When XE was first released, there was no SQL Developer. Now that there is, we encourage the use of that for the DB Admin functions that we had added to APEX just for XE. All the SQL is provided for you here (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html). In the future, we will work to expose these functions more nicely through SQL Developer but you can feel free to create an application with all the SQL - you will just need a privileged user to execute most of it.

  • Patch available on oracle website

    Hi,
    Is there any patch of oracle database server for AIX which oracle allow to download without going to metalink web site?
    If yes , could you please give me the link...?
    If not, then can I assume that oracle allow downloading of patches only to its customer having valid CSI ?

    For database and OC4J & WLS app servers, patches are officially only available from Oracle Support.
    Most 'free' products, such as JDeveloper, SQLDeveloper, Application Express and Grid Control, are either patched or respun (released) on OTN.
    You want a database patch, you need a CSI. You get a database patch without a CSI, the organization that paid for the CSI that did the download is at risk to lose it themselves.

    to use MyOracleSupport Communities you need to be part of an organization that gives you access to the the Support with a CSI - That is correct!Got it.
    On the other side, working on this other Community will give you the opportunity to integrate the threads with all the contents available from Oracle Support.Even its good point, where we can look up into different communities.
    By the way, I would like to clarify that the Community I'm advertising here is NOT replacing this OTN forum.
    As you said, I just wanted to take the chance to advertise it in the interest of every customer who can access it.
    Hope this helps.Thank you, But you know? still i like to give some good priority to OTN, why because. People who are learning and trying to explore their knowledge and who do not have CSI, where they can contact? they are really helpless. & Support community people all have CSI activiated they can raise SR any time.
    Of course you are not asking to leave OTN, its just one of my point why i prefer OTN. but for sure will see threads from Community as well.

    Rosario, don't feel bad -- English is my only language, and those acronyms give me trouble sometimes, too. The quickest and easiest way to find out what they mean is to go to google.com and type in the letters. That is what I do.

  • Oracle 9i feature not available in Oracle 10g

    The following query does work in Oracle 9.2.0.4 (and 9.2.0.5), but does not work in Oracle 10.1.0.3 (Linux)
    SELECT *

    The error message
    ORA-29913: error in executing contains callout
    ORA-15198: operation [contains with non-leaf node] is not yet available

    Does anybody know, when this feature is available in Oracle 10, too ? Already in 10.1.0.4 ? Or in Oracle 10g Release 2 ?
    Thanks,

    I assume you have Windows on the client. The "Drivers" page of the ODBC_DSA should list all installed drivers. You require:
    name= Oracle ODBC Driver
    version= 8.01.07.00 (or something similar)
    company= Oracle Corporation DO NOT USE the Microsoft one.
    If this does not show, then either it was not included in the Oracle Client installation or you have not rebooted after the Oracle Client installation; the ODBC driver is not visible until rebooted.

  • DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.CREATE_PROPAGATION not available in Oracle 8i

    Hi,
    I need to propagate message from queue in Oracle 8i to queue in Oracle 9i.
    From Oracle 9i, I am able to propagate message by creating subscriber and creating propagation by
    DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.create_propagation.
    I am using same steps to propagate message from queue in Oracle 8i to queue in Oracle 9i.
    However, DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM.create_propagation is not available in Oracle 8i.
    Is there any alternate way of propagating message from Oracle 8i ?
    Thanks,
    Shailesh

    create a PL/SQL function in your Oracle8 database that can dequeue the message from your Oracle8 queue; this function will call DBMS_AQ.DEQUEUE to read the message object. Lets call it DEQUEUE8;
    In the function, break out the object into its members (the individual scalar elements of the object type) and return those as OUT parameters. Use the function return value to tell you success or failure (eg timeout).
    Now, from Oracle 9, call that procedure remotely across a database link:
    declare
      ... variables
    begin
      -- loop for ever (or at least until you get a stop signal of some type)
       while 1=1 loop
         result := dequeue8@orcl8(p1, p2, p3, ...);
         if result < 0 then
          ... report error
         else
            ... pack the values p1,....p3, ... into your Oracle9 payload object, then
            DBMS_AQ.ENQUEUE(...);
         end if;
      end loop;
    end;I'll leave it to you to do the hard work!

  • Dbms_aq.namespace_aq is not available in Oracle 8i.

    Hi,
    I have created persistent queue in Oracle 8i, I have also created the subscriber.
    But I have read that in order to notify when the message arrives in queue, in sys.aq$_reg_info namespace must be dbms_aq.namespace_aq for persistent queue, and I suppose dbms_aq.namespace_aq is not available in Oracle 8i.
    Is it True ?
    If yes, then is there any other way to notify when the message arrives in a persistent queue ?
    Your thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shailesh

    Hi,
    True, notification is a 9i and up feature. It works like this: A job owned by SYS is polling every few seconds and checks on any queue's/subscribers that are defined/signaled for notification. If a message arrives in these queue's another AQ-message is inserted into queue SYS.SRVQUEUE. The payload of this message among others consists of the call-back procedure which is executed.
    So, what you could do is build the nofication system yourself. Create a job that polls your notification queue and check if a new message has arrived and then execute your call-back procedure.
    Regards,
    H

  • Data Transformation Service (DTS) available in Oracle SQL Developer?

    Hi All,
    Sorry to bother you again. Is Data Transformation Service (DTS) available in Oracle SQL Developer? So far I cannot find it. For example, i want merge First Name, Last Name column from Access,excel or cvs to migrate as Full Name in Oracle or Full name in Access,Xls or cvs split into First name & last name column in Oracle. What method or service should I use.
    Regards,
    Tun Tun

    On wikipedia, I see that's a SQL Server component, so I don't think it's possible to use it in any other program.
    But you can always tweak columns through normal queries, and even create a new table based on that, like
    CREATE TABLE Table_New AS
    SELECT First_Name || Last_Name FROM Table_OldHope that helps,
    K.

    Hi,
    I don't remember exacly: RSA1 -> source system -> "replicate datasources". Works this also in a DB-source system. I think so.
    => you get all tables that your user has authorisation.
    This function execute for example (in oracle there are same information tables: dba_tables, user_tables ...) following select in the database:
    select TABLE_NAME from DBA_TABLES;

  • What replication methods are available in Oracle 10g Standard Edition?

    Hi All,
    Our customer wants to have two identical servers at two different sites (Virginia and Utah). Server in Virginia will be the primary and the other one will be Standby. Application will run on the primary database and they would like to be able to use the Utah server (standby) in the event of a failure. The switch over can be manual or automated and does not have to be instantaneous.
    I know these things can be in Enterprise Edition, but the cost is an issue here, so I was wondering what other methods are available to achieve this goal with Standard Edition database running on Windows Server 2008?
    Thank you,
    Sinan

    Spajdy,
    According to the Data Guard documentation:
    Getting Started with Data Guard
    "Oracle Data Guard is available only as a feature of Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. It is not available with Oracle Database Standard Edition."
    Unfortunately, the cost is a concern. I would love to be able to use just the Enterprise Edition and Golden Gate or Data Guard, but it is not possible, so my manager says I have to do what I have to do with the Standard Edition.
    Thanks,
    Sinan

  • Available Now: Oracle Database Lite 10g Release 1

    The Oracle Database Lite development team is pleased to announce the availability of Oracle Database Lite 10g (10.0.0.0.0) for Windows 2000/XP, Solaris 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 2.1/3.0 platforms.
    The Windows release is currently available from OTN at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/lite/index.html
    Oracle Database Lite 10g is a complete and integrated solution for rapid development and deployment of high impact, mission vital applications for mobile and lightweight embedded environments. Oracle Database Lite is an extension to Oracle Database 10g for enterprises wanting to increase productivity, reduce operational costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
    Oracle Database Lite uses data synchronization to reliably and securely exchange data between a corporate Oracle Database and mobile workers. Oracle Database Lite also allows companies to deploy and manage users, mobile applications and devices from a remote central location. Oracle Database Lite provides the necessary framework enterprise customers need to extend their enterprise applications and data to the most popular mobile platforms: Palm OS, Linux, Microsoft Windows CE/PPC, and Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/UNIX.
    The following is a partial list of new features for Oracle Database Lite 10g that will make your mobile deployment easier to manage, use, and develop. A complete list will be available for download/viewing soon.
    Device Management
    As the number of mobile devices in an enterprise increases, it becomes more important to have complete control of the devices. Oracle Database Lite Device Management is a complete infrastructure to monitor and manage Oracle Database Lite assets such as database files, software libraries, data, and application files on remote devices. Device management decreases the total cost of ownership and protects an enterprises intellectual property.
    Single Oracle Lite Binary
    The Oracle Database Lite 10g release contains a single set of Oracle Lite database kernel binaries for all languages, removing the necessity of having different binaries for each of the following languages: Korean, Traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, Japanese, and US/European languages.
    Shared Map
    The shared map function greatly improves performance by reducing sync processing timeand enhances the scalability of shared publication items. Shared maps allow users to share record state information and reduce the size of the resulting replication map tables.
    Offline Instantiation
    Offline instantiation enables quick and easy setup of mobile devices for business applications. Mobile administrators are able to prepare, in batch mode, a client package, which includes the mobile client software and initial data for every mobile user. This procedure helps users avoid an expensive online synchronization processes as part of the first time mobile client setup procedure.
    Synchronization Manager
    The Synchronization Manager is a complete, web-based enterprise management application to manage and monitor synchronization. The Synchronization Manager allows administrators to manage the synchronization service, monitor and analyze sync performance, administer the configuration, trace synchronization history, display and browse synchronization publication and subscription information, and monitor MGP (Message Generator and Processor) performance.
    Oracle Application Server Support
    The Oracle Database Lite 10g Mobile Server now runs as a web application on Oracle Containers for Java (OC4J) – the runtime of Oracle Application Server. If Oracle
    Database Lite 10g is deployed in standalone mode, an embedded version of OC4J will be installed and used. Oracle Database Lite may also be installed against an existing instance of Oracle Application Server.
    Seamless upgrade from Oracle9 i Lite 5.0.2
    The Oracle Database Lite 10g Upgrade Assistant allows customers to easily upgrade from existing Oracle9 i Lite 5.0.2 installations. The Upgrade Assistant automatically converts existing application definitions to the new format, and copies all relevant files to the new installation. As many customers have deployed mission critical systems using Oracle9i Lite technology, the Upgrade Assistant has been designed to minimize system downtime.
    Download
    Oracle Database Lite 10g (10.0.0.0.0) for Windows can now be downloaded from the following location.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/lite/index.html

    I am using Oracle 10g lite. Do you know if it supports silent installation.
