Documaker 12.1 Installation in 3 tiers

I want to install Documaker in three tiers : 1. Presentation Layer , 2. Application Layer and 3.DB . I suppose this is doable . If yes then what are the steps do so ? If not then the tiers given in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22582_01/documaker_enterprise_ig.pdf reference guide in architecture overview section are logical only ? and Documaker will actually have only two tiers of installation first having WebLogic, SOA, Documaker and a DB tier to host all config , metadata etc.
I am not able to find suitable resource which can guide me through a tiered installation on documaker maker. Apart from that I am looking for capacity planning or sizing guide for Documaker 12.1 as I need to calculate the processor required and memory etc for my environments.
Thanks in advance for any help and direction.

The installation guide you mentioned provides the information needed to install ODEE into 3 distinct areas: web application server, database, and backend services. This generally correspond to the 3 tiered approach described as presentation, application, and data. The web applications are deployed to WebLogic server in a new domain as part of the installation process described in the installation guide. The database schema and data are installed using a set of SQL scripts generated by the installer - you must follow the installation guide for correct deployment of these scripts. Finally, the back end services are deployed on the application server during installation. As mentioned in the installation guide, the installer process is run on the application server, then you must copy certain components to the appropriate servers for deployment (eg database and web). All of this is covered in much detail, step by step, in the installation guide.

After you enter your name, company, email, etc.
Select "Oracle Insurance Applications"; "Microsoft Windows (32-bit)"
    Click Go
Select Oracle Documaker Standard or Enterprise Edition Download
Download "Oracle Documaker v12.0 P0 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)" which is part # V24186-01
Follow the installation instructions located on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/insurance-097481.html
Under "Oracle Documaker Documentation Libraries" select "Oracle Documaker Online Documentation Library – Manuals – Release 12.0" which is part number E17552-01 and click View Library (or download it all if you want).
Under "Oracle Documaker Standard Edition - Installation Guides" select the "Documaker Installation Guide" for installation instructions. Refer to Chapter 4 for Windows installation.
Please note that this is the 12.0 version of the Add-In and Documents created with it should be imported into the library using the 12.0 version of Studio.
There are tutorials available on OTN as well under "Oracle Documaker Docmentation Libraries" under "Oracle Documaker Online Documentation Library - Tutorials - Release 11.5"; which is part #E20774-01. These have not been updated with the latest 12.0 changes, but user interface is very similar in most areas and they may prove useful to a new user.

  • 11.3 Download

    Hi Experts:-
I would need to download Documaker 11.3 installation. When I checked the edelivery site, it offers only 12.0.1 for download.
    Where can I download 11.3?
    Thanks
    Balaji

    Hi Balaji,
As you know, Oracle e-delivery site or Software Delivery cloud is for downloading a software for which we already have a license or for a trial period of 30 days for a strictly non business purpose. I haven't seen options to download earlier versions or patches of Documaker through the E-delivery site. You will be able to see the recent version for evaluation & trial purposes.
P.S: http://aru.us.oracle.com:8080/ link might be an internal Oracle link.
    Thank you.

  • Installation Questions Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition

We are looking to install Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition and have the following installation questions:
When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do.  Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install?  If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?

When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
The typical installation scenario is to have 3 tiers - application (WAS), application (Documaker), and data. WAS tiers host web applications (Dashboard, Administrator, Interactive) as well as providing database connection pools and JMS queues for messaging - it is expected that the WAS environment is a clustered environment and that the applications are deployed to the cluster members, which can be physical or virtual. For the Documaker application server, these can be physical or virtual as well. It's recommended to install Documaker on single-purposes environments, however there's nothing to prevent you from doing otherwise. The Documaker applications are self-contained JVMs and can be tuned accordingly.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do.  Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install?  If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
The installation process (currently) writes the scripts according to responses provided during the installation process. The scripts can be reviewed/modified prior to execution.
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?
The official supported version of WAS is 7.0.0.27, however WAS 8.5 may be suitable (I believe there might be a fix pack requirement there - would recommend you submit a question to Oracle Support for verification).

  • Documaker 12.1 ODEE Installation and Configuration

    Hi,
We are in the process of building out a sandbox environment for ODEE 12.1
    - windows XP
    - Oracle 11g
    - WebLogic
On the App Server, following are installed:
    1. WebLogic Server
    2. soa_server
    These are created in base_domain
Then we installed ODEE and went through the post installation steps which created another instance of
    adminserver (weblogic)
    dmkr_server
    idm_server
    in idocumaker_domain
When I tried to start the dmkr_server from idocumaker_domain, it does not start.
Please comment if they all need to be in the same domain, specially soa_server.
How do we configure the soa_server to work in idocumaker_domain?
Looking for advise as this is the very first time, we are trying to configure the ODEE 12.1 on windows.
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi Andy,
I moved the server components to a windows 2008 server R2 Standard. Initially my colleague started the servers and then I used my credentials to start the Admin server and its failing on a single sign on failure to authenticate from the wallet.

  • Oracle Documaker 12.3 Released

Oracle Documaker 12.3 is now available on the Oracle Support Site and the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.
12.3 Documents are now available on OTN:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51711_01/e51711_01_index.html - Help Systems
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51709_01/e51709_01_index.html - Manuals including the Release Notes at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51709_01/Release_Notes_12.3.pdf

    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52927_01/e52927_01_index.html - Documaker Desktop

Domain Name System (DNS) Resolver Parameters
Two Domain Name System (DNS) resolver parameters (timeout and attempts) are set by default to low values when the operating system is installed. These low values may cause attempted network connections to an Oracle database to fail. If this happens, add or update the following entries to these minimum settings in the /etc/resolv.conf file on each server node:
    options attempts:5
    options timeout:15
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.0 and 4.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and 9
    Verifying Host Names
Use the following to verify host name settings:
For Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.4 and 4.0:
Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    <ip_address> <node_name>.<domain_name>
Verify that the /etc/sysconfig/network file is formatted as follows:
    HOSTNAME=<node_name>.<domain_name>
If the /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/network file exists, remove it.
If you changed any files in the previous steps, restart the system.
Modifying the Number of Open File Descriptors
Open the /etc/security/limits.conf file and change the existing values for "hard" and "soft" parameters as follows. Restart the system after making changes.
For Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.0, 4.0, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9:
    hard nofile 65535
    soft nofile 4096
    Modifying Port Range Values
Open the /etc/sysctl.conf file and change the value of net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range as follows. Restart the system after making changes.
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 10000 65000
Please note that this range is a recommended range, and may need to be adjusted according to the specific needs of the user's environment in order to avoid port conflicts.
    Setting the Environment
Verify that the host name setting is correct. The command should return a fully qualified host name. For example: <host_name>.<domain_name>.
    # hostname
For the hugemem kernel, install rpm setarch-1.0-2 or higher. (For up, smp, and boot kernels, omit this step.) This step is not required for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8.
    # setarch i386
    Completing Preinstallation Tasks
Complete these tasks after you set the environment variables and before you begin the installation steps described in Installing Oracle Applications.
Unset the NLS_LANG environment variable, if it is defined prior to installation.
Apply one of these OS library patches: 4198954 (for Red Hat 4.0) or 3006854 (for Red Hat 3.0). You can download these patches from OracleMetaLink.
    Restart your system.
    groupadd dba
    useradd -g dba appltest
    useradd -g dba oratest
    Completing Postinstallation Tasks
After the installation is complete, perform the following tasks in addition to the ones described in Installing Oracle Applications:
Apply patch 4632932 to all the application tiers, then re-source the applications environment file to refresh the environment variables. This patch is required for setting the values for LD_ASSUME_KERNEL and LD_PRELOAD.
Should be missing kernel parameters and some other utilities like ar,make, gcc etc
    Thanks,
    SM

    Hi,
Please can someone help me to get the Patch 4198954. Why don't you download it from MOS website? I believe no one is supposed to download the patch from MOS and send it to you by email as this violates Oracle support agreement policy.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

    Hi Gaétan/Experts,
Thanks for the post, we are now able to successfully perform the following :-
    1. Configure Documaker Connector - After changing lot of values that was provided in the Installation Guide, which seems to be outdated. For E.g. While using SQL Server Driver, the document says we need to configure the Connection as jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver, where as the code looks for the string jdbc:sqlserver.
    2. Successfully insert the values to AOR table in SQL Server.
    3. Sucessfully run the connector with mock-file-conn-properties, which creates the documents generated thru Oracle Documaker to the specified destination directory.
    Issue:_
    1. While using the UCM Destination, we are encountering an error which is pasted below.
    2. In UCM we are able to create a new document and sucessfully check in using the credentials. The same used thru Connector throws an error.
    3. We are using Oracle UCM - 11.1.1.5.

  • Install Windows Server 2012 R2 VM on Storage Spaces with Storage Tiers

    Hey guys
In my small/medium sized company we will soon update to Windows Server 2012 R2. I would like to implement virtual servers using Hyper-V. I didn't find a lot of information about Hyper-V in combination with storages spaces and autoamted storage tiers.
And this is very confusing to me as it seems to me that this would be the best practice as it is the most cost-efficient and most elegant solution.
    My ideal scenario:
With Hyper-V I virtualize two Windows Server 2012 R2 instances. So two separate virtual machines.
I use the following disk setup:
    1x cheap HDD  40GB for hyper-v server 2012 r2 core.
    2x SSD 200GB (enterprise-grade)
    2x HDD 4TB (7.2k, enterprise-grade)
    Step 1:
I will install Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 Core on the 40GB HDD. Via command line, I will create a storage pool with automated tiered storage using the SSDs and the HDDs in mirrored mode the following way:
With Tiered Storage, I create a storage pool containing the SSDs and the HDDs. Then I create storage space A (1TB) and B (3.2TB) with the SSDs in a mirrored setup and the HDDs in a mirrored setup. The SSDs for the „hot files“ and the HDDs for the „cold files“.
    Step2:
Ontop of the storage space A I want to install the first Windows Server 2012 R2 instance with Active directory. On storage space B I want to install the second Windows Server 2012 R2 instance for a business application to run on it.
    Conclusion:
The SSDs are mirrored and therefore one SSD can fail.
The 4TB HDDs are mirrored and therefore one HDD can fail.
I have a fast and easy scalable environment.
But in the Internet I found many information that it’s not possible to install an operating system onto a storage tier.
    Question 1:
    Is this setup possible?
    Question 2:
If this setup is possible, why is not everyone doing it?
    Question 3:
Is it possible to do Step 1 over a GUI from a remote machine?
    Question 4:
If the creation of Storage Tiers in the Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 is not possible. Would it work to use a Windows Server 2012 R2 as a parent system on the 40GB HDD? To do Step 1?
I would gladly get some feedback of people knowing Storage Tiers well.
    Thanks a lot!

I would absolutely prefer a GUI. But a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Licence allows you to run two VM machines.
It also grants you a physical installation ("POSE" in the licensing documents). You can buy one copy of WS2012R2 Standard, install it on the hardware, enable Hyper-V, and then operate two virtual machines with WS2012R2 Standard ("VOSE"
in the licensing documents). The only restriction is that the management operating system (POSE) can only run services and applications meant to manage the virtual machines and/or the management operating system. The Hyper-V Server license is the same way
so it's not really any different.
In short, given the benefits of the GUI at your stage of learning, you have no solid reason not to install the full system and take advantage of it. You can disable the GUI later once you get your footing. Or not. Whatever suits you. However, in response
to your Question 3, you can do this all remotely. Once you get WS2012R2 installed in a guest, you can use it to manage the management operating system if you want. There are many options.
But then I would also need to have redundancy on the 40GB HDD as if this HDD brakes, all others brake as well?
Yes, you're going to want some redundancy for the management operating system. But, you've listed 5 drives in your original layout. You don't really have a 5-bay system, do you? Is there an empty sixth bay? Could you not get two 40 GB drives instead of one
    and use hardware RAID-1?

  • Logical OR with XPaths in Documaker 12.1

Is there a way we could provide a logical OR condition within Xpath Getdata DAL?
In the below case, we would need to retrieve the FormNumber value for SortOrder 18 or 19.
    FormNumber= GetData( "!/Request/XmlTransaction/Quote/Product/Location/Form[PrintIn='Y'][SortOrder=18]/FormNumber 1,255");

    Hi,
If it is Linux or Solaris the Word attachment to the document should work out-of-the-box with configuration. For AIX the Oracle Outside In Image Export runtime component that converts the documents for most document types (except for specific types of TIFF) needs a X11 DISPLAY context with user authorization for which to run the rule in because that what it uses to do the conversion to an image.
Is this AIX you are trying to do this on? If so the ODEE installer for 12.1.x sets a DISPLAY variable in the docfactory.sh startup script in a section for that platform that you would have use to point to a X11 Motif or Lesstif DISPLAY (e.g. my.server.com:2) that has a running X11 server. VNC server option will work also so that the system can remain headless.
I thought that the Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition document covers this requirement under its attachments notes, not sure.
See documentation on Oracle Outside In Image Export for supported documents it can handle and platforms.
I am not sure if the version Oracle Documaker uses but here is a document reference for v8.3.5 for the Unix particulars, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14154_01/dev.835/e12885/c03_unix.htm .
SCCOPT_RENDERING_PREFER_OIT settings referenced in the above document is only option on Solaris SPARC and Linux x86_32 platforms according to the Oracle Outside In Image Export Developer's Guide for v8.3.5 (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14154_01/dev.835/e12885.pdf).

  • Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine

    Hi Experts,
We are trying to install Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine. The installation is successful, however we aren't able to invoke Documaker Studio. It just gives the below error message:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect".
Has any one come across or any suggestions on solving this issue?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Could be you are missing the installation pre-reqs, the MSVC++ 2008 redistributable installation in particular.
