Docking a floating panel

I've looked through the adobe help/web search and I can't for the life of me figure out how to dock a floating panel in premiere pro 6.0.

Hey Joe,
Yes, I actually went through this and kind can't find the answer.  I understand how to do it moving a docked panel where it gives me the drop zones but once it's already a floating panel I can't seem to reactivate drop zones.  When I close the window and reopen it from the "window" tab at the top it becomes floating again.
I read through that article twice.  I'm not seeing it!

    Thanks for the reply. Very glad that the Restore Workspace resolved the issue.
    As for version 13, there have been several removals and some additions to this version.
    DV and HDV Captures are gone, webDVD is gone. The version does not support Windows XP, Windows Vista, or
    Mac OSX 10.7. The Elements Organizer 13 that comes
    with it is new - even has a slideshow for the Mac people as well as the Windows people. This slideshow is different
    than that offered in the past - 720p or 1080p slideshows (AVCHD.mp4) with a choice of 5 different themes.
    If you are thinking about 13, definitely go the free 30 days tryout from Adobe route prior to any purchase
    to assure the compatibility of the program with your computer environment as well as your project goals.
    I have written very detailed blogs on
    Premiere Elements 13 First Look
    ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: Premiere Elements 13 First Look Details
    and
    Premiere Elements 13 Daily Discoveries
    ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: Premiere Elements 13 Daily Discoveries
    and they should give you a good idea of what to expect. The blogs come with no ads, no registration, free - just my place
    to keep my observations on Premiere Elements.
    If you do try version 13, I would leave your version 12 installed but closed. Use one program at a time. And, then decide
    on the program that best serves your video editing needs.

  • Polling for active floating panel in LV7.0

    My application has many windows open simultaneously (flexible, configurable data display, each running in its own thread). In previous versions of labview, I used the fp.frontmost propery to arrange the window stack periodically. This is clumsy, and the new Floating Panel feature significantly cleans up the window management.
    However, I need a way to know which window the user last activated when all open windows are set to 'floating'. I used to poll the fp.frontmost property, but this is no longer an effective way of doing this, since no floating window shows as frontmost. Ideally, a 'front panel activated' event would work, but that doesn't exist. Is there another way?
    Thanks!

    I do not understand why IsFrontmost not doing what you want. I created two VIs that poll the IsFrontMost property and made them floating. Whenever one of them is frontmost, the property is true. I attached the two VIs below to facilitate our discussion.

  • Docking all windows/panels in DWCS3 MAC OS X?

    Howdy,
    I'm sure the answer to this is no, but I just want 100%
    clarification :)
    I have a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 I bought for the Mac OS X,
    but I also have it on Windows (I'm switching from Windows to Mac),
    and I was wondering if there is a way to dock all windows/panels
    together in the OS X version like the Windows version?
    Let me explain for those who haven;t a clue what I am on
    about! In the Windows version (and like all windows apps) DW is
    basically all stored in one window, and all the panels are arranged
    inside this one window how you want! But the outer window is like
    the container, and minimising it, minimises all of the DW panels.
    Now in the MAC OS X version, the toolbars/panels etc are all
    seperate to the main document window. So when I open a plain new
    doc for exmaple, that can be minimised on its own, but all the DW
    toolbars stay on my desktop? Whats the point n that? I can't use
    the damn toolbars on my desktop!
    Can I contain all these windows/panels in one container like
    the windows version? So minimising the doc windows minimises the
    lot? I'm SURE you could do this on DW 8 on OS X... but I could be
    wrong?
    OS X Version doesnt even have the "Coder" and "Designer"
    workspace layouts, I have to maunally arrange it to mimic the coder
    workspace from windows... quite annoying?
    I suppose for a avid MACer this is the way mac works with
    windows, and I am just so use to MS Windows that it will take some
    getting use to, and in a few months I will probably say the Windows
    way is crap, but at the moment I don't and want to know if I can
    change it?
    Anyone have any ideas?
    ta

    I got rid of my last Mac a few years back, but I thought that
    once DW
    lost focus, the panels were not in view. If not, press F4.

    Just wait until you have permission problems. I hope it's
    less of a
    nightmare for you than it was for me. There are some things I
    love
    about Mac, but overall, I'll take something I can fix myself.

  • Why no floating panels?

    Is there a reason Speed Grade doesn't use floating panels like other Adobe products?
    I really like having my tools on one screen and my output monitor on another screen. I find it difficult to be confined to one monitor, I'm constantly zooming in and out while adjusting the look of my footage.

    If you go to Settings > Display you can check the "Enable" box for Dual Display Output. This will put your monitor on your 2nd display
    Just note that there's a bug - if you don't see your monitor on your 2nd display after enabling it in the settings, try adjusting the numbers in the Window Size (same place: Settings > Display) and hit Enter after adjusting a number. This will fix the bug - now you can put the numbers back to the original/correct size and hit Enter

  • Alpha/semi-transparent  floating panel

    Is it possible to have a alpha/semi-transparent floating panel, for example in Unreal 2004 when u access the console a semi-transparent console appears.

    Hello,
    Yes it is possible; try the following code in your container...
         public void doLayout()
              super.doLayout();
              // use some reference to where you want the panel to float
              floatablePanel.setBounds(........);
         } // end doLayout... and the following in your floatablePanel...
         public void paint(Graphics g)
              Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g.create();
              g2.setComposite(AlphaComposite.getInstance(AlphaComposite.SRC_ATOP, 0.2f));
              super.paint(g2);
              g2.dispose();
         } // end paintHope it gives you ideas.

  • Floating/docking mode for panels

    Hey,
    I'd like to create a framework of panels that way, so that I am able to switch to a docking/floating mode and be able to separate or adjoin panels - I am not quite sure how it is called in swing - I already checked out the "Creating a GUI with JFC/Swing" tutorial, but as I said I don't know how that feature is called, so I wasn't able to find it.
    I appreciate any kind of help :)
    thanks

    I completely agree than the toolbars take up too much space.
    So do the
    panels. I once took screenshots comparing panel sizes in FH
    5.5 and FHMX.
    http://www.judyarndt.ca/fhmx/panel_width.gif
    It bugs me that I have to have the view, color and snap
    dividers in the
    toolbox. My toolbar solution, sort of, has been to use the
    Info and Envelope
    toolbars as catch-alls for my most-used icons -- align, path
    operations,
    Xtras. I fill them up to the full width of my screen.
    While I appreciate customizable toolbars, I think the
    programmers tried to
    design the interface so that new users could find their way
    around, but gave
    little thought to the experienced user who does not need all
    that
    hand-holding, and would much prefer to reclaim that wide
    swath of screen
    real estate.

  • Docking / visibility of panels

    My problem is on Illustrator CC on a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display.
    I have the tool palette on the left hand side and the panels on the right hand side (Swatches, Stroke, Layer etc.)  I would like to dock these panels on the right hand side so that they move with the application frame but I can't find out how. I always have to reposition them when I resize the app frame or if I go to full screen. Is there a solution here?
    In addition, sometimes I work from the laptop screen, sometimes I'm plugged into an external 27" monitor. When I move from the external monitor to the laptop screen, the panels often extend beyond the bottom of the screen hiding layers in the layer panel which then can't be accessed. This happens even if I close Illustrator before disconnecting the screen. When I open Illustrator later on the laptop screen these panels extend off the screen and I can't see how to resize them.

    Probably the easiest way would be to make two different workspaces with things laid out as you need for the different sizes and switch as needed.

  • Photoshop CC 2014: how to dock the floating Options bar?

    hi Photoshoppers,
    Anyone know how to dock the Options bar in PS CC 2014? When I open it for the first time, it floats. I tried looking this up online and can't find a solution. I figure it can't be rocket science.
    kind regards,
    -c

    Ok, let's go for a Preferences Reset.
    Windows - CTRL-SHIFT-ALT immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
    Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
    Wait for the "Delete Photoshop Settings" dialog, release the keys and click "Yes"

  • Floating Panels that don't go away on Minimize!?

    I've been painting away and pulled out the Layers and History Panels; so they're floating, so to speack. I then Minimised PS, using the Yellow Button. The window minimized, but the Layers and History Panels stayed on screen!!?
    So what caused that. is it an error, bug, or just something I've done?
    Regards
    Richard

    Hi and thanks for prompt reply!
    I have to use Hide.
    I didn't think the Panels would be treated as windows, quite strange!
    If you Minimize the Panels they are just reduced in size... so this Minimize related to PS.
    No major problem!
    thanks again!

  • A Win7 taskbar, Ubuntu Unity or OS X dock for gnome-panel?

    Is there a widget for gnome-panel that I can add applications to and at the same time show open applications, with only one icon per application?
    As the title suggest, I want something similar to the Windows 7 taskbar, or the Ubuntu Unity sidebar, or the OS X dock.
    I'm aware of Gnome Do. But it has a separate dock. I want these application icons to appear in a normal gnome panel.

  • Idea - free floating panels and windows

    Hi I would like to see the free floating windows we had in previous versions in CS6. They were so flexible. Perhaps they are there but I could not locate them. I run macbook pro/ lion/ external monitor. thanks

    The only thing that has changed in CS6 is that the Application Frame is now checked by default.
    You can turn it off in an instant by going to the Window menu in Photoshop and UNchecking the Application Frame menu item.

  • No Dock Background (Floating Icons)

    Is there a terminal command to completely hide the dock.  I've tried the "no glass" or "hide mirror", but neither of these completely hide the dock.  Had "Mirage" with Mountain Lion, but doesn't work with Mavericks.

    Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
    Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
    Isolating an issue by using another user account
    If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
