Document could not be printed - no pages selected

I attempted to print a range of pages of a pdf document. Acrobat says the document could not be printed because there were no pages selected to print. This was not true. I was able to print a range of pages from Apple Preview, so that means the file is OK. Therefore, Acrobat Pro has a bug. I am using Yosemite on my iMac, with Acrobat XI.

Hi -
Maybe this will help others get around or solve this issue. I was trying to print a 67MB PDF created in INDD (similar to others created and printed that day) and got the same messages as other posters:
Document could not be printed
There were no pages selected to print (even though All was selected)
I updated to 11.0.10 and continued to get these messages.
Ultimately Distiller was the solution.
cheers all

I am running into this well-known issue with several documents, but unfortunately none of the fixes I have come across have worked. Some background:
    -Using Windows 7 Pro
-Happening with both Adobe Reader XI and Acrobat X, clean installs. and happening on multiple computers, with multiple printers, with multiple domain users.
-Have tried repairing both installations, no success.
-Have tried disabling protected view, changing size of the fit, letting printer determine colors, printing in greyscale, changing setting for "view documents in PDF/A mode" to "never."
-Print as image works, but quality is unacceptable.
-It seems to be isolated mainly to Xerox printers, as I have no issues printing to an HP printer. I am trying different models of Xeroxes with no success, however. I have reinstalled printer driver and verified updated driver for all, issue persists. Printer models are Xerox ColorQube 8700X and 9203
-The PDFs are from different sources, so I can't pinpoint it to one website. Documents contain various financial info, so I can't post here. Any help would be appreciated. I'm probably going to have to try a different pdf reader for these, but that is not ideal, since multiple people need to print these and are comfortable using Adobe software.

I was also receiving the message "The Document Could Not be Printed" I am on 10.6.4 with Acrobat 9.4.1. I did not get the second part of the message though "There were not pages selected to print". Anyway, I got mine to work by going to Preferences - Print & Fax. I selected my printer and clicked Options & Supplies. Under the driver tab I changed the "Print Using:" box to Generic PostScript Printer. I'm not sure if this is what you are supposed to do. I'm not an expert but it worked for me so I am going with it.

I am trying to print a fillable form - - an application for a Chinese visa.  It will not print and I get two error messages:  "document could not be printed" and   "there were no pages selected to print."  The latter is not true.  Won't print at all, the page I am on, nor any series of pages inserted.
Am using a MAC desktop and a Cannon PIXMA MX922 printer.
I need to print this form now that it is filled out?  What can I do?

  • "The Document Could Not be Printed" "There were no pages selected to print"

    OSX 10.6.6
    Acrobat Pro 9.4.1
I am getting this error when printed from certain PDF files. My best guess is it is a font conflict because if I change the font in the document and re-export the file the document prints fine. But changing the font (and it happens with multiple fonts) is not an option.
Most of my documents are very large (up to 1,500 pages) and I use an InDesign plug in to merge data to create my PDFs.
I can print the document out of InDesign CS3 without any problems. If I open the file in Apple's Preview it prints or if I log out and log back in under a different user it prints.
But when this documents are printing out of acrobat I get those errors. It won't print to any of my mupliple printers (USB or network).
Spent an hour on the phone with Adobe today and got no answers at all. They are telling me it a corrputed user issue. (that is only effected in acrobat when printing certain documents.... OK).
With all the messing around I have done I'm guessing it has something to do with certain fonts during the export of the PDF from InDesign.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know. I have been fighting with this issue for a while now and today it is causing a major issue.
Just let me know if you need any additional information and thanks in advance for your help.

  • Printing error messsage "The document could not be printed","There were no pages selected to print"

Two error messages "The document could not be printed", followed by "There were no pages selected to print" pops up when printing a PDF document to a HP designJet 750c+ from a windows 7 machine if  "process on Computer" option is chosen from the Advanced tab. It works fine from an xp machine. I have tried on both PDF versions 9.0.0 and XI.
If "process on computer" option is not chosen, then it prints fine but it takes atleast 10- 15 min for the plotter to print.
    Any Suggestions???

    Thanks Sara,
No, I've deselected the "Enable Enhanced Security" and again I see this 2 error windows.

    Who can help me.
    Thanks,

I had same problem with Reader v11 and tried many of the suggestions. Finally I read a question, have you tried the Repair Adobe Reader Installation? I had not and thought perhaps it was in Windows 7 control panel/programs where there are sometime options to repair. In this case, the link is in the Reader Help menu. I ran it, had to restart computer, and pdf files print now! Good Luck

  • The document could not be printed with Acrobat Pro 9.5.1

All at once the Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9.5.1 gives the error 'The document could not be printed', 'there were no pages select to print'.
I have no idea what the problem is, all printing from other applications is fine, without any problem. A pdf in an email can be printed from my iPhone, but not from the PC (win 7 Ultimate SP1, 64 bit).
All pdf's have this problem, no matter if they stem from a download or made with Word or InDesign.
I de-installed and installed Acrobat Pro, no result. I also de-installed and installed the whole CS4 bundle, no result.
I also re-installed the printer, no luck.
I visited a lot of fora without succes. Is there someone that can help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Cor

    Hi,
    Thanks for reporting the problem.
It seems you are unable to print any pdf from Acrobat. You mentioned that you are able to print the same PDFs from iphone and other devices.
Are you able to print from any other application(e.g. word, notepad) from the same machine where you are seeing the issue. It looks to me that your machine is not able to establish contact with the printer but your other devices are able to.
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,

  • The document could not be printed...

I have users that seem to encounter the following errors on a regular basis.  No, it does not occur on every multipage PDF file, however it happens frequently.  When attempting to print multi-page documents - we receive the following errors:
The document could not be printed
    Followed by:
There were no pages selected to print
    My question is;
    How do I resolve it?
Is there any suggestions as to what could be creating this issue?
I have scanned through the Support forum and have not found any variable suggestion(s) that will remedy my problem.  Creating another PDF, printing to PDF or printing to XPS only results in the error message.  I have asked users to create a new PDF from the source.  This is not a guaranty that the problem is resolved and  it's not long before the issue is encountered again.

I just wanted to share my finding to the issue I posted the other day...in case this information could help others:
My office upgraded to Acrobat XI a few months ago and my original post has been a common problem encountered by most of my users.  Often with great frequency.  I spent hours researching this issue yesterday in the hopes of finding an answer for my irritated users.
Unfortunately, on this forum (or any other)  I could not find any information that was useful.  I read extensively about Acrobat Distiller and even tested many different configurations.  Some of the suggestions recommended that I just recreate the PDF from the original source, something wrong with my printer, etc.  Regarding recreating the PDF, in many scenarios our users are the recipients of the PDF's and not the original author.  Therefore, recreating the document is not an option.  It is also hard to blame the printer when every other document will print fine, even most PDF's from the Reader!
Yes, I chatted with Support which spent forty five minutes verifying that we owned the product and than never had an answer only to tell me that I can purchase a support plan.
Finally, I had to try other PDF applications and it WORKED!  The best of the group was NitroPDF.  I manage to print documents that I re-open in Acrobat and still have the problem.  Not a good solution to have to support to applications...I think I am going to have to drop one of them….

  • This document could not be printed.

I am trying to print a 134"x36" pdf I created but I get The document could not be printed message followed by There were no pages selected to print. Here's what I have tried with/without success.
Success: Windows 7 64-bit computer with Reader X.
Success: Windows XP computer with Reader 9.5.1
No success: Windows 7 64-bit (different)computer with Reader X. It will print when Actual Size is checked and the size is 8.5x11.
No success: Windows XP (different)computer with Reader X.
I have tried different pdf's with the same results. I need to get the No success computers to print these.

I am able to print an 11x17 pdf to a 11x17 and 22x34 page size. When I choose a custom size it gives me "the document could not be printed" message.

Under Help there is a repair installation. This fixed my issue on Windows 7 & Adobe X Reader (not on the XP system). I don't understand why I would need to repair a fresh installation but I am printing now.

  • "The document could not be printed" without an reason!?

    Hi all,
cant Print PDF Flattening *80% then get message from reader  "The document could not be printed" without an reason!
Document was an PowerPoint and the PDF was created with FreePDF 4.02 and watermarked with PDF4Net.
How can I find out what is the problem?
    Thanks
    Robert

The default printer is set, the page setup had a printer selected; these did not change the error result. All printers were removed using the Mac OS X printer system reset and added them back. The Adobe "Repair Acrobat Installation" was also used after adding the printers. None of these changed the error result. There is no printer spool created, just the Acrobat pop up error window with "The document could not be printed."

  • Document could not be printed

Unable to print numerous different PDFs from a corporate website. Each file has similar header, images, length, appearance. Opening the files online I receive the message "Insufficient data for an image" but the images do appear after I scroll down a bit. They disappear if I scroll up again.  Try to print and this message appears " Document could not be printed". I have tried saving and reopening in Reader 9.1, also printing to file and printing as an image. Nothing works. I think the two issues are connected.  I have seen similar discussions on this and other forums but they seem to lead nowhere.  Can anyone help please?

    Hi all
An update. I have two machines a desktop PC (XP) connected by USB and a laptop (Vista) that is printer accessed by wired networking (802.11b/g (Wi-Fi)).
The Adobe software on the desktop is the latest
The Adobe software on the laptop is not quite up to date.
I can print from the laptop.
So it seems the issue is with the latest Adobe upgrade.
Would there be any opinions on this or will an upgrade be released soon?
