Docs won't convert to .pdf

WIN XP Home; WordPerfect Office 12; Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard; HP Deskjet 722C - do all my doc work in WP12; have been able to convert docs to .pdf with no problems (Print, choose Adobe printer, go); today, however, for whtever reason when attempting to do such conversion from any doc in WP12, Acrobat is snitty and tells me that there is a problem with the doc(s); attempting to convert from within Acrobat results in the same. So, anyone able to tell me which gremlin(s) I need to kill to get this to work correctly again? Have already uninstalled/reinstalled Acrobat; didn't change anything. Any help much appreciated. The log info is typically only 10 lines or so. If so, post it here as there are some folks who are pretty good at reading them. Sometimes I can catch the jist. Often the problem is a font that is not found or is not allowed for embedding. If that is the case, you can try to disable the button on the font menu of the Job Settings that causes the job to fail if the font issue comes up. The font would be wrong in the resultant PDF, but the file would be created. It might be something to check.
You really do not have to do the extra step of printing to file, but generally the log file is written in the folder where the PDF was to do if conversion fails and you can open it separately.

It sounds as though the PDF file that you're trying to convert has been password protected. Without removing that password (which requires Acrobat, and knowing the password), you won't be able to convert the file via ExportPDF.

Preview won't convert postscript - PDF anymore

I make a Postscript file in emacs (using `ps-spool-buffer-with-faces'). I save it, append the `.ps', and double-click. Preview then SAYS it is converting it. What I see is a list of EMPTY WHITE pages. The document is the proper length, just all blank. Does it contain white text? Well, if you enter a word in the search field, it says it's not found. So probably not.
But this same Postscript document is properly converted using, e.g., ps2pdf.
Can anyone explain this?

Acrobat 8 is not Win 7 compatible. Especially Win7 64 bit. I don't think think Acrobat X supports MS Office 2003. You should be able to print to pdf, it is just that the conversion from within the 2003 toolbar will not work, which means you will lose a lot of special functionality.

Anything over 20mb won't covert from PDF to WORD, I just get an error message..why?

Converting to PDF is not working

I pay a monthly fee to be able to convert documents to PDF, but it has not been working. The 1st 3 documents I converted several months ago were a breeze, but since then going through the same procedure is completely unsuccessful. All it does is say "uploading" and never goes any further. Is there any way to get this fixed, or if not how on earth do I find a way to contact this company to cancel my subscription/license? I can't keep paying for something that does not work.

Pdf file won't convert to word.doc but gives me no error code to fix it

I have a Word doc that I previously converted to PDF. I made updates and now it won't convert. Just gives me an unexpected error message. This happened after a Windows update so it could be related but some other docs have converted with no problem.

To all those having trouble converting documents to pdfs, I did some research and found a work around.
Go to File and choose Save & Send. Then choose Create PDF/XPS document. Click the Create button. PDF is generated.

If the PDF that you converted already has searchable text, please try disabling OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel. (If the PDF was created from a scanned document and doesn't already have searchable text, disabling OCR isn't a great option, as the text won't be searchable/editable in the converted Word doc.)

Converting MS Word docs with coloured bacgrounds to pdf

Forgive an Acrobat 'dope' but this outwardly appears to be a simple problem ....... that I can't figure out!
For work I am using Microsoft Office Word 2003 (MS Office Pro 2003) and Acrobat 8 Pro. I have no problem converting an MS Word doc, with background or foreground images and text, into a pdf. However, if I give any MS Word doc a coloured background, using the Format Menu > Background > and then selecting a colour, that colour is not carried across in the conversion to pdf - I end up with a standard white page, instead of the coloured one!
Where am I going wrong? Or is this coloured background something that Acrobat won't convert, whatever I do? I don't wish to produce a 'pseudo' effect by placing a coloured image behind the text (which I know will work) because the pdf file sizes become larger than I want. I want to 'colour the paper' using MS Word's menu, and convert to a pdf with that same 'coloured paper' being the result. Is it possible? If so, how?

In WORD: TOOLS>Options>Print>Background Colors and Images (I already had background printing checked, but that refers to the printing process, not the background. Checking this other box does the trick. It is probably off by default to keep from using ink in regular printers.)

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm not surprised that ExportPDF is having a hard time converting handwriting. One option is to disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Then, ExportPDF won't try to convert those elements into editable text. The only drawback to that is that you won't be able to edit those items when you open the converted document in Word.

Why won't my word document converted to PDF save?

When in word, I select the option to convert to PDF, the document is scanned and I'm prompted to save as PDF. All seems to work except it doesn't actually save! This was working previously until an update a few months ago. Any help is appreciated.

First, have you removed from Printer Utility the Adobe PDFPrinter 9.x fom the list then close Printer Utility.
Then open Acrobat or Adobe Reader and go to help menu and choose to repair or rplace. Choose to replace the PDFPrinter only.
(One thing that we can't seem to get Aodobe to fix is that (at least in X.4.11 and I've heard some folks using X.5.x talk about.
When you go to page setup in Acrobat you can not select any Printer what so ever.
Does not even pickup choices in the Print/Fax Control panel in system preferences.
However you can choose it in the Print menu.
IF you decided to install Reader, you may or may not be able to set printer in Page setup.
However, if you can set up in Reader's page setup. It will show up in Acrobat's.
Its an obvious bug Adobe refuses to admit or can't fix. I've heard some say they've heard the problem but never seen it.)
Next, open Word 2008 or 2004 (don't remove 2004 it has far more features than 2008)
create your Document.
Save a copy as DOC or DOCX document first.
Now go to Print menu and choose Acrobat PDFPrinter 9.x(x being the most current revision).
and choose Print. with the version 9.x the pdf will automatically be set to desktop and you have no choice where it save.
All versions previous to 9.0 a window would come up giving you a chance to choose the dsired location.
9.0 does not. THis is a super major bug, that only a rank amature would committ.
One thing Apple has preached fro day one; do not save any file you want to keep to the desktop.
The desktop is a Temporary file. and in event of a crash the desktop is rebuilt and the file may go missing.
Items such a Yahoo widgets get by, by using a special Database that tells where each widget is supposed to go, and and in event of crash simply recreates them.
