How to connect Already created WebI reports with Xcelsius Dashboards

HI Experts,
My requirement it to bring data from already in use WebI reports to a consolidated Dashboard. I am aware of connecting universe with Dashboard with the help of QaaWS.
Is there is any other way that we can connect our dashboard?
We are thinking to publish those dashboards on the SAP Enterprise BI Portal.

Hi,
One can connect WebI reports with Xcelsius dashboards in 3 ways:
1. Using QaaWS : connects universe with Dashboard. Dashboard uses the WSDL link to get data that works on SOAP (that works on exchanging web structures).
2. Using Live Office Connection: With the help of Live Office one can connect the WebI reports directly. One can take advantage of the scheduled instances of the WebI reports. So it is good for time consuming reports.
3. Using BI Web Services: Here custom web services are created of intended report instances. Publication is done from CMS side.
after that WSDL is used as any other web services.

Emailing ppt file with xcelsius dashboard - need advice

We have created a live connection to our xcelsius dashboards via LiveOffice, and we use it to load client-specific data into templated charts. We would like to email the pre-loaded powerpoint dashboards to clients and initially planned on using the "Save Scenario" function until we realized that this loaded/saved data is only available locally.
Any workarounds for loading data, saving, and then emailing to an end-user who is unable to connect to BOE?

Here is what you can do:
-->Run the dahboard in preview mode
>then goto FileSnapshot-->Current Excel data
-->Save the file
-->Import the saved excel file back into your existing dashboard. (Perhaps you can save (""Save as") your original dashboard and then make changes to the new one)
-->Export the file to PPT
--> Now you will be able to share the dashboard with your end users
P.S. You can remove live office connections configured in the data manager from the New dashboard.

You are in the right place for Crystal Reports and you may also want to look in the BI Forums.
A good place to start is the Help file for Crystal Reports Designer and download our sample reports. They don't use B1 as the data source but it will help to see how to use CR.
You need to specify specific questions and "how to's". Books have been written on how to use Crystal reports which is beyond the scope of this forum on one post.

Based on the replies in this thread I'm guessing that there is someone out there that has gotten SSO to work with Xcelsius? If so could you please post the details of how that was achieved?
When we purchased Xcelsius we were under the impression that it supported SSO but have never been able to get it to work and finally had SAP tell us that Xcelsius did not support SSO.
Our understanding is that in order to bypass a login for Xcelsius you have to use QaaWS as the datasource and hardcode an enterprise id and password.
LiveOffice supports SSO but not when it's used as a datasource within Xcelsius.

SSO doesn't work with Xcelsius using QAAWS, outside Infoview

We have some xcelsius dashboards using QAAWS to retrieve data from database
I would like to know whether SSO works with xcelsius dashboards using QAAWS outside infoview.Currently we get login screen to enter username/password.we are using Windows AD as the authentication type in the environment.

You got it right. Within the InfoView, your Xcelsius-swf gets the CELogonToken as a parameter field to authenticate against the data for example. If you access another Xcelsius-Dashboard from within a swf you can even pass the LogonToken on.
Using dashboard and QaaWS outside of InfoView, the user will have to enter username and password before the data is fetched. At least that is the way it works here.

Also, when you install Dashboards, on the start page you have several link on how to get started ( Go to Help Menu).
Some more details and insight can be obtained from Context Help( Press F1) from the Dashboards tools.
And to take your interest to higher level, you should explore YouTube for some amazing live demos.

I am new to BOBJ and its components. I want to integerate SAP CRM system with Xcelsius to generate dashboards. As per my understanding only through three sources we can generate Xcelsius dashboards
1) Excel sheet 2) Web services 3) Live Office
Now in this case, how can I generate Xcelsius dashboards. How can I connect it to CRM system and How can I fetch the data from it?

to create dashboards with xcelsius is not a big issue, just you've to understand how u get the data from ur database , for the excel sheet its a primary thing that make the xcelsius dashboards work, for the other things its just a work arounds to let ur data come live
like "Live Office" , or "Web Service" or "XML Data map",,,, etc
based on ur business and ur available tools, you can use anything of them to get the data life to the Xcelsius dashboards, read the xcelsius developer guide from business objects thats may help you much around this issue

Column chart in Xcelsius dashboard with scrollbar at the bottom of chart

Hi,
    I have to create a column chart to show headcount numbers for at least 40 counties in my company in xcelsius dashboard. But it does not look good to show all at a time, so I sorted data in descending order in Excel and like to show top 15 values when report is opened and like to have a scroll bar at the bottom of the chart to view remaining from 16-40. Could you help me to achieve this. I am new to xcelsius.

Q) more over it appears tab set height is restricted. Is there a way to increase height?
A) As far as I think, you are adjusting the Tab panel size. Better you click on the Tab button(where labels are mentioned) and then increase the size.
Q) Could you expalin more about paging option in Excel
A) As you said that you have 40 Countries and you want to show top15.
1)     What I suggest you is take a ticker or some other selector in which you show page numbers.
2)     Write a logic in excel such that when ever the selector throws 1 it should fetch first 1-15, when second 16-30         etc                 etc
3)     You can sort the data and then using some if conditions you can fetch the data to chart area.

Is this related to only standard dashboard template then you can find those template in file menu --> samples or --> template. I hope you could have done basic groundwork on this.

Multiple "Instances" of Xcelsius dashboard

Hi,
I am using Crystal Vision Server XI, Crystal Reports XI R2, and Crystal Xcelsius 4.5. I would like to know if there is a way to create one .xlf file that will point to a .rpt report for different divisions based upon their login in Infoview?
I do not want to have to create multiple .xlf files (one for each division) if I can help it. That way if there is a change to the dashboard I want have to make the same change in all of the division dashboards.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a simple case unfortunately. At this point there is not a Crystal Report to tie the dashboard to. We are still doing the reports in another system. The survey is very lengthy (133 questions) and is a mixture of demographic questions and scored questions. Even with a Crystal Report I am not sure that I could tie them together. The current report (the new Crystal Report will be in the same format) has seven columns. The first two columns are standard in that they show the counts of the demographic statements or the score of the range statements trended by date time frames (ie: Qtr 1, Qtr 2, etc..). After that the client gets to choose what they want in the remaining 5 columns. The third column could be a variance of the first two columns for scored statments or it could be the standard deviation of the responses for column 1 or column 2 or it could be the Database score for that statement. You get the point, it is a very versatile report that is not the same for each customer and may not be the same for a paticular client for the next reporting period.
The client for this project has 109 different divisions so you can see why I do not want to create so many dashboards. If they decide to change the format I have to change every dashboard.
Right now my only experience with the dashboards is not very complex. I am a VB .NET programmer but I have not started writing the program that would create the Crystal Reports so I have not studied the SDK enough yet to even really know how to go about using the OpenDocument function. My current dashboards are based on the standard Excel file with mapped .xml files. I update the .xml files daily from a program that reads the calculated scores from a SQL database. At this point that is the only way I have to build these dashboards and I don't think there is a way of getting around the multiple .xlf files.
Sorry this has been so lenghty but this is the dilemma that I am faced with. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Oh yeah, I am now down to three weeks to have this accomplished.

Integrating Xcelsius Dashboard in Launchpad
