Dock items when is it too much?
Too many dock items will make your system slow down operating?
The Dock is like an application, and if not mistaken, runs from Core Services
so it really should not see items within it as much of a load. They're like aliases.
You can check up on the Dock in the Activity Monitor utility.

11 ways to Optimize your Mac's Performance:

Widgets in the Dashboard can slow the system somewhat. You can get another
widget to help control that usage, it is called Dash Quit and it will quit Dashboard
until you re-launch it. So any held memory or RAM is returned to the system.
My Dock is set to very small icon view, on the right side of the display; and I don't
have too many items in there. All together, counting everything, 27 items including
a docked open second web browser's icon near the Trash. If I print, another icon
appears... and so on. There are temporary changes in the dock, on occasion, too.
I don't know much about the dock itself, just how to change settings, & re/move stuff.
Good luck & happy computing!

How to sync when you have too much music
I have too much music on my computer to sync onto my IPAD. How do I make lists only and where do I change the settings?
You can create playlists on your computer's iTunes via File > New Playlist or File > New Smart Playlist . Smart playlists can be updated automatically by iTunes e.g. you can create smart playlists that contain a particular music genre and they will be updated automatically if you add music of that genre to iTunes, or you might have a smart playlist of 5* rated tracks etc
When you the sync music to the iPad, then on the device's Music tab you can select which playlist(s) to sync to the iPad -
S10e emergency shutdown when screen opened too much?
Type: 4187-5LG
When the screen is tilted too much the computer shuts down, and I have to remove AC power and the battery for 15 seconds before it can be started again.
I know it has a limit of 130 degrees, but the hinges are quite firm and it is not possible to tell when it is at the limit! - I have read the Hardware Maintenance Manual and was unable to find an answer.
Does the S10e have an emergency switch in the hinge, or am I hurting my new little workhorse?

Solved!
Go to Solution. This sounds like either a brute force issue, or your machine has issues. My friend has an S10 and I can open the screen right to the stops and nothing happens. Note that I'm not pressing real hard, I open it until it won't open anymore and then stop trying to open it more.
If you're sitting it on the floor and doing handstands on the two halves to get it to open more, then that would be the source of your problem.
Since I assume you aren't doing something like that, I'd bet you've got some wiring issue near one of the hinges and something is shorting out somewhere it shouldn't. -
Extreme switches off when updating podcasts (too much data?) - the saga
Issue:
When refreshing podcasts the extreme can actually switch off, the status light on the extreme will switch off and it will not appear in the airport status menu. to recover I have to power cycle the extreme. There is no difference if I download only one podcast or allow for simultaneous downloads at a time. After about 1 or 2 times the extreme will just switch off.
Under this same configuration, my iTunes library has no issue playing back any of the content only podcast refreshing causes the Extreme to shutdown after the specified time.
Configuration:
Three disks connected to the airport extreme using an unpowered hub by technika. All three disks are powered through their own power supplies and are formatted in HFS+ Extended (Journaled)
You can find a youtube review of the hub here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fihYOsQ1SQ8
iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.5 and all the latest updates. Disk Utility already run on the internal Macintosh HD and there are no errors to report.
Mac is connected wirelessly to the extreme's wifi network using 802.11a (I have yet to get it to connect using 802.11g.
Workarounds:
Despite the two other disks not being accessed by the mac, as a workaround I conducted two isolation steps.
I removed the other two disks from the hub while keeping the one disk with my iTunes Library connected through the hub, selected podcasts from the left hand side of iTunes and clicked refresh on the lower right corner of the iTunes window to get the latest podcasts to download.
-With the one disk connected to the hub, music playing back and podcasts downloading everything seems fine.
-I am now wondering if it's the hub or a limitation of the extreme or if it's because I am connected using 802.11a.
-Although I didn't finish downloading all the podcasts, I paused all intentionally and switched my mac to 802.11g successfully by changing the radio mode on the extreme to 802.11n only (5GHz) - 802.11b/g
-relaunched iTunes
-refreshed podcasts again
-The podcasts all stopped due to an error (sorry for not noting it)
-connected to hard drive directly to the extreme and restarted the extreme for good measure
-airport extreme not visible by mac wirelessly, reset extreme by pressing the button on back of extreme, which didn't do anything for some reason, power-cycled extreme.
-Launched iTunes and refreshed iTunes Library
-I noticed a few things, podcasts stop downloading due to err= -3150 or -3259
-more spinning beach balls in uTunes than usual (disk and network activity are the likely causes.)
-This setup seems flaky at best. Apple does not document this so I don't believe it's directly supported but it would be nice but I can see a lot of caveats beyond what I described.
I don't know if this helps anyone who is trying to do the same but I would say this should be avoided as I don't think the firmware on the extreme can support this, iTunes 10.1 doesn't seem to work well with this setup as there are errors when downloading and it gets a bit sluggish with iTunes experiencing so many disk and network activity issues (beach balls)
Moral of the story, I will go back to connecting my iTunes library disk directly to my mac unless someone has some clever solution or suggestion.
Here are the setting as per Airport Utility in Manual Setup
Airport Icon>Summary
Version 7.4.2
Wireless Mode: Create a Wireless Network
Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
Internet Icon>Internet Connection
Connection Sharing: Off (Bridge Mode)
Disks Icon>Disks
3 hard drives connected.
Tried with iTunes Library Disk alone connected through the USB hub and directly into the Airport Extreme in an effort to isolate the issue.
Disk Icon>File Sharing
Enable File Sharing - on
Secure Shared Disks: With Airport Extreme password
Airport Disk Guest Access: Not allowedHi... mine crashes too, but it has to do with erasing a large amount of files.
I got my airport extreme the other day, very excited to be able to plug my 500 gb drive into it so my wife and I can back up our machines using wireless (time machine). I had already had a years worth of backup on the hard drive, and didn't realize that over the base station the way its backed up is different from when the HD is just hooked directly to the computer.
So, well... took forever to do a fresh back up, and then I went to erase my old time machine folder on my drive and every time I would request the delete over the network... crash the airport. I tried several more times, incl just doing a little folder. I ended up having to plug the drive directly into my machine and erasing it that way (over 700,000 files... so, not sure the Airport is designed to handle all that).
This might explain why the time machine works differently over Airport (and Time Capsule?) as the hardware that Apple uses just isn't up to handling large files. Over Airport it creates a disk image which it writes to, somehow, rather than directly writing a large amount of files to the drive. Seems like a work engineering work around to me, otherwise why change the method?
Cheers. -
HEAT ! When is it too much?
Hello Folks,
Last evening I was digitizing video footage to a external firewire drive, utilizing Apple's Final Cut Pro application, The clips I digitized were 45 minutes each (3), all clips went in fine, no problem.
My question is: above the keyboard-speakers on the MBPro the computer heat up to where its hot, not warm, HOT -- particulary above the keyboard area. I know its subjective but; is it normal for this computer to heat to that point? Other computer surface area was warm.
Thanks,
David HealyHi,
What you are experiencing is not a problem. The MacBook Pros heat pipe for all of the internal components, CPU, SouthBridge, and ATI card all are connected to that heat pipe. The pipe runs right along the back of the MacBook Pro along the FN keys. Thats why it is getting so hot there. While it may be annoying, it is not a problem and is part of the design in the MacBook Pro. Truely, the entire case is a heatsink because it is made of aluminum. You may want to go out and get a laptop cooler, which is like a pad with a couple of fans in it. I know Antec makes a nice model. Hope this helps!

Too much output fails xsql response
We have a strange problem
I post a XML message as a request to query some data . The server reponses well if the amount of data to respond is not too much. If amount the data exceeds a certain limit we get an error.
Flow we use:
for development we use an html form,
request goes to the apache webserver,
calls an xsql page,
page does an insert into a table with a clob column
trigger on this table calls a procedure to process
the request -> output is prepared in a new table in xml-format
page does a query on the output table to prepare the answer

Tnx,
JeroenAbout a week ago I wrote about problems we encountered during development when
an xsql page does an insert, insert fires a trigger, trigger calls procedure to process
data, xsql page does a select from output table to return
We had 2 problems:
1) ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxsqLoadNS], [], [], [], [], [], [], [] Current SQL statement for this session:
2) Output came not beyond a certain limit
Problem 1 is recognized as bug by Oracle Support in 9.2.0.4, 9.2.05 and 9.2.0.6 Solved in 10.2 Unknown what is fixed
Bug is described in 3872147 . I'm still trying to convince them to do something about it because in 3 weeks we have go live with this
software and my alert is full with this ora-0600 Bug is definitely caused by the trigger
Problem 2 is solved, this was caused by getting output through a xmltype column which in xsql relates to
a plsql string with size limitation on 64k

When I connect my Nikon coolpix S9200 to the camera adaptor I get a message saying this device uses too much power, how can I overcome this?
You are probably seeing this message because the camera uses the same port to charge it. The iPad can not supply the power to charge devices from it's dock connector. Also if you use the SD card adapter you are not using up the camera's battery for transferring the photos.

List view item display time is taking too much
Hi,
I am working in a sharepoint2013 project. In our project , list view item display time is taking too much in IE8 sp2013 64 bit environment. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks,
NabhenduHi Nabhendu,
We had something similar with our SP2013 and IE8 32-bit. It seems that IE8 was in Compatible mode which make it IE7, which is unsupported by SP2013 due to HTML5.
Issue : List view especially datasheet view which has been moved from ActiveX to HTML5 had very slow response on SP2013 and IE8 32-bit.
Resolution : Try Chrome and see if its CSS/Masterpage or SP2013 issues performance issue.
We deployed masterpage and css which was used in our SP2007 site with minor changes, but later we figured out that we need to make major changes in order to work with IE8 and SP2013.
Try Indexing Columns.
check how many look up columns are used.
Hopefully that may help you..
Thanks,
Parth

I am having a problem when I plug my iPod into my macbook. When I plug the cable into my mac I get the following message - "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, your USB device has been disabled." CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!
The rest of the message in the pop up window says "To prevent damaging your computer, the USB device drawing too much power has been disabled. Other devices may have also been disabled. When you disconnect the device drawing too much power, your other USB devices will be enabled again."
-
Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled. - This is what shows up sometimes even when no USB is connected. What could be the reason?
Try a different USB cord, seen this many many times, its highly likely a damaged USB cord.
Restart the computer to redefine Port definition. If still a problem

I tried to export photos from iMac to iPad using a USB flash drive. The photos are on the drive but when I plug it into the iPad, the iPad says the device requires too much power. Any ideas of what type of USB flash drive I should use?
You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work. -
When I connect my Ipad mini to my camera via lightning to usb camera adapter all i get is a message "The attached accessory uses too much power."Any solutions
It depends on the camera, but some have a special mode for offloading photos but not trying to charge the camera through the USB port. For others, you may have to pull out the SD card (if that's what it uses) and use the Lightning to SD card reader instead.
Maybe if you told us what camera you are connecting, somebody here with the same model can give you more specific information. -
My iphone 4s crashes too much when i download and app from store and open it its freeze or crash and restart the phone i think i am having big problem with this device i restored it to factory settings and no waay!
