, have Firefox remember my log in information, so that in the future I could go to a folder let's say, that has a list, and just click on the one item, spending less time logging in at places.
Is this something Firefox does, or do I have to say, use a software like Robo-form?

• Message "are you sure you want to shut down your computer now"

I am in OS 10.8.5 on a Mac Pro. I get repeated message upon start-up "are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?" Restarting does not stop the message. Nor does canceling it. It keeps occuring, blocking my ability to do applications. Because it comes to the front all the time, and the "shutdown" button is lit, if I inadvertently hit a return key while typing something else, the computer shuts down. I have a western digital backup disk-dismounting that has no effect. I have also run the disk utility permissions repair a few times to no avail.
Thanks for any advice.

This might happen if your power button is malfunctioning. Remember a slight tap of the power button will bring up that screen. Bring it in for service if it is readily reproducible.

• Someone was playing on my computer and I don't see the "Do you want Firefox to Remember" bar. How can I get it back so I don't have to remember sign-in information?

I'm thinking that there is just a simple correction that I need to make.
Here's what I don't see (what follows if from memory and is not exact).
Do you want Firefox to Remember?
This is followed by "always for this site", "never" or "not now"
I don't ever get that bar anymore AND those sites that I used to be able to automatically get into without entering userid and password, I now have to use my userid and password.
Can you help?

* Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
* You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
* To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
* Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

Is this after you've chosen to Shutdown from the Menu, or just on it's own?
You can press the esc key to cancel, or Enter key to shutdown.
Check your System Preferences>Energy Saver>Schedule & see if it's set to shutdown at a certain time.

• "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?" message on start up

This morning on startup I received the popup message "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?". Canceling has no effect. The message just reappears on restart. I've verified the disk; it's fine. I've repaired permissions and I get this message: "Warning: SUID file System/Library/Core has been modified and will not be repaired. You can NOT do so. Only the owner of the account used to lock the phone can remove it. Instructions for how to do so can be found within or linked from within the document I already linked to.
Activation lock is an anti-theft feature designed to make the device useless to anyone other than the rightful owner.
If your friend refuses to give your money back and can not or will not remove the activation lock, there is a fair possibility that the phone was not theirs to sell in the first place.

• Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?

FF 27.0.1 on Linux Mint 16 XFCE, up to date.
I have my Preferences set to 'Show my home page'.
Every time I close FF with the X in the top left corner, it comes up and asks me "Do you want Firefox to save your tabs for the next time it starts?". I check the box not to be asked next time, and have tried both Save and Quit, and just Quit. When I open the browser again it seems to randomly decide whether to open all the tabs I had last time, or sometimes (rarely) just my home page tabs.
I don't want it to open all the tabs I had open, and I don't want the question every time I quit FF. I've used FF for years with XP, but I am new to Mint.

Does setting the "warnon" prefs on the about:config page to false has any effect?
*browser.tabs.warnOnClose
*browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs
*browser.warnOnQuit
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
 Cheers, Tom
