Doc size in Dreamweaver

Is there any document size in Dreamweaver when we design a
website (just like in Flash)
How do we pull the page content in the center of the page?
Is table still used with the advent of CSS?
Thanks

Nor do I.

There is no stage size.

That markup will result in a 760px wide container on the
browser's viewport.
Anything placed within that container in the HTML page will
be constrained
to a 760px maximum width (EXCEPT for images that might be
wider, or for
content that might have an explicit width greater than 760px.

By 'dynamic' do you mean 'data-driven' or do you mean
'compelling,
attractive, engaging, relevant, etc.'?

One photo's document size says 60M at the left bottom of the image, I saved it, became 2.8M. Another photo's doc size 50M, I saved it , became 12M. Why?

You're looking at several different things.
File size is the size of the compressed image data plus file format overhead for whatever format you select.
Flat document size is the size of the document if flattened, but not compressed.
The document size in memory is how much RAM is used by the document, including all layers and other data it needs.

  • Photoshop CS6 & Doc Size & File Size???

Working on a collage and have a relatively scall document, 6"x10" at 300dpi and used the Place command to add images and arrange and have 14 layers. The images were resized to fit using the Transform scale too. Was watching the document size at the lower left of the document window and it showed that the Doc was 34.3 M/178 M. Looked good so I went to save the beast as a PSD. At 75% of the save it threw an error message saying the document was greater than 2GB in size. Hmm, why did the doc size show otherwise. So ended up saving as a PSB whic worked. But the responsiveness of my system went to hell until I shut down Photoshop. I mean it was almost unresponsive. Starting Photoshop again, opening the PSB and making a few changes and my system was flying again. So maybe processing the PSD then throwing the error managed to grab all the resources.
So maybe there are two issues I have seen, one is Photoshop reporting the wrong doc size and the other bad error processing?
Photoshop CS6 with the latest patch applied, Windows 7 x64 with 16GB RAM, i7 processor.
Here are a couple of screen shots that show the doc size problem

I appreciate your desire to make Photoshop work the way you want it to, but why not consider placing the images as flattened raster layers?  Work at a higher resolution if you're concerned about losing quality in moving them around and rotating them, but you should really ask yourself:  Why do I want to fight with this ridiculous "smart object" embedding scheme and fight with such a huge file size instead of doing it the prudent way and ending up with a file that's much more efficient?

I can not answer for Mike but I can tell you why I do collages some what like Mike placing user image file in as they are.  Populated Collages done that way are still Photoshop Layer Documents and can be tweaked by the user.  If you flatten and change image files on the user you destroy work that they have done creating layered images so they can be tweaked using these layers. The way I look at it is populated collages are works in progress untill they ready for final output. Flattening and Pasting in resized image are destructive processes and may even change composition by croping images. I feel it best not to distroy users work if at all posible.  Let the user do that if they wish to.  Using Smart Object let user use any image file they want, Any size, resolution and Image format that Photoshop support.  If the user chooses to use RAW files, PSD files  or any other it their choice and they may have a good reason to use PSD files for a given collage.  When the collage is ready for final output the user is free to flatten and save a compressed jpeg if the wish to save disk space and keep a copy of the collage. They do not have to save a layered collage if they don't wish too.  They only need to that if the batch process collage for later tweaking or the want to continue to work on the collage at some future date.  You don't fight you use smart object. They are only huge if you save layered files their rendered layers are not huge. If the filel is falttened the total rendered flat layer is just canvas size.

  • Illustrator Doc Size Limit

I design large wall graphics and displays. I do final art in Photoshop with no real limit to the size of my document.  Why is there a limit to doc size in Illustrator.  As a vector design package I don't understand what seems to be an arbitrary limit.  I'm forced to scale my designs down when working in Illustrator and scale them back up when I import them into Photoshop.

You'd need to ask in the ExportPDF Forum

I want to migrate my custom new doc sizes from cs6 to cc/cc2014 where can i find that file to copy to new versions of Photoshop?

Yes it look like Adobe migrate presets misses your new document size presets.  I was able to copy my "New Doc Sizes.psp" preference file from CC preferences to CC 2014 preferences a manual migrate at best.

  • Reduce Doc Size When Exporting

Is there a way to reduce a page size when exporting from InDesign? I have a 20 x 30 poster want to export at 50% and make the pdf @ 10 x 15. Thanks.

by print to pdf do U mean make a ps file instead of exporting, correct?
Well, here's the thing... the orig question was a generalization of what we are trying to do.
The actual file is 19 pgs of panels that are 20 x 30. We need to make pdfs for the client to look at on screen. The file is huge when we try to make pdfs by exporting... even at the smallest file size and then reduce file in Acrobat. We found that reducing the doc size & making pdf yields a much smaller and more manageable file size, but it takes very long to postscript. We were just trying to avoid that step. Thought for sure the was a way to reduce the output size when exporting.

  • Objects outside doc size not showing in Save for web

    Hi there guys,
For no apparent reason Ai CS3 started to hide elements outside the document size when saving for web. It was working perfect this morning but then it stopped. I have tried may documents, checked for crop marks, trim marks, clipping masks but I can't figure out what's wrong. I know I can make the document size bigger but this will slow me down a bit. Does anyone know why this is happening? Why I can't see the elements outside the doc's boundaries when I save for web? Let me know if I wasn't clear enough.
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Dan

You, you are my savior, Jesse!!! You, you are! Man, I was going nuts with this. I guess I must've checked it accidently. Well, new trick learned here. Thanks a million.

  • UI font size in dreamweaver is too small - can it be changed?

    Hi,
I just purchased Dreamweaver CS6 and found to my dismay that the UI font sizes are so small that I need a magnifying glass to read them. At least they give the option for larger UI font sizes in Photoshop, but not in dreamweaver - as far as I can see.
This was one of the reasons I abandoned dreamweaver after version 8 (Macromedia).
Adobe really needs to sort this problem out for different screen sizes and accessibility. Even freeware authors get it right.

I agree, but it is not only DW that is a problem, most of the applications that I use, including this forum, have the same problem.
My solution, I wear a pair of IT-glasses, sort of like reading glasses that have been further refined for the screen.
My solution prior to that is as follows
    Right-click on the desktop
    Select "Screen Resolution"
In the Screen Resolution dialog, there are 3 options in the lower center.
Click "Make text and other items larger or smaller"
Chose one of the 3 pre-set sizes <OR>
In the left column, click "Set Custom text size (DPI)"
Then scale the ruler until the text size suits your needs.
This had the unfortunate consequence of reducing the workspace, hence my glasses.

  • Setting page size in Dreamweaver

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to set the page size. I would like to avoid annoying scroll bars (horizontal and vertical) appearing.
    Here's an example :
    http://www.mihaiedrisch.com/pages/index.htm
Thank you very much for your help.

Gosh!  Your question in my mind is quite vague and I think that you first need to think about what you want.
One suggestion would be to try a few of the layouts that are available to you as default pages in Dreamweaver and see how those pages are contained (or not)  There are a number of permutations for a page layout including fixed width, elastic and liquid (I get elastic and liquid mixed up).  I use DW inCS4 and there are a heap of possible page layouts available.  They are different to templates in DW.  I don't know what is available in other versions.
I think that scroll bars are avoided partly, by not fixing width/height on elements that contain content that is bigger than that element.  For instance if you fix a height to a <div> that is 200px and you put text in there that will go to 400px then your visitor will need a scroll bar to view it.  If you don't set the height and accept that the <div> can expand with the content then no scroll bar is neccessary.  There are other things that you do but I think that's the nub of it.  I always think of the WWW as a land of compromise.  There are so many variables but at some stage the designer has to make firm decisions about what to go for.  This includes thinking about your potential audience.  What size monitor you think they might have, what browser they use and to some extent how computer savvy they might be.
When you layout a page using CSS you have a range of ways to set sizes.  This includes px values, em, point, % and there might be others!
I'm already tying myself up in knots trying to explain this stuff!
I'd suggest you do a bit more research and possibly say a bit more about what you would like to achieve.  I didn't really get the link you posted.  Is that your site or an example of a site you would like to emulate?  That page by the way, on my 26" monitor doesn't look so good - but that might be about the different ways we see the world.
There, that should kick off the discussion.  We can wait for an expert now to point out whether I'm misleading you!
    Have fun

  • Default doc size on jump to

I am making a 24 x 18 doc in PS then using the jump to feature for illustrator, When the doc opens in AI the default doc is 8.5 x 11. I already have changed the default doc to the 24 x 18 in the plugins folder, How can I get the jump to from PS to open at the size I send from PS or at the 24 x 18 ?

I don't actually recall that item on the Mac in CS 2 but then my memory is not all that keen.
Since I do not have CS 2 loaded I guess I cannot help the feature is not listed on the CS 4 menu as you can see and perhaps for this reason.
BTW should always sate the version that you are working with and something about the platform and OS.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

  • Setting window size in Dreamweaver... Help!?

I am working in Dreamweaver CS3. I am trying to set my index
page window size, as well as the sizes of linked pop-up windows.
If I recall correctly, there used to be spot in page
properties where you could set the size of the page. This is not
here in CS3. Is there a way to do this still?
Also, for the pop-up windows... when I attempt to add a
behavior to spec size for this, I lose my current rollover states
    in all my images.
This is driving me crazy! Any words of advice would be very
    helpful. Thank you.

Be aware that it's a bad practice to mess with someone's
    preferred browser
width settings. Most people would think it's even rude since
    you make a
mess, and then don't clean it up.

  • Exporting Pdf in InDesign - Doc Size Changes

I'm trying to save a file as a pdf doc in InDesign. I've done this a million times with no issues, but I must have changed something in the way InDesign now save. The document I made is 24" x 28". The document size after I save is 28" x 32"??? I don't have marks and bleeds checked, so I'm not sure why it's saving larger?
    Thank you for your help!

Do you have bleeds or slugs enabled?
How are you determining the size of the PDF?

  • Correct Edge doc size for DPS

    Hello all,
Wondering if anyone can help me. I've created an edge document for use on a page I'm designing. Whenever I preview on my ipad, the edge document doesnt fit the frame size properly ( frame size is 2048 x 1536 ). I can only see a little bit of it in the corner. The indesign page is 2048 x 1536 so I created the edge doc in the same dimensions. Is this correct? What is the correct method for creating edge docs for DPS. I'm a bit confused...
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Bob,
Yes I'm aware that its not the best size to be creating these at. This is the way I've received these from my client. Are you able to advise further on my Edge problem? What is best practice for creating an Edge document for use on DPS layouts?
    Thanks

  • Edge Animate Stage size in Dreamweaver fluid grid

I have developed an animation and have almost everything scaling and resizing acceptably in a Dreamwaevr template...except the stage.
In Edge animate I have a stage size that is 1212px x 400px. When the animation is viewed on a PC all the dimensions are fine, but when viewed in tablet or mobile phone, the vertical height remains at 400px... which leaves an enormous gap between the bottom of the animation and the next div.
I have set the stage dimensions to %, and have turned on the "link width & height" switch, and the stage still does not respond in vertical height.
How can I get the stage to respond vertically with a fluid grid layout in Dreamweaver?
I also note that every time I open up a previously saved Edge Animate file, the stage automatically opens the file at 550x400px, instead of the correct dimension for that animation, so that I have to then reset the stage size to what is correct for that animation... ..any reason this may be so?
    Thanks,
    Glen.

Thanks for your reply. You're right about most people not resizing their viewport during a session, but unfortunately the problem exists whether the screen is being resized or not. Refreshing the screen doesn't solve the problem.
The width of the div adjusts to the width of the screen as expected and the Edge Animate composition inside it does too, but the height of the div doesn't adjust. As the animation gets smaller to fit the width, the height of the div that contains it remains the same, leaving empty space at the bottom of the div. What is needed is for the div to scale to fit the page width proportionally. Instead, only the width is adjusting.
So I guess I need to know if there's either a way to force the div to scale proportionally or a way to tell it to adjust to the animation that it contains.
