Hi Somya,
setting up EWA is explained in Application help of SAP Solution Manager.
It would be helpful to know, what you have already done and what is causing problems for you.
Prerequisite to process EWA is to configure all steps described in the Basic Settings of SAP Solution Manager Configuration guide (tx SPRO).
The configuration of Issue Tracking is also described in the IMG (Basically, it's required to activate a BC Set).
Path in IMG: Basic Settings -> Standard Configuration of Basic Settings -> Solution Manager -> Basic BC-Sets for Configuration -> Activate Issue Tracking BC Set
Access the configuration guide:
- run transaction SPRO
- choose SAP Reference IMG
- expand tree SAP Solution Manager -> Configuration -> Basic Settings
- follow the steps under
"Wizard-based Initial Configuration of Basic Settings", if your SolMan system has not been yet configured or
"Standard Configuration of Basic Settings", if you have done already some configuration.

• Early Watch Alert Configuration

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to configure Early Watch Alert in Solution Manager 4.0.
When i try to create a periodic request session data, It is created for early watch alert and not for EarlyWatch Alert for Solution Manager.
And when i try to call from solution manager4 solution_manager->solution->Early Watch Alert then i get the following error.
The data for this session is overdue. Data has not yet been transferred from the associated satellite system.
Go to the Service Data Control Center (transaction SDCCN) in the satellite system and check why the data has not been sent.
Typical sources of errors are:
The RFC connection for the SAP Solution Manager system is not working.
The 'Task Processor' background job, which collects the session data, has been changed.
Problems arose while data was being collected (see the detail log for the task that collects the session data).
A periodic 'SDCC Maintenance Package' task has not been scheduled to check whether your SAP Solution Manager system requests session data.
Please help me.

First of all, i'm no expert on this, but...
1] Go to tcode: SDCCN
2] You see 2 tasks to do. Maintenance Package and Service preparation check.
3] Select Maintenance Package, in the menu Edit -> start now
4] A new task is created with a session number
5] Select the new task, in the menu Edit -> start now (this will take a few minutes).
6] Now go to dswp, select your solution and see EarlyWatch Alert reports.
7] You probably have to click on create report or something like that.
I think this problem will solve itself, because it's a job which hasn't been started yet.
Because the job hasn't started, the session does not yet exist, which will result in an error overdue.

• What Authorization for a S-User to setup an Early Watch Alert?

Dear Friends,
Could you tell me please that what kind of Authorization (type of user) a S-User must have to setup an Early Watch Alert by that S-User details?
Scenario tested by me as follows -
I have setup EWA in two places, but only one is sending me the report, where I have setup the EWA by the Customer S-User ID, which directly came from SAP. It was a Super Admin type S-User. But, in other location I have setup the EWA with a S-User ID with limited Authorization "Edit Messages" only, and from where still now I have not received any EWA alerts / reports.

I am afraid you could only use the Customer S-User ID which directly came from SAP.
Thanks,
Gordon

• Early watch alert task not created in SDCCN in satellite system

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to configure EWA in solution manger 7.0 ehp1. I have added the system in SMSY, created RFC SM_SIDCLNTXXX_READ and SM_SIDCLNTXXX_TRUSTED in solution manger and also created RFC SM_SIDCLNTXXX_TRUSTED and SM_SIDCLNTXXX_BACK in satellite system sucessfully.
The Early watch Alert in TA DSWP is showing me a red flag. The job /BDL/TASK_PROCESSOR in satellite system is being sucessfully finished.
The problem I am facing is I cannot find task Early watch Alert in SDCCN in my satellite system and can not create other RFC such as SAPOSS and SDCC_OSS
Could anyone please suggest how should i go about it?
Component version of my satellite system is
ST-A/PI - 01M_SCM570
ST-PI - 2005_1_700 00003

Hello Sohrab
1) The SDCCN task logs will be on the Done tab - You can also check the logs in SLG1 at the time, there could be more information there.
Typically the refresh definitions will have nothing, except when there are updates, so it is not unusual to see no updates here each time the task runs. If there are service sessions the maintains package should pick them up with refresh service task.
Is the SM_<SID>CLNT<nnn>_BACK RFC set as the master in SDCCN?
One test you can make is create a Refresh session task on the satellite. This is the task that the Maint. Package should run.
It will just be easier for testing. If the refresh session task does not create any EWA tasks for the service sessions outstanding, then there is a configuration issue.
If it works, then the Maintenance task is failing before it can shcedule the refresh session task.
I realize I haven't offered a solution, but a way of finding out where it is failing. Once we isolate where it is failing, we reduce the possibilities of what it could be, and we should be left with the solution.
So forget the Maintenace Package for Now. Lets see if you can pull the service sessions with a Refresh Session Task.
You know in the SDCCN task logs errors in the logs are prefaced by what looks like a yellow lightening bolt.
So if you see these in any of the logs, you are encountering an error, and you should copy it here.
Hope this helps to move you forward.
Regards,
Paul

• Early Watch Alert - Red Flag

Hi Gurus,
I configured EWA for a satellite system in solman but it did not generate the report and instead it had a red flag in the EWA Reports column. Clicking the Red flag it gave the following message:
Go to the Service Data Control Center (transaction SDCCN) in the satellite system and check why the data has not been sent.
Typical sources of errors are:
-The RFC connection for the SAP Solution Manager system is not working.
-The 'Task Processor' background job, which collects the session data, has been changed.
-Problems arose while data was being collected (see the detail log for the task that collects the session data).
-A periodic 'SDCC Maintenance Package' task has not been scheduled to check whether your SAP Solution Manager system requests session data.

Could any one tell me how to overcome this issue If any of you have come across the same problem.

Hi,
I found that some authorizations were missing.. now i have configured to generate ewa today. and in SAP Solution Manager: Active Solutions it shows the system and when I go in instead of the red flag it shows a sand clock and when i click on the early watch alert it says:
Wait for session data
The session is waiting for data from a remote system. Data transfer can take up to one day.
You can also send the data manually.
In the satellite system, start the Service Data Control Center (transaction SDCCN).
Choose Task -> Create. The system displays a task overview.
Double-click Refresh Sessions. A dialog box appears. You can define the attributes of the task.
To start processing the task immediately, select Now in the Scheduling area.
In the Target RFC Destination field, select the RFC connection that points to your SAP Solution Manager system.
Choose Run Task Once.
Confirm your entries. The task appears in the To do view and is marked for processing. When the Session Refresh task has been processed, a new task with the appropriate session type and session number appears in the To do view. This task collects and sends the data for your session. If a new task does not appear, search in the task-specific log for errors that ocurred during the Session Refresh task and make any necessary corrections.
To start the task immediately, select it and right-click to call up the context menu.
Choose Start Now. When the task has been processed successfully, it appears in the Done view. The data has been sent to your SAP Solution Manager system. You can check this in the task-specific log.

• Early watch Alert in Solution Manager 7.1

Hi All
Are there any sap reference guides on configuring Early watch on Solution Manager 7.1?
I tried looking this up in help.sap with little luck.
We have installed Early watch 7.1 and have run solman_setup till the Basic Configuration phase (with some errors though)
Is the managed system configuration a must for Early watch? Any guides or runbooks / notes from sap would be of great help.

• Early Watch alert creation

HI,
I need to create the early watch alert service for 2 systems of development and quality : VSD and VSQ. It is possible or EWA is allowed only for production systems?
In the target systems SDCCN transaction in configured , but in SSM we are not able to put the two systems in the active group of the solution "viesgo", so to be able to generate the early watch like VSP.
Can you help me ?

Fine, you have completed the first step.
Go to the Satellite Systems and check the following:
RFC Destination (default name: SM_<SID>CLNT<client>_BACK ) to SAP Solution Manager exists and is functional.
Transaction SDCCN (Service Data Control Center) must have been activated. Maintenance Package runs daily. (
RFC Destination (default name: SM_<SID>CLNT<client>_BACK ) is assigned in SDCCN: Goto -> Settings -> Task-Specific -> Session Data Collection -> RFC Destinations -> Settings.
Afterwards schedule the "Maintenance Package" once and start it manually.
Best regards,

• Early watch alert report

Hi,
I have a question on the Early watch alert report generated by the system on section 1.2 Disk Space and 1.3 Hardware Information and installed OS Release in the report.
I have installed Early Watch Alert for few of our customers. In the section 1.2 and 1.3 of the report generated, some of it will show the information of client workstation that connected to B1 server, some of it only show the information of the server and some only show the information of certain client workstation and not showing the server's information.
Can anyone let me know what is the setup i need to consider so that the report will show all the client workstation's information including the server or i want the report to only show the server's information.
Finally, how does system retrieve the hardware information of those client workstation since the Early watch alert is only installed on the Server, i though Early Watch Alert will only retrieve the information of the server with server tools installed.
Thanks.
Regards,
Kong Chee Ann

HI,
I think it is only contect/customizing info will be analyzed, no application data like customer names, marketing documents or similar will be transmitted in the EWA.
The contents of the data in the EWA are :
1. System data
2. database administration
3. backup of company database
4. company info . doc volume
5. Installed addons
6. Business settings
or in the EWA I installed in the server, I've got these infos :
1. Customer Info
2. Company database info
3. Software info
4. Installed addon
5. Company database backup info
6. Hardware Info
7. Company database growth
8. Company user amount
9. Document volume
it seems that it tends to give system data in the server PC and not in the client PC.
Rgds,

Hi All,
For sending the Early Watch Alert Report through Email, I have completed the configuration. After adding the desired Email Address in Path Solution_manager-->goto--
> Automatic Email Transmission, do i need to create a Zjob in SCOT T-code or this is sufficient.

Dear
You have to make sure your mailing of SCOT is being sent out.
Regular SCOT job for mailing is sufficient, it does not require additional one (INT option).
