Docs to go problem.

I am having an issue now with docs to go, if firewall is enabled I cannot use the word to go Aplication. It says that it is trying to open files inside and outside the fireall and that isn't allowed by my IT policy. I researched this problem on this board and found an answer to go to Dataviz support page to find answer. Here is what I found.

The problem is I dont believe that I am attatched to an enterprise server. This is a personal device not connected to any corporate email, or other. If I disable the firewall on my device I am able to use the docs to go aplication without problems. So one would say just disable the firewall. Okay but does that expose any of my other data to potential theft. I'm not sure I get it as far as the firewall is concerned. I'm looking at it as though it is the same as the firewall software I have installed on my laptop. that protects my laptop while I'm surfing the web. and such.
what then is the case. Is a firewall only necessary if you are on a corporate enterprise server? Or does it have additional protection for the device itself?

Acrobat 9 Pro & Word 2008 doc with sections problem

I have recently switched from Windows to a MacBook Pro and am just now using Word 2008 & Acrobat 9 Pro for the Mac. I have an 11-page Word doc (created with Word XP before the change) that has several sections in it (to change page orientation). When I send that doc to the Acrobat PDF virtual printer, it creates several files corresponding to the sections in Word, but omits the first section completely. This never happened with Word XP and Acrobat 7.Is there something I missed in setting up Acrobat? Is this common with the Mac version of Acrobat?

This is a long standing issue between Acrobat (Adobe/Apple/Microsoft). Both Microsoft and Adobe Blame on Apple. But the problem has been around since Mac OS 6 days and acrobat 2-3. Back then Mac didn't even you the Abobe PDF engine for visual and printing as in OSX. Adobe refuses to fix the problem because they are not as big a fish as Microsoft. Microsft if you don't fix a problem for them it means the death of your Company. Microsoft has included a work around in 2008 . That is go to Save as... and choose PDF.
It will save as one document, Unless there is a switch in Page orientation. Microsoft both on Bulletin Boards (Forums) and on website say that the code is identical for Mac and PC version except for VBA missing, key layouts and inteface changes. But MS refuses to allow Adobe a Look at their Page and section Break codes so they can cure it.
Try saving as PDF in Word 2008 make sure version ia 12.2.1. Next see if all pieces are there.
In Acrobat and choose insert pages then choose the next section. and add to end. go to end and repeat with next section, and repeat, with next section until all the pieces are together. I wish the problem was fixed it been going on since the day Acrobat came on the scene. And the aprties are so afraid and scecretive they won't work together to fix the problem. But that business these days everyone is out for themselves, and don't care who get affected in the process.

Transferring word docs to palm problems

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner student. I use my Palm for Epocrates (medical software) primarily, but I also generate word docs (cheatsheets of sorts) that are downloaded into the documents function on the Palm when I hot sync. All of a sudden, I can update my Epocrates without any problem but any new word docs that are placed in the "files to install" folder are not transferring to the palm. I caught my 5 year playing with my palm a few days before this problem started. He might have deleted the software on the palm? My palm came with one disk - Palm Desktop- I reloaded it and that did not resolve the problem. If I am missing the software, where do I find it to reinstall it. Assume complete ignorance when giving me direction. HELP!!!

When you look on the TX, do you see the documents icon on the home page?
Are you using Documents to Go on the Computer to sync files?
Are you using a MAC?
Have you tried a soft reset of the handheld? Try that by pressing the reset button on the back of the TX.

Cannot print a pdf doc. No problem with others

Hello, I have a Canon MX860 wireless printer. I can print anything EXCEPT pdf docs. I had this same problem with other printers connected to my MacBook Pro. Any suggestions?

I think we need to know what Sibleyfam is using as a PDF reader. I have had difficulties printing PDFs using Adobe Reader to various HP LaserJets but if I open the files using Preview they print without any problem at all. Right-click or Control-click on the PDF icon and select the Open With option... then slide across to the available applications and select Preview... if, of course, the document was opening in Adobe Reader previously. If it won't print from Preview it could be a postscript error generated by a bad font in the PDF. Opening the file in Photoshop or similar so you are, effectively, rasterizing the font data may solve the problem if a dodgy font is the issue. Converting the file to Postscript should also produce the same fix though I just 'printed' a PDF as a .ps file and the text was still selectable making me think that the font problem (if it is this) will not disappear after the conversion.
I hope this helps eliminate something even if it doesn't solve your problem.

30-pin Doc Connector - Potential Problem ?

Hello,
Today I inserted my charger into the 30-pin doc connector and the phone
started to charge normally. Usually when the charger is not fully plugged in
I push it in a little more so that it has fitted all the way in. I thought the charger
had not gone in all the way (when it had) and I pushed it in more three more
times with a little bit of force. Nothing happened and the phone charged just
fine and everything was normal.
My question is,
1) By additionally pushing in the charger, have I in any way
damaged the 30-pin doc connector?.
2) Should I be concerned for the future?.
3) How can a pin doc connector possibly damage? (ie by pushing or bending etc?)

It appears that the device was defective right out of the box and if that's the case I would return it right away for an exchange and indicate the issue that you are having with the dock connector. Also inform them that there appears to be an object that's wedged/stuck in the connector and that you received it in that condition. From my past experiences Apple is very good about exchanging items like that especially when you receive it in that manner/condition. I hope that helps. My apologies I also forgot to point out that if it's an Online purchase you don't have to do an online return you can simply go to your nearest Apple Store along with your printed out Online Apple store receipt that you received with your shipment.

New User with a doc to go problem

I upgraded my OS to 4.5 on my 8330 Curve and got the docs to go without the excel. I put excel on as was set out in one of the threads but now when trying to get HTML set up I lost the excel portion(my incompetence not the HTML process). I tried removing the battery to reset and it did not work. I tried restoring from a prior date and that did not work. I tried going back to register again and I did not get that option.Does anyone know how I could get it back? Thanks.

Using a dummy acct. to test-drive apps & docs to locate problem...

I recently have resorted to a clean install after troubleshooting a breakdown. In an effort to locate the source of the problem, I began installing hardware units one at a time (M-Audio interface, 2nd monitor, FW HD, USB HD and 2 USB printers), followed by applications, also one at a time. After loading and testing Logic 7.2, I loaded the Print Shop. Next I loaded Finale (which application I was using, along with Safari, when my computer initially went into it's tail-spin). Before testing Finale, I ran an installer for a Garritan sound library, included with the Finale install disc and meant to work with Finale. Immediately following this, my computer began acting very drunk. After a long, slow reboot, I was eventually able to remove both Finale and Garritan. My comp ran normal until the next morning, after which time I couldn't get past the blue screen at start-up. With phone help from Apple i was eventually able to boot up in safe mode. Further checking and testing eventually led to another clean install. Having cleaned the slate, I now wish to test each application in a test account, so that I don't trash my own personal account again. Once I have tried and proven an app, how do I transfer it from the test account to my own personal account (do I have to reinstall it or can I just move it from one account to another)? Is this even a reasonable way to test my stuff or is it a waste of time?

Also, if I used disk image and have to reload it onto a wiped HD, how do I open & install the clone without having to reinstall from my Tiger disc first?
A Disk Image & a Clone are two different things, you need an operating OS to Mount/Restore the Disk image, a Clone you just select to boot from by holding the Option key down at bootup, and really the way to go.

Adobe Doc. Service problem: Read Timed Out

Hi,
I'm using Sneak Preview SP15. I've followed the guide
and still have the problem. Based on the flow chart in
the guide, I just need to do 3 steps. two of them are
already done by the installation process. The steps are:
1. Create User ID and group
2. Set up basic authentication
3. Install credential file
When I performed the test from
localhost:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config it return
the version info, which indicates that the config is
correct. Then I execute one of the demo web dynpro
application using adobe form, and it produced Read timed
out error.
Does anyone know what did I do wrong?

Thanks for the feed back. I don't think that is the problem since the same project when i deploy and run in the office server it runs just fine. The problem only when I Deploy and Run on my sneak preview server. If changing the setting as Markus mentioned above doesn;t work, then I will try to change the cardinality of the node.

Printing docs - not a problem previously...

I'm trying to print a large document. I have it saved in Word 'Word X for Mac Service Release 1'. My printer - HP Deskjet F2280 - doesn't seem to print ANY Word docs properly. So I save as an RTF document, and can print ok. But - BUT - some parts of the document (Text boxes - AND, more importantly - their contents) are not printed. There's just a space on the document where they should be.
I've reinstalled the Printer drivers, but I don't think I've got the original Word installation disc.
Any ideas, people?

I'm guessing it's an issue with Office, so you're either going to have to re-install, or use an alternative such as Pages (which can open DOC/DOCX files and export to DOC).

Converting PageMaker doc to pdf: problem with special characters

I am using PageMaker 7 on Windows XP. I converted a PageMaker document to pdf (I use Acrobat 8 Professional), which worked fine except for two special characters that didn't convert: ć and ş, which convert as ae and a degree sign. What can I do to convert the document properly?

You may want to ask in the Acrobat forum since Reader is simply viewing the results.
But I would suspect that you are having font embedding issues. Check to see that all fonts are embedded in the document. File>Properties>Fonts.

Importing Word Docs(2007) into InDesign CS4 problem

Well, I am creating a users guide in CS4 InDesgin, and I have a Word 2007 doc with tables in it, about 6 pages total, when I try to import that file, the whole InDesign freezes up and does not respond. When I have imported docs before, I had no issue? Is there something I am not doing? or is there a bug that I don't know about?

Well, I just accidently figured it out.. in Word 2007, if you save it as .docx is when I have the issue of InDesign freezing up and having to shut it down and restart InDesign. However, if I saved Word file as 97-2003 file .doc then no problem importing.. Thanks anyhow.. I hope this helps other folks..

Problem with Doc type change in ME51n

During ME51N, when I change the document type of PR system keeps on Processing/busy mode, takes long time (almost 5min) to effect the doc type change in drop down.
there is no processing time taken if i enter the the other data in the transaction like quantity,Plant,Purchasing organisation.
So my Problem is that system takes too much type only when I try to change the Doc Type of PR in ME51N.
(Note: In debug mode I try to locate the pain point, I noticed that system stuck at module 'Even_pie_finished'...there it keeps on processing continuously.)
Please input on problem. I am putting this on MM forum at times.

But the Problem is not on changing the Doc type rather Problem is with too much time taken by system when I try to change the doc Type of PR. Prerequisites related to changing the doc type are there in place.
System goes in into processing mode for long time movement I change the Doc type.

Strange problem when opening word doc situated in WLS virtual dir

we have a strange problem when opening word doc
situated in C:\Oracle\Middleware\as_1\forms\webutil
we put some word docs there and tried to open from forms using for example web.show_document('http://wp0606:9001/forms/webutil/mug00103.doc', '_blank');
no problem using FF, however in IE8 the word doc is shown in its binary format, this also happens when we try to open the doc in IE8
however when we google and search for instance for a test.doc and then click on this url a file save dialog is shown
that's why we believe that this might be due to a configuration issue of WLS
any help would be greatly appreciated

I think you have 2 ways to go here. Figure out what html is from wherever weblogic gets it, meaning you have to delve into the docs, snoop
around in directories and find what it must be sending (This is going to be unavoidable if you are going to change what weblogic is doing.
Sooner or later you have to try to figure out where it gets this stuff from)
or
you can experimentally snoop on your url with a tool like wget or curl. These are fundamental web tools.
The latter is always a useful thing to be able to do. (you need to formulate a query to get the content-type).
Whoever managed to get weblogic to serve any files in the first place probably can figure this out.

How to use FM CRM_ORDER_READ using only object_id(sales doc)
