Docking Station NOT Protecting Droid From Heat On Road Trips

I use my Droid as GPS on road trips and always use my docking station. On a recent 5 hour road trip in Florida my Droid lost GPS function because of the heat. The holding unit on the Docking station exposes the Droid to the heat coming through the windshield.  Any news on a redesign of the docking station to address heat concerns for thee DROID.

Not sure if you want to spend more money, but there is a really nice "dock" that actually connects to the air Vent - thereby keeping the DROID X very very cool while running GPS.  It is called the "GOMADIC" and can be found on Amazon.com  ...After much consideration and looking at various DOCKS, I chose that one - and recently drove 9 hours with GPS on the entire time,  navaigation, email, pandora ...  not 1 single reboot due to heat.
Let me know if you can't find the product.

Contacts and calender you can put on icloud then sync to your new phone when its setup to the icloud account. Not sure so with emails.

  • T400 Docking station not a secure lock down.

There is a rash of theft currently where I work. It seems that the docking station will release a laptop even though it is locked down. I am wondering if the cable lock should attach to the laptop instead of the docking station. That will be a pain to do with as many meetings that we go to.
Has anyone else seen this problem or know of a better solution? Is there a known problem with a mechanical issue with the dock station? Other then the obvious of installing cameras.

If security is a concern, I would lock the laptop instead of the docking station. From what I understand, when you lock a docking station, it prevents the mechanical arms on the pad from allowing the laptop to be removed; however, these mechanical arms (plus the docking station locking mechanism) provide nowhere near the security that a Kensington-style lock does. For maximum protection, I would recommend locking BOTH the docking station and the laptop with a flat key or combination computer lock (dual/twin-headed locks are available). A final note - a thief will probably be much more reluctant to rip out the lock from the computer than the docking station.

  • Docking Station T430, Graphic interfaces from notebook and docking station usable at once?

    Dear community,
I have a Thinkpad T430 and I want to use two external monitors.
The Thinkpad T430 has just one mini Displayport and I do not want to use the VGA port.
So I thought about buying a docking station.
    But there are several ones.
I just need an additional (Miini)Display or DVI port.
The question is, if I buy a docking station
which provides an addition Mini Display Port or an additional DVI port am I able to use the one from the docking station and the notebook's integrated mini display port?
    Thanks for your help.
    Kind regards

  • Sony clock-radio docking station not compitable after 2.2.1 upgarde

After upgrading both my iPhones to 2.2.1, my Sony clock-radio docking station (icf-c1ipmk2)does not work with the iPhone anymore. The unit is made for iPhone and worked without any issues until the 2.2.1 upgrade.
Now every time I place the iPhone in the docking station, I get the following message on the iPhone:
"This accessory is not made to work with iPhone."
With the option to start in Airplane mode.
Is anyone else having the same issue? Is there any solution to this?

Just FYI i have the next generation of Sony clock Radio ICF-CD3i(the round one with the pop out dock) and guess what "This accessorie not campatible with iPhone" though i can quite past the warning message then it works fine. The interesting part is i tried it out on another one at the shop at time of purchase and it worked fine. So long and short going to return it get another one see if that works. Just seems like Sony (Love there products not bagging them)need to put more work into working out the compatibility from their end

  • X201 with Docking station not able to connect to Samsung Monitor

When the Samsung (SyncMaster 2053BW) VGA connect directly to X201, the monitor works fine.  When the Samsung VGA connect thru docking, Monitor is blank.  Why?

    hey alin0902,
hard to say why. have you tested the Samsung with another laptop that has a docking station ? does it work? or does it work only if the Samsung is connected directly into the other laptop ?
if it does not work with a different laptop that is docked, we suggest contacting Samsung for assistance.
if it does work, while being docked.. what you could do is to uninstall the current video driver of your X201. let windows install its own generic driver.
once done, dock the unit and try again.

  • Sata HDD Docking Station not reconising on Imac do  i need to download some sort of driver?

H new to all this . Purchased a SATA HDD docking station which stated on box it was compatible with a MAC but plugged it in and can't find it anywhere . Got a small disk with it with softwear but to small for drive. Has anyone had simular problem.

you likely have to download the drivers manually from their website slotin drives such as imacs have don't support tiny optical discs

  • Gojo docking station not supported anymore

  • W520 Docking station not working with exterma DP monitors

It used to work.  Recently, however, if I reboot the thinkpad in the doc, I lose the two DP external monitors.
I.e. the machine boots on internal display, and if I go to windows "screen resolution" I can see the names of the two external monitors greyed out with the wrong resolution.
If I do a WINDOWS-P, then extend to the second one, then make the third the "main display", then disable the internal panel, Im back to where I should be.  If I sleep and wakeup, it keeps the arrangement.  If I dock the notebook while running, it automatically jumps to the correct arrangeement (i.e. internal panel off, two external displays extended).
Its only if I boot when in in the doc it fails, and I ahve to wait for 5 minutes fo tthe machine to boot, then faf about for another minute to get the displays working.  I have never had this problem with Dell laptops in docking stations with external displays.
I dont expect a solution - and I accept im probably the only person who gets this error.
The machine cant reboot (I can only shutdown and cold boot) since I enabled password protection for the HD in the bios, so I cant test that.

With Optimus enabled, the W520 and other Optimus machines lose their brains on a restart.  This is present in the T420 and the T420S, too.
I have just gotten used to doing shutdowns.

  • EN488AA docking station - not charging

Hi all, this is my first post on this forum (i dont work for HP) so be nice
We have had a few docking stations (EN488AA) which have stopped charging the laptop's when they are docked. As an electronics engineer my interest was tweaked and I had to take a look.
The cause of the problem turned out to be a burnt out track on the pcb, which was easily repaired by soldering a small link between the 2 adjacent solder pads. See photo below.
If they are out of warranty its well worth letting someone handy with a soldering iron taking a look, the only tricky bit is getting the little connector plugs for the power switch and release button LED's in and out (you can do it with a pair of long tweezers).

Thanks for your input on this charging problem.  Your picture of the connection helps.  My PCB has a fine wire connected to where you indicate a blown out connection.  I still don't get a charge when I use the docking station.  Did you find any other areas to look?

  • Docking station not controlling iPod Nano 6th gen.

I have an iPod Nano 6th generation. When this is connected to my Teac iTB400 docking tower, not all of the remote functions will work.
Pause / Play and Stop are OK but the Up / Down / Left / Right buttons don't function.
What is the cure for this problem?
    Regards
    _Keith_

    Hey, thanks for the reply.
Just about tearing the hair out as nothing seems to work. Followed the apple suggested steps, uninstalled itunes - pc recognises nano as a drive, reformatted drive using defaults, reinstalled itunes plugged in nano - it fires up itunes and looks like it is syncing but does not appear in the toolbar.
Then I used msconfig to restart with all but apple software - this time plugged in nano on different usb port, itunes recognised nano for as long as it took to name the ipod in the first screen then it froze.
Brand new nano - feel like taking a hammer to it - or the pc.
Gonna try another pc today, will keep posting.
    Anybody else had any luck?
    Cheers.

  • Protective cover that works with road trip

I'm about to purchase an Ipod Classic but I'd first like to find a protective cover or skin that I can keep on when it's hooked up to road trip. I had a former Ipod that would not fully connect the the charger/transmitter when I had a simple silicon skin on it. Any suggested cases or skins? Thanks

    Hi flightywriter.
The only option is to remove the case/cover from the tablet, while setting it up on the Cradle.

  • Docking station display doesn't activate after upgrading display driver

I have a ThinkPad T400. I just reinstalled Windows 7 (64-bit) using a clean image. The automatic display driver that Windows found was for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series from 2010. When I put the laptop onto the ThinkPad docking station, the monitor, connected by VGA, was detected just fine and the screen came up in the correct resolution. However, I was having problems with slow cursors in various programs (e.g., Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Office) and hangs in Office that seemed related to the display driver. So I downloaded the Switchable Graphics Driver and installed it (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t40... That solved the other problems, but now when I put my laptop onto the docking station or wake it from sleep while it's docked, the monitor never turns on -- the picture stays on the (closed) laptop screen. The only way I've found to get the monitor to turn on is to open the laptop and use Windows-P to turn it to "projector only" (while still docked) and then it finds the monitor (and gives me an error message saying that no projector was detected). Sometimes when this happens it tries to keep the laptop screen resolution, which is unfortunately not the same as my monitor. When I revert to the old driver, the docking station works just fine but other programs hang or are slow.
Please help! I really need my docking station to work, but I would also like to use hardware accelerated graphics rendering, which the other programs appear to want. (Or I need a way to turn it off so that it doesn't try to do that and I'll see if non-accelerated graphics work.)

  • Iphone via TV out cables component av cable - docking station

I bought the mac component AV cables to hook up my iphone to my entertainment center. I had the docking station included with the iphone so i hooked it up to the cables I bought. I changed the setting in the iphone to output to the TV. I set the iphone in the docking station and it just played through the iphone. After some experimenting I found out it was the docking station that prevented me from hearing it through my entertainment center. I just hook the iphone directly to the cables I bought from MAC and it works fine. I would like to use the docking station though.
Any ideas or is a MAC issue?
    thanks
    Nixman

I wouldn't be surprised if you had to purchase a universal dock to get audio working through it. Not worth it in my opinion, especially since the cable already works for you.

  • 30 Pin pass through docking station???

Is there such a thing as a docking station that accepts a 30pin connector on the back and simply passes through the entire 30 pins to base where the iPod plugs in?
I have an iPod car kit in my Jeep and it simple comes with a 30 pin cord that you plug in, then have to find a place to lay the iPod on my console.
I would much rather just hard mount a docking station someone on the car so I can just dock the iPod as I come and go.
However the problem with most docking stations is they don't pass all 30 pins of the connection through ... they only use a handful of the connections(power, audio out). So when I plug my car kit into most of docking stations, then dock the iPod ... they don't work.
I need all 30 pins as my stereo takes complete control of the iPod when plugged in; all control is routed through the stereo and the ipod controls are locked out.
Any suggestions would be great ... I've bought and returned a number of models already ... even dissected a few to see if I could mod them myself.

If "wiggling" the headphones plug in the iPod's jack makes it work, there is probably a hardware problem with the iPod's headphones jack.
Which iPod shuffle model do you have?  This document shows the four types
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
Except for the 1st gen model, the shuffle's headphones jack is used for both docking and playing, so how are you able to use a docking station to play audio from the shuffle (if it's not a 1st gen model)?
