Unable to Create Oracle Model When Migrating from access 2000 to Oracle

Hi ,
I am migrating an access 2000 Database to Oracle 9i using Oracle Migration Workbench .
I was sucessful in creation of Source Model ,but when I try to create the Oracle Data Model - Oracle Workbench
HAngs . In short the Oracle Model creation log screen hangs .
If any body has faced any similar please help me out .
Please suggest a work around for this problem .

Can you provide a reproducible test case so that we can confirm the behavior here and log a bug? More detail can be found in the log/Error.log in case there is a java exception that is being thrown.

Migrating Japanese Characters from MS SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 9i usng Jsp

Hi ,
I have a situation where the Japanese characters are to be migrated from MS SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 91 and then render the same using JSP.
I followed the below approach,
1. Extract the Japanese data from MS SQL Server and generate an XML
2. Parse the XML and store it into Oracle 9i database which is of UTF-8 encoding.
3. On retreiving and rendering using the Shift-JIS adds few junk characters additionally.
When I try to copy paste the Japanese contents from XML to a text file, it is working fine.
Could some one help me in resolving this issue?
It is very urgent, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is documentation in the reference guide sent with the workbench, there is this discussion forum, the support web page (which includes tech notes and FAQ's), and the company specific procedural language documentation.
There is also an older document for use with the old sybase toolkits which may be obscelete, and there are some internal documents which were for internal consumption.

Please I have two questions
i) I am trying to migrate an access 2000 database to Oracle 9i and I am at the point where it asks me for the ODBC data source please where do I get this information.
ii) ALso please can anyone tell me what are the 5 layers involved in migrating an access database to oracle

Migrate Access DB to Oracle

Hello,
I downloaded migration tool and did the migration of Access 2000 to Oracle.It worked great..
But, I am not seeing the converted database in Oracle.Not sure, if I am missing anything.
I have the converted XML file.
If anybody throw some light on this, I would really appreciate it.

you need to use that XML file in the Oracle Migration Workbench and go thru te process of loading the XML, transforming it to the Oracle Model and creating your Oracle Schema in the database. This is all documented in a step by step method in the user's guide

Hi All,
I need to migrate a same data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 9i.In sql server Export option is there, but the problem is some 30 tables have More than one LONG datatype column in a table. That's why oracle not allow to import.
Could you guys find any tool for the same.

Access to linux oracle migration

Hi. I have a huge access application and database that I am
trying to migrate from access to the linux version of oracle 8.
I have the access application and database in seperate mdb files.
Is there a way I can convert this db to oracle 8 for linux and
preserve all the rules in my database. Also what will happen to
any of my queries that use directsql. Thank you very much.

and this will migrate application and database to Oracle on any
supported platform (including Linux).

Go to Migration Toolkits
and pick the MS Access kit for Oracle 8.1.5
We hope to have a plugin that will allow users to migrate from
Access to Oracle8i (on any supported platform) in the very near
future. This plugin will work with the Oracle Migration
Workbench.

Connection JDBC d'un PC Windows NT a une base Oracle sur IBM AIX

j'utilise un driver JDBC pour me connecter a une base Oracle sur
un serveur Unix IBM AIX a partir d'une station sous Windows NT4
(SP6)
Par contre, lorsque je lance la connection il m'affiche une
SQLException : Exception d'E/S : the network adapter could not
establish the connection
Donc de quoi ais-je besoin entre ma station NT et le serveur Unix
pour me connecter ???
Sinon j'ai entri ca comme parametre de connection :
JDBC Driver : oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
URL : jdbc:oracle:thin:@<Adresse IP du serveur Unix>:1721:orax
(orax : nom de la base de donnies)

The only cause of this is broken native code.Technically correct and I agree but (and you knew this was coming)....
First of all http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/faq.html#14 This may or may not be part of the problem here. I can't say for sure. But the bridge driver is not multi-threaded. Sun is pretty straightforward in saying so. Since it is (contains) native code if you treat it otherwise you need to expect bad things to happen.
More importantly though...
EdwardKing is using MS Access. Access is a single user desktop database product not a database service (let alone an enterprise database service).
So multiple connections hitting a Access database may well cause unpleasant things. One can blame the driver yes and ultimatley the source point for the actual error is there I agree but EdwardKing is in reality to blame for trying to use a product (Access) for which it was not intended.
And this leads me back to my original point which is that even IF another driver supports connection pooling to Access in reality it isn't much of a connection pool at all. Because (a) there is no actual network connection and (b) all the queries will be lining up one at a time to lock the underlying file to do things anyway.

PS Another Joe will be along later to possibly comment on the suitablity of the use of the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver. However once again I would just like to point out that my underlying concern is that Edward King is trying to use Access as if it were SQL-Server or the like and it is no such thing.

Direct upgrades from 9iR2 to 11gR2 require that you be at least at version 9.2.0.8 - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e23633/preup.htm#UPGRD12358
If you are at a lower level than 9.2.0.8, and want to perform a direct upgrade (using DBUA or manual scripts), then you will first have to apply the 9.2.0.8 patch from MOS (See the README of this patch for instructions).
Then follow the directions in the Upgrade Guide - Contents
Another option, as Serguisz stated, is to perform an export/import, but that is typically slower than a direct upgrade. The solution will depend on your requirements, how long an outage you can tolerate and the size of the database.

en fait j'ai fait recourt à Database Connectivity Toolkit, j'ai fait une petite recherche et mon premier essai était ci-joint. il consiste en la creation d'an tableau dans access qui va contenir tous les données et qu'il doit fonctionner normalement. mais c'était pas le cas chaque fois, lors de la simulation, une erreur se produit

Migrate existing data base to oracle 10g and cluster it

we are currently using sql server 2000 and due to some servere dead locks in the application and due to some load issues we wanted to migrate it to oracle 10g.
At the same time we wanted to have clustered environment in the same server
That is windows server.
Can any one suggest how migration can be done..easily ie..by oracle migration work bench or what...

This is re-engineering from one database platform to another.
You will have to take into consideration several aspects of your application, from SQL comptability to the application performance (SQL) in the Oracle environment.
There is no magic to this puzzle, the amount of task involved in moving from one database to another depends on complixity of the application and how many database operations will have to be changed. I would suggest /recommend that you should start with a POC on a specific module /area (probably the most complex) of your application and this should give you some idea in the efforts of doing so.

Visulaiser un fichier existant ( txt ou doc) sur mon VI par active x

voilà, je souhaite visualiser un fichier en .txt ou .doc sur la face avant de mon VI en passant par les actives x.
Je ne veux en aucun cas lire un fichier et utiliser un indicateur de chaine, c'est très important pour mon programme.
En résumé je souhaiterai avoir sur la face avant du VI la visualistion de mes fichiers txt par le bloc note ( ou par word) qui s'ouvre a un endroit bien précis.
Alors, j'ai déjà essayé plusieurs combinaison par les actives x j'arrive à créer un document, mais je n'arrive pas à ouvrir un document existant.
serait-il possible de m'envoyé un exemple de diagrame de VI car je suis vraiment coincé!
je programme sous labview 8.2.1 ou labview 7 express

Lecture sur 2 ports d'une DIO-32-HS sur front descendant d'une horloge ?

Je voudrais effectuer une lecture sur 2 ports, sur front descendant d'une horloge (Je voudrais faire cela sur 2 ports d'une carte DIO-32-HS, sachant que j'ai préalablement configuré ces 2 ports en entrée digitale, puis je les ai groupés. J'ai aussi généré le signal d'horloge à l'aide d'une PCI-6602).
Ma question ne concerne donc que la lecture sur les 2 ports : comment puis-je la faire sur front descendant de l'horloge ? Je précise que je voudrais réaliser une lecture de la donnée présente sur ces 2 ports, pour CHAQUE front descendant de l'horloge (et envoyer au fur et à mesure les données dans un buffer).

Pour vous aider dans votre développement de programme, je vous conseille d'utiliser les exemples de la bibliothèque CVI, spécialement celui situé au chemin suivant : CVI\Samples\daq\di et il s'appelle DISingleBufExtTrig653x.prj.
De plus, je vous joins un document très intéressant concernant l'utilisation des cartes DIO. Des exemples en CVI y sont également illustrés.
