Dock Charging Problem. HELP?!?!

My iPod Nano 3rd Gen will only charge through a cable and not any dock. Why? Is there a way to fix it?

What are these "docks"?  Did this work before, and does not now for some reason?  Or are these docks being tried for the first time?

  • Car Dock Charging problem?

My car dock does a great job of holding my Droid X in place in my car. However, whenever I connect an auto charger to the car dock (with the Droid X in the dock, of course), it never charges the Droid X at all. When I connect the auto charger directly to the Droid X, it always charges just fine.
Has anyone else had a problem with the auto charger working through the car mount?
Also, in case anyone cares, even though Google Maps Navigation is quite good, I find that I like VZ Navigator much more. My only complaint is that it only gives you one verbal notification for each and any upcoming exits or turns. I would prefer several verbal notifications - such as one from two miles away, another from one mile away, another from .5 miles away, or something like that. Can anyone tell me whether Google Maps Navigation provides more or multiple verbal notifications for an upcoming exit turn on a highway, for instance? Either way, if I could only hear any such notification with a louder volume for the speaker on the Droid X, it would be great.
So, anyone else with a a charging problem through the car mount?
Also, anyone know which navigation program provides more verbal notifications for upcoming turns in case you did not hear the first one?

I have the same problem with not charging while in the car dock.  I've used the dock 3 times now, and had problems on 2 of them.  On both occasions, it was originally charging and working on the car's power.  After a couple of hours, the phone quit charging, and drained down to 10% power before I reallize there was a problem.  I found the phone to be extremely hot, and the phone woljuld not charge either in the car dock, or connected directly to the charging cord.  Once the phone cooled down, it began charging again.  It appears the battery is overheating; perhaps from the heat of the sunlight coming through the windshield?

  • Playbook charging problem help needed

I am having the same sort of charging issue. (I will start with the most recent)
I charge the PB on the stand charger and the wall plugin and get the charging bolt, but after 8 hrs. or more the battery icon shows 0%.
Knowing this, I can remove the PB from the charger and the PB is usable except for some apps wont load, and crash to home screen.
As of now the battery shows 0% after charging all night (11 hrs.) it's been on and running now for 5hrs without a charge and the battery showing 0%!
I know from past experience, explained below, that if I try to restart I get the 5 flashing lights and have to plug the PB back in for a minute or two to get it to turn on again, it won't turn on unless it is plugged in.
    Additional background....
    - Charging irregularities started after os2 upgrade.
    - I did a security wipe and Os reinstall twice. The first reinstall attempt didn’t let me get passed the "waiting for PB to reach 20% before continuing" stage so I unplugged and thought I would try again when I got home, as I was at a hotel. When home I put PB on charger and magically the download started. Charge got up to like 57% and didn’t move after completing install, restarted and it was at 0% again. Put it on the stand and it turned itself back on like it’s supposed to do.
    - second security wipe reinstall went a bit better but it wouldn’t go past the terms of agreement - select country page unless I did a restart 2 or 3 times to keep it moving (done while plugged in wall charger or on the stand charger)
    - PB sometimes would charge but then would "stall" and remain at the 47% or 80% with no change in power display and again wouldn’t restart unless plugged in. And when restarted when plugged in after very long charge and display showing a charge of like 77%, would come back on with a low charge 10% or 33% etc. very erratic!
    - Most recently Friday May 4...i thought problem was solved! Charging looked normal. Charging gradually when up to 100%. Used playbook battery showed normal discharge for 3 - 4 hr. off and on use off charger; down to 70 - 80%. Put back on charger for a while and charge would come back up. Put it on charger over night after a day of use and back up to 100% (something that had not happened in quite some time)
But then Sunday, the charging mystery returned with the battery display "stalling" at 57% with no change after normal use and charging for a few hours, I did a restart and again got 0% battery. Even after the above 11 hour charge it's still at 0% for 6 hours unplugged and powered on!!!!  WTF??

  • Weird charging problem help please

every morning when i wake up, its always at 92%. then if i just unplug it and plug it back in, it will start going to 100%
why does it always do this?

well ... from what i've read: if the battery falls below 40%, some irreversible chemical reactions lower the overall capacity of the battery.
This is likely not true for the battery technology in the 3GS.
if you keep it at very high voltage all the time (so at 100% or so) it shortens the battery life, so it will die earlier.
    This is definitely not true.

  • Still Having Problem with Battery Overheating with Car Dock/Charger when using Maps/Navigation

I'm having a problem with the battery overheating when using Google Navigation in the OEM Samsung car dock and car charger.  On a trip last weekend, I started off with a fully charged battery (because posts on other sites have complained that the Charge cannot keep up with the power draw of the Google nav app while using the car charger).  About an hour into my trip, I got a message that the battery was overheating and to unplug the charger which I did.  I then had to contend with the screen going out because it was running on the battery.  I let the phone discharge to about 70% then tried the car charger again.  Within a few minutes, I got the same overheating message.  It was not an overly hot day and the car A/C was set at 68 degrees.
This morning (with the battery at about 85%) I tried to use the Navigation without the car dock while charging and got the same results...the phone battery overheated and I had to unplug the charger. The battery temperature reached 116 degrees. (also, the battery level was also dropping while using the Maps or Nav application even though it was hooked up to the car charger).
I'm very disappointed with this situation since I was hoping I could replace my old Garmin GPS with the Charge.  But between the phone dimming the screen while running on battery, and having a depleted battery in the phone at the end of the trip, its just not a viable option.  I really like this phone, but I'm running against the "return" clock.
    Any ideas?
Could this be a software problem that will be corrected by an update in the future?
fyi:  other Charge problems in the last 5 days:
    - dropping audio on calls to other Verizon phones.
    - use of camera flash causing the phone to reboot.
(I do have the 'class 4' 32gb card in my Charge)
    Thanks in advance,
    Rich

    Jerry:
Yes, the phone is charging while in the car dock.  I confirmed it both under the "about phone-status-battery status" menu and by my battery widget.  By watching the battery widget, I also noticed that the voltage steadily increased over the ride home.  It started at about 3.90 volts and ended at 4.02 volts.  I don't know if that is significant.  This time the battery did not overheat.  The Max temp was 110 degrees, but no notice to disconnect came up.  This might be because the sun was behind me on the drive home rather than beating down on the dash like it was this weeked.
I've ordered a cheap universal dock from Amazon for about $15.00 which clips onto the a/c vent.  I want to see if this keeps the temperature down.  If this works, I can still return the fancy-schmantzy Samsung OEM car dock. (The car-dock interface wasn't that impressive anyway).
Please let me know if the volt change means anything.
And thanks again for your help!
    Rich

In the worst case, it's still under warranty (all 7th gen nanos are still under one year from purchase).
So, you disconnect it from power, and it almost immediately goes dead?  You can try a Restore... but it doesn't sound like the type of problem a Restore will fix.
You should probably have it looked by Apple Tech Support.  If there's an Apple Store nearby, you can take it to the store's Genius Bar.  To avoid waiting, you can make a reservation at the store's web page

In most countries they will do so for a fee. US$199 for a 4S. It may just need a new battery, which Apple will install for about US$70.

  • Help-Charging problem with MicroPh

To both of you guys heres is the deal:?First of all Im not a pro in? Computers or mp3s or electrician... But I want to help cause if it wasnt for the help I get from forums/the Internet I wont be writing this right now. I have to say that this forums are the WORST I have ever seen for Customer Support and even between the Users, Like yesterday I saw this post in wich this guy was asking for some kind of help("knowlage") and this other guy who replied was with this attitude like "READ THE MANUAL"... thats BS I say. I would like to change that kind of attitude from some of the users of this Forums(they know who they are:smileytongue. Guys, you know we are alone in THIS. You get the classic "Robot" like response from some of the Mods wich some of you guys expect them to help us solve our problems with our mp3s. I dont. And yet some of you appears to me that?dont care?to ?give a guy a hand with their problems. Come on guys lets be more cooperati've and help each another,ok?Now about that charging problem, you didnt gave a link for the adapter or a link for the picture of it but with the description you gave me I can picture it on my head. When I was looking for an adapter for my ZMP I too looked at those kind of power adapter/charger you both mentioned. But I was not confident about those so I went for a creative one from JR.com but then after I placed my order with them I went to Ebay and found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Creative-Lab...QQcmdZViewItem??

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch 4G Charging Problems

The third-party charger that I have been using for a year stopped working. I eventually figured out it was the charger, not my PC or iPod. So I use my old Apple charger that came with my iPod which stopped working somewhere in mid 2012 early 2013 (got iPod on Christmas 2011). When my iPod dies, I plug it in with the Apple charger. It will boot up unless I touch it, even a bit, and I have to reconnect it to charge it. Then, while I'm not there, iOS boots, as usual. But, it shows a charging battery in the corner, but the lock screen has my wallpaper, not the battery. Everyonce in a while when it's plugged in, it will go from 20% to having the full charged symbol, and it's not fully charged. Everyonce in a while it also says "Charging not support with this accessory". Also erlier today when my iPod was plugged in, it made the charging sound, one after the other, four times. And nobody was there and the charger was exactly how it was left. It is starting to get really bad and I might get a new (sorry, non-Apple) device. PLEASE HELP! Thank you.

  • COLOR iPod charging problem and resetting...

I have a 3 week old 20GB iPod color display, i have 2 other older ones, never had any problems... now I plug in the color iPod to the supplied USB charging cord and it appears to be charging and when i remove it from the computer it shows a full battery. After 30-60 minutes of playing the screen goes to the APPLE, flashes a bit, then the low battery icon appears and the thing is dead. If I hit reset, it stops the APPLE from flashing, but it's still dead. This has happened twice in 2 days... Anyone else have any charging problems? Can I plug this into my Firewire charging cord for my 3rd gen iPod to test the cord?

As long as your Firewire cable has a dock connector that fits your iPod it should work on it. Make sure that your iPod is plugged into the charger for 4 hours or until the iPod screen displays "Battery Charged" and shows a solid green battery, not a flashing one.
I've been having a similar problem to yours lately. Mine worked perfectly up until about 2 weeks ago. My battery drains itself completely within a few hours of unplugging it after being fully charged, so tomorrow I'm going to send my iPod into Apple to be replaced. So if you're sure that your iPod has been plugged in long enough to fully charge and you are still having this issue, you should call up AppleCare or go to the iPod Service Website to get your iPod replaced: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Quite a lot of people with one-month-old 20GB color iPods have been having these same kinds of problems with charging. I'm beginning to believe that a bad batch of 20GB iPods was manufactured in July. Hope I helped.

    Try:

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
