Docked T500 won't wake up

When I leave my new T500 docked and it goes into Standby, it won't wake up from the docking station.  I can wake it by opening the laptop, but it no longer recognize the docking station monitors, kb, or mouse.  I have to restart the computer to be able to use it on the docking station again.
Once it is open from the laptop, items that were on the second monitor that is no longer connected are not visible.  Some new programs open up to that monitor and can't be accessed.
The monitor problem seems to be a different problem since some programs will still open on the unconncted monitor after restarting even though the monitor is grayed out of the Display Properties.  I never had the problem of programs opening on an unconnected monitor on my old laptops that had a docking station.
How do I make the T500 not forget about the docking station?

Did you find a solution to this. I have been experiencing the same problem with a T500 and it is getting to be quite annoying. Any help would be great.

  • Verizon iPad 2 won't "wake up" without hard reset!

I am having a problem where my Verizon iPad 2 will go into a state where it won't "wake up" unless you do a hard reset. It won't respond to the power or home button. I notice that this happens after the iPad 2 has been unused for a few hours. The 4.3.2 update did not resolve this problem.
If you do a hard reset (hold home and power for several seconds), it will start back up again, but it will say that a "restore is needed" and asks to connect to iTunes. If you ignore this and turn the device off and on again, the device will finally start as normal.
I have recreated this numerous times. Once again, the 4.3.2 update did not resolve this.
Anyone else experience this and ideas on how to fix it? I can't say for certain when this started happening, but I don't think it started until 4.2.1. I don't know if that caused it though.

My wifi iPad 2 is behaving similarly, and the same general problem is reported at:
        http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-help/13892-ipad-does-not-wake-sleep-mode.html
The conclusion on that forum was to contact Apple / the store of purchase etc. The outcome reported was the replacement of the device.
I have tried: multiple resets, powering off and on, removing all but the original apps, and "Reset all settings", but I still can't wake it from sleep without resetting it.  The behaviour is the same whether in the field or powered in the dock.  My next step was to "Erase all content and settings" - however I'm glad I checked some forums first, I'll call Apple on Monday.

  • IPod won't wake up from sleep if not on charge

    Hi,
OK, concerning my problem with my iPOd, all the test I made were givng me the same result.
If the iPod goes to sleep (or I force it by pressing the play/pause for a few seconds) it won't wake up unless it is on charge. If not on charge it will just stay shut (screen completly black, and I will have to reset it (hold/select/menu) to make it work again.
In happen for the first time when docked to the IM3 speakers I just received a few weeks ago. May that behavior have been created by the IM3?
Someone as also suggested it may be the battery that is going bad. But this will happen even if the battery is full. Could this be the problem here?
My iPOd is still under warranty, should I return it to Apple? I never returned anything to Apple, so I'm not even sure what to do anyway! I do not have the Applecare for iPod (but maybe I should), so...
Any help or comment would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Have you tried restoring?
    Restoring the iPod
If you think it might be a battery issue, have you seen this?
Dan H's Battery Info and Troubleshooting Page
BTW, your iPod automatically comes with a 1 year standard warranty. AppleCare extends that and adds the phone service. If this issue requires service and your iPod is less than one year old, you won't need to buy AppleCare unless you'd like an additional year of protection.

  • X301 in Coma, Won't Wake Up from Natural Sleep or FnF4

X 301 SSD 64g won't wake up after naturally goes to sleep, or when put into sleep FnF4.  Must remove power cable and battery to break power and restart.  When in coma, extremely brief flashing of hard drive access, also Power white center light lit, Think Vantage blue bar lit, and speaker off light can be lit when toggled.
All ideas, similar reports appreciated.  tnx.

I have this issue on a number of different Lenovo models (T500 and X200 seem the most common).  In analyzing the issue we have not found a smoking gun to this issue either and done an extensive amount of troubleshooting (BIOS, Drivers, power management config etc).
That said, have had some success at removing TVSU from the machines, we began seeing this issue once TVSU was deployed to the environment.  We do run a 3rd party power management interface but that doesn't appear to be at issue; even when it is removed entirely the issue persists.
This issue is really difficult to troubleshoot  as it's very vague and inconsistent so replication of it has proven nearly impossible.  Just thought I would add my 2 cents guys, cheers.

    I'm using a late 2006 2.33GHz imac.
I clean installed 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.7 from download.
Now every time my computer goes into sleep it won't wake up.
The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling.  Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?
    Thanks

This isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.

  • I can't seem to get mountain lion to download.  It just sits in my dock and won't load.  Tried starting in safe mode an reloading - still won't work.

Very frustrated.  I can't sync my music with my phone because apparently there is a bug in the version of iPhoto I have.  So I tried to update to the latest and was told it's incompatible with my OS.  So I decided to shell out the $20 for Mountain Lion (even though I feel I shouldn't have to since the software I'm using isn't working).  Now the download of Moutain Lion just sits in the dock and won't download.  I tried restarting the computer in safe mode and redownloading, still no luck.

Edit --> Preferences --> Media and Disk Cache --> Purge. And you might wanan consider substituting any compressed audio sources with WAVs, too, to avoid such corruptions. Similarly, check your audio in a proper audio editing app. Odd sample rates, weird channle mapping and so on can have all sorts of ill effects.

  • Mac Mini/Mountain Lion sleeps but won't wake up (or crashes) every night.

    Hi everybody,
I have a mid-2010 mac mini server on which I recently installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (without server stuff).
Every night, it stops responding. The led is on but the display is off and it does not respond to mouse/keyboard. I even tried remote desktop.
The only solution is the power button...
    What I already did :
    - Reset Pram/Nvram
    - Reset SMC
I also took a look at the console and I found a message that is fired just before the machine stops responding.

    Any clue ?

Hi, I'm quite interested by your issue, because i get the exact same one.
On my mini (late 2012), system doesn t wake up from sleep if it has slept for more than 1 hour.
In fact I get the exact same message as you get in your console.
When I try and wake up system before the programmed maintenance wakeup, it wakes up fine.
But as soon as this programmed time has passed, it just won t wake up, I have to force switch it off via the power button and restart it.
I have nothing plugged on my mini except : AC - Thunderbolt display, and LAN connected to my freebox.
Do you still have the issue or is it ok now for you ?
I'll try in the upcoming days to plug the freebox in the thunderbolt display's adapter instead of the macmini's rj45.

  • Won't Wake From Sleep

I held off from posting this until I'd scoured the boards looking for ideas, but I'm totally out.
Every since I updated to 10.4.8, my MacBook Pro won't wake from sleep. I've tried resetting the SMU and PRAM, enabled and disabled bluetooth device wake from sleep, and installed the latest EFI Firmware update that was just released. I've now narrowed it down to the 10.4.8 and a change in how it handles Expresscards. If I have my NitroAV FW 800 card plugged in during a session, it seems to prevent the MacBook from going to sleep properly. According to various Console messages, the PCI device prevents the computer from going to sleep, and /or places the computer into System Doze instead, from which it won't wake. The sleep light stays fixed and steady, only disappearing if I press the power button (it only reacts to the power button). From there the screen remains dark and all plugged in device fail to respond. I can hear the drive spin back up.
It reacts the same whether or not I eject the card before putting the computer to sleep. This behavior was not present before installing 10.4.8 and having fallen back on a back up of my 10.4.7 install, can say it's not present in the older OS version. I was hoping last night's EFI firmware update would deal with this, but after having installed it and 10.4.8 anew, I'm having the same old results.
If anyone has any new ideas or can direct me toward how I can make sure the folks at Apple see this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2 GB Ram, 7200 rpm HD, NitroAV ExpressCard FW 800

  • Macbook pro retina display won't wake on windows 8.1

    Hi,
I have installed windows 8.1 on my new Macbook Pro with retina with using bootcamp no problem there only issue is after my laptop goes to sleep it won’t wake up. It seems that the issue is with the display driver or something related to it because even when only display is off I have the same problem.

I am aware there are symbols. My technical issue is the MagSafe2 adapter. What people typically do is connect their laptops to the wall when they're battery dies off. No biggie. I can attach it to the outlet. Well, when I connect the adapter to the outlet, nothing happens. Nothing happens at home, at Starbucks, at McDonalds, at other people's home.
When I brought this up with technical support in August when I bought it, technical support person said I might have issues with my electrical wiring at home. I've never had issues with electrical wiring at home because my other Apple products work fine when connected to the outlet. My July 2011 MacBook Pro charged without a hitch.
And I was able to charge my Retina MBP only at night or very early in the morning.
But this weekend, I couldn't charge it at all. I'm starting to think it might be the MagSafe2 adapter problem.
I feel rather ridiculous buying the highest-end of the 15 inch Retina MBP. It cost me over $3000. Right now I'm working with my 5 year old Hewlett Packard laptop. At least my HP works, which can't be said about this top-of-the line Apple product.
Probably explains why Apple stocks are falling. At $3000 I shouldn't be having these type of problems.
    Sheeeesh!!!

  • Memory RAM upgrade won't wake up after sleep mode

i just recently purchase a pair  16GB RAM of crucial  CT2K8G3S160BM for newegg.com. Yeesterday i try put this on my macbook i7 intel 2.9 processor that crucial said is compatible. but found out everything was good until i close my mac lid for hibernate. What happen is, it won't wake up no matter what i do until a way of reset SMC. BTW i try stick by stick to plug in together with my original 4gb RAM together found out 1 was ok and other one was not. But somehow why the info of hardware show that memory ram 16GB was installed and was OK. Everything was run smooth even booting. The only problem is won't wake up after sleep mode. I already try reset smc, pram, delete startimage, delete powermanagement.file and also sudo hibernate 0-7. Did anyone had this same issue of me. I'm my curiousity will it be the bad ram or software problem.

i just google around and found this two both crucial ram. Both spec are the same but different model no.
CT102464BF160B 16GB  and mine is CT2K8G3S160BM are this 2 same? but both same spec.

  • Display blank, key board light not working, won't wake up if sleeps.

Hi. I just bought a Toshiba Satellite P850 and after two weeks I had the first big problem.
It starts normally first time but after a shut-down and a few hours later start, the display is blank, any light on.The back light keyboard the same - only the power button and battery/wireless-connection have the light on.
If I shut it down again and then restart (by pressing the power button) nothing happened same screen and no light.
Tried to do this.. remove battery, press pow. button for 30-60 sec, plug charger, and the restart. it works. but after a shut-down and a few hours later restart,I have the same problem. If sleep mode it won't wake up.
Don't know what to do.. it's a brand new Toshiba Satellite. used a few hours a day for two weeks.

It sounds like the computer is going into Sleep mode or Hibernation and not coming out of it. Go to the Control Panel and select Power Options. Whatever your current power setting, select the Advanced settings under it. Check out your Sleep and Hibernation settings. In this case, I would disable them. You might want to enable the Screen Saver and let that kick in if you're away from the computer for any length of time.
In cases of mysterious computer issues, the best policy is to simplify. Reduce the number of attached devices. Keep the number of open applications down to a minimum. See if you can figure which hardware or software is causing this problem. And you should be able to fix it.

  • Display won't wake up

It's a brand new notebook.I've done nothing on it, other than installing Windows updates and creating recovery disks.I set the "Turn off display after" option to 1Minute.IMPORTANT: I set display brightness all the way to zero, the lowest setting possible, using either the keyboard keys, or the brightness option in Windows.Leave the notebook idle for a minute, the display sleeps like it should (the notebook is set to sleep after 30 minutes, it's only the display that sleeps, the notebook is still awake).Move the mouse, press keys on the keyboard, the screen does not come back up. The computer is still up and running-i can toggle keyboard backlight On/Off using the keys, but the display won't wake up.Press the "Brightness +" button on the keyboard, the display wakes up. This is the only way to wake it up. The other option is to press and hold the power button, force a shut down, and start the computer again. This happens ONLY when "brightess" is set to the lowest level. If brightness is set to even one level above the lowest, the issue cannot be reproduced. Moving the mouse or pressing any key on the keyboard will wake the display up in this situation. Both Intel HD graphics 5500 and GTX 850M drivers are up to date.BIOS is up to date as well.Battery/ Plugged in does not make a difference. If the display brightness is set to lowest, the screen will ALWAYS fail to wake up, irrespective of which power source is in use. What do I do? Please don't tell me it's a minor problem and I have to live with it.There are so many minor problems with this notebook, and all these are adding up to make it a total piece of cr.. My almost 5 years old probook with a second generation core i3 CPU and no discrete GPU, is better than this brand new 5th generation core i7+GeForce GTX notebook. I'm beginning to regret this purchase. I should have gotten another probook. Thought the Envy offers a better "bang for the buck", and now i think this was a huge mistake. Anyway, any idea how i can get this fixed? Looks like a driver problem right? Or is this a hardware problem? Can someone with an Envy notebook try this out and tell me if the issue can be reproduced on their rig? It can't be reproduced on my Probook.Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Avenger Well, I called up HP tech support. The lady took remote control of my notebook and tried numerous things in the registry (regedit). But the issue could not be solved. She then arranged for an on-site support engineer to visit my house. The Engineer showed up right on the next day, and tried the following:- Updated ALL drivers, even the ones which were already up to date!Checked with my desktop monitor, the issue cannot be reproduced on the external monitor- the external monitor will wake up on moving the mouse, but the notebook monitor stayed dim (no backlight).Opened the laptop, took out the display cable, cleaned it with some solution he had, put everything back together- issue not resolved, external monitor wakes up but notebook monitor stayes dimmed. This is not the only problem I was having with the notebook, the other problems are:Battery would stop charging when the notebook is switched OFF, and the charger is turned ON and OFF a couple of times. The battery lock doesn't "click" in place, it slides automatically to the "unlock" position, it's loose. There's a dead pixel on the display. He offered me two choices: 1> Replace motherboard (to solve battery not charging issue), replace chassis (to solve the battery lock issue), and replace display panel (to solve the dim display + dead pixel issue). =======OR======= 2> Return the whole notebook back to HP, and get a new notebook (same model) in exchange.  I picked option 2. We shared a cup of coffee, and the tech left (he was very nice and friendly). The next day, I got an email from HP, with a PDF attachment, asking me to take my laptop, along with a hard copy of the email, and payment invoice, to the HP store. HP store took my computer back, but they didn't have a replacement ready, they asked me to come after 7 days to pick up a new notebook (same model). I really loved my Envy. It's a very nice looking laptop. Hope the replacement I get won't have these weird issues. I'll update the thread when I get the replacement. Thanks for your help

My MacMini running ML 10.8.3 will go into sleep after some period of inactivity, and won't wake up (typically happens overnight, but not only). I have to shut down using the power button and turn on again.
I've already reset the PRAM, repaired permissions, ect...

Any ideas? Does anybody have similar problems?
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • A600 Won't Wake Up - Help!?

I have an ideacentre a600 that I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.  Randomly, the computer will just go into sleep/hibernate mode and it won't wake up.  I've tried all the usual methods to wake it up, like moving the mouse or hitting keys on the keyboard and nothing is working.  I even got creative and tried plugging in a wired mouse to see if the USB ports were asleep to no avail.  The only way I can tell the computer is still running is that the touch sensitive controls on the front panel will light up when touched but they don't wake the computer up.  I've adjusted all the settings in the computer including the display and power settings and there is nothing there to indicate it should ever go to sleep.  It probably happens about once out of every 5 times but it is extremely frustrating because the only way to get it working is to do a hard shutdown on the PC by holding the power button down and then booting back up.  Please let me know if anyone else has encountered this or what can be done to fix it.
    Thanks,
    J
