Dock Gone, MultiTouch Gone, Blue Wallpaper?

I have a 2.4 GHz Unibody Macbook.  The other day, I bumped it a bit hard and it turned itself off.  When I tried to start it up again, it basically relayed symptoms of the HD failing.  I read a few different things, and was ready to replace the HD, but I decided to try taking everything out and putting it back in. (HD, RAM).  Once I did this, The unit started up telling me one of my RAMs was not seated correctly with the beeps.  I tried several times, and it appears I am down to one 2GHz stick of RAM from two of them.  I then started up my MacBook and this time it started up fine.  However, a few things are wrong.  My wallpaper has been turned into just a light blue background, which I cannot change in System Preferences.  My dock has disappeared, which I also can't see through system preferences.  I am unable to use any of my multi touch gestures on the track pad.  I am not sure if this is an issue with my preferences, or if I should just reinstall Snow Leopard?  I have a backup of everything, and am typing this from said MacBook.  I just can't access my dock, and do a lot of small things.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Restarting has not helped either.
Thanks in advance.

My dock is gone, my wallpaper is blue, and nothing I do changes anything.  I repaired disk permissions, and nothing happened.

MY iPad has a red blotchy screen and keypad has gone blue, any ideas if I can rectify this?

This happened to me a few times. Take the case off and sit down, give it (Back side of ipad) a hard smack on your thigh, but do it in a way that the back lands flat on your leg. There are some component cables that can come loose and this smacking motion can cause them to go back into place.

If none of that helps try this...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.

  • Screen gone blue

screen has gone blue and no settings have been changed.

Make an appointment at your local apple store and have them take a look at it.
you can try resetting the device, hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple. See if it reboots. But honestly, even if it does, I'd take it in and have the pros take a look at it.

  • Blue wallpaper showing on 2012 Macbook Pro

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro 15" running the latest Mountain Lion software. Today, when I turned it on, the wallpaper was a blank blue colour (normally it uses a folder of my custom images). I had to go into system preferences to recheck the boxes. I then added another desktop, and that came up with a blank blue wallpaper, which I then had to go into system preferences to fix.
This has only happened after the latest mountain lion update, which makes me wonder if it is something to do with that.
Any help with either fixing the issue or any reseting that needs to be done would be verymuh appreciated

No, you'll have to contact Adobe if you want to upgrade to CS5.5. sig just gave you the link to teh Roaring Apps website that lists comapatible software for use with Lion and Mountain Lion. If I were you, I would just go ahead and update to CS6 - or begin using Adobe's Creative Cloud. Since I had purchased a qualifying product (CS6 Design and Web Premium) I was eligible to subscribe to Creatiev Cloud for only $30 per month. Even at $50 per month, it's a great deal - all of the Adobe software you'd ever need for about 1/3 or less of your cable bill.
Good luck - check out the free one month trial of Creatiev Cloud - http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html.

  • Light Blue wallpaper always... I cant change it

I am getting this blank blue wallpaper and i dont know how to change it...I try to change it but it wont work, i dont know what to do.
    Thanks,

Your profile indicates that your OS is 10.8.1.  If that is the case, update to the current level, !0.8.2.  Perhaps that may solve the problem.
If that does not work, go in the user LIBRARY>PREFERENCES and trash 'com.apple.desktop.plist'.
    Ciao.

  • Desktop photo, dock gone

On our G5 we have 4 users setup. I noticed last night I could not select a picture in iPhoto 6 and apply that as the desktop photo in my wife's user login. I could change the desktop photo in system prefs for the dock though. This characteristic wasn't true for me (I could change my desktop photo via iPhoto 6).
This morning I was reading through iPhoto threads and someone suggested in system prefs, security, deselecting the box 'require password to unlock each secure system pref'. This was not checked on hers but for grins, I selected, then deselected it.
Now her dock is gone. Also her desktop photo is gone (just shows aqua blue). When we check our desktop system prefs it correctly shows the photo selected. If we choose another photo, nothing happens. I have tried deleting her dock.plist file in prefs but nothing happens. I have restarted several times and tried repairing permissions.
This phenomenon is only on her user, not system wide. Anybody offer any help?

Thank you, I think I fixed it. Held F12 during start up.

  • Dock gone, desktop inaccessible

My Dock is gone, I can change preferences but it has no effect. Everything I had on the desktop is still there but clicking it has no effect. I can access files on the desktop by using the "Go" menu. The desktop is a solid blue even though it is set to dark gray. If I log out it and come back in it is canned background that you get when you first buy a Mac. Shutting down sets the background back to blue. I have been on 10.4.10 for several weeks with no other problems.
Rest the PRAM to no avail.

    Hello Ethan:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    Try a couple of things:
    Trash preference files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.dock.plist
    restart
Run repair disk from your software install DVD.

  • Imac G5 screen gone blue

    Hi,
I have a G5 Imac and just today out of the blue (no pun intended) the screen has gone to having a bluish tint. Turned it off and back on, tried some different programs, same blue tint. I found the "Video and Power issue recall", or whatever the repair is being called and my serial number is listed. Does anyone have any experience with this, and does this problem possibly explain the blue screen?
    tia,
    E

You could try the following first, but a repair may be required.
iMac G5: Fails to startup (From an article at MacFixit)
Some users are reporting an issue where iMac G5s fail to properly startup -- apparently at a hardware level -- never reaching the Mac OS X startup splash screen (Apple logo with a spinning progress indicator).
Note that in cases where the system does reach the Mac OS X startup splash screen or further progression but stalls, software issues may be to blame.
    Potential fixes
Disconnect external devices External devices -- especially those that draw power from the system -- can cause issues with startup that manifest either at the beginning of or later in the boot process. Try temporarily any external FireWire or USB devices then re-attempt startup and check for persistence of the issue.
Reset SMU Although this workaround was not successful in Connors' case, resetting the iMac G5's SMU (system management unit) as described in Apple Knowledge Base article #301733 can resolve a variety of power-related problems, including sudden-onset startup failure.
Check power cables Check your power cord for a loose connection. As noted in the aforementioned reader case, unplugging and re-plugging the power cord can sometimes result in a successful startup -- likely the result of a more snug fit.
Also, power cables can become defective or ship in such a state.
Try exchanging the power cable from a problematic machine with a system that starts up properly to eliminate this as a potential cause.

  • My desktop and dock gone

When I restart or turn on my iMac, I get to the account screen, but once in my account, my desktop and dock are gone and replaced by a grey screen. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • IPad screen has gone blue/green and will not work

My iPad 1 screen has gone to black when it is turned on and willl not work. Screen stays blue/green for about 30 seconds and then turns off. Unit is charged fully and has been updated to current operating software. Gerry

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If that doesn't work then you could see if you can get it into recovery mode and restore it to your last backup : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
But you might need to contact Apple.

  • I have an apple 1 tv and the colour has gone blue and yellow.  What can I do?

Colour gone on apple tv 1 - what can I do?

    Oops - AppleTV1.
    Unpower and restart it.
    Check the HDMI cable.
    Change the HDMI cable.
Use a different HDMI socket on the TV.
Try it on a different TV to be sure it's not your TV.
If not using HDMI try component out to the TV.
If you can boot to diagnostics menu (menu and down arrow for 6 secs) run diagnostics.  You can also factory restore from there but that wipes it to shipping firmware (if version 1.0 it can be a faff to update it again) and removes all content ans settings so beware.
If all fails I suspect a failing logic board or GPU and it's probably not economical to repair even if Apple would offer you a repair which I doubt.
