Dock put on display that is not connected
Since I've upgraded to Mountain Lion I have a problem when disconnecting my external display.
I use an external Acer monitor with my MBP in a dual-display setup (dock & menu bar on the Acer) when in my office. When I leave the office though, (close the lid and disconnect all the cables) the dock doesn't return the the MBP like it did in Lion. When I open the Display Settings window it shows the external display as disocnnected, but still won't return the Dock & menu bar to the MBP. The only way to make the system usable again is to reboot it.
How do I get the Dock & Menu bar to move off a disconnected display?
Pse 12 should work fine on windows xp, except you won't be able to update past the camera raw version 8.0 that ships with it, unless you do it manually
and unless you can at least hook up to the internet once, i don't know if you can activate photoshop elements 12 or get the photoshop elements 12.1 update.
It's possible you could activate pse 12 using the steps below, but i've never tried, so i don't know if it will work.

I have a Macbook and an external display that will not connect.
I bought a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adaptor from Apple but the Detect Displays under system set up does not recognize my external display. The Mini Display port doesn't fit into the port on my Macbook with the Display printed above it but into "Y" port. The picture on the package for the adaptor matches the ends of the adaptor, but they don't seem to fit where they should.
Is that the issue or is there something else?Hardware Overview:

Putting Reader on WIN ME that is not connected to internet?
I need to install Reader on a computer running WIN ME that is not connected to internet. Need a version of Reader that is compatible with ME, but that will also open pdfs created in a more recent version of Acrobat. How would I do this?
You can download offline installers for most Reader versions from the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/
My guess is that Reader 6.x or 7.x may support Win ME. These Reader versions support PDF 1.5 / 1.6 respectively; you will most likely not be able to open PDF 1.7 documents. -
Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet upon reopening unless I perform diagnostic assistant.
Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked

2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
3. Reset the PRAM.
4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
9. Reset the System Management Controller.
10. Reinstall OS X. -
My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Using two external displays that are NOT mirrored
i have a MBP early 2008, meaning the external display port is a dual DVI-I port. I have have two external displays, both samsung syncmaster xl2370 with native resolution 1920x1080. i have a dual dvi-i to vga splitter. when i connect both displays, they mirror one another, which is not what i want. rather, i want to have my MBP display, and two external displays that are not mirror images of one another. according to apple, if i buy a dual dvi-i to dvi splitter, i get the same effect. i've read on various forums about hardware alternatives, like buying a usb to dvi or usb to vga adapter, with some reasonable results (except a bit of sluggishness). the best one seems to be the diamond: http://www.diamondmm.com/BVU195.php

I disagree with the author on the mac selecting the right movie for your environment. My itunes downloaded both versions of this movies but I see only one in itunes and don't know how to select the old format and the hd format is complaining about one 30 inch mac monitor connected to a macpro. I will keep poking at this and see if I can get it to behave. itunes is also not downloading either the hd or the sd to my ipod touch, but I find movie downloads to the ipod fussy. -

I have a 3rd Generation iPod that will NOT connect to our internet connection at home. Message on screen keeps saying it is 'unable' to connect. Yes I have already reset to default factory settings, No we do not have our service encrypted or password protected, anyone else have any other viable suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:

- Restore from backup. See:

If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If I am connected to Wifi and send an iMessage to a party that is not connected to the Internet then he doesn't receive the message. How do I force my iPhone to send an SMS instead?
It is an interesting option but I am not sure how it works. I disconnected the other party Wifi and 3G on the iPhone, iPad and computer. I sent the iMessage 15 minutes ago and it doesn't give the small foot print "delivered" but equally said I didn't get the RED exclamation mark on the right hand side of the message in BLUE. So we know that the message was sent but not delivered. I don't seem to have the option of sending by SMS when I tap on the BLUE message and hold.
