Document Expired

My web pages are built with JSP + javascript + AJAX, so a little dynamic when loading a page (it is NOT a static HTML text page).
As a common practice, when users visits my website, they can click on a hyperlink to open another webpage. When they want to go back, they can click the browser's BACK button that will bring them back to where they were.
What happened to the firefox is that when its default CACHE runs out, it will display:
Document Expired
This document is no longer available.
The requested document is not available in Firefox'x cache.
[Try Again]
The general solution is that I can go to the Options page to either increase the CACHE limit ot clean up the CACHE.
But for a public user, they either do not know what to do or assume that my website has problem!
Besides, all the other browsers worked fine, which include IE (8, 9, 10, and 11), Chrome, Firefox 10.0.7 for SUSE Linux, and Safari. It is the newer versions of Firefox that is failing.
So my I suggest that Firefox remove its caching limitation features, instead, either using the feature implemented in the older version (of Firefox), or make it match those browsers such as IE, Chrome and Safari.
Firefox was used to be user friendly.
Thanks
Scott

I'm just replying because I could not figure out how to post. I could barely find my password. I'm mostly ignorant of how to go change things in the program and other unfamiliar places, but i think myself a fairly good human being, so please try to not insult me. I have seen advice here on
a) workaround for 'document expired', and
b) installing a previous version without having it undo it by immediately updating.
I did not Understand any of the advice, but this is really really annoying, WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING
what, 4-5 updates or more and still not fixed
Giving a person half a path or expecting them to know how to find stuff in unfamiliar places doesn't work

  • Insert document expiration date in a Word template

    Hello all,
I have a problem I hope anyone can help me with. I need to include a column in Document Library with the Document expiration date and after that, include that expiration date into the Word templates I have in that library.
In order to do that, I created a date column (not a calculated one) called "ExpDate" with a default value of Today + 365 as I want the document to expire one year after its creation. After that, I edit the word templates I have associated to the
document library so as to include the new "ExpDate" column as a Quick part.
The problem I find is the following: When I create a new document based in the document templates (through content types), the user has the chance to insert an expiration date (as it is metadata) or leave it empty (the column is not defined as mandatory). If
the user leaves the expiration date empty, the new column is filled with the default value (today + 365 days) but when I open the word document I see the name of the column [ExpDate] instead of the default value.
Is there a way of forcing the document information panel to be filled with the default value?
Do you imagine an alternative solution to the requirement of including the expiration date inside the document without having to be defined by the user?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards.

Wordsub.llb should be somewhere in your Labview folder on your local drive. The path to it in my install is: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\addons\_office\_wordsub.llb
Also what specific problem are you referring to about 17 bookmarks? Is that the limit on the express style VI for filling them in from LV? If so what you will need to do is to use the lower level function 'Word Insert Field' under Word Advanced VIs. You will need to supply the VI the name of the bookmark and the text you want to insert.

  • Cannot use back button, Document expired. Need a workaround on 1 website. Also mozilla says it crashes every time I close it.

I use one website extensively day to day in researching for my business. Move forward and bacj to original search in order to tweak the search criteria and Im constantly getting:
    Document Expired
This document is no longer available.
The requested document is not available in Firefox's cache.
As a security precaution, Firefox does not automatically re-request sensitive documents.
Click Try Again to re-request the document from the website.
This has become a real pain in the neck and I need to find a work around. Ive researched to find check the box stating
"override automatic cache" which is checked already and still have the issue.
ALSO everytime I shut down firefox I get a message stating it has crashed??

You can clear your cache without clearing anything else.
If you are using the Clear Recent History dialog, make sure to expand the lower section ("Details") and uncheck the other categories of personal data.
Or you can use the method described below.
I haven't researched the status of this issue since the Firefox 32-33 days, so here's an old thread and some old advice:
[https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1025750 Why do I get document expired every time I go back in search results?]
'''Steps to clear Firefox's cache or manually set a different size'''
Start by calling up the Options/Preferences dialiog:
    ''For Windows:''
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab
    ''For Mac:''
"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Advanced > Network mini-tab
On that tab, in the second section, which should be labeled Cached Web Content, you can try either:
    * Clear Now (if you have a large hard drive, this may lock up Firefox for a couple minutes)
    * Check the box for "Override automatic cache management" and, if desired, increase the cache size from the default of 350 megabytes

Are you sending HTTP response headers that instruct Firefox not to cache the pages?
You can get a "document expired" message if you use the back button to return to a specific page and the web site has instructed Firefox not to cache the page.<br />
Firefox tries to retrieve the page from the server, possibly by sending POST data.

  • Document expiration date?

    Hi,
I don´t know if this is possible... I want put a date expiratacion in a document, can i? How?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regardsm

    Hi,
You can give Valid from and Valid  properties to a document.  Before that its doucment parent folder should be lifetime enabled. You also need to activare the Time dependent publishing services.
Then people having only read permission can only see only betweenthe valid from and valid to dates.
People having full rights can see even though the time expires.

  • Document Expiration Date Not Updating

    Hi,
I’ve implemented a document retention policy based upon a custom date field. The custom date field is not for users to edit so it defaults to 1/1/1900 for new documents and I have written a console app that updates the custom date field to an appropriate
date. The problem is that the expiration date, both for new and existing documents, doesn’t update. This is also the case if I update the document properties manually. In dev updating the custom date field, manually or via code,
triggers an update in the expiration date but this isn’t happening in UAT. We’re using a content type hub in UAT although I can’t see how that makes a difference as the information management policies have been distributed correctly.
Does anyone have an ideas as to why the expiration dates are not re-calculating?
    Thanks in advance
    Neil

It is running and I've run it manually a number of times. But my understanding is that the job only updates new or amended expiration policies, it doesn't re-calculate for existing ones. That aside, the expiration date should update immediately when
the field upon which is based is updated - at least that's the behaviour I've seen in development.

  • Everytime I go back on document to the first page I get a "Document Expired" message. This a ROYAL PITA; how can I fix this?

This problem occurs on most every website I use and is now getting to be very maddening. Is there anyway to fix this other going to another browser, which I would prefer not to do.

It sounds like you have chosen a publishing template rather than a word processing template. There are two basic modes in MS Word: word processing and publishing layout. Word processing mode (and all word processing templates) have a continuous text box in the page for writing text. The publishing layout mode (and publishing templates) are documents that have text boxes placed for articles, titles, pictures, etc. Be sure to choose the word document template and you’ll get what you expect. Do not choose the word publishing document.

  • Change material document -- Expiration date.

I have already created a new BADI which contains interface MB_DOCUMENT_BADI. There I use the method MB_DOCUMENT_BEFORE_UPDATE. What I want to do is to modify the expirate date (VFDAT) from MSEG.
I thought that I could use BAPI_CUSTOMERCONTRACT_CHANGE but I can't because I don't have any <b>order</b>. The parameters I use to create the material document are next: GOODS RECEIP --> OTHERS --> movement 501. After that I enter the information of the material.
After that I want to check if the expirate date has been insert or not. If it is not, I want to insert 31.12.9999 (dd/mm/yyyy).
I tried to use this fuction: MB_CHANGE_DOCUMENT also with IN BACKGROUND TASK and after that COMMIT WORK.
The program doesn't do anything, and it is just because in transaccion SM58 it says "MISSING PARAMETER WITH PERFORM".
Which BAPI or FUNTION can I use to resolve my problem?? I'm completely locked!
Thank you very much in advance.
    Best Regards.

  • Document Expiration Reminders

    Hello,
I am trying to implement document reminders through SPD workflows. However when I implement it, following is happening:
    1. I tried to use only send email option in the workflow. It works and the email comes.
    2. Then I tried the pause until with calculations. The pause until x time is shown in WF history but even after that, the email is not coming and WF is stuck there only.
    3. Then I tried Pause for option in Workflow. I used Pause for 2mins (No calculations and conditions) and then tried to send the email. The WF history says pausing for 2mins and the email never comes and WF is stuck again.
Can you please let me know what the issue could be.
    Thanks.
    Divesh
    Divesh Gupta.

    Hi Divesh,
Pause condition is tricky. The workflow might be stuck because of many reasons. Depends on the workflow job that runs and also the timer job. Sometimes it also depends on the CU that you have installed.
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/15f99941-f15d-46ff-8ef5-d1c3424c9cae/workflow-pause-for-does-not-unpause?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious
Instead, try to use Pause Untill this time. Create a Date Time variable and set that to current Date-time. Use Add Time to Date and add 5 mins to it. Then Pause untill this Time.
You can increase the added time if you need to increase the delay. Hope it helps.

  • When using back button keeps saying document expired during web search

I found someone else who had this problem on here:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=888757
The solution is to "Reset Firefox" but the issue I'm having with this is that after about a week or two, it returns to the previous state. My client is upset that we don't have a permanent fix for this.

    Hello Personalglitch
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
(menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Adding a watermark instead of expiring a document

Does anyone know if the following is possible with policy server:
Instead of expiring a document, to issue the document with a watermark on it, indicating that the document's validity has elapsed.

    > Thanks
Yes, Policy Server provides dynamic watermarking capabilities, so this
is possible. However, the out-of-the-box capability does not allow you
to automatically apply a watermark when the document expires, so a
custom event handler may be required.
