Doc files have been renamed to unknown file format .bhdiraa

Hey All,
Randomly doc extensions files are being renamed to doc.bhdiraa .It looks like files have been encrypted.
Files are shared on the server and served by 100s of users (From WAN and LAN end).We did scan server with Many AVs
and with virustotal.com
but couldn't find any malware. we do have "not so updated" backups. Does anyone have any solution on recovering data?
immediate reply will be appreciable
Thanks in advance.

You might also try renaming the extensions to docx or zip (just in case they're docx file and not just doc files) and seeing whether you can open them with Word or Windows.
If that doesn't work, you might need to use some commercial software like Malwarebytes (https://www.malwarebytes.org/) for recovery. There is also a free version you could try.
Cheers

  • How to display Doc file format in the JEditPane?

At this time , JEditPane supports RTF and HTML file format ,but
Could anyone tell me how to display DOC file format using JEditPane
    or other JTextComponents?
    Thx a lot!

    Hi,
there is no support for doc files (M$ Word?) in Java. You would have to create your own classes for that eventually subclassing JEditorPane, EditorKit, Document etc. As well you'd need your own reader for the doc format.
The problem I see with that however is that there is nothing such as thedoc file format. Microsoft just saves anything produced by MS Word into files ending with .doc. But, if there is anything such as a .doc file format, it changes more often than the weather in April.

  • Owner and group have been switched to unknown.

I have a server 10.4.9 running on an Intel XServe.
Lately some of the folders have been changed from the correct owner and group "staff" to owner and group "unknown".
Strangely enough when a user logs on to the server from a client machines and views the permissions on the folders they are all owned by the name that logged in and to group staff. Other folders are simply shown with the permissions they were created under.
    Is this normal?
Is "unknown" some kind of feature to allow users to see files and folder as if they were owned by the users login name.
Could someone please explain this to me or point me to some reading material regarding this. If it is found in the manuals please tell me the approximate location.
    TIA
    Hans

If I were to guess, I'd say someone turned on "Ignore ownership on this volume". Select the volume in question and Get Info, then see the check box at the very bottom of the properties window.

  • Relink sub clips that have been renamed

I had a problem.  I created a series of sub clips and changed their names.  Then I deleted the source files and had to redownload them (sports event).  I relinked the main files but the sub clips I can't get to display how do I relink those?

Thanks for the reply. That seems like such a huge function that's missing from the architecture. I mean, The reason I wanted to rename the clips on the timeline instead of in the Project window is because where I'm identifying something as being "VFX Shot 01" it might include a clip from the media file "A001C001" which also have a different portion of video in that file which will provide a clip that will be "VFX Shot 33". So I'm unable to apply my naming structure, unless I go through the timeline and 'duplicate' the source clip and re-drop it back onto the timeline. The frustrating thing is that the Project Manager is already aware that it will have to create multiple files originating from the same source file, if that source file provides multiple separate clips on the timeline. So why would it take the naming of those files from the Project window instead of the timeline, where they're better identified? I guess all I can do, now that I have my trimmed project, is go through the clips one by one again and reveal them in the project window and copy/paste the name from the timeline, then use the Project Manager AGAIN to create the new file names. Bit of a pain. Will have to put in a feature request with the guys at Adobe.
Thanks for replying though Ann, much appreciated.

  • I have been getting an unknown installer icon on my desktop.

Sometimes I keep my computer on while I am at work. About a week ago I came home and there was an unknown installer icon on my desktop labeled "Installer." I thought nothing of it and just deleted it. This happened  about four of five days in a row and then it stopped. Today it happened again. When I click on it it just tells me to double click on a package icon. I don't. I just deleted it.
What do you think this is?

You installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • TS1424 Some but not all of my purchases from iTunes store (TV shows) have been downloading in a Quicktime format that can't be viewed via iTunes or on apple TV (1st gen).  I get error message when I try to convert.

Since I have a new iMac and now use Mountain Lion, I am observing that TV shows purchased in iTunes sometimes download in a Quicktime format that will not open in iTunes.  In some but not all cases, I right click "open in" and select iTunes and then it will play.  However, this doesn't always work.  When I open in Quicktime and try to export to iTunes, that won't work.  When I try Wundershare's Video conversation program, it won't even accept the file.  What's going on here?  Any ideas?  Please reply [email protected] with any suggestions.

    Thanks for the help Ricky.
I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.

  • How to find out when a folder or a file has been renamed?

I need to find out when a folder and some files have been renamed.
This happened when Mac OS X was 10.6 (Leopard Snow), now the Max OS X is Lion.
I use standard HFS+ filesystem format.
In Lion apparently there is a file property "Date Added" that change if a file is renamed, but the same property seems to be unused (e.g. -/-) before Lion.
I have Time Machine backups that help me to know that rename happened within a certain week, but I was looking for something more accurate (at least day accuracy).
If file system metadata can't help, I'm wondering if there is some log that track the first time spotlight indexed a specific file.
    Thank you
    /Andrea

Maybe you could keep tabs of the file size. If the file size grows (which it will do each time the writing process flushes that files output buffer), then the file was written to.
What I'd like to know is if there is some way to monitor the entire drive for changes and respond to stuff like that. I know that the Win32 API provides services that monitor the file system for changes, but I don't know if other OS's do... or if Java provides an interface to those features.

  • .doc files on Mac OS 9

Can somebody please help me find a really really good free program that can open .doc files?

Hi, elsa71923. The program(s) I linked above, icWord and icExcel ($20 each, $30 for both) have the following capabilities:
"Use icWord or icExcel to easily open on your Mac any of the following files:
    Word (version 6 to 2004)
    Excel (version 95 to 2004)
    PowerPoint
    AppleWorks (version 5 or 6)
    ClarisWorks (version 5)
The display on your screen matches the original, showing you the document as it was created on a Macintosh or a PC.
    Use icWord or icExcel to:
    View documents
    Convert to other formats
Copy/Paste text and graphics into other applications
    Print documents"
icWord will not translate files from other word processing formats into .doc format, except the AppleWorks and ClarisWorks documents mentioned in the above-quoted blurb. And icWord is not a word processor; it's just a viewer, with the addition of those very limited file-translation capabilities. You can't revise a Word document in icWord and send it back to the person who gave it to you with your revisions in it, nor can you create new documents from scratch in icWord. For that you need a real word processor and a real file-translation utility like MacLink Plus Deluxe, which Don has mentioned above. But for the person who doesn't have Word and needs to view documents in .doc file format, exactly as they were created, icWord is a good solution. And as I wrote above, you can download it, use it free for 30 days to see whether it meets your needs, and only then decide whether or not to buy it.
RagTime is a powerful page-layout and desktop publishing program, developed in Europe and better known there than elsewhere. I suspect it's much more complicated than what you need, but as Michael says, it's completely free (the RagTime Solo version, for private use only), so you can try it out and see what you think.

    Hi olivias,
It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

  • I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and all of a sudden they wont open and an error message comes up saying they were improperly downloaded or came in an email attach which is not the case

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and I have used them several times and all of a sudden they wont open.  I received an error message saying they are improperly downloaded or came as an email attachement which is not the case.  Please advise

They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen.  I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF
I just created a new document response.doc in word and when I saved to my desktop it appears as a PDF file and I absolutely did not create a PDF or save as PDF it was a simple word
    doc.
The message says "Adobe reader could not open response.doc because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example attached in an email and not properly decoded)
The reader version is I believe the most current, I always update when prompted.  OS is Windows 8

I have been working on a file in pages which I cannot open now. Every time I select it "an error occurred and pages must close" appears and pages shuts down. I have tried to duplicate the document but cannot open the copy either. I am unable to email, share via iwork, itunes, idisk or WebDAV all of these options just close pages down. Does anyone have any ideas......Thank you

And you are quite persistent, Menu Boy, in offering pernickety and pointless prattle, in response to a "support page" on iPad's buggy Pages App.
Let's summarise, for those reviewing this threadless thread for app support..
Mobile pages works reliably for simple docs, especially creating letters and Menus for Microsoft's Kindy canteen (even on special days with nice big pictures).
When importing more complex docs and/or working with larger creations, it is prone to randomly corrupting files upon re-opening, along similar lines as Word (running on a PC).
So, Menu Boy, do they let you sneak into classes every now and then? What is the secret to their training? "Say after me, if any I.T. product works just some of the time, that's a job well done, and if something randomly stops working, we call that the user's fault... And if they complain, we call them names."
