Documaker Studio field justification.

I have a need to center the contents of a field defined on a FAP. I can not fine how to accomplish this. Our Forms Composition department says the centering of a field can not be done. Any help would be appreciated.

If the variable field is placed in text area, then it is very simple
a) Select the variable field in text area
b) Right click, goto Format->Paragraph. this will give you options to left/right/center aligniment
If the variable field is not placed in the text area then you can use the Justfld rule with the MODE parameter like below
Rule - JustFLd
Data - !/insurance/car/type MODE=R, RULE=MOVE_IT, XPOS=8900

Hi,
Is there any way to put Check Box to the document created in Documaker Studio (12.1)? I look through documentation and found only field format:
m - Accepts an X or a space (used for a check box)
But not any reference how to insert check box to the document.

Hi Sergey,
If all you need is an actual check box on a document, insert a text label or text area that uses one of the DocuDings font items, and input an "o". It will render as a nice box.

How Documaker Studio 12.0 - compares with other tools - like HP EXSTREAM

Hello Experts !
I am trying to find a comparison document between latest versions of Documaker Studio 12.0 & HP Exstream.
I had worked on Documaker 10.2 for several past years, but has been working on HP exstream in Recent years.
I am trying to understand what has changed in Documaker 10.2 to Documaker Studio, so that I can work on Studio - mostly for batch Application. I have gone through most of the Docs for Documaker Studio, & understand the BASE product which works on the back ground RUN TIME process has not changed a lot for batch processing at least. I understand that GUI is totally different, with various additional features for versioning, check out, checkin etc.
Also I am trying to compare DOcumaker Studio with HP Exstream, with which I have now about 4 years recent experience..

Pretend I have a ParagraphList with 4 paragraph choices. In two of those paragraph choices, I need each of them to have another 2 paragraph choices EACH.
So I know that you can't insert more MLT fields in paragraphs. Because of this, I don't think I'll be able to use PSL's and PAR's if I have multi level selections. Can anyone verify that this is correct? or am I missing something?
Since I will need a table selection for multiple sections, and those sections needs to be able to call additional tables for for more sections, I'm thinking TERSUB is probably my best bet. This could go on for three or so levels.
Any inputs? thanks.

Creating checks in Documaker Studio

Hi all, we're looking at creating checks using Documaker Studio. I see that the MICR font used to print the routing/account numbers on the check is included in Documaker. My question involves the special characters printed with these numbers. Is there some set up we need to do that will automatically generate these? I don't see anyway to insert them ourselves.

Hi Daniel,
You need to create the static portion of the MICR line using text labels. The static portion of the MICR line usually includes the bank, transit, account and cheque numbers. You may be required to also add the cheque amount on the MICR line, so that would be created using a regular field using the MICR font.
The crucial part of the process is the correct placement of the line on the cheque: it has to be in a specific location with some "white" space around it.White space means that nothing is laser-printed in that area, as all toners are magnetically applied to the cheque.
Your financial instituition can either provide you with the exact specs or point you in the right direction.

Documaker Studio 11.5.3 - New Overflow Options

Has anyone had any luck with the new overflow options for Print Control (Not First, Last Only, etc.) in DM Studio 11.5? I can't seem to get them to work, and I'm assuming I'm missing either an INI setting or updated afgjob rule.

We are using Oracle Documaker Studio 11.5.3.509 Build May 2011. The print controls which you have stated having been working fine in our forms. We did not add any thing new to make this work either in Afgjob or in the ini files.

Problem getting DocuMaker Studio to Load

I have DocuMaker Studio 11.5.
When I start Studio, it takes at least 15 minutes to load. And once Studio is loaded, it takes a couple of minutes everytime I click on something. Studio was running fine until a couple of days ago.
We tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. Without success.
Anyone ever heard of this problem? And know how to fix it?

There shouldn't be anything with DMStudio that will cause this to happen, but a few more answers may help.
Does the problem occur when opening DMStudio, or when opening DMStudio with a workspace? Or is it once you have Studio opened and then open a workspace?
What are you using for your library - codebase, Oracle, DB2, SQL?
Do you have DMStudio installed on your workstation, or are you opening the EXE from a remote server?
Are you using any remote connection software, such as Citrix, to open a desktop in another location?
Is the library located in your physical location, or are you connecting to a server in a remote location?
If the library is in a database has any updates been applied to that?
Have you performed any updates to your workstation recently?
What patch release of 11.5 are you using?
Does this same problem happen from all workstations being used to open a workspace in DMStudio?
How long has this workspace been active?
Have you performed any major changes to the workspace recently?
Does the same problem occur if you create a new workspace and try to work in that?
How many library components are showing (including all versions and all revisions)?
The more background you can provide, the better chance we have of providing a solution.

2. The environment you are using.
3. What investigations you have performed, with results.
4. What changes have been made to your environment

We are trying to integrate these two tools but it is not going through. Oracle documentation is also not very supportive. Any one tried this till now?

I got one Group as 'Any_TestXML' , FORM as 'TESTXMF' , Section as 'TESTXM'.
The triggering condition at FormList (Group Level) is

You are attempting to use a XML structure that is documented in the Documaker XML Guide for the XML Import configuration of Documaker not the rules processor configuration. Your AFGJOB and INI files indicate that you are trying to use the rule processor configuration.
The XML Import style of XML requires you to use the structure where you specify the tags for specific use shown below under *****XML IMPORT EXAMPLE **** file. While this is valid XML and will work, it is probably the most restrictive XML design. The intent of the Import XML implementation is to make Documaker a dumb print engine - you tell it exactly what you want to include in the final output. The documentation clearly states the following on the chapter of the XML Guide that is labeled Importing and Exporting XML Files with Documaker Server.

It is the least flexible and requires the person deigning the forms to also understand the data structure, it cannot take advantage of any of the rule processing (RP) features that make the product worth the $$ that customers spend on it.
Documaker can use any well formed XML file (it can be successfully opened in a browser is the simplest test). You really should not mix and match the AFGJOB IfRecipUsed and the batching by recip rules - they are not intended to be a mix you are missing the AFGJOB rules that invoke batching by recip: ;BatchingByRecipINI;2;; and optionally ;BatchingByPageCountPerRecipINI;;;.
There are only three possibly two fields that you need to have consistent to use Documaker in the RP configuration: Key1, Key2 and KeyID. The Key1 and Key2 drive the group selection you can omit one if you only have one group - KeyID is used as the transction ID to track the transaction in the system (consider if there is an error). I would suggest that you possibly use sample MRLS that are available the Oracle Delivery Cloud (https://edelivery.oracle.com/EPD/Download/get_form?egroup_aru_number=15238196) part number V33403-01 as a example the DMS1 sample is fully running and may give you some better insight into how to implement.

NLS_LANG Documaker Studio Setup

Hi,
I'm trying to configure a ODBC connection link with my DMStudio Project. the fact is that Windows ODBC connection with the Instant Cliente 11.2 is working and connecting when is set up on Windows ODBC manager. Connection is succesfull. But, when I'm going to start a new project with this same ODBC DMStudio dosen't connect. An error message is shown saying "Internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load". I've saw some post about initiating the NLS_LANG enviroment variable but hasen't worked.
Some facts of the enviroment:
To make this connection I have to go through a VPN connection.
ODBC was tested as System and User ODBC and had same results.

Here's something you can try that might allow you to create workspaces using the Oracle ODBC connection.
- Make sure you have a valid NLS_LANG environment setting (e.g. NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252)
- Copy the \nls\data subdirectory from the Documaker executable directory to your Oracle client directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Oracle\instantclient_11_2\nls\data or c:\Oracle\instantclient_11_2\nls\data).
Having a valid NLS_LANG environment and the Oracle NLS data files beneath the ORACLE_HOME directory will allow the Oracle NLS DLLs to initialize properly and should avoid causing problems for the Oracle ODBC connection.

Print Information on Banner Page - Documaker 12.1

Below is my scenario.
Environment/Setup
We are using Documaker Studio 12.1 and WIPEdit Plug to let our users interact with the Forms. The upstream application passes an XML with the required data to be printed on the Form. During the day time, the Users processes transactions and the transactions are processed via batch (batch by page count) overnight.
Issue
We are trying to come up with the best possible way to do the following.
>> While Batch Processing, if the total number of pages in the transaction is between 10 and 20, we should pull a cover page.
>> On the coverage page, the recipient details should be populated (which is part of the transaction XML).

Two options come to mind, although one may be better than the other depending upon how much information you are talking about.
If the recipient details you refer to is not already mapped onto your forms somewhere, you could add a hidden section that would have fields that do map that data. That way the information is there for you to draw from using DAL to populate your banner/cover page just prior to print. Making a hidden section is easy enough: Just create one with all the relevant field mappings and then add it to the primary form and check the "hidden" box in the attributes. You could actually make a separate form that is triggered and hidden if you would rather not add a hidden section to an existing form.
By mapping this data into fields - hidden or not - DAL can be used to reference these fields and transfer the content to the cover page in the banner function. Also, doing this hidden method will mean the content is available even if the transaction is kicked to WIP and later resubmitted for completion in batch. The user won't see the hidden content and it will be returned with the document after the session completes.
The other method you might use is if you are primarily limiting the situation to just batch and there are not a lot of fields associated with this recipient detail. In this case, you could add the necessary fields to your RCBDFDFL.DFD and simply map the content to the batch records. Then the print operation can be made to pull the information (using DAL again) from the GVMs that are made available from the batch record.

Gendata error when using MessageFromExtr rule on a field in one of the FAP

This is the error:
Error in RULLoadFASR(): Unable to locate Form Grouping identified by <;;;;>.
Tip: At least one Group (GRP) in the BDF needs to reference a Group1;Group2;Group3 value of <;;;;>.
There are also other errors. But this was the first.
While Gentran runs very fine, gendata gives errors. To say this happens only while using MessageFromExtr rule on a field in one of the FAP. The same BDF file works good when I use Move_it or some other rule.
The .FAP file looks like this for only the field maapings. Using Studio Version of Oracle Documaker Studio.

The Key1 and Key2 table are already updated. This happens when using MessageFromExtr rule.
Also, in the extract file I am having some value in the tag "<J:L>TextMessage". As this rule supports <J:L> it should print teh text message on the field, but it gives error unable to retrieve record and other.

Studio 12.0, how to create dynamic sections to use in Workstation?

I come from the 11.X world and I've worked mostly with Sections. I haven't worked with Paragraphs even in 11.X. I got a project coming up that requires 12.0 and want to get my feet wet by asking a question about how to construct what will need to be done.
This corr system will be working with Workstation. What I'm trying to do is allow the user to select from either a choice (A or B, Y or N), or a checkbox list (where they can pick more then one), and based on the selected choices, either one or many sections will populate the form and the user can interact with the newly appended sections.
What's the best way to go about this?
I'm looking at the "Documaker Studio User Guide, version 12.0", chapter 6. On page 252, "Creating Paragraph Lists", and this sounds like what I'll need to do. I would then click on the "Select One" checkbox when creating a multiline field to append these 'paragrahs' into.
Right now I'm just trying to get an early feel to what my options are as far as doing what I need. I feel I'm on the right track but was wondering if there are other options available.

Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine

Hi Experts,
We are trying to install Documaker 11.5 in Window 7 - 64 bit machine. The installation is successful, however we aren't able to invoke Documaker Studio. It just gives the below error message:
"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect".
Has any one come across or any suggestions on solving this issue?

Your custom wrapper shell script does not have a path for all the JRE primary JVM shared object (libjvm.so) and also all supporting shared objects needed to load the JRE. It is not clear what UNIX flavor this is because you have mix of library path environment variables from different OSs, e.g. LIBPATH is for AIX but LD_LIBRARY_PATH is for Linux and Solaris.
You need multiple entries to the appropriate platform directories of the 32-bit JRE so that all the supporting shared objects are in the library path.
Example:
For AIX it should include the JRE 32-bit subdirectories:
     $JRE_HOME/lib/ppc/classic:$JRE_HOME/lib:.$JRE_HOME/lib/ppc
For Linux x86 it should include the JRE 32-bit subdirectories:
     $JRE_HOME/lib/i386/server:$JRE_HOME/lib:$JRE_HOME/lib/i386/server
For Solaris (SPARC) it should include the JRE 32-bit subdirectories:
     $JRE_HOME/lib/sparc/server:$JRE_HOME/lib:$JRE_HOME/lib/sparc
