Docking a sheet in Numbers on the iPad

Hi,
When viewing a sheet in Numbers on the iPad the sheet moves. I find this disturbing while entering data. Is there a way to dock it so that the sheet remains fixed below the tabs.
Thanks,
- R

As far as I can tell, you can print individual sheets in Numbers for iOS (in fact that is the default) but you can only share the entire document (workbook) as pdf.
It should be possible to Share > Open in Another App, remove the unwanted sheets in the other app (such as GoodReader 4), and email from there.

How to send/mail only one sheet from Numbers spreadsheet on iPad?

  • Best fit/ linear equation in Numbers on the IPad?

Does anyone know how to find the best fit line equation on Numbers for the IPad? I know how to find it in IWork for the MacBook and how to find the line on the Ipad. Thanks

Can you tell me where line of best fit is in the iOS version? I havent seen it yet.
You can search on the Internet for the linear regression formul, and compute the equation yourself. Then you could plot that series of points on your chart to show the line if it is not part of iOS.

  • Overall how good is Numbers for the IPAD?

Overall how good is Numbers for the IPAD?

Learning curve required  but it works well. The user quide is very good, maybe look at that first..
Different options available on Numbers for iPad to what's available on Numbers for Mac.
Dragging around spreadsheet columns on an iPad is fun but probably overall not as intuitive as most apps until you get used to it.

  • I have a password protected Numbers document I created on my MAC and share via DROPBOX. Is there any way to simply view this doc on my IPAD without purchasing NUMBERS for the IPAD?

I use NUMBERS on my MAC to create a password protected document.  I share this doc via DROPBOX.  Is there any way I can view the doc on my IPAD without purchasing NUMBERS for the IPAD?  The doc opened fine on the IPAD before protecting it with a password.

Using the term "opened" may have been incorrect on my part.  Before password protection, I simply viewed the doc by selecting it within my DROPBOX app.  No revisions could be made, but I could view the doc.    Now, with the doc password protected, the IPAD states this file can not be viewed.
The IPAD users guide gives a list of files IPAD can view. Unfortunately, I find no info on how to open/view that file should it be protected. If

  • Adjusting the page size in numbers on the ipad

I need to be able to adjust/set the page size for numbers documents on the ipad. Every time I export the numbers document from icloud as a pdf to a pc the spreadsheets are all over the place with page breaks in the wrong places. If i export as an excel I lose all formatting. I can't download as a numbers doc as the pc will not support it. Is there a way of setting and locking the document/page size with out going through the print option as i do not have an airprint printer and am not going to get one either!

I don't see a setting for page size.  Everything else related to that (sans setting the page size) appears to be found here:
    Click the wrench
    Share & Print
    Print
Select portrait/landscape, content size, page numbering, headers
    Done (don't actually print it)
I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it.  I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

  • Have iPad 4, I synced my outlook contacts to my ipad and blank telephone numbers on the iPad now contain the following characters 'gb' or United Kingdom

I have just purchased a iPAd 4 32gb, and one of my first taskswas to sync it with my contacts off my laptop (Windows) running Windows 7 and Office 2010, however the result of this sync posted in any empty  Telelephone Number box or Address box on both the iPad and the contacts folder of MS outlook either of the following 'gb' or 'United Kingdom', initially I was using iCloud which I have now ceased doing and have now found exactly the same on my iPhone, where the entries 'gb' or 'United Kingdom' in any empty Telephone Number or Addres box.
    Any help would be aprreciated

This article will help (about 1/2 way down).

  • Is there a way using numbers on the ipad too?

If i am pulling a number from a cell on tab 1 of a worksheet to other tabs in that worksheet to save that info per specific tabs if the original number from tab 1 changes? example, i put a number in a cell on tab 1, need that to transfer to a cell in tab 2 and stay there, then the number changes in tab 1, and i need that  new number to transfer to tab 3 with out changing what is in tab 2.  any ideas, i know how to transfer the info, just don't know if it is possible to do what i am explaining above.
also is there anyway to do conditional formatting to cell like you can do in excel?
    Thanks

I don't have an iPad, but I have read that you will get a warning when you open that document on the iPad that the Conditional Format isn't supported in the iOS version.
    Give it a try.

  • XLS Files created by SSRS will not open in Numbers on the iPad

The company I work for creates business intelligence reports which are used in an education environment and are created daily and e-mailed out to staff.  These reports contain fairly simple tables with pupil data.
One customer uses iPads extensively to maximise the quick response to this (behaviour) data.  There is an issue which seems to be prevalent in newer versions of Numbers where these documents can not be opened.  I note a previous discussion on this matter where the only solution was to save the file in excel and then the sheets would open.  This is not really an option here.
I presume that there is some data missing in the header of the XLS file or something but if anyone has any information on this, especially if I can adapt the report in any way to include this data, please let me know if you have overcome a similar issue and how you went about it.
    Thanks,
    Pete H

Hi - thank you for your responses.  I don't have an iPad so testing is all being done on site.
The report is based on three tabs, each producing a basic table with data in.  I can create the reports in CSV and they work fine although the format is all wrong (no tabs etc etc) - but that would lead me to believe that it is nothing in the actual data which is causing the load error.  It also seems fairly intermittent, so I tested with a few different file sizes to make sure it wasn't this - and again nothing too conclusive there.
I presume quicklook is the built in function to view a file, I spotted this today but again it won't open in that or then again when asked to open in Numbers.
Hunting around this forum it seems there is some issue in general with opening some XLS files (especially ones created by SSRS) depending on iOS version, so that is the route I will be looking at tomorrow.  Putting these files through a save loop in excel isn't really an option, so I am going to test with a go between e-mail tomorrow which has in some cases seemed to do the trick - maybe appending something to the original file.  Some other posts have suggested that an XLSX file seems to work a lot better and that is supported in MS SQL 2012 which is on the way for our customers at some point.
    Definitely an awkward one!
    Thanks,
    Pete

  • How do I resize the column in numbers for the iPad

Hi, I have numbers app in my iPad and I can't figure out how to resize the columns.  There are no column headers when I create a new spreadsheet, and I can't click between the columns and even when I turn wrap text off it doesn't resize just overlay.
I hope there has to be a way that I just can't figure out as it seems like a very simple task that should be obvious.
    Karena

Tap on any cell in a table to bring up the table options. You'll see two bars above and to the left of the table. There is a dot in a circle on the top left, and two toggles to increase/decrease the number of rows or columns. To change the width of a column, tap in the bar above the table in the column which you want to resize, and that column will become highlighted. From here you can select multiple columns using the handles to resize multiple columns at once. In the bar at the top, there are two little dashes - drag this left and right to resize the column.

  • How do I make the keyboard appear in Numbers on the iPad?

I just purchased an iPad over the weekend and bought Numbers last night. When I open a new spreadsheet how do I get a keyboard to appear so I can enter data?

    double tap a cell.
If you go to the Wrench icon in the corner and tap go to help... it will take you to the online documentation. Read as much as you can and you will learn an awful lot about what you can do with it.
there is also a "getting started" document that is really good to learn from. It should have been installed with your Numbers install as the only file in the file list. Tab #4 "Adding Cell Content" is the one your looking for, and you should walk through them all, actually doing the small exercises they have.
have fun with it and please come back when you hit a roadblock

  • Is there any way to copy the numbers from the iPad stopwatch?

I am doing some timestudies using the stopwatch in the clock app on an iPad mini.  Is there anyway to get the time out of the stopwatch and into notes or an e-mail?  I would like the text not just a screenshot of the stopwatch.

No, you can't. There are stopwatch apps out there that have that feature, but the default iOS app can not. I agree, it should have that feature.

  • How do I get pages and numbers purchased on the iPad onto the Mac?

I just got a Mac and have previously purchased pages and numbers for the iPad.  When I go to the app store, it wants me to re-buy.

If you want to store the iOS versions on the computer, use the Transfer Purchases function in iTunes or redownload them from the iTunes App Store.
If you want the Mac OS X versions, you need to separately buy them. The developers need to create and maintain the two versions separately and are entitled to charge for both.
