Dock icon says there are unread messages - there arent' any

Since a few weeks I've had this problem:
Every morning I go through my e-mail, after reading every one of them and marking them as read, the Dock icon tells me there are still unread messages.
Even selecting everything in my inbox (28512 messages), marking everything unread and then marking everything read (an operation that takes quite a while) there are still unread messages left, according to the Dock icon.
The only way I know how to fix it is to restart Mail.
Anyone know what's going on here? It's getting quite irritating...

I, too, am having a problem finding "phantom" unread messages. I've got a number of accounts set up and three of them are showing this problem. It started when I needed to restart mail from a time machine back-up after a problem with my system. The mail messages were all imported into the mail database and some show now as unread. I've been through all the in boxes and found no unread messages...
any help would be welcome.

I am using my Droid RAZR M phone, and the messaging app that comes installed on it. Under app info it says version 4.4.2-15. I haven't downloaded any other messaging apps.
I have also deleted ALL of my text messages from anyone & rechecked my voicemail. I still have "1 unread msg" and it is driving me crazy! LOL
    Thanks for your time!

I have, indeed, checked with my ISP and they do accept imap accounts. So I followed religiously their instructions, published in their setting e mail information for Mountain Lion website. The instructions were quite simple, and choosing imap was as easy as setting POP mail. however, the net result was that I could never connect with the servers to do anything with the mail. I know they are set up correctly, but when it tried to send mail, after a while an error message came up saying that it couldn't connect and gave me the option of dealing with a "connection doctor" or some such system. This I clicked on and noted that there were an awful lot of servers that it was trying to connect to some of which had been removed when I removed the setup addresses. The ones I wanted were, in fact, showing as connected!! It was obviously checking on anything that had been used in setting a server name from way back when and suffering with a severe bout of indigestion!
I think what really needs to happen is to get iMAC/Mountain Lion to regurgitate all that rubbish which is no longer a requirement, since I am only using three addresses, one from icloud and two from my ISP. I do not need the clogging up from redundant server names, but it seems that the MAC hangs on to everything just in case I may want to go back to them rather than set them from afresh!! I am not feeling too confident in trying to set the address that originally showed the problem, my BT one, and since this morning, it is almost working 100%, I'll leave well alone and see if it settles down. (One step forward and nineteen backwards!!)

There are text messages that I'm having trouble deleting.  With some of my text messages, I can swipe to the left and delete ... or press and hold, get more and delete to trash can icon. But there are some where neither will work. Can't delete. Help!

But once again, I do not want to lose my other texts, app progress, and photos. I could sync the photos but i would still lose the app progress and texts. I would only restore if it was the only option left, but the other space, as already stated, isnt the main concern. The main concern is those 'deleted' texts. If they go, then a good size chunk of the other space goes. I know you CAN delete texts for good. It worked fine before. All i want to know is why its not working for me now, and how to fix it.
I also know that when you delete texts on your iphone, they get marked for deletion, however they stay on your device (thats why they show up when you search for them.) then when you sync your device with itunes, the texts marked for deletion should disappear. When i synced they didnt disappear. Thats what i need an explanation/solution for. Why the texts marked for deletion didnt get fully deleted after the sync.

  • I have "unread" emails in my Mailbox and there are no unread messages there.

In my mailbox there are "unread" or "ghost" emails. My gmail accounts are perfectly fine however its my Exchange account that is causing me grief. I have now racked up 19 "unread" emails and 2 "unread" junk mail from the same account. I have tried making a smart mail box with the unread rule on, I have done a safe boot, I have gone back to the original sight of the email account and gone through all the emails there. I have turned the account off. I have deleted the account and added it again. I have tried highlighting all the emails, marked them as unread, and then marked them all as read. Still nothing!
I have no idea what to do now. Just 2 months ago I had my computer swept for viruses at the mac store so I'm hoping its not that.
    Please help!

    Delighted that helped
As I said, I think you tried many very good cures.
    Enjoy your Mac!

  • Mail Badge Indicates 5 Unread Messages, There Aren't Any.

I got Lion 2 days after it was released, a couple days later I logged into YouTube with my Google account, as I had logged out to log into another account. This was the first time I had logged into YouTube using this account since I got Lion, as I was logged in previously and it kept me logged in, Safari was nice and offered to set up that account for Mail, Contacts, and Calendars so, even though I already had the account set up for Mail, I clicked on "Setup", "Ok", or whatever it is that it said, and it set it up for me, this was all fine.
I then went into Settings and cliked on the new "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" button that was added in Lion, I noticed that it had the account set up, but then set up again for iChat, there were to accounts set up, one had iChat, the other had everything else.
So, I deactivated the one with just iChat, and activated iChat for the other one, well... it didn't like that, I check the box and it immediately unchecks, repeatedly.
I eventually just remove both accounts and setup the account anually for everything. That goes well, and everything goes fine.
Then, the next morning, I notice that I have 5 unread emails, on my iPhone 4 and my Mac. I open Mail on my Mac to read them, and I see no unread emails. The badge is still there, and the Inbox button has a "(5)" next to it, and when I open the menu to see all the mailboxes, it has a "5" next to my inbox there as well, but there are no messages displaying as unread.
I decide to go to gmail.com and view my inbox there. (Now that I think about it, I think that my iPhone didn't show as having any unread emails.) I see that there are 5 unread emails, I read them and hope that will fix the problem.
I'm here asking about it, so it didn't...
There are still 5 unread emails, I tryed restarting Mail, that didn't help, I've even restarted my computer a few times since then, I tryed removing the Gmail account, at which point the "5" goes away, but it comes back when I re-add the account.
The number does go up to 6, 7, 8, etc. when more emails come in, but it never goes below 5, I can have 1 email and it will display a "6".
Thanks for reading the lengthy post, I like to provide as much detail as possible.
    Any ideas?

This solved my problem perfectly and on the first try!!! Thanks so much!!!

Did you try disabling your mailbadge or deleting it?  Is this the MailBadge software?
or you just talking about the inbox count showing on the icon?
    IMAP or POP?
    You can try this
    1. Quit Mail if it’s open.
    2. In ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData, delete any file that begins with “Envelope Index,” ex. Envelope Index or Envelope Index-shm.
Found in your Home Library folder is hidden by default. To display it, choose Finder > “Go" and hold the option key down.
    3. Open Mail.
Mail creates new Envelope Index files. This process may take some time depending on how many messages Mail is reindexing.

Fix typo in error string for situations where there are advanced messaging configuration settings from LCDS used in the configuration files but no AdvancedMessagingSupport service. The error string said that there was no flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingService registered but it is the flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingSupport service that needs to be registered.
Add configuration test that starts the server with a destination that has the reliable property set which is an advanced messaging feature but there is no AdvancedMessagingSupport service registered.

    Hi,
Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
some port while in reality there isn't.
I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.

How do I delete excess email messages from my iPhone.  There are 300 messages listed, and every time I delete some, more are added from old messages.  How do I limit the number of messages that can appear on my phone?  How can I delete messages in bulk,

    You can't.
All photos transferred from your computer are stored in the Photo Library. The photos in the album or albums below are not duplicates - they include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library. This way you can view the photos in a particular album only by selecting the album, or you can view all photos available in all albums by selecting Photo Library.
Just as with an iTunes playlist. A song cannot be in an iTunes playlist unless the song is in the main iTunes library. Placing a song in a playlist does not duplicate the song. Remove the main iTunes library or the songs from the main iTunes library that are in a playlist and the songs will no longer be in the playlist either. This way you can listen to the songs in the playlist only by selecting the playlist, or all songs in your entire iTunes library by selecting Music under Library in the iTunes source list.
The same with iPhoto on a Mac. A photo cannot be in an in iPhoto Event or Album unless the photo is in the main iPhoto library. Placing a photo in an Event or Album does not duplicate the photo. This way you can view the photos in an iPhoto Event or Album only by selecting the Event or Album, or all photos in all Events or Albums.

DJTayLo, Let's get your voicemail working! I noticed you metioned that your Cellular Data is off. Visual Voicemail does need to be connected to Cellular Data in order to retreive voicemails for the iPhone. This can cause the notifications to be delayed. When you turn Cellular Data on do the notifications  then show correctly? Which model iPhone do you have? We'll figure this out.

  • JDBC adapter disconnects, if there are no message processing for 2 days

    Hi All,
I have sender JDBC adapter configured, which polls messages every 3 mins.
XI is constantly polling the database (SQL Server) and since there are no messages on weekends, after a certain interval, it disconnects... giving a null exception.
I have checked the advance option "Disconnect from Database After Processing Each Message". still it is giving this error. I am on SP 12.
Can someone please let me know, what could be the reason of this null exception. why does it disconnects if there are no message processing for a long interval.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Amit

It means we don't support that file type for doing imports. It sounds like a reasonable request to [add to the Exchange|sqldeveloper.oracle.com] though.
