Document cannot be opened from iCloud

I seem to be having an issue with documents saved in iCloud.
Thing is its not every document & it seems to be random.
I use Pages for all of my invoicing & quotes & i always save them in iCloud so i have access on my iPad & iPhone as well as my Mac
I have today finished a quote & an invoice both from the Pages app on my Macbook Pro which i saved into iCloud as i always do
This was a couple of hours ago i have just tried to open the invoice on my iPad & i get a message "Document Can't be opened" i also get this mesage on my iPhone too
On my Mac in the pages app i now get "********* invoice" could'nt be opened
I have now also tried to open this from iCloud.com also but i now get this
Thing is i have the latest version of Pages installed on all my devices.
I have printed a copy of this when i wrote the invoice but i now need to add something to it & e mail it to the customer.
The only way to do this now is to rewrite the whole invoice as i cannot open it at all on any device, I have noticed that i can quick veiw them from the iCloud folder from within the app but the documents that now wont open i cannot ive also just tried to use the open recent from the file menu the document now has added -tef to the end of the title this cold be relevant.
As you can imagine i really could do with finding a way to get back recover or just be able to open the documents this has affected.

My girlfriend's sister is having the same problem. We managed to get the pages file onto a PC to have a look and it's a folder called "name.pages-tef"
Inside the folder are the following:
If I open the index.db file with a text editor, I can see the text but it's surrounded by gobbledygook code.
Any help would be much appreciated as it's 3 months worth of notes apparently. If you try and share it as Pages file, PDF or Word from the Pages app on iPad where it is or from iCloud, it fails. Literally just need to be able to print this so she can get her notes back.

Hi,
so I have multiple documents in my iCloud for all iWorks programs.
One numbers file however will no longer open or download.
If I try to open it on my MBPr I get the following error
"The document could not be opened"
If I try to copy it onto my desktop I get the following error
"cannot be converted. Please install a newer version of iWork."
* mind you all my software is up to date.
If I try to open it on my iOS device I get the following error
"Spreadsheet can't be opened."
And last but not least if I try to open it via iCloud.com
no matter what format I choose to download
I can see the thumbnail, but I just cannot get the damned thing to open.
any other ideas what I might try? anyone?

Some documents cannot be downloaded from iCloud?

I have an amount of Pages documents syncing between my iphone and icloud, which so far has worked.But I read about people, who lost all their work in cyberspace, and as I have experienced that situation with wifi syncing earlier , I want to download a copy af my iwork documents from Icloud to my Macbook in order to keep an extra backup every now and then. How come I can only download some of my documents, for others the download possibility is inactive? I have found out, that it changes, if i open the documents one by one on my iphone, but that is really a very annoying way to go...
Does any easier way exist to make all documents downloadable?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
As you've already worked out you need to open the documents on an iOS device after uploading them from your mac desktop.
The simple answer here is don't delete them from your mac after uploading them, you shouldn't rely on cloud storage as a back up, in fact if you don't already keep a back up can I suggest you get yourself an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or another back up utility. Data loss is often sudden and unexpected and far too late to do anything about in many cases.
If it becomes absolutely necessary you can also recover documents from your iOS device by saving them to iTunes, Emailing them etc etc.

I am trying to get my Amex statement from Amex on my tablet. I have Adobe reader for Andriod and Pdf to Go. Each time I download and tray to read the document I get this error. Other Pdf files I have downloaded open OK.

I suspect you have created the documnet's in Pages 08 or earlier. Do you have the iWork 08 DVD so you can install it? Then update to from this link Pages 08 3.0.3 Use it for you older documents and use Pages 5 only for new documents.

Why does it say my event is already open with the same identifier so the second document cannot be opened?

I have been working for 7 hours today on a major 3-month project. Everything was okay until I closed it and tried to open it. I received this error:

not sure what it wants me to do.
When i hit ok EVERY event is gone. all projects say missing event. Even the two I'm not working on. I'm so frustrated I've thought about starting the project over in 7 but I want to stick with it.
I work for a university and have not been able to find help, even from my boss. The only thing I have found to fix it is to dismount the drive (mediasan4) and then remount it and it reconnects everything. But this can't be a good way to work. There are no duplicate events anywhere. there IS for some reason a duplicate mediasan4 drive in the project library, but not under the events library. I have been working in one and everytime I make an edit to my projects in there it makes the changes to the other one. I cannot find a way to delete it. We just reinstalled fcpx a few days ago.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Oh yea sorry about that, but yes sir, I sure am. The SAN not the drive. I have tried renaming the event as well. Thanks for checking though.

I have recently created a pdf document in "Expert PDF 7" from "Avanquest". I have inserted certain fields which needs to be completed by the reader for example name, surname etc.
On my desktop, using Windows 7 and Adobe Reader X it works perfectly but, when using my iPad 3 and Adobe Reader it stalls. I can enter the first field but, as soon as I move to the next field the following error appears; "This document cannot be opened because it is corrupted or damaged."
Can someone please assist?

Unfortunately, the file cannot be recovered. Also, it would be difficult to ascertain the reason that led to this issue. There was an issue with the previous versions of Adobe Reader that led to some Acrobat.com documents to be corrupted which is fixed in the latest version. Request you to update Adobe Reader to the latest version(11.7.0) available on the Play Store where you won't encounter the issue again.

I have a similar problem. I upgrated to Maverick a couple weeks ago and at that time I saw a very different appearance to my Pages documents, especially my book lists. Numbers appeared at the left side of the pages. All seemed well. Now the last few times I've tried to open those documents, I get the message that "YOU NEED A NEWER VERSION OF PAGES TO OPEN THIS DOCUMENT. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE LATEST VERSION OF PAGES FROM THE MAC APP STORE". I can't figure out how or why the version reverted back to the way it was. That message doesn't always come though. Some documents I can open but some I can't open at all. If I click LEARN MORE, I am directed to the APP STORE where I can buy Pages 5.0.1 for $19.99!!!!! What the heck is going on????? Am I going to have to pay for pages where Maverick was FREE.

I cannot download photos from icloud to my laptop.

OS is win7 and I have installed icloud control panel 4.0. All other data, e.g. contacts, tasks and files, can synchronise with icloud. But I cannot download photos from icloud.

I added some photos to My Photo Stream on my Windows PC, but they don't appear in the Recently Added album or My Photo Stream album on any of my devices.
To see if your computer and other devices are online, try to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, iCloud Photos can't send or receive updates from My Photo Stream. You might need to troubleshoot your Internet connection on your PC, Mac, or iOS devices.
On your computer, open iCloud for Windows 4.0 (or iCloud Control Panel) and make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.
In Windows 8, go to the Start screen, and click the iCloud tile.

Docs not opening from iCloud

Today, I launched Pages from my desktop machine (Mac Mini) and tried to open docs from iCloud and nothing happened, no sign of processing or activity. When I go to "open" I see the docs in iCloud (and I can toggle to my local drive). They all look in sync to what I had on my iPad. In desperation I copied and then dragged a file to my desktop and was able to open it from there.
Then I tried to go to iCloud through Safari and was told my password needed to be reset. Just to be sure, I went to my iPhone and updated an app, causing it to force me to enter my Apple ID password and the OLD password worked, no message of needing to reset.
Then I came to discusssions.apple.com to query, and lo and behold, I had to reset my password here. Which I did and now have to change it everywhere else. But I still cannot open any files on Pages on my desktop that are on iCloud, even though Pages asked me to re-enter my password for access.
Also out of desperation I wound up working on the Pages doc I had on my desktop machine in MS Word....(yuck!)

Really surprised there was no response from the community on that one, but not a big deal. I just had to reset passwords all over the place.
But now I've got some other weirdness, possibly iCloud related. I did a repair permissions and Pages was able to open docs from iCloud. But now it's happening again. I can't open from iCloud and I tried downloading from iCloud through a browser but Pages still won't open the docs. I decided to try signing out of iCloud and that just sucked up all processes, system ground to a halt while signing out was supposedly going on. I had to force quit everythig else and still it didnt complete signing out. I was able to restart
But now i have to reauthenticate with iCloud and its another 15 minutes gettig everything back in sync. This is miserable. I was able to open a Pages doc finally. :(

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

You need to return it to the seller and get your money back. You cannot reset or use the device with another AppleID installed unless you know the password for that ID.
If the device has been jailbroken, no one on here can give you any further help...the Terms of Use prohibit us from doing so.

Does your iPhone 5 IOS is later than iPhone 6 IOS?
If true, you need to update your iPhone 6 before you can restore from your backup.
If not, is iPhone 6 connected to power supply?

You are correct, you cannot delete songs from iTunes in the Cloud. This is where all of your purchases are permanently stored so if you want to re-download something you can. Sometimes purchases will no longer be available, if the merchant pulls them from the iTunes store, but for the most part, all of your past purchases will remain in iTunes in the Cloud.
This has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes Match.
What is the issue you are experiencing?
