Dock not letting me add any folders? Only files..

I'm on 10.4.11, I've been wondering how am I meant to add my Applications folder (for quick access like the Stacks dock app on Leopard)
I go to drag an Alias of Applications folder or the actual Applications folder itself to the Dock but it doesn't move apart and make any room for it - thus not allowing it into the Dock.
Odd thing is that it does allow any actual File to be dragged in, and creates space for it, but no where on any section of the dock it lets me put in the folder.
Anyone got any suggestions? I am running ClearDock to hide the semi-opaque background on the dock but that doesn't have any properties to alter the Dock's content.

iMovie '08 will only allow you to to import files containing compression formats that can be edited. If you AVI file won't import, it likely means that the audio and/or video data is not editable. To import it, you will have to first convert it to any of the acceptable compression formats. For video this means DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264. For audio this may include DV, AIFF, AAC, Unsigned Integer, Uncompressed, etc. This means that files with adaptive PCM (ADPCM) -- a very common AVI audio compression format for digital cameras -- will not import.

Files imported directly from a video camcorder is automatically converted to "edit" compatible compression formats using non-QT routines built into the iMovie '08 application. Files already on your hard drive are brought in (imported) via the Finder and as such, bypass the special camcorder routines since the application assumes you will only import files that are edit compatible "natively" -- i.e., are in the compression format in which you actually want to do your editing. (For example, a person who wants to edit in DV would likely be upset if the application switched to M-JPEG or MPEG-4 editing behind the user's back for some reason.)

I have 177200 bookmarks. Yes...177k is correct. Firefox will not let my delete any folders for bookmarks. Reset will not work either?

Firefox is deathly slow and locks up when I use tab for bookmarks. Like I said..reset on help tab doesn't work
I have many multiple copies of bookmarks from ie also. I tired to delete Firefox and install a fresh one but IE would allow me to go to mozilla. I know somehow the tons of bookmarks is causing issues for both Firefox and IE. I like to use both of them.

Lets try and make some practical suggestions.
I also suggest for now at least you do not try the Reset option.<br />Also note repeated attempts to recreate the places.sqlite could destroy your bookmark records all 177k of them, so please make sure they are properly backed up first.

# As a test create a new Firefox profile and use that. It will not have any bookmarks but we can sort that out later. Please use the suggested location, and do NOT delete any profiles you create. It is all too easy to make mistakes.

I created a new i tunes account and I am trying to add music to my I pod touch but since I had an old account it will not let me add any new songs or let me transfer my existing songs to the new account. I also purchased one song and it did not download

I just opened a new I tunes account. The music that I purchased from an old account will not transfer to my new account & the old account email no longer exists it is (djbdeercreek613@com***t.net) and the password would not be accepted when we entered it. I also purchased one song "Country Must Be Country Wide" By Brentley Gilbert and it did not download to my i-pod. please let me know how I can get this problem taken care of.

Apple IDs do not go out of existence. All purchases are PERMANENTLY associated with whatever ID was used for the purchase. Go here to investigate.

Firefox 3.6.9. will not let me add any new bookmarks, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I would like to be able to bookmark new pages, please help.

Regardless of whether I try bookmarking using ⌘D or the star on the right of the address bar or using the drop down Bookmarks tab, Firefox will not bookmark the page. It doesn't matter what page I am trying to bookmark, I can't bookmark any of them. And when I tried importing my bookmarks from Google Chrome, it imported the folder names but not the contents.

Firefox 3.6.13 will not let me add any extentions. Can you help me fix it?

I installed Firefox 4 beta and alot of my add ons were not compatible so I went back to Firefox 3.6.13. But my add ons were not there either. I went to the add on extensions in the tools menu and tried to uninstall the extensions that I wanted to put back on my firefox then I tried to reinstall them and got the message Firefox could not install the file at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/3456/addon-3456-latest.xpi?src=addondetail because: Unexpected installation error Review the Error Console log for more details. -203. Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

CS6 is not letting me open any of my files! Please Help!!

So you saved them directly to the external drive?
Illustrator does not particularly like that.
You could try and first copy the files to your harddrive and then open them.
But you could also search this forum for Jacobs list on recovering corrupt files. Your issues don't sound too good.

Itunes won't let me add any more videos for my ipod classic

I got a ipod classic (80gb) for christmas and I have now added 3.2 hours of video onto itunes which has been synced to my Ipod however itunes will now not let me add any more videos -even though I have added no music files on it as yet , could it be because all the videos I have downloaded myself and converted to mp4 via a internet program? could anybody help as my ipod is supose to play up to 100 hours of video files.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

ITunes 7.1 will not let me play any tracks...

iTunes 7.1 will not let me play any tracks, it opens up fine and I can do pretty much anything else with it but when I double click or press play on a track an error message comes up and iTunes has to close. This has only been happening since I uploaded the new 7.1 version of iTunes, can anyone help me with this problem please?
I have sent an error report to microsoft but that doesn't seem to help me.

Can you play your tracks with Quicktime?
If not, you might try uninstalling quicktime and installing the stand alone version, which is option2 here:

When I connect my iPhone or iPad I can see every items on them but not on the iTunes Library.
They sync fine with iTunes.
I browse all the menus in iTunes but cannot find any clues to what I have done for it to happen. It worked fine previously.

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

Do you only have the current backup showing in the TM display?? Won't it fill in the rest?

Previous backup may not show for a couple of hours.
Long short of it.. Mavericks version of TM is a pain.
Sometimes it is easier to completely ignore the TM backup and do the restore manually.

I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.
