Dock cable broken after only 1 month of use

I use the dock cable to connect my ipod classic 80gb to the sony stereo in my car with the usb port. After 1 month of use the cable doesn't connect to the stereo anymore and say Usb not device and only if i put the cable in a strange position it works for sometime and than again usb not device , than it works and after a bit it doesn't work anymore.I try to connect to itunes but the problem is the same. The cable cost €19 and i don't want to buy another because surely after a month it will be broken again so i just want to know why this happen.Someone can give me an advice?

Can you try eBay for the docking cables, since you sound like a cable destroyer.
I think on eBay, the cables are less than €9 or if from some Oriental countries less €1 which maybe where your fragile cable comes from.

  • IPod not charging after only 6 months

After only 6 months, my iPod (color display) seems to have stopped taking charges. When plugged into computer, a very faint image appears saying something like "Battery power very low." We brought to an iPod store. They said the battery is fine, and sold us a cord for plugging into wall outlet. We left it charging overnight, but it still doesn't work (it does work while plugged into wall).
Could the battery really be dead after only 6 months?
Does it really cost $80 to have a battery replaced?
Is there really no way to get support from Apple directly to answer questions like these?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Please note that
Normally, the battery should needs to be replacement around 18 months, yours is 6 months -Hummm.
Where did you buy it? Are you sure it is a brand new one? iPod with colour display have came to market for quite some time.
Try to do a reset and recharge your iPod again.
If still does not work, you can go to Apple shop again, your iPod should covered by 12 months warranty

  • My battery has a current max capacity of 97% after only 2 month ...

    Hi everyone.
I don't know if I'm a little bit paranoid but I just checked the current max capacity of my battery (Macbook Pro 2012 13") with different softwares as Battery Health or Battery Guard (available on the App Store) and it reads 97% after only 2 month and 3 cycles ... Is it normal?
I'm kinda worried, the loss of capacity seems so fast, to me ...
More details : this capacity was 100.6% just before I tried to calibrate it. I followed the advices of Battery Health :
    1) Charge the battery until 100%, then wait 2 hours with the Macbook plugged
    2) Use it, until it shuts down by itself, then let the Macbook 5 hours at least without charging it again
    3) Charge the Macbook until 100% again
After this manipulation, my max capacity lost 3 percent ... Is this something I did? Is it normal?
Does the Macbook have to calibrate his battery again? Then, what's the manipulation to do to calibrate it (I looked for it on the Apple website, but I can't find a step-by-step)?
    Thank you all

Battery capacity degrades over the life of the battery for a lot of reasons and will fluctuate from day-to-day by a percent or two.  Instead of using apps to read the battery, you can get all the info you need right from the system itself.  Click the apple in the upper left corner, About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Power and then just read the battery Capacity, charge Cycles, Condition, and Voltage.  As long as the Condition is Normal you are fine.
Although Apple says to calibrate the battery by discharging to shutoff and then recharge, that in reality is not good for Lithium-technology, and it does not calibrate the battery, it calibrates the charge reporting circuitry.
If you go to the Battery University site, an independent group that has done a lot of studies of batteries, you can find information on prolonging Lithium-technology battery life.  One thing that is clear is that deep discharge cycles are very degrading on battery life.  Optimum balance of use/life seems to be around a discharge to 50% and then recharge.  Also, temperature is a major player in shortening battery life.
At thiis point, don't get too hung up on the battery capacity, use the MBP and enjoy it.

  • HD on msi gx 660 broken after only 1 years why???

I  brought my notebook in the support center and they say that the hard disk is broken. How is possible after only 1 years of use?On my pc that i have since 2001 it never happen!!!I cannot explain this!

Harddisks do break, happens more often then you think.
There isn't much to explain about it.
They are precision devices, a simply bump when running is enough to kill them if you are unlucky.
It can be a number of reasons, even a small piece of dust during manufacturing can kill them.
Do some research on harddisks, then you find it's a miracle they work so well with so delicate mechanics.
    To start:

(yes is desktop, but laptop harddisks are the same only smaller).
Ok thx i just want to know another thing.Do u think that external hard disk that could be connected to pc through usb are more fragile that another internal the pc?Because on my pc not the laptop i have a full hard disk so i have the doubt of buying an usb hard disk or putting another inside the pc,but some people say that the external hard disk are very fragile instead of the internal ones.

Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Good afternoon, I would like some information I have an ipod nano 6th generation and has the same one-year warranty is only 2 months of use, and it fell down and broke the glass of the display, I called technical assistance in Brazil and informed me that Brazil has no repair services for Apple, which was the basis of its price change in the exchange is not worth half the value of the product.
I wonder how I do to change this device without the expense of 50% for the same product is in warranty?
    Thanks in advance.

yes agree, plus a multinational seeing a product and has no technical assistance to do the maintenance then it's no use I buy a new product if it is damaged I will always be because it has no prejudice in this maintenance.
sorry but even more products coming from China to Brazil in technical assistance.

  • Why did my Apple TV die after only 14 months?

I have an Apple TV MD199LL/A I purchased 11/20/12. It died sometime this month.  I have run all the diagnostics, swapped out cords, hooked up to my Mac to try and restore--nothing works.  I know it is the unit because I moved my other identical device to this room using all the hookups from the other device and it works fine.  When I say dead, I mean no indicator lights, nothing--also iTunes does not even acknowledge the device when hooked up to the computer.  Is the lifespan on this device only 14 months?

Bad luck I'd say - assume you've tried a different power cord in case a fuse has blown?
The original AppleTVs, of which I still have several, got very hot and I think that contributed to many of them failing within a few years.
The new black models have much lower power consumption, only just get warm and in theory should last much longer than devicesusing hard drives.
That said a small percentage of any product will fail in or just out of warranty - most don't, so probably as I say just the luck of the draw.

  • Y500 motherboard dead after only 18 months

My $1000 laptop is dead after just 18 months. The motherboard is unrepairable and my hard drive has stopped working. It has been having issues starting for at least six months but now it is dead for good. I'm pissed because Lenovo won't work wih me to repair it. They want almost $600 for a new motherboard and hard drive. That's without them actually touching the laptop. For that price I can just buy a new laptop. You can be sure it won't be a Lenovo. Apparently, they are ok with people paying a premium for their products that last less than half te lifespan of their competitors. I am so angry right now.

  • Hard Drive crashes after only 9 months?

I've had my MacBook Pro only nine months. Light photo/video and e-mail use.
Just installed the 08 iWorks and iLife.
And it crashes?? Is this SOP for a Mac? I'm stunned. I chose this laptop for its reliability, non-crashing reputation.
    Anyone else have this problem?
I'm at a loss for words to describe how disappointed I am.
    Un-be-liev-a-ble.

I don't know about how typical it is, but personally, my Mac is at AppleCare Repair receiving its third hard drive in 7 months. I've had a mix of outright failures & irreversible corruptions that require replacement. I'm hoping to get the machine back with some new memory &/or logic board also this time --- it's becoming quite clear that some other part of the notebook is eating my hard drives for lunch.

  • My new IPad Air is hot after only 10 minutes browsing using cellular network and also wifi.

I just bought IPad Air few days ago, and start from day one very time I use the IPad for browsing internet, it turns quite hot and it is very uncomfortable. Please give me solution for this.  Do I need to bring the IPad to Apple service or I can do something in the device to fix this problem. Because the device really hot after 10 minutes. I used to have IPad 2 and still have it actually and never experienced the same thing, it works very good until now. Thank you.

The iPad Air battery is bigger, it has a more powerful CPU and GPU and a brighter, higher-resolution screen than an iPad 2. Warmer is normal. Too hot to touch is not.

  • If my ipad accidentally dropped and screen is broken and only 4 months since i buy, does apple will change or fix it?

If i accidentally dropped my ipad and screen is broken, does apple will change or fix it,my ipad is only 4 months

It will cost you approximately US$219.00 to US$299.00 depending on the model.
Apple will replace the entire iPad; they don't repair.
(If you have AppleCare Protection Plan, you will pay a lot less)

  • Swollen battery after only 5 months ?!

So I've had my MacBook Pro 13 inch mid 2012 for like 5 months and while using it today the trackpad went all funny and it wouldn't click nor would it work properly it would just start doing it's on thing on it's own , anyhow I tried pressing on it etc to get it back to how it originally was , and then it did , but then a couple clicks later it went back to being stubborn and not clicking so after Abit of googling , I came by all these threads about MacBook Pros battery swelling and was wondering if that may be the cause and how I could find out if it is WITHOUT OPENING UP MY COMPUTER . As I don't wanna void my warranty ! Cause not long after that the whole trackpad became stuff and it wouldn't click it work at all really and I feel as though my battery had swelled , cause it sounds like what everyone else with a swollen battery has gone through . So anyway I've made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the apple store on Wednesday , I have 7 months full warranty left , do you think they'll check it and change the battery or what ? Thanks

So anyway I've made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the apple store on Wednesday , I have 7 months full warranty left , do you think they'll check it and change the battery or what
Yes. Don't open up the bottom enclosure. As you said, messing with it could void the warranty. Usually, battery swelling problems apply to older models, but it could be the case. Whatever the underlying issue is, they will address it when you bring it in - free of charge under warranty.

  • My ipad just went dead after only 7 months

my ipad wnt dead and i only had it for 7 months

    Can you define "wnt dead"?
Have you tried putting it on the charger, leaving it there for at least 30 minutes, then resetting it (hold down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red Off slider, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons) while it is still connected to power.
If that doesn't work get it serviced, it is still in warranty.
