1.Could you tell me, what is the difference between assigning a business organization unit,
job or position as a possible agent to using rule in workflow step?
2. What is the meaning of term "Expression" in workflow and how it help you?

When you assign a possible agent, you define the agents that are allowed to execute to workitem/task, when you assign a rule, user etc in the workflow step you specify the users who should receive the actual task.
The users that will actually receive the workitem are the subset of allowed agent, that also is included in the actual agent found/specified in the workflow step.
And you can use an expression, when you are assigning the actual agent in the workflow step. By using an expression here, you can specify the agents dynamically, by pointing to an element in your workflow container, e.g. an attribute of your business object etc.

Hi Wilson,
The Agent licenses depend on the number of Seat Licenses you have on the system. For example, if there are 25 seats, then 25 agents can login simultaneously.
These do not depend on the Port licenses.

Doubt about Agent Inbox with ERMS and NON-ERMS

Hi All.
We have configured both ERMS and NON-ERMS email receiving (to make some tests) and we verify that only the workitem generated by the NON-ERMS workflow (WS14000164) is shown in the IC Web Client Inbox. The workitem generated by the ERMS workflow (WS00200001) is shown only in the SBWP transaction. Is this right???
We believe that our agent inbox configurations are correct, because it is working fine for NON-ERMS emails.
There is some trick to make the generated ERMS workitens be shown in the IC Web Client Inbox?

Hi Julio,
You will NOT be able to get the workitems created by the standard ERMS wokflow (WS00200001) into your inbox, because SAP's assumption is that ERMS precisely replaces manual inbox assignment work by some automation (Response Management).
Even if you add the ERMS task 207914 in transaction CRMC_IC_AUICOMM, this configuration will be made inactive by the workitem search-engine. You can observe this in method CL_CRM_IC_AUI_WI->IF_GENIL_SO_HANDLER~GET_LIST, around line 210:
read table lt_wflows with key object = co_erms_email_task into ls_wflows.
if ls_wflows is not initial.
delete table lt_wflows with table key object = co_erms_email_task.
endif.
If you still want to see ERMS WIs in your inbox, make a copy of WF WS00200001; in copy, replace task 207914 with your own one, that you add in trx CRMC_IC_AUICOMM. Deactivate triggering event of WF WS00200001; activate triggering event of your own one. No changes in SO28 necessary.
But you may then think about what should happen when one wants to postprocess an ERMS WI displayed in inbox; because some ERMS processing may already have taken place: incoming e-mail may already have been linked automatically to an existing service ticket. You should then support easy navigation to that ticket, and forbid e-mail is linked again manually.

Using different machines in package..and what about agents ??

hi everyone ;
first i want to explain my configuration :
we have a oracle datawarehouse on ip:1 unix machine. and our ODI server (and oracle database, i mean our repositories are on this machine not the warehouse )is on another windows machine which ip : 2 ..
and i have a ODI client on my local pc(windows)..
I want to transfer a few txt files from another ftp machine which ip :3 to the datawarehouse ( ip:1) ..and schedule this senario..
about my question :
i can do all of this :
when i'm working with ODI Studio on ODI server machine ( ip :2 ) i can get files from ftp (ip:3 ) to server machine (ip:2 ) (with odiftpget), i can use a package to load data from file to oracle table on the ip:2 machine again..
but i want to do the same things without save files on the ODI server, i want to load data to datawarehouse oracle tables.( ip :1 )
we have a standalone agent on the ODI windows machine (ip:2)
the question is how can i transfer the txt files from 3 to 1 ( from ftp to dataware house ) without saving files in my local machine or ODI server machine.. is that about the agents and do i have to install an agent on the datawarehouse machine (ip :1 )..

ok. thanks . but how can i instal an agent on ip:1 machine... do i have to run odi setup.exe and select just stanalone agent for ip:1 machine after than create an physical and logical agent on ODI studio and select the ip:1 macihes's host and port than start the agent on ip:1 machine ( configure the odiparams etc.. )
or is there an another way ??

I'm using BIEE11.1.1.6.0, when I using agent to sent email,I faced a problem.
the BIEE login security authentication by external table, If one user 'test' in table,its email is '[email protected]', I login in analytics by 'test' and set email in 'My Account'.
then I add user 'test' to a Agent recipients. then run the agent, the agent will error.
message is :No devices for user: test
AgentID: /shared/Agents/TEST5
No Content for user : weblogic
If I only add email '[email protected]' to a Agent recipients ,'test' can receive the email.
Then I try to add a USER 'TEST2' in weblogic console, login analytics by 'TEST2' and set email '[email protected]' in 'My Account'.
then I add user 'TEST2' to a Agent recipients , run the agent, 'TEST2' can receive the email.
Why? I think using external table that USER and email can't be related?
do yo know why??

in order to recognize email address, you need to implement SA System Subject Area to deliver agent to email associated in external table.

I have questions regarding agents.
1. In the activity step under agent assignment, when do we use
General task
General Forwarding allowed
General Forwarding not allowed
Forwarding not allowed.
2. I am trying to use a multiline container for my agents and indicated.
&AGENTS[&_WF_PARFOREACH_INDEX&]&
My requirement is that once the task is executed by one of the agents, the other agents will
no longer be able to execute the task and the workflow will proceed to the next step. So far
with what I have done, the workflow is waiting for all the agents to execute the task before
it continues to the next step. Please advice on what I should do. Thank you in advance!

Look in the workflow log to see what the problem is. What value does &AGENTS& have? This is what you need for your requirement.
Usually, you set the task to General Task.

SQL Server Agent

I am using SQL Server 2012 Express with advanced services however I cannot connect to the SQL Server Agent. The Instance is local and the SQL server Agent service is installed and has the correct permissions.
According to http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29062 SQL server agent should be available.
Reporting services is greyed out and should also be available in this version.

SQL Server agent is not present in express edition.YOu might see agent XP in sp_configure but acctual SQL server agent is not present.This feature is not provided by Microsoft for express edition.There is nothing mentioned about agent in link you posted.It
does have reporting feature

Agent Determination in Workflow

I am implementing a workflow for change in basic pay, the problem is i am not clear how to go about agent determination, i need to follow my organizational structure but not completely like its not like the complete hierarchy. I need ideas, and some what how to go about it.

Do you know who should be notified of the change in Basic Pay? is it the Employee's supervisor? If it is the Supervisor.. create a method.. In the method start off with the Employee's PERNR.. Grab the position from infotype 0001.. look up HRP1001 subty B002 to see who this position reports to.. you will now have the supervisor's position in HRP1001-SOBID.. do another look up on HRP1001 SUBTY A008 to get the pernr of the supervisor in HRP1001-SOBID.. got infotype 0105 SUBTY 0001 to obtain the User id of the supervisor.. notify the supervisor of the chnage in Basic Pay...

Sql server agent roles and job's owner issue

Hi,
We have a tricky question about agent role and job owner. If I granted sqlagentoperatorrole to a windows account in a sql instance, the account will have permission to create a sql job, the job's owner is the account and he can edit the job. But we want
to keep all agent jobs' owner as SA. But after I (have sysadmin role) changed the job's owner to SA, the windows account won't be able to edit the job any more. but I don't want to give sysadmin role to the account, Does anybody have solution for my issue?
so recap my question,
1. all jobs owners should be SA
2. Allow some accounts without sysadmin permission can edit these jobs
3. Which kid of permission shall I grant to these accounts?

Its not secessary to have SA for all the jobs, normally we avoid using SA...
Depends if you want to have some sort of security measures in place. If not, doesn't matter much. As for the 'sa' topic, I change the name of that account or disable immediately after install. It practically eliminates that vector of attack.
If you SQLAgentOperatorRole permissions then you can do the below... this is just a agent role so this comes under MSDB....

Also if you have sql SA access with doamin account or sql account then you can play with sql server completely without any issues, no harm in this...
Agenet principals are scoped to msdb; make sure you are running the statement from msdb DB. For example:

Agent configuration fails

I have been trying to install agent10g to my OEM grid on AIX 5.3. OUI installation finished without errors and all semms to be correct but ... it is impossible to even check a status of agent.
Every command emctl <whatever> agent returns the same output.
EM Configuration issue. /oracle/product/10.2.0/db/devel_EMREP not found.
where     /oracle/product/10.2.0/db is my databases $ORACLE_HOME
     EMREP is a OEM GRID database
     devel hostname where all these staffs are located
is it correct it searches for files in database $ORACLE_HOME instead of agent$ORACLE_HOME?
Anyway I tried to configure agent using agentca -f - it finishes without any errors - just a few warnings like :

omg - you are absolutely right! I did a mistake in my agent's .profile file. OK - now it uses corrent emctl. :)
But ...still it is not ok. emctl status agent shows correct output but in OEM most of targets has status "Metric collection error".
I know it is difficult to guess what is wrong with my configuration so maybe could you recommend me any articles, webpages where I can read from scratch about agent and OMS services. I do not want to just configure it. I want to know general concept and all rules how it works as well as all usefull tools and configuration files.
of course all other suggestion regarding my issue are welcome :)

Any know what "Agent" is, by Ceniom, Inc., (Powered by Kaseka)?

One of my teachers brought me her computer because it was running slow. After doing my normal cleanup, I noticed she had a blue icon with a white "k" on her menu bar. There doesn't appear to be a way to quit or exit. It says "About Agent...", which brings up a window saying it's "Powered by Kaseka". There's also a link to "Ceniom, Inc...". Both appear to be some sort of malware/virus removal companies. The user has "no idea" how it got there. I can't find it anywhere on her system, though. It's not in Applications or Utilities, there's no preference pane, and it's not in Startup Items.
Any ideas what this is and how to remove it?

Testing Agent

I have some questions about agent :
In my memory, when we scheduling a scenario, we must restart the agent to compelete the scheduling.
Is it wrong ? in this case is it possible to automate this operation ?
Another point about agent : I have a agent in a unix machine and I want to know how i could verify if agent is ok and in case of not, restart it.
Is that someone has already done this ?

A: Yes, you are wrong. The agent will read his schedules when he starts, but also, you can use the update button in Topology, or use the OdiUpdateAgentSchedule tool within a package. Create a scenario from the package, and you can then call it from the os command, or even schedule it. Maybe a good idea is to schedule the refresh to run each day before any batch processing to ensure you get all that has been scheduled.
Q:Another point about agent : I have a agent in a unix machine and I want to know how i could verify if agent is ok and in case of not, restart it.
A: In ODI there is another tool OdiPingAgent which is used to detect the agent. You could schedule this in a scenario to test the "peer" agents and res-start them if required.
