Dock not accepting folders
Hi,
After installation, I took out the two folder stacks that existed (didn't want downloads or documents to be in there). No problem at that point.
NOW, however, I would like to place some stacks of my own in the dock and it is not accepting any folders. Applications drag and drop without a problem, but documents and folders do not (the icons do not slide out of the way). Any advice?
Folders have to go on the right side of the dashed line in the dock. Probably next to the trash if I understand how you're currently set up.

Can't mount external HDD? "usb 1-1: Device not accepting address"
I just bought a Medion HDDRIVE2GO (Full Speed) from Aldi, and at first when I plugged it in, everything went fine (well, I thought so). Appearently it had some errors with HAL not being able to read the HDD (error name="(unset)").
I gave it a reboot, and now it does not work at all! In dmesg, I have this output (the bottom is the most important I guess)

"rmmod ehci_hcd" made it work for some of these guys Which one of them explains It's a data speed issue. Cables.., 2.0 1.0, that sort of things. Read it, I bet you'll get more out of it, It's old though.
Try removing the module, plugging the drive, check dmesg, and mount manually.

Help with new Mac Mini dock not responding!
Good day to you all. I took delivery of a shiny new Mac Mini on Friday and not having too many problems.....ish
The main problem is the dock not magnifying, it is set too, and having to click icons in the dock twice. All was working fine when I switched it off last night.
Any assistance gratefully accepted thanks
JIMOK. I have installed flip for mac, firefox for mac, msn for mac, snapNdrag and real Player for mac. The keyboard and mouse are a non apple wireless usb kind, recognised straight away and working fine(I think)

I prefer to arrange my photos by title but when I shut down Iphoto, my photos rearrange by date. This is not acceptable for my growing library of snanned black and white ancestral photos. How do I get photos in events to stay in place ?
I actually am illiterate on the use of the finder to to view photos in folders. I guess I will go to a class at the local Apple store for a lesson on the uses of finder .
My method of viewing my photos are through events in I photo.
1. Download from camera or scan in from old photos.
2 I organize photos into events by occasion, or happenings in a certain year, or a group of photos with memorabilia of a certain person from childhood and on. etc.
3. Because Iphoto does not allow rearranging as I was able to do in my old PC with Corell, I drag all of the photos to an " album" on the left side of sceen.
4. I arrange photos in "order" after which I number each photo in sequence. I do this for a few of reasons.
- if a photo is accidentally deleted I know it. I can usually remedy this by checking my trash or
rescanning.
- I can sort by title without complications and this holds in "album"
5. The pictures will re arrange automatially to match the album in I photo.
6. This worked great in I-photo 09 but now in mountain lion the pictures in events go back to "
sort by date" and will not hold "sort to Title"each time I photo is closed down. What a nuicance it is to have to go to view and click "title" again and again every time Iphoto is opened.
7. Can I go back to Photo 09? . -
Oracle SQL Developer - File, Open , File Name Not Accept UNC Path Form
In Oracle SQL Developer, at least the File, Open (Dialog's), the File Name (if not all File / Directory Name) Text Box(es) is (are) not accepting, at least for me, the UNC Path Form of Folders on Network Servers. The same UNC Path (or UNC Paths in general) works in the File / Directory Name Text Box of every other Windows App I've tried (from Windows 95 to Windows 7). Is there a way to do this? If not, was it intentional and where can I suggest this as a fix / enhancement?
I'm using Windows XP w/ SP3.DUH! I figured out what happened. In my first search, I searched (using "Actions", "Filter", "Column" option) for "Title Contains 'UNC'" which didn't find anything because the single-quotes were considered literals (which isn't consistent with the "Row" option or with the technical SQL syntax one would expect given technical operators like "!=", pffft, "!="??? Really???). Then, all subsequent searches returned nothing, because all previous searches are combined with implied "And" Operators until you select "Actions", "Reset" (which isn't consistent with any Web / Desktop App search feature I've ever seen). Don't get me wrong. The latter is a great feature. It just needs to be documented better.
It probably wouldn't hurt to: a) include easily visible tips on whether single / double quotes are needed and b) show an "And" Operator in front of each previous search listed so people won't mistake it for simply a Search Criteria History vs. Current Search Criteria, oh and add a heading that labels it as, oh, IDK, "Current Search Criteria", maybe? IDK, call me crazy (or just another stupid user posing as a developer with 16 years experience ;). -
Bluetooth not accepting incoming files
recently my bluetooth will not accept incoming files from my lg viewty and says connection is not possible but it will work with my friends macbook, it allows files to be sent from my macbook to my viewty though.
any ideas whats wrong?I'm having the same problem. Bluetooth says that everything is fine when I look at the advanced settings except that my phone is not connected. I am able to send files to my phone, but not vice versa. I can browse the folders on my phone, but they are all empty. I have tried shutting both off and restarting and resetting the device connection. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I also think I should mention the fact that the phone did in fact used to work with my macbook before the Leopard update, so I'm almost positive it isn't the phone.

Adobe PSE 11 will not accept video files (in slide show)
Although my video files are in a format supposedly accepted by PSE 11, each time I attempt to insert a video file, I'm informed that the file was skipped because it is not one of the acceptable Windows video formats (which is incorrect as the files are in the organizer and listed as acceptable).
How can this be corrected?
Thank youDale Mullen
Video files are not supported by the Photoshop Elements 11 Editor or any other version of Photoshop Elements (photo editor), but are accepted for placement in the Elements Organizer. The Slideshow Editor is a feature of the Elements Organizer (Windows), and it does not accept video inclusion unless "Windows video formats".
As an example, one of my cameras offers H.264.mov. But can be placed in the Elements Organizer, but are not accepted in the Elements Organizer/Create/Slideshow/Slideshow Editor. This is not something new to Photoshop Elements 11 or Elements Organizer 11.
What is the destination for your Elements Organizer 11 Slideshow...Premiere Elements 11? If so, place these video files in the slideshow once it gets to Premiere Elements after you used the Slideshow Editor command Edit with Premiere Elements Editor. Once the slideshow is in Premiere Elements using that command, you can right click the slideshow on the Timeline, select Break Apart Elements Organizer Slideshow, and do more editing, including video import with Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets to the Timeline.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions or ask for clarification, but what I just described is "it is what it is".
Thanks.

Time Machine Backups Up "Do Not Backup" Folders
For my first Time Machine backup, I started with a new 1TB drive properly formated. I selected 2 folders I did NOT want backup up. Once TM finished I entered the backup & there are the Do Not Backup folders with all their contents. Should I trash the Plist? which one?
ThanksJames,
I'm betting your messed with the backupd.plists which are different than the TimeMachine.plist.
*Backups Have Ceased With No Error Messages*
I think something is wrong with the backupd.plists. If something is wrong with these .plists you can select your backup disk in Time Machine Preferencess. But you CANNOT initiate a backup, even when selecting "Back Up Now" from the TM menu. And no error message will appear when it fails. You should still be able to launch Time Machine’s “time travel” interface though.
In a Finder window navigate to the LaunchDaemons folder. The file path is /System/Library/LaunchDaemons.
Click on the NAME column to arrange everything alphabetically.
Scroll down to the 4 backupd.plist files. They are:
com.apple.backupd-attach.plist
com.apple.backupd-auto.plist
com.apple.backupd-wake.plist
com.apple.backupd.plist
Now launch Time Machine from the Dock.
From the time scale on the right choose a date before backups began to fail.
When the windows stop moving, Hold the Shift key down and click on each of the 4 files to select them.
They should all be highlighted now. Click "Restore" in the lower right-hand corner.
You will be asked to enter your Admin Password.
When asked 'Do you want to Replace the existing files' say yes to each one.
Now Highlight one of the restored files and Get Info. Sharing & Permissions should be:
system - Read & Write
wheel - Read only
everyone - Read only
Reboot your Mac. Once back at the desktop try initiating a backup.
If this does not work you may have to do an Archive and Install to restore Time Machine functionality.
Let us know if this resolved the issue
Cheers! -
iPhoto 11, vers. 9.2.3 - Photos downloaded from my camera have a set of numbers which are repeated with each download posing a problem when trying to place them on a CD or thumb drive as the duplicate numbers are not accepted. I have well 2500 photos and possibly dozens of duplicate numbers. I thought I could simply modify the name of each photo but that does not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.
Two simple solutions
1 - export to different desktop folders on the desktop and then drag those folders to the thumb drive - duplicate file names in different folders are fine (you can not have duplicates in the same folder)
2 - export to a desktop folder using the sequential file name option - Exporting From iPhoto - and drag that folder to the Thumb drive

Yosemite Mail do not accept my iCloud password
Yosemite Mail do not accept my iCloud password. Why it does not work?
Web version is working fine.Hi there.
Since my situation is very similar, rather than start a new thread, I wonder if I could jump on this one for some clarification & to see if I'm okay to proceed with the Tiger instructions you posted.
I'm running 10.4.11 on a 17" Titanium PowerBook G4. I have a .mac e-mail address & I'm using Apple Mail.
I migrated to iCloud several weeks ago & everything's been fine but I haven't been able to get any e-mail through all weekend.
I logged in to iCloud a short while ago & everything seems fine.
So could I ask whether the procedure you linked to works for .mac addresses as well as .me addresses?
Also, can I assume that the messages that are still sitting in my inbox will still be there after I remove the existing account & create the new one, (seeing as they're synchronised with the inbox online), whilst the complex hierarchy of folders I've created locally in the mail client will remain untouched?
Thanks! -
HT1212 my ipad is disabled and will not accept my passcode

2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -

Charging is not accepted with this accessory
So I have a Dynex iPod charger. I'm not sure if that's apple… I'm guessing it's not.
Anyway, I've used it on my iPod nano third generation for a while, and it worked fine. Then I got an iPod touch 4g. The charger still worked. Then 9onths later (now), I start getting a pop-up saying "Charging is not accepted with this accessory". And sometimes it stops charging. Sometimes I can unplug it, then plug it in, and it charges fine.
Can anyone explain how to fix this?Sometimes this is a sign of a dirty dock connector port on your iPod or the possiblity of dented/damaged pins on either the dock connector for the cable or on the iPod. So double check to make sure the dock connector port is clean and clear of debris as well as free of any damage.
If nothing else, try using an Apple branded USB cable.
