Dock stops magnifying and highlighting, it's same wth other links and icons
I have noticed a couple of times that my dock starts acting weird. It stops magnifying and highlighting icons. When I click the desired icon, it magnifies it. It stays magnified when I move mouse away and until I click something else. Its darn annoying. Kill Dock in terminal doesn't solve the issue, only rebooting does and I don't want to do that every time. I occurs on random, don't see a pattern in it.
Also, highlighting or "on roll over" functions are not working for other types of links and buttons including websites. Cursor doesn't change in to the finger etc.
What to do, what to do (beside rebooting every time).
I had a similar problem. I lost dock magnification and and mouse rollover effects. It turns out when I unplugged my external mouse, everything returned to normal.

I was trying to create a playlist to add to a second ipod I have and save my library of my other ipod and hopefully transfer between the two or organize additional playlist between the two. An iTunes playlist can only contain songs that are in the same iTunes library as the playlist. There is neither a manual nor a scripted way to create an iTunes playlist that contains songs that are not in the library.
So, to do what you want, you would need to create a single consolidated library with all the music, and then create playlists off of that. Since your current drive is "chock a block full," the best way to do this will be to spend $50-$100 and get an external hard drive for iTunes. -

My husband and I share a computer, have the same e-mail address, and have one iTunes account. Can we have different Apple ids on our individual iPhones or do we have to use the same one?
For purchasing from the iTunes and App stores, you will probably want to share the same Apple ID. But for other services such as iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud, you should use separate IDs. For example, if you use the same ID for iMessage you'll start getting each other's text messages. If you use the same ID for FaceTime you may get each other's FaceTime calls. If you set up the same iCloud account with the same ID, and data you sync with the account will be merged and the merged data will appear on all devices (i.e., you'll end up with each other's contacts and calendar events). You would also be sharing the same 5GB of free iCloud storage rather than each having your own 5GB of space.

I purchased a new computer. I would like to import all of my music from my other computers and external hard drives. I want to only import the physical songs not "Links". Also not duplicates. How do I do this?
Under Edit > Preferences > Advanced make sure the Copy... option is ticked. This will ensure any files you drag to the library get copied into your library's media folder.
If the same content appears at more than one location, or you add it more than once, then iTunes will create dupes. There isn't really any way to avoid that, but I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove them. See this thread for background.

I just updated to OS5 and all of my video and music files are gone and now I have an inaccessible "other" file about the size of the of the old music and video files. When I go to sync music files in itunes they never show up on the phone. Help!
Never mind. Just read some similar questions and tried restoring it to backed up version and now everything seems to be working. What a relief!

It bounces in Dock and stops, it never opens. Opening from .app opens in Dock and immediately disappears.
I downgraded to 3.6.10 and had the same problem. Downgrading to 3.6.9 resolved problem. Will retry upgrading later.
Maybe unrelated but 3.6.9 recommended I upgraded Adobe Flash Player from 10.1 r53 to 10.1 r85, which I did -
My wife and I both have an Iphone 5 and hotmail accounts.
We are on the same wifi and I have restored and reset her phone several times, but whenever I add her hotmail account to her phone, the phone is always in use according to the usage. also the phone becomes warm as if it was in use for several hours. The standby time is only about 2-3 hours before dying. However, removing her hotmail account, stops this. What about the hotmail account is causing this?What you're describing is the expected behaviour. I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times. If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—. Your wife does have access to it.
In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above). Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual. You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes. She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself. One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac. If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.

I have tried words I usually use for passwords and they don't work. If I knew the acceptable format for the sync key, I could try others. But maybe the sync key is the same long number they originally sent me. I am in Chile and my laptop hard drive crashed and I needed to replace it. I can't access my sync key on my desktop in the United states but I want to download my syndc data to my laptop with the new hard drive but I dont have the sync key and I dont want to erase the sync data on the server by resetting the sync key.
I'm sorry but "you should have written it down" simply isn't a good solution. Having the keys at all is a bad idea in my opinion. The keys should be stored in your account and if you authenticate with a password, it should use that key. If you can't keep your password private or secure, that's your problem. The problem with the keys is, you can't delete your account and "start over" if you so wish. What happens if your machine locks up after you sign up and you have no time to write down your key?
You can request a new password, but can't be reminded of your key? This is nonsense. I have had no such headaches with XMarks and I'm trying to find a reason to keep using firefox sync with such an obviously user-unfriendly approach. We're humans, not machines. -
after downloading latest version of LION I have had trouble with my email boxes on my mac.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images. -
when I try to register the ipod touch with apple.com to get support it keeps telling me the SN is invalid..I tried turning it on and connecting to Wi-Fi but it tells me unable to connect please try again later...on the top of the ipod touch where the wi-fi signal and the battery signal is right in the middle of those too there is the lock sign... what does this mean and why cant i connect to any thing or even get it to work????????? OR DID I JUST GET RIPPED OFF WHEN I BOUGHT IT?????????????????

I have a new MacBook Air. I set my password the other night when I was half asleep and can't remember it. Im still working on my old MacBook Air and can't get through the password gate on my new one. How can I reset it on that computer? I can't even get to the internet.

Email notifications in HUB stop happening.. and highlighting of new emails also stopped
All of a sudden I am no loner getting notification when new email comes ... either in the HUB view or in my inbox. Also the new emails used to be highlighted in there and that seems to have stopped also.
I did not change any settings.

My daughter and i share the same Apple ID account and I cloud account but I just unwittingly merged them on my Iphone 5s. Now i have all her contacts and my own. I got my phone a couple of years ago and when it came in the mail, I wasn't home so my brother decided to set up my iPhone for me because he was so desperate to check the phone out. My iCloud account has been his account and it's been set up under his e-mail since the day I got my phone. Once he bought an iPhone, he set it up under the same e-mail account and now we share it. It's so annoying because all of my pictures and stuff are stored in my iCloud, but that's under his e-mail and I really want a new iCloud account but I want to transfer all of my iCloud information and pictures to my e-mail without losing them. Randomly, my brother has been receiving some of my facetime calls and I even turned it off so that it is only set on my device. I didn't even know he received any of my facetime calls until the other day when my friend told me. Now, our contacts are shared and I don't want that either. At one point during the summer, he was receiving my text messages as well. I turned all of those off under settings so they wouldn't be shared on his device, but I need to find a way to carry my iCloud stuff and set it up in a my own completely separate account. Please, please help me. I really am getting so frustrated with it and neither of us want to delete our accounts because we don't want to lose our iCloud stuff.
