Docking station wont charge

can anyone help when my ipod in docking station it doesnt charge this is second one is there a problem with my ipod or my docking station it driving me mad

Hello jejack,
Please note that
If you are using the iPod Hi-Fi with batteries (and not plugged into an electrical outlet) and you connect an iPod with a dock connector, the batteries in your iPod Hi-Fi provide a minimum charge to iPod. If the iPod is on, it charges for 15 minutes. If the iPod is asleep, it charges for 30 minutes. If you disconnect the iPod and reattach it, the charge cycle starts again. The best way to charge an iPod connected to the dock connector port is by connecting the iPod Hi-Fi to AC power.

    1) When I go to the apple.com website my computer will either be really slow or freeze my whole system down to where I have to reboot my computer again. This does not happen all the time but when it does operate it is molasses slow.
By any chance, are you uswing Kaspersky security software?
    If so, see:

  • EN488AA docking station - not charging

Hi all, this is my first post on this forum (i dont work for HP) so be nice
We have had a few docking stations (EN488AA) which have stopped charging the laptop's when they are docked. As an electronics engineer my interest was tweaked and I had to take a look.
The cause of the problem turned out to be a burnt out track on the pcb, which was easily repaired by soldering a small link between the 2 adjacent solder pads. See photo below.
If they are out of warranty its well worth letting someone handy with a soldering iron taking a look, the only tricky bit is getting the little connector plugs for the power switch and release button LED's in and out (you can do it with a pair of long tweezers).

Thanks for your input on this charging problem.  Your picture of the connection helps.  My PCB has a fine wire connected to where you indicate a blown out connection.  I still don't get a charge when I use the docking station.  Did you find any other areas to look?

Does the dock manufacture say it is compatible with the 5G iPod with iOS 6.0.1?
Have you went to the manufacturer's support site? Contacted them?
Try resetting the dock. How you do that depends upon the dock
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

I have my iPod touch since Christmas 2010. I was using it laast night and it went dead. I connected it to my PC and still nothing is happening. Does anyone know what I can do???

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Using an old iPod docking station charger

Does the Touch take the same charger as the original iPod 20G?
I'd like to use my old docking station to charge the Touch.
    Thanks.
    Don

it depends whether it uses USB or Firewire to charge. Second Gen iPod Touches will not charge using anything other than USB. First Gens should work find though.

  • Charging IPod on Klipsch Speaker Docking Station

I leave my IPod on the docking station 24 hours a day so that I don't have to put it on and remove it everytime I want to listen to music even after the battery is fully charged. Am I destroying the battery life by doing this? My battery doesn't seem to last as long anymore. Any suggestions?

As long as you occasionally use it on battery power and drain the power, this shouldn't really be a problem.
These docking stations quit charging once the battery if fully charged, so there is no way this can fry your battery. Can it reduce the battery life, certainly, this is why I'd recommend that you use it on battery occasionally. Always, always running it on AC will eventually take its toll on the battery.

  • Why did my 4th generation iPod touch stop working with my docking station?

I have an Altec docking station and my iPod suddenly stopped working on it.  The station comes on and makes a beeping noise like it is connected when I insert the iPod.  However, the music will only come out of the iPod.  The docking station will charge the battery on the iPod, so I assume it isn't broken.

    - While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.

  • IPhone 4 not working with Sony docking station

    Hi guys,
My iPhone 4 is no longer working with my Sony SRS-GU10 docking station. It connects with the docking station and charges, but there is no sound.
I've tried to reset my iPhone, but that didn't work. I've turned off the bluetooth and that didn't help. I blew into the iPhone connector and the docking station and got it working for 10mins. It's just strange how it's just stopped working! Just wondering if it's knackered or can be fixed???
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jen

Try the solution in the post at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3228386?start=0&tstart=0, it worked for me.

  • Notebook docking stations

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC. Does HP make a docking station that will power two external LCD screens at the same time? I need to operate the two screens as screen 1 and screen 2 for reading seperate documents. Thanks, Gene.

    Hello VitaA1961,
Yes, those docking stations will charge your computer while it's hooked up to them. Of course, the docking station itself will require a power outlet.
    Hope that answers your question.
    Cheers,

  • IPOD freezes in Bose docking station

Occasionally, when playing my iPOD through the BOSE docking station, it freezes; the screen display freezes and it won't work again until it has discharged all its power. As it's been in the docking station it charges, so the discharge is usually over night. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? Grateful for any tips.

My Bose Docking Station sometimes refuses to work (with my 2nd gen Touch), but I've found that disconnecting the Bose from power, waiting twenty seconds and then powering it back up sorts out the problem.
Try it, you have nothing to lose.

Look at the previous discussions on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This".
You can also try teh standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - restore to factory defaults/new iPod
Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility.
