Dock Indicator Lights Issue

Hi, can anyone link me to the default indicator light files? I deleted them by accident, now I can not see the indicator lights. This Mac version is Mountain Lion. I want the default .png files of the indicator lights for dock. Thank you!

You should probably download the OS X Mountain Lion installer from the Mac App store and re-install your OS.
It's against Apple licensing terms to ad-hoc distribute components of the operating system.

  • Dock Indicator Lights Gone

Greetings. Ever since updating to 10.8.4 my Dock indicator lights no longer appear. I've searched discussions and tried the following, all to no avail:
Type "killall Dock" in Terminal. Icons are the default set, but no indicator lights appear
Apple > Dock > Preferences > toggle "Turn on/off indicator lights" still nothing
System > Core Services > Dock and tried restoring from Time Machine....still no Dock indicators appear
    User > Library > Preferences > TRASH com.apple.dock.plist....nothing changed
Change from 3D to 2D Dock, in the hopes that they might appear....no luck
To note, I've used DockMod prior to updating to 10.8.4, but now there are no lights to be found anywhere. Might this 3rd party app be the culprit? If so, how to do I restore my indicator lights to factory settings?
    Please help....THANKS!

Probably, since my Dock indicator lights were unaffected by the update.
To uninstall DockMod you will have to consult its documentation, if it exists. The problem with such third-party system hacks is that they rarely survive OS X updates and often cause unanticipated, seemingly unrelated problems. Never install something without knowing how to uninstall it.

  • The dock indicator lights look fairly dim on the MBA display, but bright on external displays (LCD TVs for example). Any fixes?

    (MacBook Air mid-2012)
As stated in the title, I've noticed the indicator lights on the dock which represent an open/running application looking fairly dim as opposed to the previous dock design in Lion. After a little look around on the internet, there are some others who are having a similar issue, but I've noticed that upon connecting the laptop to external displays (monitors and LCD TVs), they look extremely bright and noticeable on that particular screen.

https://discussions.apple.com/message/19126554#19126554 This thread appears to address the same issue, yet its odd how the dock "raises" if connected to an external display in my case. I'm considering locating the image files used to display the dock indicators and photoshopping them to be brighter.

  • Help! Dock Indicator Lights messed up!

    I downloaded this app: http://download.cnet.com/Docker/3000-18487_4-175638.html
I messed around with it, and then I clicked 'Restore Apple Defaults' to change everything back to normal. After the dock refreshed, the indicator lights had been changed back to the old Snow Leopard/Lion blue dots, instead of the new Mountain Lion bars. I fear that the app altered the acutal indicator light image. How can I resolve this?
I called Apple Support and they said to contact the developer.

Go to your Finder "Go" menu choose "Go to Folder" and enter ~/Library/Preferences.
Then delete these files and restart or log out and back in.

    Can someone help me?

This looks like you have a third party app installed, like Dock Library.app or some such.

I'm confused. I just got an email from Apple Support Community (updates) and I see that a "baltwo" response is marked "This solved my question" (no offense directed towards baltwo). The question just seems to be more defined, not resolved. This is an Apple OS problem (seemingly) and needs to be directed towards a technical representative, not the community. I would ask that if anyone knows how to push this issue towards Apple, that is where the solution lies.
File a bug report with Apple via feedback. Do note that this goes through marketing and sales. No telling when it'll get to engineering. Alternatively, if you want to report this issue directly to Apple's engineering, bypassing marketing and sales, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering and you'll be able to track its status.

  • Some Open programs not showing indicator light in dock in 10.8

After upgrade to OSX 10.8 some applications are not showing the indicator light in dock when they are open, even with the check box checked in dock preferences.  Also, the only App available in command+tab is Finder. I think these are related.

I've seen this around various forums. It seems to be a bug although I haven't gone looking/asking to see if someone at Apple has noted it.
There are two fixes. Restart or open terminal and run:
    killall -KILL Dock
This will restart just the dock and that should fix the dock and the cmd+tab (which is part of the same process).

  • Has anyone had any issues with the sleep indicator light?

I have a 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz (Late 2009) and recently I have noticed some issues involving the sleep indicator light and my Mac sleeping.
I learned that the sleep indicator light is supposed to be on when you press the power button until the chime sounds and then its supposed to be recognized when the computer sleeps or when the lid is closed.
Lately, the sleep indicator light has not be working when the computer boots (it still chimes), when the computer shuts down or when the computer is sleeping. The computer still sleeps if you close the lid, but it acts up when you don't and use the Apple menu (Apple > Sleep), keyboard shortcuts (CmdOptionMedia Eject) or use the power button and select "Sleep". Usually when I use this method instead of closing the lid, the authentication login window appears and when I click "cancel", the computer sleeps.
But still the sleep indicator light does not appear any time. I'm wondering if I need to get my Mac serviced. I still have a 2-year Best Buy Geek Squad warranty on the MacBook Pro.
+It is weird that this is happening to me, cause my computer is only 1 year and 4 months old.+
Is there anything you know that would help fix this issue.

The microUSB cables are fairly common... most portable electronics today use them for file transfer/charging.
If the user does not own one, they can be purchased from most retailers fairly inexpensively.

  • OS X Mavericks made dock background color too light to easily see app indicator lights. Can I make the dock background darker?

Can I make the dock background color darker to see app. indicator lights easier. Installing OS X Mavericks made it too light.

Hacking around, I found a fix to my own zombified terminal problem.
Control-click (right-click) on the tab to the terminal and one of the options is 'MOVE TAB TO NEW WINDOW'
On moving the terminal tab to the new window, the old terminal window is responsive again (Allowing scrolling to old error messages, etc.)
You have to do this for each tab in the zombified window one-at-a-time
but you can drag all new windows back together as tabs to a single window if you feel like it.
Before trying this, I tried a lot of the other click options and the other options were as unresponsive as the whole terminal window with the problem.

  • Why don't the indicator lights come on under the icons in the Dock anymore?

    Hi,
A seemingly silly question, but it's bugging me.
The indicator lights under the icons in the Dock have stopped lighting up when a program is active. How do I turn them back on?
    Thanks!

Did you try logging out and back in again? That should clear it up.

  • My dock has 2 open application indicator lights below the application. How do i reset it to default Mountain Lion indicators?

I took this screenshot. I've already tried going to terminal and putting "killall Dock"

if you see indicator lights under apps that means they are still running in the background
open force quit window by either clicking on the black apple then force quit or by holding down command+option+escape
choose the application name and then click on force quit
in mac OS clicking on the red X only closes the window, not the app itself. with the app active you can always click on the app name that is to the right of the black apple on main menu bar and the last option is always quit the app
once it's quit out the indicator light will go away from the dock

  • Minor Keyboard Issue: Caps Lock and Num Lock indicator lights are wrong.

For a few hours, I have been having a small issue with my PowerBook G4 keyboard. The green indicator lights for Number Lock and Caps Lock are indicating incorrectly.
Thus, in order to be able to type lowercase, I must keep the Caps Lock key light on, which subtly annoys the **** out of me [Apple edited out "heck" ]. Num Lock is worse, because I can actually see it; it isn't usually covered by my left hand. Very distracting.
Rebooting did not resolve this issue. Neither did monkeying with the Keyboard system preferences. If I could just turn the lights off altogether that would be fine with me.
This is a recent 15-inch PowerBook G4 1.67 Ghz, with the dual-level dvd burner and (I believe) the internal keyboard is USB, now, instead of ADB as (I believe) many of the older ones had been, so many of those hacks like fkeys and Ucontrol and so on are not options (I believe).
    Any ideas? Thanks,
    Nick

I finally got it working again, I took the power out and the battery out while it was running. I made sure there were no USB/FireWire/PC-Card stuff connected when I did this. When it booted back up it was normal again.
I also figured it happened because I put in a kyocera EVDO pc card into the laptop while it was in sleep. When it woke back up it went nuts and had to be rebooted several times.

I see that you are having an issue with the light on the printer staying on solid.  One thing that you can try is to make sure you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip.  Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general.
Please click on the link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once you have the power cable in a wall outlet, power cycle the printer with the use of the ON/OFF button.
If you are still having issue or if you have any other questions, please feel free to write me back.
Hope you have a great Tuesday.

  • After upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.8, sleep indicator light remains off when I start my MB Pro

After upgrading to Mac OS 10.6.8, sleep indicator light remains off when I start my 15" MB Pro, but the computer works, and when I put it to sleep, the light flashes as normally. Any suggestions?

    Hi j,
An SMC Reset can fix some SIL issues. If everything is working fine . . . ? Anyway, it shouldn't hurt anything to try it if you want: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

  • Sleep indicator light not working

This isn't really that huge of an issue, but I've noticed that the sleep indicator light on my 366MHz Firewire iBook, which I recently bought on eBay and installed a few upgrades in, seems to not be flashing when the computer is asleep. At first I suspected a bad LED, so I swapped it out with a known-good indicator light from my previous 300MHz iBook. That hasn't seemed to work, and both display cables going into the motherboard appear to be securely attached. Oddly enough, I do recall one time when I put the computer to sleep and the indicator light worked (this was somewhere in the middle of my trying to get it to work), but I haven't been able to replicate it.

Have you tried to reset the Power Management Unit (PMU)?
