Dock icon font for iCal.

Hi--looked around and could not find this. I would like to know what font controls the display of the date in the dock icon. It's gone funny recently. I think probably I loaded a font that conflicts with Apple's preferred font for the application and/or replaced it.
I know it's a small thing but the icon displaying with the date all wrong offends my tender typographic sensibilities!
Thanks for any help.

riz,
It appears to me as if there may be cache corruption problems with your system.
Start up in "Safe Mode," then restart normally and repeat the "Resolve Duplicates" feature of Font Book.
If that is unsuccessful, download and install OnyX, which has a Font Cache cleaning option in the OnyX>Cleaning>Fonts>System and Users section. Other choices are also available in that section which may or may not apply to your system.
Good Luck.

  • Changning the dock icon font

Does anyone know where the update script is that changes the date in the dock icon? I switched the blank iCal icon so my icon replaces the normal one, but it still has the old date style and I would like to change it.

  • Dock icon bounces for no reason (seemingly)

I have my iChat set up so that the dock icon bounces when someone logs in, but occasionally (somewhat often) is does one bounce seemingly for no reason. I've left the window visible so I can see if it's someone logging in and out really, really quick, but it's not that.
    Any ideas?

It also bounes if the chat window is not the front one and there is more sent by your Buddy (or Buddies in a chatroom/group chat).
It does not bounce if your Buddy changes their Status Message.
It will bounce if the Buddy list has lost the sort order and the new person coming on line is out of sight on a long list (Or in a closed off group tab)

  • Compatible and up-to-date apps do not start. (Dock icon appears for just half a sec)

    Hi everyone,
I'm running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on a Mid-2010 MBP 15" i7. I did a clean install on my new SSD and restored my Time Machine backup. I have an aftermarket 8GB RAM and a 240GB SSD installed on it.
Some of my applications (like Geekbench, Growl Uninstaller, etc.) do not run. The developers claim they are compatible with 10.8 and I have the latest updates installed. The app icon appears for like a tenth of a second. It doesn't even run long enough for its icon to expand to normal size!
Can somebody please help with this?

Sounds like one of those right-hand icons can't find the correct icon at first. You can ignore it or reset the LaunchServices database using this one-liner in the Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/). Copy and paste it in and hit the return key, then restart:
*/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user*

  • Can't stop the dock icon bouncing when there is an "alert" from Thunderbird

I posted this question on the MozillaZine forum, but no-one there answered so I thought I'd try here.
I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 for my email. Is there a way to stop the dock icon bouncing when there is an "alert"? These happen relatively frequently in connection with my Yahoo account, and every time the icon bounces until I go to Thunderbird and click "ok" on the alert box. This is slowly driving me nuts. I have disabled the "animate dock icon" setting for new mail, and for my whole system when programs start or open, but it hasn't had any effect on the behaviour of the icon with regards to alerts.
    Thanks.
    C

Sorry, I am not trying to be difficult. I'm just lost.
Hey, no problem, really... we're here trying to help & just need to find out what is needed to help!
You really should right click on the whole Thubderbird folder and Archive it first, so we can go back if need be.
Then, it appears that if you just recreate the account, with the name, email, server, and smtp, then everything comes back for that account... at least for global accounts.
If you wish to hold off on this then just move the original .js back and start T-Bird again, then I can search for a way to edit the existing .js file, because for some reason, when you change your prefs back, it's not changing that file like it should.

  • ICal dock icon wont update in Leopard

My iCal dock icon has stopped updating the current date.
I have dragged the icon off the dock and re-dragged a fresh version from the iCal application but this only works for the current day where again it will not update the next day.
I have had Leopard for almost 2 months and this problem has only just started in the last week.

Yes, I have the same problem as well. And it started happening after the recent software update. I have also tried the suggested solution - dragging out the icon and restarting, but it still doesn't work.
When I upgraded to Leopard I was happy that everyday the iCal icon updated the date automatically, but I think the Tiger way of launching iCal at login and hiding its window would have to be the solution in Leopard as well

  • ICal Dock Icon Sync

My iCal icon in my dock reads APR 26 (yesterday) yet, when I open the application the same dock icon switches to APR 27 (today).
However, when I close the iCal application the dock icon reverts back to APR 26 (yesterday).
To help matters, my iCal time zone support preference is turned on.

I have the exact same problem. I have not changed anything. This is probably a bug or something that has gone bad with Mac OS X (10.7.2). I have not found any solution for this on the web.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2).

  • Dock icon update current date without having iCal running?

Hello, minor thing - I typically leave my computer on all the time. I don't use iCal too often but I have the icon in the dock. I am wondering if there is a way to have the dock icon update without launching iCal? It would be nice that the current date is displayed when I view the dock. I guess I could schedule iCal to be launched and then quit once a day. I don't know, any suggestions?

    I have a few suggestions.
    1) This is a free alternative: http://www.objectpark.net/mcc.html
    2) Search MacOSXhints for a way to change the dock date daily. I read a hint there a few months ago for doing this: http://www.macosxhints.com/
    3) Wait for the next iCal as I would be surprised if Apple doesn't build this in to iCal 3 given how many times folks ask this question.
    4) You'll like suggestion #1.

  • ICal Dock Icon wrong

Recently my dock icon for iCal has been lagging one or sometimes two days behind the actual date. Before it was updating just fine, now I have been noticing this problem and can't seem to fix it. When I open it up it displays the right date, but when I close it it reverts back to an older date.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Same problem here. Showing 4 Dec in the dock, changes to 5th when I open iCal, reverts to 4th when I close it. Not sure but it might have been since I installed the latest software update direct from the Apple site. I had already updated through Software Update but did the direct one after noticing errors when repairing permissions.

  • Alert indicator on iCal Dock Icon

My iCal dock icon has a '1' in a red circle. I assume this indicates an alarm for an event or ToDo. How can I find the event or ToDo in question? And, can I instruction iCal that I don't want it to be showing the indicators on the Dock Icon?
    Thanks for any assistance
    John
    Mac OS 10.5.8, iCal 3.0.8

    John,
My iCal dock icon has a '1' in a red circle.
That means that you have an event invitation. Click on the envelope icon in the bottom left corner of the iCal window to display the invitation.
...can I instruction iCal that I don't want it to be showing the indicators on the Dock Icon?
Go to Mail>Preferences...>General>Add invitations to iCal: (Never)
    ;~)

  • ICal Dock Icon Query

My iCal Dock Icon has a red circle with a "one" in it - similar to unread emails in Mail.
I'm sure this is an alert of some kind - but what? How do I locate it?

    ArchiTexan,
Welcome to the Forums! Now I'm using 10.5.6 so it might be a little different but for me I goto:
Show -> notifications from the menu bar along the top. That badge is for notifications and invitations. If you want to turn it off so they don't automatically add goto preferences and turn off Automatically add invitations from Mail.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • ICal Dock icon not changing

It's the 2nd of February today, but the dock icon still shows that it's the 1st. When I open iCal, the icon switches to the 2nd, but reverts back to the 1st when I close iCal. I'll check again tomorrow, but this might need a fix.

Oh awesome, it worked thanks! I forgot about plists, silly me.
    For reference, navigate to:
    [yourusername]>Library>Preferences>iCalExternalSync.plist
Delete the plist file and logout/in- should do the trick. Thanks teorema67!

The icon of faceTime doesn't appear in the dock just space for it and i can turn on the faceTime when I click to the space

If the above doesn't work, try a reset.
    1. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together)
    2. For about 10 seconds
    3. Until you see the Apple logo (very important)
    4. Ignore the red slider

  • ICal weird dock icon after 10.7.2 update

    Hello,
I updated yesterday to 10.7.2 and since then, iCal is showing one weird icon in the dock, when it is not running.
It looks like a trabsparent image with the current date in the middle in black.
When iCal is running, it shows then its normal icon as expected.
I am using a macbook pro mid2009, 2,53MHz, if that matters.
I removed and added back the icon to the dock, but the bahaviour still persists.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?

I've got the exact same problem, MacBook Pro 4,1 here. As you can see it's really tricky to see on a dark background:
Running the app makes this go back to normal...but only when the app is running. Note that the icon also looks like this in Launchpad.
I've looked through various forums and have tried all of these proposed solutions (evidently this is a common occurrance in previous iCal updates):
    Trash Dock preference file
Trash iCal preference files (all of them)
    Trash iCal Caches data
    Repair drive permissions
    Reboot
Pull icon out of dock and re-add it
None of those, except the first one, do anything. The first one "fixes" it briefly as it resets the Dock to defaults. This causes iCal to revert to the default icon all the way up to the point that whatever process goes in, grabs the current date, and alters the icon to show the current date. Whatever that process is, it's the one with the corrupted or missing icon graphics. If any one knows anything about what updates the iCal icon to show the current date, that would be the first step to fixing this.
Anyone else feel like Lion has been the buggiest OS X release thus far? Granted, I didn't use 10.0 or 10.1.
