Document changes once saved?
My wife is working on a school project and she copied and pasted a template from her teacher into "pages". It has numbered bullets and broken into paragraphs. Anyway, it looks good when pasted and everything is lined up correct. Well after saving it as a word document and reopening it everything is shifted. For example, it should look like this...
1. The boy ran. But instead it looks like this...
1. The boy ran.
Also, when she attaches the file and posts it to her online class it shows the .doc but wont open. It just looks like normal text, not a link.
Any ideas? We've only owned a mac for 3 days now.

Tabs will show up as little blue arrows between the text.
It sounds very much like extra tabs in the text, without the necessary tab set on the ruler to catch them. Either that or the tab is set so close to the number that the 2. is wider than the gap so it jumps to the far right.
The formatting is not complicated, it should have survived the save to .doc format.

I'm not following this. What looks like what, where?
Is it just appearing as text within the email, the website, or what?

Please verify from the event log (txn SWEL, use txn SWELS to activate event log) that the FIPP.Created event is being published when you park a document. If not, you need to perform some IMG activity. Please see OSS Note 548278.

Gif animation k changes once saved
When I "save for web" a gif animation in photoshop its optimized at 72k. I then check it in file manager and its 102k???!!!
1. Project settings = Standard 48khz NTSC Preset
2. Clip looks dim in both source monitor and preview monitor
(with the alpha turned off and interlace consecutive frames turned on the source video stays dimmed, but the preview frame becomes bright as it should look)
3. If I just start a project , import the video and export to a new movie clip the new exported movie clip gets dimmed even when viewing in media player, only if I do the alpha turned off and interlace consecutive frames trick can I get the exported clip to look normal/undimmed in media player.
4. Yes origianl animation clip has the same framerate and pixel dimensions of the project. I am not altering any speed timing. -

Which operating system and version of photoshop cs6 are you using?
You can find out the exact photoshop cs6 version by going to Help>System Info from within photoshop and looking at the very first line that says Photoshop Version. -
How InDesign comes to know about any changes on document, but not saved. As it shows * on the name of document when it is opened and any changes.
And after saving * symbol is get removed from the name of document. How and where indesign@ handles this?Are you just asking because you want to know, or do you have a problem you need to solve? I don't know how to write a program, but I think what your are describing is not an unusual thing for a program to do. The * tells you that changes have been made since the last save, and the program reserves a portion of memory for undo functions. I suppose a coder could tell you how it works, but I don't think it would help an average user to know, but that's just my opinion.

Documents in Firefox format do not open automatically in the preview pane. Why? Also, I don't want my documents changed from the original format. How do I change them back and how do I keep this from happening again. I don't want to have to select a different format every time I try to open a document. That is a pain in the neck. I want to "click to open" and the document be in it's original format. If necessary I will go back to one of the other browsers I have used in the past. As I don't want multiple browsers on my computer it would be necessary to uninstall Firefox. I like it so far other than you all hijacking my documents and altering the way they open. You also might want to remember that even the "legitimate" folks on the internet are seen as predatory, i.e., gathering information, tricking us into installing crap we don't want or need, and in some cases, requiring a specific program to open a specific document. I'd be working very hard to show you are trustworthy. If you have a solution to this and it is complex then you will be wasting your time and my time trying to explain it. You guys created this so, if I'm going to use Firefox, you fix it on your end. FYI, if I have to uninstall Firefox I will, when asked, strongly recommend against using your service. Thank you.
Do you mean PDF documents?
The installer was supposed to add Firefox as an ADDITIONAL viewer for PDFs, not as the DEFAULT viewer. Sorry you were affected by this glitch and hopefully they will figure out why some systems get changed this way.
You can try this fix suggested by a user in another thread:
# Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat*
# Edit->Preferences
# In the Categories column click 'General'
# Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
# In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
# A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.

This is the issue which I am facing while working with SharePoint 2010. In a sharePoint 2010 document library I am having an excel file and I am trying to open it from Windows 7 and is office 2010.

Go to Resource Policies > Web >
Rewriting > Custom Headers > (if 'Custom Headers' is not visible, click
Customize on the right top to enable the view).
Create a new policy with the Resource as <fully qualified domain name of the SharePoint server:*/*> (for example https://sharepoint.juniper.net:*/* ).
Create the action as Allow Custom Headers.
Apply the settings to the required roles.

All things you have to do is as follows:
1. Open regedit.exe
2. Naviagate to following key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet]
3. Click Edit Menu -> New -> DWORD with name of "FSSHTTPOff"
(without quotes)
4. Click on "FSSHTTPOff" and enter value of 1
5.
Close any Office Applications and browser sessions
6. Try to reopen your document (no more read only or failure to upload)

Documents must be saved before they can be merged - PS CS6
I'm getting a "Documents must be saved before they can be merged" error message while trying to auto stitch panos in PS CS6. As always, I've copied and imported images into LR5, then select images and "edit images in>PS CS6". From there go to Automate>Photomerge and "add open images", which produces the error message.
Until two days ago I've had no problems merging panos using this process. I had not made any changes to my system when this problem started occurring. Since then I have installed Mac and Adobe updates hoping to resolve the issue with no luck.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

CS5 indd files occasionally change after saving and reopening
Occasionally the contents of my InDesign document will change after saving and re-opening. No errors reported during the save however when the file is opened a text box may be out of place or leading may be messed-up on a few random pages or some of the recent changes may not have been saved. Any ideas?
There was no direct indication that you created the code in a standard module. I asked because you reported that the code works in the sample workbook that you downloaded but not in your own workbook.
I don't know what else to suggest at the moment.
Could you create a stripped-down copy of the workbook (without sensitive information) and make it available through one of the websites that let you upload and share a file, such as Windows Live SkyDrive (https://skydrive.live.com),
FileDropper (http://filedropper.com) or DropBox (http://www.dropbox.com). Then post a link to the uploaded and shared file here.
Or register at www.eileenslounge.com (it's free) and post a message in the Excel forum. You can attach files up to 250 KB to a post there (zipped if necessary).

Changes not saved in any transport...
Hi,
This is a basic question and I tried to search in the forum and google but could not find any answers. Help is appreciated.
There is an existing message mapping in PI 7.1 and I changed the assignment of two nodes. I saved and activated the change list.
But there was no prompt for a transport !! So my question is how and where will my change be saved in the DEV system which will then be transported to QA.
Any settings to be done by the BASIS / ADMIN ? Pl advise.

I think I have done it correctly but its a bit different from what you are saying...
From Tools menu I chose Export Design objects and then it chose the S/w component that I was
modifying and There were 2 modes, Transport using CTS and Transport using file system and I chose CTS.
In next step of the wizard I chose " All objects of the SW component...." and then in next it created
me a transport request and then it was done. I could see a preview of the different objects
that were included in that transport.
I could see this transprt created thru menu option, Tools --> Open CTS...
Is that all ?? So once I am done and release this transport, it will be movied to QA right ?
Just want to make sure I dont mess up the existing set up !!

I have used Image Capture to scan images/documents and then saved them as either PDFs or PNG files. For some reason, just this past week, Image Capture will no longer save the file. It scans, and the Scan Results window pops up, but it won't save file.
The file name has no special character in it, just letters and no spaces.
I have done this in the past and it has worked, but now it will not.
I have not upgraded any software, that I am aware of.
After scanning, the Image Capture pops up the Scan Results with the file name in the window, but neither the Scan Results nor the Image Capture window responds to inputs. The Image Capture window is frozen, with only the "Overview" and "Cancel" buttons active (but non-responsive).
Is this a software issue or a scanner hardware issue? I am using a HP Photosmart C6200 series printer/scanner on a network using a Time Capsule airport.

Got a 90% fix. Apparently the Mavericks preferences won't work with Yosemite, so I just deleted the Image Capture preferences.
Unfortunately, the "Scan to" folder seems to be permanently set to the Pictures folder.
1. Quit Image Capture
2. Go to Finder > Go > Home, which opens up your home folder (named after your user name)
3. Open Library > Preferences > com.apple.ImageCapture.plist - Drag this file to the Trash
4. Start "Image Capture", click "Details" and change all your settings as you prefer
5. Quit and restart "Image Capture". Notice it remembers all your settings except "Scan to" folder. It insists on saving to "Pictures".
That's as far as I was successful. I tried changing the "Scan to" folder to "Desktop", but on launch, Image Capture always sets it back to "Pictures".
This is what I tried:
6. Download and install "Pref Setter" from http://www.nightproductions.net/prefsetter.html
7. Quit "Image Capture". Right-click on "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist" and open with Pref Setter.
8. Search for "Pictures", which finds "~/Pictures" (the tilde character at the start means your home directory).
9. Double-click on "~/Pictures" and change it to the folder you prefer. I like "~/Desktop"
10. Choose File > Save then Quit from Pref Setter. Note that re-opening the plist file still shows "~/Desktop"
11. Start up "Image Capture" -- on startup, "Image Capture" sets "Scan to" folder to "Pictures"
I consider this a bug. -

Office 2010 upload manager is designed to work with Sharepoint 2010 not reverse.
But this is how you fix the tool to work with Sharepoint 2007.
IIS 6.0 Do this
Go to the site on each server if you are a farmed environment.
Locate the Web Application supporting the site and add a custom header to the site.
Add the primary url of the site into the custom headers,
http://site.name.com
and click ok.
No need to restart IIS and it will not impact your services.
IIS 7.0 do this
To resolve the issue, perform the following procedure:
Go to Resource Policies > Web >
Rewriting > Custom Headers > (if 'Custom Headers' is not visible, click
Customize on the right top to enable the view).
Create a new policy with the Resource as <fully qualified domain name of the SharePoint server:*/*> (for example https://sharepoint.juniper.net:*/* ).
Create the action as Allow Custom Headers.
Apply the settings to the required roles.
Note: - This does not interrupt any functionality of the same server, as it just allows Custom Headers, if any, for any request towards this server. -
AppleWorks documents are being saved automatically as Unix files. How?
Working on a G3 iBook with OS X (10.3), all AppleWorks documents are being saved as Unix Executable Files by the program despite the dialogue box saying they will be saved as Appleworks documents complete with ".cwk".
After a while of successfully opening these files via Get Info/ Open As, AppleWorks itself refuses to open up and I have to reload Appleworks onto the computer from disk for another brief lifespan.
Ideas? Help please.

The files aren't actually saved as Unix executables, your system just thinks they are. I find this kind of file confusion often occurs if permissions aren't repaired using Disk Utility after a system update.
You can "re-teach" your system what program opens those files. Click a known AppleWorks document in the Finder to highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose AppleWorks 6. If AppleWorks 6 is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the AppleWorks 6 application. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with AppleWorks 6. -
I have an older iMac, OS 10.2.8. I will soon get a new laptop, but in the meantime, I'm having trouble in that it intermittently does not save my changes. I have given the save command, and it closes without asking if I want to save changes, but when I open the document, the saved changes are not there. I cannot figure out why this does or does not happen. Since I am working on my daughter's wedding (1 1/2 weeks away!), these lists, programs, etc. are really important. Help!

Xcel documents that once opened will not and i get an error message "the file may be read only or you may be trying to access a read only application. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding"
Without at least knowing the version of MS Office you're using it may be a little difficult. One thing you can check are the permissions of the files, select a file in Finder then select Command I (that's I as in Ivan) and look at the permissions. If necessary change the permissions.
